I used the document list on the portal.
I also attached the PR card of my husband and me, our utility bill, bank statements, employment letters, payslips and letter from our OBGYN. My mum also had travel history to the US so that may have helped?

Hello all. Good day. Please i have a question about Nigeria's visa on arrival. Is it enough to just follow the instructions on Naija immigration website? I noticed one of the requirements was a return ticket, the visa on arrival is for a new born Nigerian thats' yet to get a passport, will this return ticket still be required? Thank you.

No documents. Lol.

We just said she my dad and siblings are still in naija.

Same too, we are sponsoring 100%. The only document she gave from her own end during the application was a copy of her passport.

Thats awesome then. Thank you.

1. No
2.No
3. Letter of introduction, your pay stub and statement. Also write a brief LOE, that you will be in charge of his expenses and accommodation.
4. Nope not needed. In fact you are always advised not to buy any ticket until your visa is approved. However, in his LOE, he can explain his itinerary.

The above was what we did for my mum and she got approved.

Hi Maziude,

Please what documents did your mum provide as proof of ties to naija?
I am sponsoring 100%.
Thank you.

I'm I'm moving to Canada in few months time (3-5month) and I'm very confused on what to do
I'm completely broke right now, so when I get there I want to start something right away to make money to feed and do so many things. I plan to start studying after my 6months time

I'm thinking of learning photography in Nigeria, I would like to know how lucrative that is in Canada(Ontario/Toronto) if I should learn the skill.

I already have my sewing skills, and I'm thinking of starting that immediately I get there. I plan to buy Ankara, like 20pieces and when I get there start making children dresses and selling, but the problem here is I don't have any friends there and I don't know how i will start that immediately i get there
Then I'm thinking I should look for a job there, but I'm not sure I would get job immediately because they usually ask of Canadian experience which I do not possess and I plan to do that when I get there as well
Modified: I have PR already

Best thing to do is start applying for Factory jobs and call centre jobs from Naija just before you come. Doing a business needs networks and you cant build the network you need immediately you come which is why the job route is best. If you are not married minimum wage in Ontario should afford you a room and transportation and food to give peace of mind while you figure out your plans.

Please oh! Important to Note - I know we are all security conscious as per Naija, but incase Canada don dilute am, take note.

Anyone that uses their vehicle for Uber Eats, do not leave your car running with the key in the ignition and go and inside to pick up the food.
There may (may because it has not been proven, but a pattern has been observed) be a theft ring operating especially GTA targeting Uber Eats drivers when they enter the restaurant to pick up their food.

How do you register for Ontario Health Card BEFORE you get accommodation?

I've been refused registration at Service Ontario cuz I don't have a document to show "proof of residency in Ontario".

Currently staying at AirBnB.

Urgent Pls!!!

Don't stress about this. They will accept a proof of address that's a letter from the bank posted to your address so you can request a bank statement when you have a more permanent address. Your card won't come till after 3 months it doesn't matter when you register. I couldn't register till almost after 2 months cos that was the earliest time a bank could post my statement.

I don't have a right to voice my opinion ? If you don't like my comments simply skip it. The more people voice their opinions, the better for everyone reading to get what they want out of it. Perhaps we have capitalists reading the thread who want to land full force and don't need time to reduce the shock ? Sista don't shame or belittle me for my comment. I skip a lot of comments I don't agree or care for.

Is it possible to leave people to their choices without shaming them for it. They want to see sky scrappers and have access to suya...is it on your POF?. If people are complaining about it being tough for them in Toronto you can give them an alternative based on your experience in Alberta. Not make it seem like they don't know what they are doing. The airport people land at is in Toronto, the weather is better, making it easier for people hustle and reduce the shock of moving from naija weather. Allow people abeg.

maternal:

My brotha/sista, I don talk am before. People even laughed at me earlier in the thread, saying I too dey talk about Alberta a lot. The province is unbelievable. Most people who land in the GTA like you said just want to see tall buildings, go chop suya/star with their friends on the weekend, then go to a owambe. Even these IT or other jobs they talk about, by the time to pay for transport, insane housing prices, etc how much does one have left living in the Toronto area ? How much ? My good friend, his sister, along with my cousin moved out of the rat race called the Toronto area as I pressured them to do so. Within 2 years they're all doing good and purchased new homes. Something they could never do in Toronto. Because you need a million dollars or more to get something decent in the GTA.

I have many more of these stories. But a lot of Nigerians are becoming wise as the Nigerian population/community has grown a lot over the years in Alberta. People are starting to come here first. The province leads the country in highest wages and immigrants are striving there. Even though the oil sector is struggling a bit, there are so many other decent jobs one can get. Lastly, taxes are much lower there, no PST.

hey... finally someone coming to Kitchener. lol!. Sorry I don't know a reliable response to your question. Maybe you can call the cab company you want to book from and explain the wahalla with timing, or you give them 1 hour later, say.. you will land at 7am, tell them to come at 8am or 8:30.. to give you time to sort out all landing wahalla.. incase you get searched or your flight is delayed.

Hello guys, please I need info on how this credit card stuff works. Let's say you want to withdraw cash from your credit card and will be paying back in some days time. Will the interest be charged daily. Cos someone was saying TD bank charges $22.99 daily until you finish paying back. How true?

Try to avoid withdrawing cash from your credit card as much as possible. Withdrawal and transfer. Just use for payments online and in store. And yes cash transactions on the credit card attract interest from the first day. For general info see this link

https://moneyfacts.co.uk/guides/credit-cards/beware-of-credit-card-cash-advances/

Also contact your card provider for more accurate info as regards your particular card.

Its good you put the "Nigerian" in quote. Because from what I understand you want your kids to be raised to be good people. Have respect for others irrespective of age, be polite, etc. All these they can learn in a foreign environment with close supervision from you and the grace of God. No too worry. Because we have kids that have been raised in naija and there's a lot to be said for their character.. and those raised abroad that are very disciplined. You can only do as much as you know to keep them on the straight and narrow, and hope that they toe the path you created based on God's direction (this is me assuming you believe in God through any of the religions please forgive my assumption if I'm wrong). More grease to your elbow as you strive to raise them to be wonderful people.

Good evening everyone. Please I need people to talk to me. While I'm excited at a fresh start in Canada and a chance for a better life for my son, my heart is heavy.
I am wondering if Nigeria will ever be sane enough to return to in my lifetime. I am wondering what will become of my children with respect to our ethics, morals, tradition and culture. How do i ensure my children remain "Nigerians"?
Those of you who have stayed in canada for years do you long for your own country?

Yep them don plenty everywhere. Had similar experience when I was looking for a flat on kijiji, a colleague mentioned she had same experience too. Anyway Naija 101 should keep us alert.. Canada no mean say foreign fraudsters no dey. Lets all be alert as usual. When I came here.. I was on one of them streaming sites, next thing I get one of those pop up ads n it says my computer had been locked and I should call "Microsoft" for a technician to unlock it. I called the number and someone with an accent picked and said I have to pay. My antenna started standing at that point, but I was freaking out, cos I couldn't leave the screen. I googled Miscrosoft care and the number was different from the one on my screen and the person was still blabbing. Anyway, I called my bro and he told me it was a scam, that I should just turn off the wifi and turn off my computer. na so I escape oh. While this was going on, I called my bank immediately and blocked all my cards "forst".. This happened less than a week after I landed so I was pretty shocked.

jelmusboy:
SCAM ALERT

I was checking through Kijiji for rent today and I stumbled on a two bedroom house in Etobicoke for $800 per month. I contacted the owner and he sent the house description to me. He said he works with the United Nations and have been transferred to Vancouver from Ontario, so he is renting his house out to someone who can take care of the house. In fact, his offer was awesome. I assured him that I take care of his house if he rent it out to me.

Immediately, he requested for my personal details and few history like an authentic landlord. I was playing along. He now said he is not around that he will send the keys to the house via FedEx overnight delivery and I should proceed with payment. As someone who has stayed with Yahoo boys in a flat before and still have them as friends, I know where he was heading to.

I told him he should send the keys that I will make the payment immediately I get the keys. He objected that he will have to pay to send the keys. I told him to send the keys and I pay for postage in addition to the rent. He said it doesn't work like that. Later, he requested that I should send $200 then, I laughed and I said to myself that this guy doesn't know who he is dealing with. It is God's favour that didn't make me become Yahoo boy because I had everything in my disposal to become one some years ago.

I just ended my conversation with him by telling him that he doesn't know the tips and tricks of SCAM. He is dealing with a bloody African man.

So guys, beware of scammers who will pose as landlords. The house hunt continues

Also, what about her work experience here in Nig? cant it be of use if she gets letters from her employers?

It all depends on her current status in Canada because she will already have profile on the Immigration portal. Let me use this case to give you an example.

This person came here just after finishing NYSC in naija.
Did 2 PGCerts, Got 3 yrs work permit.
Worked in required NOC for 2 years
Created Express ENtry profile Sept,2018 Still given same ID from all applications.
Was told they were eligible for 2 streams (forgot to ask what exact streams were mentioned)
Received ITA at the next draw.
Used Employment letter from Current Canadian Employment since it matched NOC code requirements.
(So your sister may need naija letter if she has enough points to get ITA)
Used Canada Bank Statement
Still had to do WES for naija degree
wrote IELTS but was able to get enough points with 6.5 in one of the parts
Still needed police report from naija
Does not need to do finger prints
Hasn't gotten any update yet.

Hope this gave you some direction.

Yes she will need IELTS and she can write in Canada. She should go to the IRCC website and use the CRS tool to check her score based on her current profile. Suggesting this option if this is not her first or second degree she is going to school for and she has enough work experience in the required NOC codes. For proof of funds.. She will present her Canadian account statement so long has she has legal status in Canada. basically look through the IRCC website. All the info required is there.

wow
thank you so much. but she is working as a student. doesnt that count?
please i would like to know the other requirements needed. does she needs the IELTS too? if yes, can she do it in Canada.
would she be needing her statement of account here in Nigeria again? she doesnt have any money there....lol
i appreciate the knowledge you have shared. please help me answer this if you can. thank you

Edakun brothers and sisters. Help me answer my questions below. Ese.
When did you land? You are not eligible for OHIP till after 3 months from the first time you stepped into Ontario. You will need a proof address to complete the application process and they will only accept mail that was posted to your address e.g. Bank statement posted to you. they will not accept a stamped letter from the bank. (That was my experience). For travel insurance I believe you should be able to buy from naija, If Mansard and co don't work, try Blue Cross.
