Politics › Re: Imo Residents In Blackout After Attack On NLC President by eddie7: 4:42am On Nov 03, 2023
By Lauretta Onorchie

We are genuinely glad that our Police was on hand to rescue him. We only criticise when the Police is high handed but fail to commend when they do well.

Let me spell it out for you:
1. Imo State off season gubernatorial election is coming up on the 11th of November.

2. Joe Ajaero, A Labour Party Chieftain from Imo State, went home to mobilise support for his political party.

3. Instead of calling it a Labour Party campaign, he foolishly called it a protest.

4. But when some workers arrived for the protest, they realised it was a Labour Party Rally.

5. Those who turned out, were angry at the deception. Fight broke out.

6. Joe Ajaero and some others were "woundjured".

7. If not for the timely intervention of the Nigeria Police, who rescued him and others, and took them into protective custody, it could have been fatal.

8. Thank you to the @PoliceNG. We appreciate you for this and hope you continue in this manner.

Politics › Reno Omokri Have This To Say On Godfatherism And Nigeria Politics by eddie7(op): 1:58pm On Nov 02, 2023
RENO OMOKRI HAVE THIS TO SAY....

Political godfatherism in Nigeria can hardly work outside Yoruba land. It can possibly work amongst the Hausa and Fulani. Just possibly. Not certainly. But anywhere else, it is likely to fail. Only the Yoruba have that centuries-old culture of respect for age and authority that makes it possible for a godson to stay loyal to a godfather when he has tasted power.

Look at the manner in which Governor Biodun Oyebanji prostrated flat for Chief Afe Babalola. And mind you, Chief Afe Babalola is not his political godfather. Oyebanji became Governor courtesy of Bola Tinubu. Yet, he submitted himself to Chief Afe Babalola. That is the Omoluabi culture that made Colonel Fajuyi reject the offer to surrender Major General Ironsi to Northern officers and replace him as Military Head of State. He chose to die, rather than abandon his guest. If they reverse was the case, Nigerian history would have been different.

When General Babangida and his colleagues decided to overthrow President Shehu Shagari, they approached General Obasanjo and told him they would hand power to him. Obasanjo told General IBB and his group that he was very much interested, but he could not accept because he could not in good conscience take power from a man he handed power over to. And that if President Shagari had lost and another President he did not give power to was on the throne, then he could have accepted. Please research it.

Tinubu installed a total of ten Governors in Lagos, the Southwest, South-South, and North-central, including Fashola, Aregbesola, Amosun, Ajimobi, Fayemi, Oshiomhole, Abiodun, Oyetola, AbdulRazaq, and Ambode. He did not install Akeredolu, but he anointed him.

Of the ten governors he installed and the eleventh he anointed, none of them turned against him except Ambode, and after he unseated Ambode, he and Ambode reconciled.

In terms of record sales, Wizkid is the most successful artiste in Africa. Do you know when he began to explode? After he prostrated for Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, AKA King Sunny Ade. Whilst still prostrated, KSA uttered only three words. He said, 'God bless you!'

If you cannot bow to any man then how can you rise by the hand of a man to whom God has given influence? To be anointed, one man must be standing and the other must be bowing. That is how Samuel anointed Saul and David. That is how Elijah anointed Hazael and Jehu.

And that is how the Archbishop of Canterbury crowned King Charles III. By standing ABOVE him.

It says a lot about the cultural sophistication of the Yoruba. They are where they are due to respect for age and authority. Respect goes up from the younger Yoruba, and care goes down from the older Yoruba. They have kept their omoluabi culture, and their culture has kept them.

Like is said two days ago:

If we were all like Yoruba people on Earth, there would be no war, fight, hatred, and animosity. Everywhere will just be cruise, party, fun, and enjoyment.

Yes, this man (NLC President) has become HIGHLY partisan.

However, even in the ear of the militarily junta, NLC Presidents had never been this shoddily treated.

The Imo State 'show of shame', must be roundly condemned, investigated and any found culprit appropriately dealt with, under the law.
Politics › Seyi Tinubu - First Son Of The Federal Republic by eddie7(op): 5:49am On Nov 02, 2023
*Seyi Tinubu - First son of the Federal Republic*

I think the President was playing to the gallery by telling us that he saw his son's picture amongst those who sneak to attend the Federal Executive Council meeting.

If you ask me, I think the President tried to win some brownie points with that revelation. There was no need to tell us, as we didn't really need to hear that his nosey parker son has decised to be part of state taking decision.

The main reason why his statement didn't catch fire with me and many right thinking people is that this same boy has flown our Presidential Jet on personal jaunts, is running around with more security than the Chief of Army Staff and State Governors, has a free reign around the villa and generally has been carrying himself like a self imposed emperor, so why won't he feel that it is his inalienable right to attend FEC meetings where his input as a very influential member of the regime will be needed.

Anybody who appears surprised at this or jubilates at the Presidents 'courageous' statement must be a very poor student of his political trajectory.

In his journey from an ambitious Chicago returnee, thru the senate to his emergence as the most influential and powerful person in modern day Nigeria, up to the Presidency, a respect for due process and institutions have always been very challenging.

We have seen a journey that has bent or in some cases broken very critical rules of engagement in a never before seen very aggressive engagement with power to the point that we now feel like a captured people and not free citizens of the largest democracy in the black world.

For the first time in our history, we are now saddled with a mercurial family with strategic members carving out stupendous power and privilege for themselves leaving us at their regal mercy.

From a daughter who makes National broadcast under the coat of arms and after the National anthem(?), to a very powerful first lady and deservedly so being a Senator to a son who simply feels that he can be the Scar face of our time, roller scatting with the very best of our security architecture running behind him while kidnappers and terrorists run amok in the land.

Mr Seyi Tinubu is not a teenager, from the pictures I have gleaned, having never met him but seen him from a distance is that of a man very far from his teenage years and as such should have imbued some level of responsibility that would see him being an asset to his father's regime, rather than being a liability and adding more problems than Atiku could ever be capable of doing.

He should understand and be made to understand that this mandate does not include him and as such his services especially at the highest level of Executive decision taking is really not needed. He could limit his advisory role to a father and son fire side chat instead of an embarrassing appearance at the FEC.

If this was even a young man with any delienable value he was bringing one would have pushed for an SA position but a cursory look at his background throws up nothing really firm in terms of capacity in any known sector that one could say OK let's take advantage and get his services for free except we would like to leverage on his social media and tik tok expertise to strengthen the image and communication capacity of the regime, then just may be we can possibly give him an opportunity to make a presentation at the FEC and not carry a stool and sit at the back listening to discussions over a bottle of beer.

Me I am even surprised that he has not convened a meeting of Children of political office holders making himself life President with a charter and constitution that will have the Supreme Court endorse such that he will brooke no challenge on his authority.

He should do that, after all his sister is the Iya oloja of the Federation, His step mother is the First Lady of the Federation and his father is the President of the Country, it will only just be fair that he too as First Son of the Federation must be given his well deserved respect and honour.

Make him second Vice President of Nigeria abeg make we hear word.

Thank u

*Duke of Shomolu*

As War Between Israel & Palestine Enters anoter week, it is worthy to note that we are either taking side with humanity or religious bigotry

Before you take a side on religious bigotry against humanity, kindly know these facts;

1) The total population of Israel is 9.364m equivalent to the population of Kaduna State, occupying a land mass of 22,145sq.km, far less than Adamawa State' 36,917sq.km

2) Of the above population, 1.7m are Muslims representing 18% while Christians are just 185,000 equivalent to 1.9%. While Jewish religion adherents have about 73.6% of the total population.

3) From the above figures, it can be seen that Israeli Muslims are nine times more than Israeli Christians in Israel.

4) The Israeli Defense Force has an army of 169,500 (active personnel). Of this number, only 150 are Christians while Muslims are 606, the rest are Jewish Adherents.

5) 40% of #Jerusalem are Palestinians.

6) Therefore, if you think the fight between Israel and Palestine is a Christian/Muslim War, you're wrong, even if you tag it a religious war between Jewish Adherents and Muslims, you're equally wrong. It's a war to claim territory and it predates these religions.

7) As the War rages, know that people are dying and only the bigots will pray for Palestinians to be wiped or the Israel to be wiped.

cool In conclusion, the scripture in Psalms 122:6 mandates us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. In my understanding, the peace of the world is hinged on the peace of Jerusalem. May God Almighty intervene in the situation for peace to reign. #Shalom!

Long Post Alert! Grab a seat.

1. Abraham lived in the land of Ur, around modern day Iran/Iraq.

2. Abraham became Gods friend and God promised him the land flowing with milk and honey.

3. The land flowing with milk and honey belonged to the Canaanites.

4. Abraham being the father of the Jews left Ur heading to the voice from above he arrived Canaan.

5. He lived in Canaan, died in Canaan, his children lived in Canaan died in Canaan. From Isaac to Jacob.

6. Then Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt.

7. Mind you, the Canaanites still lived in those lands with the Jews.

8. Joseph sent for his father Jacob and his brothers according to the Bible. They escaped the ravaging hunger in Canaan land.

9. The Jews lived in Egypt for 400years in slavery at some point after Joseph and the Pharaoh who knew him died.

10. Then arose Moses, he liberated the jews and headed back home, to the land flowing with milk and honey.

11. The Jews walked the wilderness 40years due to stubbornness from their side according to the Bible.

12. Moses died without stepping his feet into Canaan. Joshua took over.

13. Moses had fought and defeated tribes they found along the way.

14. Joshua completed Moses work and the Jews settled in Canaan, in the land they wrestled away from the Canaanites with God on their side (according to the Bible).

15. Jerusalem was still under the Jebusites, unconquered.

16. The judges (from Joshua to Caleb, Gideon, Samson, Samuel was the last judge) ruled the new national Israel (named after the rascal Jacob, you can beg to differ)

17. The Israelites cried, we need a King. Then came in Saul, David, Solomon till the division of the kingdom into Israel and Judea.

18. David being a successful war King conquered Jerusalem from the Jebusites and made Jerusalem his capital city. (That's the first claim the Jews have concerning Jerusalem).

19. Solomon the wise built the temple in Jerusalem (another claim the jews have).

20. The kingdom spilt into two after Solomon's death, the Northern territory had its capital in Samaria and the Southern territory had its capital in Jerusalem.

21. The Jews still had control over their territories fighting off invaders till the Babylonian's and Assyrian's came around.

22. They plundered the Northern territory and the Southern territory taking the Jews into exile and different point in history. This is where King Nebuchadnezzar makes grand entry.

23. The Jews were in exile in Babylon till King Cyrus defeated the Babylonians and the Jews returned home (all story dey bible).

24. The Jews again was conquered by the magnificent Alexander the Great(he died of malaria aged 32 after conquering almost half the then known world, he died in Babylon after his troops demanded to go home in far away India).

25. A King arose, probably from the disintegrated empire of Alexander. He wanted to destroy the Jewish way of life beginning from Israel.

26. The Jew's fought back under Judas Maccabeus (book of Maccabees details the story). The Maccabeus after defeating the King established a dynasty, the Hasmonean Dynasty under Simon Maccabaeus the brother of Judas Maccabeus. The dynasty ruled Israel for 103years with Jerusalem as its capital till the Roman's destroyed it.

27. Everybody say hello to the Romans. The Romans ruled Israel from 63BCE till 390CE. The Roman's ruled Israel dividing it into provinces (so you know, the Roman's killed Jesus).

28. After the split of the Roman Empire in 390CE, the East Roman Empire which became Christianized was known as the Byzantine Empire ruled Israel.

29. A certain Mohammed received light from Allah and proclaimed a new religion in the Middle East rivalling Christianity and Judaism. With no distinct authority in Israel after the collapse of the Byzantium Empire, the Arabs ruled Israel for almost 1000years expanding Islam religion and Christianity was dying till the crusaders.

30. Here comes Pope Urban II and the crusaders to the rescue of Christianity. With the growing influence of the Arabs and Islam religion and the threatening of Jerusalem by the Arabs, the Pope in Europe cried out in November 27 1095 that the Holy sites of Christianity would be over run by infidels(Arabs) and Christianity would go extinct. He promised everyone who would partake in the crusade "heaven at last"(like the Lords Chosen says) and complete blotting away of one's sins.

31. Everyone ran around answering the Pope's call. Who wouldn't want heaven at last? The Pope said "If you die in the crusade, automatic ticket to heaven". (google about the Crusades)
PS: your church crusade got it's name from the Pope's call in 1095.

32. Jerusalem was liberated from the Arabs who had ruled for a thousand years or more. The crusaders hated jews, killed them, sold some to slavery. They had one goal, stop the Arabs and magnify Christianity in Jerusalem.(today Judaism is the major religion in Israel Islam in number 2, then you have Christianity in 3rd position)

33. The crusade didn't end with the first one though. They had 8 more Crusades with "saviours" of Christianity coming from Europe to "save" Jerusalem and Israel.

34. The crusaders hunted Jews both in the Middle East and in Europe. One of the major reasons the crusades collapsed.

35. After the collapse of the crusades, the Mamluks from Egypt arose, they raided Israel and surrounding territories for centuries and placed a great part of Israeli lands under their authority. Again, Jews were the main focus of assault and killings, Jews ran away from their lands as they had been doing for centuries after the Hasmonean Dynasty fell to the Romans.

36. All hail the Ottomans, Turks( old name of the country Turkey was the Ottoman Empire). The ottomans ran the affair of Israel for 400 years. Just so you know, Turkey was purely a Christian nation prior to the conquest from the Arabs.

37. The Ottomans ruled till 1917 when they lost the First World War (1914-1918). The British took over the Palestine region (Israel included).

38. A large number of jews began returning home, some fleeing the killings in Russia, Germany, in fact, the entire Europe. Germany blamed the Jews for it's loss during the 1st WW.

39. With the tension in Europe and another World War looming, the Jews formed an Agency that would protect them when another threat arose. The Agency(Zionist or Zionism) proposed "a State of Israel". It would be the first uniting factor for Jews almost 2000years after the Hasmonean dynasty was destroyed. The state would be located in former Jewish territory currently occupied by Palestinians (they claim lineage from The Canaanites).

40. In 1938 WW2 broke out. Jews in Fascist states were slaughtered. In Cech, Poland, Austria, and especially Germany(Hitler killed 6million). Hitler went on a spree to wipe the world clean of Jews, they were vermins to Hitler. In North Africa, Jews were used as slaves during the war. (read about the holocaust and ghettos)

41. With increasing deaths of Jews in the war, the US introduced a programme that would help Jews emigrate to the US(Albert Einstein benefited from this programme).

42. After the defeat of the Axis powers(Germany,Japan, and it's allies) by the Allied Forces( UK, France, USSR, USA and it's allies) the United Nations was formed and it accepted a proposal much to the disagreement of the Arabs to the establishment of a State of Israel in Palestine.

43. In 1948, the UN gave a portion of land to the Jews, they lived in constant hostility with her Arab neighbours. Israel controlled the West side of Jerusalem and Palestine controlled the East side.

44. The bone of contention was, with Islam's third holiest site in Jerusalem, the Arabs claimed the city as theirs. And with Judaism holiest site in Jerusalem, the Jews said it was theirs quoting history. The Palestine said the whole land UN gave to Israel has been theirs since creation, that they were they children of the Canaanites the Jews chased away on their coming back from Egypt during Moses and Joshua's time.

45. The whole Arab world gathered and faced Israel, in an attempt to destroy Israel forever and stamp Arab dominance on the land.

46. Israel was backed by the US and UK covertly so they told the Arabs to do their worse.

47. Israel got word that the Arabs would strike and the strike would mean their end. They had to do something fast for their survival depended on it. In 1967, the Israeli army attacked the Arabs taking them by surprise. In 6days, the war ended with Israel the outright winner. As war spoils, Israel took control of the whole of Jerusalem, the West bank, Gholan heights which weren't among the territories the UN gave them in 1948.

48. Israel's legislative branch( the kessent) named Jerusalem it's capital much to the chagrin of the Arabs.

49. Israel developed weapons of mass destruction to keep it's people safe as its whole neighbour's wants it's head on a platter.

50. The USA under the presidency of Trump opens it's embassy in Jerusalem validating Israel's claim to the one of the most talked about cities in the world. The Palestines are crying foul and running around looking for help. All terrorists organisations in the Middle East has called for the fall of Israel.

51. Hard times ahead.

Unraveling the Cycle of Coups in West and Central Africa: A Call for Transformative Leadership

*Introduction* .
The resurgent wave of coups sweeping across West and Central Africa has ignited discussions about the region's political stability and governance. In dissecting the root causes of these upheavals, it becomes evident that a historical backdrop of leadership failures and the lingering vestiges of colonialism have contributed significantly. The legacy of subservience, the tragic fate of resistance leaders like Thomas Sankara, and the prevalence of self-serving rulers have collectively fueled a vicious cycle of political unrest. Amidst this tumultuous landscape, lies a crucial juncture for change, a chance to redefine leadership, address income disparities, and foster continental unity for a brighter future.

*A Legacy of Subservience and Tenacious Resistance:*
The echoes of post-colonial leadership in various West and Central African nations often resonate with accusations of being beholden to former colonial powers, especially in the case of countries with historic ties to France. This perpetuating pattern has kept leaders prioritizing external allegiances over the needs of their own people. Figures such as Thomas Sankara, who dared to challenge this paradigm, tragically met their demise as their principled resistance posed a direct challenge to the status quo.

*Leadership Failures and Neglected Masses:*
The proliferation of leadership shortcomings has exacerbated the marginalization and impoverishment of a significant portion of the populace. Leaders who put personal gain before the well-being of their citizens have exacerbated economic and social inequalities, leaving large swaths of the population disenchanted. The recent events in Niger, where public support for a military-led coup was palpable, serve as a stark reminder of the depth of public frustration with prevailing leadership.

*A Resounding Call for Meaningful Transformation:*
Amidst the present flurry of coups, it is imperative to recognize their significance as symptoms of a broader systemic ailment. The readiness of citizens to back these coup d'états underscores the urgency of real leadership committed to advancing the freedom and prosperity of their nations. Coup leaders must seize this pivotal moment to break free from the cycle of failed governance, pledging to enact inclusive policies that tackle income disparities and prioritize the holistic welfare of the populace.

*Forging Unity for an Envisioned Tomorrow:*
The ongoing coup developments extend beyond mere upheaval, presenting an unprecedented chance to redefine leadership paradigms and foster continental cohesion. The entrenched income gap plaguing many African nations can be narrowed through strategies promoting economic growth, job creation, and equitable resource allocation. By rallying behind a united African narrative, the region can emerge as a formidable economic and defense force, capable of safeguarding against external threats and restoring its historical global prominence.

*Conclusion:*
The recent resurgence of coups in West and Central Africa casts a spotlight on the intrinsic failures of leadership, historical puppetry, and the plight of marginalized populations. While these coups may perpetuate a cycle of instability, they equally hold the potential for catalyzing transformative change. True leadership must transcend personal gain, bridge income disparities, and foster continental cohesion. As the region grapples with these challenges, it is paramount to draw wisdom from history and steer toward authentic emancipation, unity, and enduring tranquility.

Wonderful!

United States of America with most refineries (129).

When they say " God bless America ", I dont think it is because the people who reside in USA are so religious.

I think it is more about the determination of the people towards solving challenges facing them.

Hospitals, Refineries, etc, are established in Nigeria and people (Nigerians, muslims and Christians) are employed to manage them.

Within few hours, mismanagement and embezzlement of funds will take over.

My Yoruba people say 'A se ni nse ara e'.

What we sow is exactly what we harvest!

We mismanaged our 3 refineries and all packed up simultaneously, some years ago.

Days of reckoning are here!

You see, there is no magic that Heaven will do if we wont do what is right!

Critical thinking towards problem solving, doing what is right and at the right time, are vital to a prosperous and peaceful Nigeria.

Romance › Opinion: Having A Bad Attitude In A Relationship by eddie7(op): 7:04am On Jul 29, 2023
Having a Bad Attitude in a Relationship

It's better to be single and find peace within yourself than to be in a relationship with someone who has a bad attitude. Wait for the right time appointed by God.

If you are giving your all to someone and it's not enough for them, you are giving your best to the wrong person. Be cautious.

For Men:
If you are cheating, you are losing more than you think. You may believe you are winning the game, but you are actually losing. You may be able to deceive some women, but you cannot fool your Creator. You will face the consequences of your actions, so it's time to change and grow. Juggling multiple women does not make you a man. Being honest, loyal, and faithful to just one woman does! You cannot marry or sleep with every woman you encounter. There will always be beautiful women around, but you need to learn self-discipline and control. Choose one and make her your priority. It will save you from financial troubles, wasted time, unnecessary drama, and diseases. Also, there is no prize for having numerous sexual partners. Instead, you are hindering your own blessings and shortening your life. Please change your ways.

For Ladies:
Please refrain from seeking attention and publicity by posting revealing photos on social media. Wearing skimpy dresses, with your breasts hanging out and your bottom exposed, may attract a lot of attention and likes from men. However, a real man would never marry a woman who dresses immodestly and lacks self-respect. Remember, your choice of clothing speaks volumes about your character.

Remember, anything precious is always hidden and covered, like gold. Love and treasure your body. Exposing your unclothedness to the world only diminishes your value. Please change your ways.

Lastly, it is crucial that we put an end to the wrong attitudes and behaviors.

For Men:
Treat your woman in the same way you would want another man to treat your mother or daughter.

For Women:
Treat your man in the same way you would want another woman to treat your father or son.

Let's do the right thing, and God will guide us. I pray that any negative declarations working against your chance of getting married and having children are canceled now, in the name of God. Even if it seems impossible, God assures you that you will still find love and have a family, in the name of God.

Through all his appointments,he make sure he appointed his Late Elder brother's wife as Commissioner, the Son of Late Elder brother is now the Chairman Local Government Service Commission, while Ede Sons are also been appointed into key ministries and Agencies, leaving others with non important offices to hold, even went ahead to relegate those who struggled with him,the likes of PETER ACTION,ARAJ,DOTUN BABAYEMI,and other prominent leaders of PDP in Osun state.

From his appointment,we all can see how he appointed a BARRISTER as COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH,while there are lot of capable MEDICAL GURUS in their party, but rather went ahead to put a man who doesn't have any medical knowledge or skill at all.

further more he appointed himself as COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS, without any knowledge or skills in the filed of CIVIL ENGINEERING.

Also he appointed Baba 60yrs plus the Deputy Governor as COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH,this shows that no responsible youth in OSUN PDP to mount that ministry or they are just using YOUTHS in OSUN PDP to WAIL AND ATTACK,they have no value other than been a POLITICAL BANDIT!!!

BELOW IS THE ANALYSIS OF ADELEKE APPOINTMENTS TO HIMSELF AND EDE!!

DSS INVESTIGATES 25THJULY, 2023, FEDERAL HIGH COURT, IKOYI, LAGOS INCIDENT

The public will recall that Mr Godwin Emefiele, suspended CBN Governor, was arraigned at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on 25th July, 2023. The Service has noted the incident that took place between its staff and those of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and wish to state as follows:

i. The incident was unfortunate and does not in any way reflect the professional disposition of the DSS;
ii. The Service did not and would never encourage the incident under reference;

iii. The Service has tremendous respect for the Judiciary as an Arm and Institution of Government and will not go out of its way to undermine it. The DSS recognises the Judiciary as a critical component in nation building, national development and security management. Also, the Service has robust working relationship with sister Security and Law Enforcement agencies including the NCoS;

iv. While noting that the personnel from both Agencies exhibited undue overzealousness, the Service has further initiated detailed investigations into the matter. This is with a view to identifying the role played by specific persons as well as undertaking disciplinary actions if necessary and drawing some lessons going forward.
For emphasis, the DSS has not broken any laws in handling the Emefiele Case despite efforts by some elements to skew the narratives to the contrary. The Service had since alerted the public of sinister plots to discredit its leadership. In pursuit of its assignments, it will strive to remain professional, maintain ethical standards and high sense of discipline. The Service will ensure that it will not be used for clout and fame chasing or delusional heroism. It will, however, remain focused on its national security mandate and, therefore, enjoin well-meaning Nigerians to support it in achieving the desired security goals for the nation. It is imperative to note that we have no other country but Nigeria. We should join hands, with love and tolerance, to build it.

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

BEAR WITH ME, PALLIATIVES UNDERWAY, PRESIDENT TINUBU APPEALS TO NIGERIANS

…Says Bretton Woods Institution, foreigners can’t solve Nigeria’s problems

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday in Abuja assured Nigerians that the framework for palliatives to remedy the effects of fuel subsidy removal is being worked out, explaining that the decision to phase out the subsidy was taken in the best interest of the country.

He said the decision would guarantee future prosperity.

President Tinubu gave the assurance when he received members of Class 1999 Governors who paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa.

18 of the former governors were present at the Council Chambers where the President met them. President Tinubu and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, also belong in the 1999 Class of Governors.

While appreciating his colleagues who served during the birth of the 4th Republic in 1999, President Tinubu appealed for more patience from Nigerians, saying the government would increase efforts to alleviate the pains of the subsidy removal and speed up the process.

He said the government would ensure a full-proof social security structure that will not be compromised, especially in cash-transfer.

“I understand that our people are suffering, yet there can be no childbirth without pain. The joy of childbirth is the baby. Relief comes after the pain. Nigeria is being reborn. It is a rebirth of the country for the largest number, over a few smugglers.

“Please tell the people to be a little patient. The palliative is coming. I am doing the arithmetics. I don’t want the cash-transfer to fall into wrong hands. I know it pinches and it is difficult. In the end, we will rejoice in the prosperity of our country,’’ he told the governors, who were led by former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion.

Speaking on the importance of national unity and citizens’ cooperation to forge a stronger country that caters for the interests of all, President Tinubu stated clearly that only Nigerians can build their country, adding that he is irrevocably committed to serving the country.

“We must put the country in the right direction. No European, no Bretton Woods institution will do it for us.”

The governors visited the President to congratulate him on the victory at the polls, his instructive and visionary decisions on the economy, and election as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

“We served as governors and sat in this Council Chamber. All I wanted was democracy and the salvation of the country. I never thought I was going to be here as President, but God Almighty has brought me here,’’ President Tinubu stated.

The President assured the governors and Nigerians that he would work towards “unity, equity, stability, and prosperity of the country’’.

“My commitment to that democratic value is unwavering. I am overwhelmed and honored by this large number present here,’’ he said.

“I have an open door policy. You are my advisers. We went into the pond and wrestled with the pig. We got dirty, and cleaned up. That is why I am here today.’’

President Tinubu noted that the country would not make meaningful progress without fixing electricity, assuring that his administration would harness gas resources and explore every opportunity to ensure stable power generation and supply.

On security, the President who had earlier met with Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State to review situation in the North-East, appealed to Nigerians, especially Plateau State, to sheath their swords and use dialogue in resolving conflicts, adding that issues of borders were man-made
and not created by God.

“We will do everything possible to stabilize the country,’’ he added.

The former governors urged the President to pursue his vision for a greater Nigeria with vigour, steadfastness, and resilience, expressing their support for development policies, and promising to provide the necessary social structure for actualization.

“We are here with you. We are your foot-soldiers, and you can tap into our experience. You are a person who believes in Nigeria. With your good leadership, Nigeria will take its place,’’ the Chairman, Class of 1999 Governors said.

He affirmed that they were 20 at the meeting, including President Tinubu, who was former Governor of Lagos State and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, former Governor of Benue State, while ten of their mates had passed on.

Other governors at the meeting with President Tinubu were Niyi Adebayo, Ekiti State, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, Abia State, Sen. Sam Egwu, Ebonyi State, Adamu Muazu, Bauchi State, Donald Duke, Cross River State, James Ibori, Delta State, Obong Victor Attah, Akwa Ibom State, Chimaroke Nnamani, Enugu State, Saminu Turaki, Jigawa State, and Sen. Aleiro Adamu, Kebbi.

Others were Olusegun Osoba, Ogun State, Adebisi Akande, Osun State, Sen. Joshua Dariye, Plateau State, Attahiru Bafarawa, Sokoto State, Ahmad Sani Yarima, Zamfara State, and Rev. Jolly Nyame, Taraba State.
