onegentleguy:
This is why I've always respected u.
U are one of those mature enough to engage constructively, and I like that.

Now to the crux of the matter;
I once wrote an article( https://www.booksie.com/604507-p2p-analysis-weighing-in-on-the-value-accretion-between-access-bank-uba) on these 2 banks drawing an inference post the comparison of which is better.
At the time, ACCESS despite their huge cost line and associated risk from asset detoriaration still managed to deliver more NPM than UBA.
Before I continue, permit me to correct an impression u might be having, considering that part of ur post in bold.
Banks derive earnings from either their CORE or NON-CORE banking line. ...so in retrospect, a bank must either be broadly INVESTMENT DRIVEN or LOAN DRIVEN or seek to strike a PROPER BALANCE in both lines. Where it is more investment driven, u'd expect the non-core banking line/channels to contribute the bulk of net margin, and where it is more loan driven, u'd expect the core banking line to do so.
For emphasis, the extent or degree of weighting a bank decides to attach to either of the 2 lines WILL ALWAYS depend on which way the economic indicators play out within a specified period.
To put things in context, at the height of activities and boom in the fixed income space btw 2016-2018, the banks(including uba) diverted funds therein and as expected, made far more from their non-core banking lines compared to their core lines.
The goal, at any given time is to grow, so NONE of these lines is as in important as delivering a positive in NET MARGIN/INCOME or at the very least, maintaining previous growth track. This is especially true of the Nigerian terrain where unfortunately, the real sector is given little or no consideration... no thanks to the many structural deficiencies in the system. The banks are there to grow and make money for their stakeholders. ...how it is made, is of very little importance here.
Hence, EFFICIENCY in this case is broadly defined by that part in italics and NOT whether ur growth margin had come from the core or non-core banking line.
By implication, of what use is UBA' higher growth in NIM if NPM went down?
We already know they had it good in that line(core banking). I mentioned it here then(see 1st post above)
But after that what happened? NIM is just one part of a banks profitability line. What does the other KEY indicators like NPM, EM, ROE, ROA, AER(asset efficiency ratio), CGPR, EFIR(external financing index ratio), PEG ratio and ETERPRISE VALUE say?

At the time I wrote that article above, this was also one of the issue that UBA had.(delivering higher NIM without a corresponding improvement in NPM). Fast forward to YE, 2019 and Q1, 2020, and they did improve on it. The bank had the best loan book portfolio ahead of even GTB and ZENITH and was well weighted in its investment income streams.(I remember mentioning it over a pchat with u then) And after that? ...well, the parts in bold from 2nd post above happened.

Historically,(look at the past 10 yr financial prints), UBA has often had this off and on growth. The bank, given its pedigree and African spread, ought to have moved past this stage.
That bank is supposed to be way bigger than ACCESS and near the class of GTB and ZENITH by now.
2 things; its either the management haven't managed to set up an entity that can maintain the needed growth trajectory.(inflow to outflow/expense line in view) or there are some persons playing occasional pranks.

With all the net positive at the income front, the bank still couldn't maintain its last growth track. Look at the statement of CF and u'll understand what played out bro.
Some of the items I've noticed in UBA recently, are a bit similar to the ones that played out with the gross mismanagement of funds in FBNH under the former GMD.

In all, there is no doubting the fact that ACCESS is better than UBA for now !! All key profitability, efficiency and growth indicators points to this.
And the statement of CF and BS lends even more credence to it.

I'll see if I can erk out the time to do an article on this later.

Cheers bro !!
Bro abeg bring this analysis to help us analyze Apple Tesla and the likes abeg. cool

BIGBANG007:
Good day everyone...

I have said and re-said this over and over again. I am not in anyway desperate though, but the fact that I am not operating in my full capacity is driving me crazy.

I trade FIXED TIME on TECH COMMODITIES (ANY OF NASDAQ100). I am yearning for a capacity to expand. I do earn $80 (#37,600) consistently and sometimes lose $100 (47,000), which I do always recoup at most the 3rd trading day because I trade just once per day after rigorous pre-market analysis.

My form of trading is capital based. My current trading capital can only earn me $80 per day which is not bad, but the expenses and energy involved is somewhat draining me. Apart from running cost, such as heavy internet usage (over 22 GB) and steady power supply for at least 6 running hours while the market is open, I also have a premium subscription as an individual with Bloomberg Professional, Wallstreet journal, NYSE market, New York Times and Business insider. I somewhat rely on both business, political, economic and social news alongside price action, traders behaviour, last opening/closing quotes, daily market review podcast and volume why analyzing the market.

I want to up my trading capital to the max, because the same energy and expenses involved to earn $80 is the same to earn over $1000 daily provided that there is a trading capital available for such. I can earn x3 of my current daily earnings which will be $240 (#112,800) every working days with a trading capital of $15000 (#7,050,000). Please note that the capital is safe at all times and readily available for withdraw anytime when needed.

I am not the noisy type... I have been to banks and serveral people for capital boost, none was fruitful. I am readily available for any form of security arrangements, I have a landed property in the heart of Alakija, Festac, Lagos State. My entertainment brand is at Wuye, Abuja where I manage creatives. I shuttle between Lagos and Abuja. I am even ready to trade under your watch for the next 3 to 4 months. Nothing can go wrong, I repeat, the invested trading capital is available at all time.

Below is my earning portfolio for the last 3 months which is somewhat ok, but the running expenses and lifestyle is draining me, I want to operate in max capacity and earn more.

Yes we are social beings, but I'm are talking how we would conduct business going forward?

Definetely technology would be a forefunner in deciding how we work, produce things and dispense services. This is what fuels the economy.

Provided we continue depending on technology to make ends meet, I don't think tech stocks are overvalued (long term). Not even with the profit they are making.

Besides technology is already changing our social lives. Look at Tiktok, Instagram, Snapchat and Reel.
Yes technology has been a part of life for decades now. The risk is that growth is limited now, this pandemic helped tech to grow even further by people relying on online payment and video conferencing. The question is how much further can tech grow. Some of these companies were called work from home companies like zoom and the way they are they don’t have much room for growth again. Would job interviews still be conducted via video conferencing etc year, Annual General meetings. It may have peaked that’s what I mean.

But Softbank also increased their investments in tech companies and went bullish. Or did they play both sides like you did? wink
It’s mostly derivatives in the companies they bought, them buying calls probably triggered buying interest. No one knows if they hedged by buying puts also tho. We’ll see in some days if they’ve unloaded their position.

Tech is here to stay bros. The coronavirus has altered the way we do things for life. Companies are already moving away from states such as New York and California and relocating to states that are low in population. By winter, after all the noise of cyclical stocks, people would come back to tech.
See humans are social creatures, that’s why I said it depends on trends during and after the elections. Trump is more likely to open the economy than Biden especially as treatments start coming out. He has pushed for schools to open up, schools are opening up now. People even want to start coming out, obviously tech would still last but these tech companies are way overvalued. People are making it seem like this is a permanent change in the way we would start But it is still likely that in some months we could go back to normal Most states are opening up now and people are returning back to work.
Of course, FAANG would still survive but companies like zoom may not reach all time highs again.

They apparently plan to introduce low cost bikes which would make it more affordable for low income customers. This is positive.

No one is a financial advisor here. Everyone is totally responsible for his/her portfolio. 90% of investors lose money in the market. Check forums on reddit. People lost money but no one blamed anyone, why do we have to be different.

InvestmentRe: Us Stocks Pick Alert by ebuka1997: 7:04pm On Sep 04, 2020
My thoughts are that this is a stock market rotation, the tech sector rallied as a result of shutdowns and work from home trends but after the Labor Day weekend next week the elections would start influencing the market more. Investors would bet on cyclical stocks. For example, winter is coming up. Some companies would be in more in demand And as demand for their services increases, it could affect their stock price. These doesn’t mean other stocks won’t rise too oh. I just think the market would be up and down, up and down.
I’m looking at toro a snow and ice removal company which generally rises during the winter and a quick glance at their earnings shows they beat earnings by 45%
Winter resorts would have been a good option but hospitality is still down for now

For traders planning to enter the market right now, it will be advisable to wait for pullbacks that may happen after payment of interim dividends by UGAZ before entering.

For long termers Zenith, Access and UBA are still cheap,my price limit for buying Zenith is N23.
Wapco is getting ready for some serious movement, 3rd quarter result will assure doubting thomases of Wapco's full recovery.
The new CBN policy that led to a meagre bank deposit rate of 1.35% will definitely bring some liquidity to the market. The good times seems to be here or not far away.
As USA is tanking, this is moving gradually. Thank God. God bless Nigeria.

They weren’t in a bubble like tech, since the March crash tech has been seeing 300% increases but oil has been stable so there’s limited downside compared to tech.
