Irrespective of which divide or party you may belongs to, or the Candidate you may have supported, I think BAT deserves a part on the back from all of us. If we all agreed, he's on the right track, then it can't be out of place to say it as it is and, at least, to give him the needed encouragement.

Car Talk › 10 Ways To Reduce Fuel Consumption, Courtesy Of Mobil.* by eddie7(op): 6:15am On Jun 04, 2023
*If you must drive, here are 10 ways to reduce fuel consumption, courtesy of Mobil.*

Even though we are aware that engines need fuel to run, that does not mean you can’t make some small changes to help you gain some fuel savings.

1. Keep tires pumped up
Tires that are underinflated have a higher rolling resistance on the road. This means that with every kilometer traveled, your tires generate more friction and rolling resistance, and hence, will increase fuel consumption. If all your tires are underinflated by 10 psi, this could reduce fuel efficiency by up to 10%.

2. Lose the weight in your boot
For those with a habit of keeping everything and anything in the boot, in addition to emergency spares, think twice when loading up next time. Every extra 50kg your car puts on increases fuel consumption by 2%.

3. Drive with AC
Driving with the windows down at speeds faster than 80km/h causes a lot of wind resistance, and costs you a lot more fuel. Contrary to what you may think, in this situation, it’s simply more fuel efficient to drive with the aircon on.

4. Don’t go too fast or too slow
When cruising down a highway, your engine works hard to overcome wind resistance. You’ll burn up to 15% more fuel at 100 km/h and 25% more at 110 km/h. That might tempt you to drive slow, but if you drive slower than 50 km/h, your engine would drop to a lower gear, thus using up more fuel. In conclusion, a steady 50 – 90 km/h on the highway is best to achieve optimal fuel economy.

5. Remain steady when accelerating
Avoid revving your accelerator to a high revolutions per minute (RPM). It’s better for fuel economy, as your engine uses less fuel when it is revolving slower, at a lower RPM.

6. Avoid braking aggressively
Slamming on the brakes increases fuel consumption as you need to accelerate again later. This is especially true if you follow too closely behind the vehicle in front of you. Not to mention, tailgating is dangerous and something to avoid.

7. Cruise in top gear
If you’re driving an automatic car, make use of cruise control to keep your speed constant. And if you’re driving a manual car, maintain a higher gear when appropriate. In each of these instances, your engines go through less revolutions per minute (RPM) and will reduce your fuel consumption.

8. Practice predictive driving
Look to the road ahead and plan your next move. Instead of slamming on the brakes to a complete stop, try slowing down as you approach the red light. Or when reaching the foot of a hill, start accelerating as you edge closer to it rather than when you approach it. Avoid hard accelerations when moving your car from a complete stop, or climbing a hill as it will increase fuel consumption.

9. Plan your rush hour route
Stop-start traffic puts a lot of pressure on your engine, thus burns more fuel. When possible, plan your commute to and from work carefully to help you avoid the worst of peak traffic.

10. Don’t stay idle for long
If you are waiting for something or someone for more than three minutes, turn off your engine. You may not be moving but as long as your engine is on, it’s burning precious fuel

And a final word. Regular car servicing helps maintain your engine’s fuel efficiency. Engine parts work closely in tandem. If poorly maintained, sludge and corrosion will build-up between the parts making it difficult for the engine to work smoothly. This is also why engine oils are
n in the engine, combat sludge and improve fuel economy

Politics › Opinion: Fuel Price May Rise To Above N500 Per Litre by eddie7(op): 10:46am On May 30, 2023
FUEL PRICE MAY RISE TO ABOVE N500 PER LITRE

*WHY?*
Fuel Subsidy is gone, as announced by *PBAT*

*WHAT IS FUEL SUBSIDY?*
In simple terms, this is when the government gives financial support to oil companies so as to reduce the price of fuel for it's citizens.

The FG spends about *₦40.1 billion* daily, subsidizing every litre of petrol consumed in Nigeria by at least ₦600

*WHAT HAPPENED* !!!
*President Bola Ahmed Tinubu* during his inauguration today May 29th, 2023, has stated that *Fuel Subsidy* was not included in this year's budget, also it's no longer sustainable by the federal government, hence, *it's gone* .

*WHAT DOES IT MEAN?*
This simply means that the government will stop subsidizing the cost of fuel and the price will now be controlled by market forces (supply and demand)

*A GOOD POLICY OR BAD POLICY?*
Truth be told, very few top Nigerians are the ones enriching themselves with *fuel Subsidy* .

Let me cite some examples;
1. Some oil marketers buy this fuel from Nigeria depot's at say N180 per litre and take it to neighboring West African countries such as Niger, Cameroon, Chad and sell it for above N500 per litre

2. NNPC now generates zero revenue, with the excuse that 90% of the revenue was used to service fuel Subsidy

3. Nigeria is in major debt

Therefore,
*It's a good policy* .

```This removal however is coming at a time where common Nigerians are trying hard to cope with high cost of foodstuffs and materials.```
But the deed has been done.
*WHAT TO EXPECT?*
It is expected that the *cost of fuel will spike* due to the announcement, even as long queues resumed today at major filling stations.
It is predicted that the cost of PMS (Petrol) will rise significantly, be prepared to an estimated of at least N500 per liter.
*FINAL ADVICE!!!*
```1. Don't live above your means, spend less than you earn
2. Go for only what you can afford and avoid borrowing what you can repay
3. Get multiple sources of income
4. Eat well and sleep well
5. Thinking too much will not solve any problem, it will only increase your health problems
6. Help those you can, in whatever way you can
7. Ask for help when you need it
8. Pray at all times```

*May this new government favour us*

THE SECOND VULTURE

*In the 1990's there was a widely circulated photo of a vulture waiting for a starving little girl to die and feast on her corp. That photo was taken during the 1993/94 famine in Sudan, by Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist, who later won the Pulitzer Prize for this 'amazing shot'.*

*However, as Kevin Carter was savouring his feat and being celebrated on major news channels and networks worldwide for such an 'exceptional photographic skill', he lived just for a few months to enjoy his supposed achievement and fame, as he later got depressed and took his own life!*

*Kevin Carter's depression started, when during one of such interviews (a phone-in programme), someone called in and asked him what happened to the little girl. He simply replied, "I didn't wait to find out after this shot, as I had a flight to catch..." Then the caller said, "I put it to you that there were two vultures on that day, one had a camera".*

*Thus, his constant thought of that statement, later led to depression and he ultimately committed suicide. Kevin Carter could have still been alive today and even much more famous, if he had just picked that little girl up and taken her to the United Nations Feeding Center, where she was attempting to reach or at least take her to somewhere safe.*

*Today, regrettably this is what is happening all around the world. The world celebrates stupidity and inhumane act, at the detriment of other. Kevin Carter should have taken the girl away from that place, which will cost him nothing, yet he didn't. Here is the inhuman posture, "he had all time to take his shot, but he had no time to save the girl's life".*

*Thus, we must all understand that, the purpose of life, is to also touch lives. So are you too a Vulture. In whatever we do, let humanity come first, before what we stand to gain out of the situation. In all we do let's always think of others and how we can be of benefit to humanity, how we can lend a helping hand and wipe away tears. Hence, when we seek knowledge, wealth, fame, skills, or even positions, let's think of how we can use it to benefit the people and society at large.*

*Today, there is a lot of poverty in the land, so if Almighty God has blessed you, be a blessing to others, extend a helping hand to those in need. Remember, you giving is also a way of appreciating divine blessings, bounties, and favour of God Almighty upon you. Therefore, it is very important that we all should help the poor and needy, the orphans and widows amongst us, so that they can meet their needs. Please don't be a Kevin Carter, be human and think humanity.*

_Beware, we humans are not humans. If we lack humaneness in all we do._

Tinubu, Kwankwaso And The Imperative Of Government of National Unity

Abdulmalik Suleiman

The idea or doctrine and history of Government of National Unity goes beyond our national shore and predated Tinubu's incoming administration.

In the United States of America, the doctrine is called bipartisan and in many western democracies.

Usually, the major reason behind the idea of inclusive government globally, is for stability of polity and for national cohesion.

The idea of Government of National Unity or inclusiveness has been part of our political history since independence, even when the country was under parliamentary democracy.

And from 1999 to dates, starting from former President Olusegun Obasanjo who immediately after being declared president, quickly embraced the idea and shared government cabinet with both the then oppositions parties, APP and AD. Late Bola Ige and Hajiya Aisha Ismail were appointed into the cabinet as ministers. late Pres. Umaru Yar'adua toed the same line with his predecessor, in fact the present president elect endorsed the idea and supported Yar'adua's administration to succeed.

Currently, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, president elect is not offering anything new about GNU.
Tinubu is a democrat, a patriot and one who has seen it all from all angles as a democracy fighter, an opposition element and a national leader of the current ruling party and now an elected president waiting to be sworn in.

As he prepare to assume office in less than two weeks from now, it's commendable that he's meeting individual who are tested and experience, to join hands with him in fixing the country.

The recent meeting between him and the presidential candidate of New Nigeria People's party NNPP and former Kano State governor,, Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in far away Paris is a well thought out and master stroke that could stabilize the polity and usher in a real growth and development from the anticident of both leaders.

The president elect knew his onions pretty well and he also know the capability and potential of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who completely changed the face of Kano State in terms of Education, Agriculture, Road Infrastructure, Social Reorientation, Job Creation and Providing Security etc. so the nuance being express about GNU by political opponents doesn't really matter. National issues supercedes personal interest or local political rivalry, in fact, governor Abdullahi Ganduge is simply facing comeuppance and shouldn't be pity from the ongoing political realignment, after all he too was a creation of Kwankwaso political structure.

Its not far fetched why the special interest shown in Sen Kwankwaso by the president elect, he was largely motivated by the former governor capability, competence, and political doggedness for stability, growth and development also, for national healing and stability.

Sen. Kwankwaso served as a Minister of Defense during President Obasanjo administration, a full civilian politician who did satisfactorily under a retire soldier president. During the period, it general agreed that the country witnessed an uptimum security stability in the country.

There is no doubt, that, the idea of GNU is a welcome one and can bring about national healing and partisan rapprochement, and never as a stratagem for sowing discord amongst opposition ranks.

It is therefore, considered healthy for the growth of democracy and reduction of gridlock in public governance, especially during a flawed election like ours.

In modern times, even former USA Pres. George W Bush appointed a well-known liberal democrat, Norman Mineta as Secretary of Transport.

All that is needed and vital at this material time, is how to fix the country and restore it politically and economically.

[b]Maths and English are subjects, so removing English and Maths out of the 5 Credits means these two subjects are compulsory.
However, 36 States and FCT, the "and" here is different, it is not because FCT is compulsory like the 3 Credits with Maths and English, because unlike Maths and English which are subjects, FCT is not a State, if it were a State like the others it will be 2/3 of 37 not 36 and FCT.
When they ask you in an exam, how many States does Nigeria have?
What is your answer? If you say 36 or 37? Why then do you say 36 states and FCT, yet you argue that FCT is not a State?
By constitution it is not created as a 37th State, but in operation by Section 299 it is a State, simple, all the laws and accruals apply.
I know that this argument is just academic, but even though I'm not a betting man, I can bet money that this is how the Courts will rule.
Have a great weekend.

Politics › Country That Has Countless Phd Holder's Is Arguing About "And" In The Constituti by eddie7(op): 1:37pm On May 19, 2023
A COUNTRY THAT HAS COUNTLESS PhD HOLDER'S IS ARGUING ABOUT "AND" IN THE CONSTITUTION.

1. In seeking admission into a university, after scoring above 200, Universities tell applicants that YOU MUST GET AT LEAST 5 CREDIT SCORES TO GET ADMITTED. THESE CREDIT SCORES MUST BE IN AT LEAST 3 SUBJECTS RELATED TO YOUR INTENDED COURSE OF STUDY "AND" MATHEMATICS, ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

This simply implies that even if you get 8 A's in all other subjects but get a "grin" or "E" or "F" in MATHEMATICS and ENGLISH LANGUAGE NO UNIVERSITY WILL ADMIT YOU.

BUT NIGERIANS ARE ARGUING

2. In an examination, if the instruction reads: ANSWER 3 QUESTIONS IN SECTION A "AND" THE QUESTION IN SECTION B.

If you answer all the 6 questions in section A, but do not answer THE QUESTION IN SECTION B (which carries 60% of the total marks), WILL YOU SCORE MORE THAN 40%...
IN THE EXAMINATION?

BUT NIGERIANS ARE ARGUING

3. In your place of work, the MD gives a simple instruction:
FOR YOUR PROMOTIONS TO BE CONSIDERED, AT LEAST TWO-THIRDS OF THE NEW RECRUITS "AND" THE SECRETARY MUST BE PRESENT IN THE MEETING.

If ALL the recruits attend the meeting, but the secretary fails to attend, WILL ANYBODY'S PROMOTION BE CONSIDERED DURING THE MEETING?

BUT NIGERIANS ARE ARGUING

More annoying in all these is that those arguing stupidly are the "EDUCATED" Nigerians because of their innate selfish desires.

Politics › Press Briefing By Secretary To The Government Of The Federation/ Chairman, Ptc by eddie7(op): 10:30am On May 19, 2023
PRESS BRIEFING BY THE SECRETARY TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERATION/ CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION COUNCIL, BOSS MUSTAPHA, CFR, ON THE PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES MARKING THE 2023 PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION HELD ON THURSDAY 18TH MAY, 2023 AT THE ROTUNDA HALL, OF MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, TAFAWA BALEWA WAY, CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, ABUJA.

I welcome you all to the World Press Conference organized to brief Nigerians and the entire world on the program of activities planned for the 2023 Presidential Inauguration.

Let me begin by thanking you for honoring our invitation. The presence of both local and international media houses here today is an indication that Nigerians and the global community are desirous of supporting the process of democratic transition of power from one administration to the other.

The upcoming event is historically significant to this great nation and the international community, particularly Africa because of the democratic values and lessons in nationhood. For these reasons, we have chosen, ‘NIGERIA: Better Together’, as the theme for the 2023 transition.

I am delighted to inform you that May 29, 2023 will mark the 7th consecutive democratic transition of power in Nigeria and on that day, we shall all be ushering in the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The significance of the above is underscored by the desire of this administration to lay a solid foundation for seamless transition of power by institutionalizing the process through legislation. In February, 2023, the President through Executive Order 14, approved the establishment of the Presidential Transition Council (PTC). The 24-member Council inclusive of two representatives of the President-Elect was inaugurated on 14th February 2023.

The Council is charged with the responsibility of facilitating and managing Presidential Transition. In the course of this process, the PTC established three main Committees namely: (i) Inauguration Committee under Chairmanship of the SGF; (ii) Transition Documents Committee under the Chairmanship of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; and (iii) Security, Facilities and Intelligence Committee under the Chairmanship of the National Security Adviser.

In furtherance of discharging it‘s functions, the PTC also interfaced with leading democratic nations including the United States of America and the Republic of Kenya, as part of its learning efforts to pick up useful lessons in line with international best practices. It is important to also state that these countries have specific legislations on Presidential Transition, some of which date back to 1963. It is our expectation that a specific legislation on presidential transition in Nigeria, would be passed soon.

The PTC also built on the foundation laid by the Transition Technical Task Team (TTTT) which I inaugurated in December 2022. The Task Team is the product of a collaborative effort between the Federal Government and development partners including FCDO-PERL; NESG, NGF; KPMG; TBI and we remain grateful to these partners.

Gentlemen of the press, let me once again assure Nigerians and indeed the global community of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to the seamless transfer of power to President-Elect, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In demonstration of this commitment, the President has directed all relevant government institutions to cooperate with and support the transition process through engagement with the President-Elect’s Team. It is for this reason that President Buhari amongst other things, approved the inclusion of the team as part of the Federal Government delegation to the World Bank/IMF Spring meetings in Washington DC in April, 2023.

It is with great delight, therefore, that I unveil the schedule of activities marking the 2023 Presidential Inauguration. They are as follows:

Pure an ethnic cleansing meanwhile,

Please let's remember to pray for MANGU local government area, for 3 straight days now they have being under serious attack without visible presence of security personnel. Nothing is impossible for God to do, today is MANGU, we don't know where it will be tomorrow. The situation is treated lightly in the media, but so many lives have been lost. Let's pray that the situation be curbed before it gets seriously out of hand.

Nairaland General › Trial Of Major General Um Mohammed By Sahara Reporters Is A Campaign Of Calumny by eddie7(op): 5:45pm On May 15, 2023
REPORT ON ONGOING COURT-MARTIAL TRIAL OF MAJOR GENERAL UM MOHAMMED BY SAHARA REPORTERS IS A CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY

The Army Headquarters has noted yet another ill-conceived report by Sahara Reporters on a sub-judice and ongoing Court Martial process of Major General UM Mohammed, the erstwhile Group Managing Director (GMD) Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL), who was indicted by a military police investigation and recommended for trial.

It is expedient to clear the air on the despicably false report and calculated attempt to cast aspersion on the ongoing Court Martial, which has already progressed to an advanced stage, as the prosecution has put forward the evidence against General Mohammed and closed its case. The accused senior officer has opened his defence and is testifying as Defence Witness One (DW1).

For the avoidance of doubts, without being sub-judicial, the former GMD NAPL is facing trial in relation to alleged offences of theft of various sums of money belonging to NAPL and forgery. These are all acts declared as offences punishable under the provisions of various extant penal Laws in Nigeria.

To set the records straight, upon investigation and indictment of the accused senior officer by military police investigations, the Army Headquarters convened a Special Court Martial to try the Senior Officer as a procedure to legally recover the sums of money he allegedly fraudulently acquired from the coffers of NAPL during his tenure as GMD. The details of the outcome of the Court Martial will be provided at the end of the Court Martial proceedings.

However, it is instructive to point out, that Court Martial trials are lawfully provided in the Armed Forces Act (AFA) as one of the disciplinary tools in the Armed Forces. The Court of Appeal and Supreme Court have in multiple instances validated the procedures, findings, and sentences of Court-martial. Court Martials like all other criminal trials are held in the open. The trial of Major General UM Mohammed is taking place at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess, Asokoro Abuja and not shrouded in secrecy as being wrongly insinuated.The trial has been open and the Defence has presented adequate representation in court. The accused senior officer’s family members, friends, and associates attend and observe the Court proceedings till date, without hindrance.

It is factual that Maj Gen UM Mohammed ought to have proceeded on retirement, however, provisions of the Armed Forces Act (specifically Section 169) permits the retention in service of such a personnel, who has pending disciplinary case(s) to allow extant legal processes.

Furthermore, it is also a fact that members of the Special Court Martial trying Maj Gen Mohammed are all junior to him. This is permissible in special circumstances, as the Armed Forces Act provides for this contingency in Section 133(7), where the Convening Officer is required to obtain the consent of an appropriate superior to appoint any such officers as members of the court. The requisite consent was obtained before convening the Special Court Martial trying the accused senior officer.

It is worthy of note that General Mohammed is being defended by a legal team comprising 2 Senior Advocates and 6 lawyers, including a retired military officer. He is currently being detained at a military location purpose-built for such detention, where the rights and well-being of such detainees are given prime consideration. Though at the onset of the trial, Maj Gen Mohammed requested to be granted bail inter-alia on health grounds, the Court in considering the bail application, took cognizance of the humongous amount of monies allegedly stolen in the indictment, which could encourage the accused senior officer to abscond. The Court therefore, declined the application for bail. The Court however, granted visitation rights to some family members, including his two wives, son, daughter, and brother as requested by the accused officer. These persons have been visiting him regularly at the detention facility.

On the issue of the accused senior officer's health; as with all other Court Martial trials, Maj Gen Mohammed’s state of health is examined daily to determine his fitness to stand trial before the commencement of proceedings for the day. The holding facility where he is detained is serviced by the Army Command and NAOWA Hospital and these medical facilities are open to him whenever required.

It is crucial to state clearly, that it is inappropriate and amounts to unlawful interference with the administration of justice to peddle inaccurate reports and comments on a matter currently under judicial adjudication (sub-judice). All the statements reported to have been made about certain persons and funds disbursement were made in the course of the trial by a witness in the defence of his case. We shall therefore not comment on those statements to maintain the sanctity of the trial and its outcome.

Sahara Reporters is enjoined to practice responsible journalism and refrain from subjective, inaccurate, and inappropriate reporting of matters currently sub-judice.
