Please does anybody know when Mobil will pay off the dissenting shareholders?

I thought I read April 16th as the deadline to pay somewhere.

Shouldn’t the company be required to pay dividends to dissenters if they have not been paid off by 29 April that is dividend qualification date?

They have paid since 16th April. Please check with the registrars.
This average price
First price = $10
Second price = $6
Average price = ($10 + $6 ) ÷ 2 = $8[/qu

Your formula will not work in case of multiple purchases! It is better you work it properly as follows:
4units @ $10 = $40
4units @ $6 = $24
Total of 2 transactions = $64
Average price is Total cost divided by number of units
$64/8 = $8

@ Onegentleguy, if you sold on the qualification date you won't qualify for dividend and bonus.

Nice work from @onegentleguy. However, I believe that the word "after" should replace the word "outside" in the sentence "...and so any purchase made outside this date will be deemed ineligible" I will also add that "Qualification date" is effective end of stated day while "Closure of Register" is effective beginning of stated date.

Quite a lot of guys do this. You may not. But this is the trend.

Imagine someone who bought 100 units of Dangote Sugar at N20. He must have paid N2,000 excluding broker's charge. Imagine if Dangote Sugar declared 80kobo dividend, he should get like N72 after withholding tax.

He goes for the AGM and he is fed with a sumptuous meal, with chilled water. Then he is given Transport fare of N5,000.

The guy has got his capital plus dividends + profit in one sitting!!!

He is making more money than those who bought 1million units of Dangote Sugar at N20 waiting for appreciation and dividend. The dividend yield on cost (YoC) is just 4%. If price remains the same, no appreciation for you.

Whereas the other guy got capital invested(N2,000) + profit(N3,000) + his N72 dividend. And his 100 unit stocks are still in the market ooo unsold. grin

I rebuke the spirit of pettiness.

Una don find out who the buyer of 11.2 B units is?
Nairametrics said the person or group is under the control of Uncle T.
Uncle T contols about 47% of Transcorp total shares.
If 27.5% is removed from 47%,the balance now is 18.5%.
Cant you see that uncle T is no longer a majority holder.

pls make una save Loco from this calamity befalling him...........

If anyone is interested for a crossdeal 5m units at 1.35,pls inform me but before I will do that,
JUST NEED TO KNOW WHO THE BUYER IS........BIKONU........EJOOOOO........PLS O.

You have not said whether you believed Nairametrics or not! If you do, then there is really no need to be worried. It only means TOE is just re-jiggling within his pot to achieve a strategic end. His ownership remains unchanged. Just swapping one indirect holding for another. Na so I see am o.

Please gurus in the house.....What should we do now with this Morgan problem.....i need to enter market tommorrow

I think we should be safe rather than sorry. I believe Morgan are understating the problem. I have tried access via Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Edge. All are giving the same security warning! And yet, Morgan wants us to override this and log in. Mba. Please note that in this kind of breach, the loss incurred or the potential to incur losses may not be immediately apparent.

GENTLEMAN, PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM ARE HIGHLY RESPECTABLE AND PEACE LOVING PEOPLE. AN ATTACK ON AN INDIVIDUAL IS AN ATTACK ON THE ENTIRE FORUM. PLEASE IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO CONTRIBUTE POSITIVELY, KINDLY THINK OTHERWISE AND DO THE NEEDFUL.

ONCE AGAIN, PLEASE WE DON'T ENTERTAIN FOUL LANGUAGE HERE.

The surprising thing here is this rude man (drnelson) actually asked for opinions on the forum board which means anyone could give it. This was freely given by a respected voice (manonamission) who expressly stated "in my opinion" in his response. If drnelson intended a specific individual to respond, he should have messaged the person directly. I guess he is not that intelligent though. Having said that, his language is abhorrent and he should not be on the same forum with sensible people that we are lucky to have here. I rest.

The crux of the matter is what is your investment strategy? Long, medium or short term?
I perceive it is not short term.
In that case, you want to carefully invest in fundamentally sound companies and watch your portfolio balloon over time.
You may have been swayed by the usual jijo giration that happens on this platform and gone against your plan.
If there was nothing fundamentally wrong with your Zenith, you should have simply waited for fresh funds to buy Dangflour whenever you could.
However, both Zenith and Dangflour are fundamentally sound and so nothing to worry too much about, except for Zenith's interim and final dividends on those you sold which should have accrued to you.
The way out is to try and master your emotions so you can maintain your strategy.
NOTE:
This move could turn out to be a masterstroke in the near term if Dangflour does a crazy upward swing in response to market revaluation to its fair value per share.
#StickToYourStrategy

Thank you sir. You hit the nail right on the head with the bolded. I am a long termer and have not given a sell instruction for years! I made a detour when a few months ago I saw Oando which I have been carrying at an average of N7.00 go up to N10.50. Note the stock has not added any value to me! I then decided to open another account to trade while I retained my investment account elsewhere. But with the stated scenario, I think I will stick to my strategy but weed out stocks like Oando.
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by EchoLima262: 10:16am On Aug 15, 2017
Many stocks are rising by the day in this bull market! Why sell when you will re-enter at a price possibly higher than you sold? For example, I bought Zenith at N14.56 and sold half at N23.00 to buy Dangote Flour. Both are still rising. Why didn't I just stay with Zenith? Baby investor me, I am confused. Please educate me, ogas in the house.

You can afford any share you want if you stop looking at the number of units you will buy.
Someone that bought 1unit if nestle @1000 last week will be on over 200 profit while the person that bought 600 units of unity bank with the same amount will be on less than 50 profit. Always look at the potential increase in price and not the number of units you can buy. grin

I think its just psychological. One feels better with 100 units rather than 20 units of anything. Its only when the returns become apparent that you begin to feel hard done by. Could well have bought 3000 units Dangote Cement @ N160 two months ago but bought 100K units each @1.27 of FCMB, Diamond and Fidelity. See where I am now cry cry!!

I simply have the school knowledge of stocks as taught in UNI but nothing practical which is why I asked. What Books/article do you recommend I read?

And you want to start with JIJO?! Anyway, the ogas in the house have spoken. Read as much of this forum as possible in addition to books and you are good to go. By the way, if you still decide to JI, make sure you have enough oxygen to breathe if a croc hold your leg in the water before you are able to JO. It can be suicidal otherwise.
