TERRORISM

According to webster is the systematic use of terror (a state of intense fear) especially as a means of coercion.

But also according to some Nairalanders, Terrrorism is an act only committed by muslims undecided . In other words when you hear the word terrorism, you should think muslims.

Ok people choose the definition you like.

I choose websters definition.
God bless you for helping us out here.

I now await people to start justifying their accusations by lining them up against the definition of terrorism.

I want to state that
*suicide bombers are terrorists because they want to instil fear in others
*Israel is a terrorist state because it seeks to terrorise Palestinians into giving up        their land
*George Bush is a terrorist because he seeks to use intense fear to coerce everyone else into agreeing with him.

We can all list who we think fits that bill and consider whether they are all muslims.

It's been 7 months since I said I would think of a reason to love a Nigerian man. I still have none.
Hopefully, when you have gone around the other Nationalities, you dont come back looking for a naija guy because some will see you as remnant at that time.

There are many such 'remnants' who suddenly realise that the naija guy is the best thing since sliced bread

If we continue at this rate, the country will be burning in 10 years' time.

Our mentality and mindset is not made for what we seem to be intent on practising. We need a re-orientation before we practise certain forms of government

If you practice a style of Government simply because that is what works elsewhere, you may find yourself in trouble. I think that's one of the main problems with Nigeria.

We had the Idiagbon regime which, in my opinion, was what we needed at that point in Nigeria to stem the tide of rot which was engulfing us but a number of westernised people thought it was a dictatorial regime (my parents also thought so). Look where we are now! The Idiagbon regime may have succeeded in changing our mindset for the better but now the average Nigerian has a corrupt mindset and sees corruption as a necessity to move ahead.

We got a democracy which our mentality was not able to cope with. LOOK AT US NOW

Look no offense but, you starting to sound ridiculous. In China, the people do not decide who leads them. The Communist party does. Nigeria, UK, and US are not one party states. I don't know what they hell ministers have got to do with this. Since when have ministers ever been elected anywhere?

I know the truth is hard to accept for those who love to hate America. Face it, their form of government (Demorcracy) is the best of the bunch and it is spreading. It's only a matter of time before China joins the club.
Now you are coming out with what you really have inside you.

you believe that what should be practised is what is being practised by some other nation. Democracy should be a system where citizens elect those who have the rule over them. So why does one person have the powers to SELECT ministers who take decisions about the way our lives are lived? why dont we get to elect ministers who make policy decisions?

The point is that there is no perfect democracy anywhere in the world.

You would rather want everyone to practise what is practised in the US. That's why you ask 'since when have ministers been elected anywhere?' It should not be about what is done anywhere but about what works for every country.
PoliticsRe: Is Democracy Universally Beneficial? by Easyy(op): 10:59am On Dec 03, 2006
Donzman, thanks for clarifying that we have no democracy in Nigeria. Why has George 'war monger' Bush not taken it upon himself to attack Nigeria for having a dictatorial leader?

I hope it's not because many american companies are very free to explore/exploit Nigeria's resources. Discussion for somewhere else.

@U talked about Bush's massacre of Iraqis as if he ordered their mass killings like Saddam. But see how u justify your claim of Bush's massacresLet's face it this is illogical.U can't make a sensational claim that Bush massacred Iraqis by saying that he prepared the ground for it.Even your friend Afam was prepared to admit that most Iraqis up until this year thought the war was worth it.Does that make most Iraqis guilty of the masacres?

You have not in this thread for once condemned the people who conduct he car bombs or other suicide bombs.U seem satisfied simply indulging in anti-americanism
What is the difference between the person who prepared the grounds for something to happen but does not say it should happen and someone who says 'let it happen'? Bush did not say 'let there be massacres and chaos' but he goes ahead and prepares the ground for chaos and massacre.

If you were an Iraqi, you'd say initially that the invasion was worth it in the belief that these foreigners only came to help remove a despot but as soon as the other intentions of the foreigners become clear, you start developing hatred for them. Why is there a desperate desire to attack those of the moslem faith?

AGAIN, this thread is not about suicide bombers or Iraqis but about the illegality of Bush's action. Why do I need to keep reminding you?

At least u don't contest that the site u cited is an advocacy group and so should not be cited as a source of facts. It is like refering to refering to the MASSOB website for facts on the Nigerian-Biafra war.

It's not that simple. The people of Iraq were not free to decide on what type of government they wanted. You seem to be forgetting how dictators operate. Anyone making noise about a new government is simply executed.

About China, read this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiananmen_Square_protests_of_1989 (a massacre)
Iraqis were told what type of government they were getting and they were just to go and vote. They had no say in what type of government they get. They can only influence the personality make up of the government, not the type of government.

If China is not democratic, Nigeria is not democratic neither is America or even UK for that matter.

In China, the President and Vice President are not directly elected. In Nigeria, no one elects the ministers, same applies to America. Every nation should decide the best way to form it's own government rather than being forced to do things the way America wants it done.

@Easyy,

I am not responsible for the statement you have termed "false claim" that you have now asked me to defend.
Can you please show us and tell us how many car bombings and suicide attacks that Bush is sanctioning in Iraq? Bush is not responsible for the massacre. The Iraqis are!!! Trying to put the blame on Bush is totally unjustified when we realise that the kurds and the Christians in Iraq are not involved in the ethnic/religious cleansing going on in that Country. The two culprits are the Shia and the Sunnis whose enmity and universal hostility towards each other began during the life time of Muhammad.

So now that Bush is waiting for the UN to give the go-ahead to go into Sudan, would you say the thousands of lives that are being lost is worth the wait? I personally feel he should have gone into that country despite the lack of mandate. Each life saved will be worth whatever names you guys will call him.
You want to know how many car bombings Bush sanctioned?

You will first tell me who prepared the grounds for the car bombs.

even when the peace accord is signed we all know who violates it first

@easyy

so much sweet words u have said here indeed
isreal makes incursions into palestine territory

well it is quite unfortunate that u don't have enough facts to support your argument because if u do u would know why isreal each time goes back in to palestine territory

mind u the arabs in palestine as at today were a group of people organised by arafat they they originally are from syria and lebanon

isreal do not make incursions into arab terrotory willing they are forced to. isreal have been giving up land for peace every time yet your faithful palestines are not satisfied
probably u should tell us why hezbollah decided to attack isreali soldiers at there duty post and then start hauling rockets on isreali civilians

if they so much like their people why hide among civilians when hauling rockets?

like i have always said
unitl the arabs learn to keep to their own side of any bargain there would never be peace inthe middle east

and mind u easyy the arabs are trained from birth to see the isrealis as the enemy go and ask arafat about the propanganda scheme or u could read up some earlier post u would see the link to UTUBE and the rest

enjoy
You sign a peace accord after you take all of my land and make me your houseboy? you must be having a laugh!

While Israel was giving up land in front of TV cameras, they were grabbing even more land behind the scenes. You need to go and find out the real facts and not what you are fed by your right wing press.

They fight the way they think they can fight back. They'll hide wherever they think they need to hide to fight back. Until there is justice and fairness, there can never be peace.

If a stronger man is killing me and I want to fight back, I wont mind biting his balls off cheesy if that's the only way I percieve I can fight back.

The proper propaganda is being carried out by America and UK. I dont really need any UTUBE link. Palestinians dont need anyone to train them to hate Israelis. What they suffer everyday and see from childhood being inflicted upon them is enough to train them for hatred towards Israel and America.

Have fun

There is democracy in Communist China. You can chose to say they are repressive BUT they are still elected by the people and there is the presence of a parliament. I got the follwing information off the net

There is more thn one party, though the communist party is the majority, and so they have all the say

Direct elections in the People's Republic of China take two forms: elections for village leader in selected rural villages and elections for local people congresses. Each people's congress then conducts an election for the next higher level of people's congress, culminating in elections for the national legislature: the National People's Congress (Quanguo Renmin Daibiao Dahui). The NPC has 2,979 members, elected for five year terms. Deputies are elected (over a three month period) by the people's congresses of the country's 23 provinces, five autonomous regions and the four municipalities directly under the Central Government, the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau and the armed forces. The size of each college of delegates is related to the number of electors in the constituency. 36 deputies are elected in Hong Kong.

It is amazing how many of these Bush critics don't seem to care about issues affecting Africa.I have never come across a topic dealing with the conflicts in Africa like in Sudan or the D.R.C Congo. All they seem to care about is how to attack the US and Bush, hence they become more Arab than the Arabs.

Because America is not in Sudan, they are not interested even though they are Africans.Am sure Arabs are not sitting down discussing conflicts in Africa. One insurgent leader said that part of the reason they hate American troops is the prescence of Black people in the American military
It is amazing the lengths Bush apologists go to defend him.

This thread is about Bush's illegal action and masacre of Iraqis. We cant discuss every item on the same thread and there's no need to point out what someone else has done wrong when you're defending your own wrong doing.

Is it not the same elusive UN mandate that is ensuring that the genocide in Sudan continues? So will you accuse the U.S of illegality if inspite of no UN mandate they go into Sudan and stop the genocide?

Since no one has got the guts to do the right thing, they will all hide behind the lack of a UN mandate to excuse their irresponsible inaction in the face of apparent evil.
Why did Bush not wait for the same mandate before going into Iraq? Why does he need the mandate to go into Sudan but felt he did not need it to go into Iraq?

Perhaps you should have said straight that there was no UN mandate for the Iraqi invasion by Bush's America, therefore, the invasion is illegal. The continued stay is necessary for them to sort out the mess they have created in the country hence the mandate granted by the UN for them to remain.

Please read here where it explicitly states that the war started without a resolution on whether or not to attack Iraq; hence the war was percieved by many governments as ILLEGAL

Well, if that makes the war legal, then those asking for a trial are wasting their time. Frankly based on what I have read, setting aside moral arguments, any war is legal provided the combatants' parliaments agree to the war. i.e Nigeria can invade Cameroon tomorrow if the Nigerian parliament agrees with OBJ to do so. yikes.
I assume this is directed at me. I do prefer to beleive that the war is more GW & friends handwork than some nationwide conspiracy however here are my reasons.
