HeavenlyBang:Mehn, nostalgia ![]() |
Praxtech:Have you seen Extraction on Netflix? Chris Hemsworth really put the SBC to the test during a high speed maneuver. Great car when it actually drives and a money pit when something small breaks. |
Praxtech:No repairs why? Only cars I love better than a Corolla are the Mercedes A class and the Honda Civic. And Benz mechanics don't like snooping around a w169. |
banky3w:At least it's a corolla and costs far less than an average Base Charger. Even with all that "padding" its crash tests are not phenomenal. ![]() |
HeavenlyBang:That's some decent power to just about keep up with pretty much anything on the road. When I grow old, I'll get a German for keeps until death does us part. Until then, value for money first and foremost! |
HeavenlyBang:Is it the LFX or the LGX engine? Sh*t looks scary and the interior is pretty decent for an American car. This baby aint cheap, 5-7k USD purchase price alone. Trucking, Shipping and clearing (partial duty ) will easily drive total costs to 11k-12k USD |
AmuDimpka:The truth is Mercs don't really burn gas, believe me high end Japs are right there with their German counterparts when it comes to the frequency of visiting fuel stations. I'm not adding American cars because those literally live at Fuel stations and Mechanic workshops |
HeavenlyBang:NEVER heard of the ATS before. Time to run to Youtu.be and wiki. Hasta la Vista Our man for Canada go run am always, na to gather the bread first. |
HeavenlyBang:Got a buyer already. Will take a 30-35% initial purchase price hit (this can be factored as depreciation anyway). Hopefully he does not chicken out when the time is right. He'll be coming from an 08 Grand Cherokee with the 3.7L V6 - What could possibly go wrong? Honestly bro, I am tired - you can't blend in, it's always odd when packed along other cars. And I just think I wanted it, not that I really had need for all that deafening exhaust note. Will keep you posted and maybe I'll try a Cadillac CTS next. Only disadvantage is American cars interiors are so bland and uninspiring. I mean just look at the image below, only thing remotely nice is the Sirius touchscreen radio with handsfree connectivity and HDD 9icetoo:No mind them, they should have let the Corolla gain on them, then flex their muscle. I guess they were scared that a puny Corolla running at 160-170km on a freeway will likely roar @6000 RPMs and still use less fuel and the true position is they may end up playing catch-up.
|
HeavenlyBang:I no dey waste fuel unnecessarily my brother, it won't be a proper race same like my colleague's w203 c320. The gap wasn't fair and not for his lack of effort. Could hear the M112 cry and whine but my RPM never got past the 4th mark, in fact no kickdowns from Ugep to Calabar today. I, for one will never go up against an Infiniti v6 from 2007 or a proper BMW or Lexus v6, talkless of their 8 cylinder counterparts. Once owned an M35 with quad exhausts briefly and I know what those modafukas can do on a freeway. Sold it the moment i couldn't get a proper mechanic to fix a burnt top and the g*dforsaken CPS issues.I no come this world to learn how to fix motor. I know who I can oppress and I stay in my lane, once had a G37 try to bait me for a race in a W221 S550 - looked at my fuel guage and refused to fall for that nonsense, I just give am space, na Port Harcourt, all of us go reach der las las! P.S will sell the charger December/January
|
HeavenlyBang:No mind those lazy drivers, they blocked the Corolla and positioned themselves for proper acceleration. Anyways I'm not talking about their petty race, I'm referring to that truck that went past the both of them like nothing in the oncoming lane. |
dannybrasky:Mehn, exhaust note sef humble my guy! |
dannybrasky: ![]() Who else saw that black truck come through? |
Lexusgs430:Why are you like this? ![]() |
I can relate to the last two comments |
You didn't state your budget. How much are you willing to pay for one? last time I checked it still ran, don't know if it still does. Slight rust in the tyre well, interior is 50-60%, the amount you are willing to part with will inform my decision to drive to and fro 300 kms to send pictures. |

Weyreypey - travelled home today and was surprised to find this still packed. Has been for the last 5 years or so. Was always oblivious to its existence whenever I came around, but not today. She's still beautiful, had an engine transplant 8 years ago. Tried to start it today, sadly it cranked but didn't start. I'll try a new battery tomorrow and have the interior cleaned as well as the tyres (tyres are available in the garage), at least someone has to keep driving her around. She'll be 24 years old in Nigeria next month.
|
weyreypey:Your express ways are in good condition, come and drive in Cross River State, Akwa Ibom and Benue states. Ask even kingreignn or Theconglomerate, diportivo what they would rather drive on these roads - an S Class or a Hilux? They've been here done that. |
Baba for the boys! |
weyreypey:Baba no be insecurity alone, common sense dictates that a car that uses 11-12 litres for 100km city driving, is more economical than one that uses 20-21 litres for the same hustle. Besides the picanto uses way less than the Corolla sef, just that it's way uglier! |
rationalmind:Baba I dey mind my business these days, people dey conveniently forget say there's a difference between being 'quick' and 'fast'. Most people forget just how fast government escort trucks such as Hiluxs and Rangers are. I've gone against a Hilux with an S Class and lost (maybe I'm still a shitty driver or real life isn't the movies), you will definitely be quicker and even faster but due to the great shape of our Nigerian roads, the small gains you make will definitely be wiped out once you slowdown for a pothole or reach an untarred stretch and can literally feel the road noise/tyre vibrational feedback on your steering. My people talk say pikin wer never go another person farm no go gree say him papa farm no big reach

Apart from the usual Nigerian factor, this article is an interesting read why our lecturers are reluctant to sign on https://www.nairaland.com/5594369/ippis-ten-reasons-why-lecturers |
HeavenlyBang:I dey tell you. I come dey vex for my anger management sef |
conductor260:. |
shortgun:You're 100% correct, we have to learn to unlearn sometimes. weyreypey:Lol - now that's one ugly japmobile. dannybrasky:Mehn, the phrase "drive it like you stole it" comes to mind ![]() |
weyreypey:Lol, if the AC works on your w210 I just might borrow it. Will I take it over the Corolla? Probably not! |
dannybrasky:Mehn, misdiagnosis and a whole lotta sh*t. That modafuka never gave up, still did Ogoja to Calabar and back every f*king week, that's about 700kms on the highway on a weekly basis and at least 300 town driving within that same week. But in the end, I love Benzs, I still drive my dad's S-Class. Will I buy one with my hard earned cash? No! Will I borrow one to drive? Hell ya! |
shortgun:I know we've had our differences in the past but this is one statement I can't fault you on! It's haram to compare the M112 with anything fitted in a Corolla or Camry over the past 30 years. I drove that engine with a blown top for more than 9 months. |
