It's probable, but Algeria remains my tournament favorites. Tbh, I don't think our Super Eagles under Rohr could hold its own against this Zimbabwe side but I hope Eguavoen's gon' impress the Nigerian people with some quality football in Gauruoa tomorrow. We don't want him playing too safe against those Egyptian lots.
Senegal will be more determined whenever it confronts Algeria unlike their last meeting. Bear in mind it's present COVID issue
Education › JAMB Frowns At Tertiary Institutions Slow Pace In Admission Processes by eddie7(op): 4:01pm On Jan 10, 2022
The Director of Admissions at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr Mohammed Babaji Ahmed has decried the slow pace of admission processing in tertiary institutions for the 2021 admissions exercise.
Thus, the Board has called on tertiary institutions across the country to expedite action on the completion of the 2021 Admission exercise.

The Director of Admissions, Mr. Ahmed appealed while briefing some selected institutional Desk Officers, and implored them to interact with their respective institutions to ensure that even if they are not ready for the students to resume.
He advised them to conduct such admissions before their respective chosen resumption dates to enable their candidates to know their fate.

Besides acknowledging the numerous challenges that have impacted the academic calendars of tertiary institutions, the Director urged them to close the gap whereby only about one hundred thousand candidates have been processed out of the over six hundred thousand eligible candidates and urged affected institutions to close the process on time.
Ahmed explained that the call became necessary following the negligible number of fully-processed 2021 Admissions on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) out of the teeming population of eligible candidates with the requisite qualifications yearning for admission.

He urged them to devise acceptable means of closing the gap and complete the 2021 Admission exercise on schedule.
Ahmed disclosed that the Board was on the verge of rolling out the 2022 UTME application documents hence the need for Desk Officers to be proactive.
He expressed the resolve of the Board to prevent candidates from incurring unnecessary expenses through buying new e-pins that they may not use if they are eventually admitted.

Recall that over 1.4m candidates registered for both the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) and Direct Entry(DE) out of which only about 600,000 possessed the requisite qualifications to be admitted based on available records with the Board.

Nairaland General › UI-500L Medicine Drop Out, Castrates Himself To Reduce Sexual Urge by eddie7(op): 12:51pm On Jan 10, 2022
Forty-four-year-old Terhemen Anongo, who dropped out of the University of Ibadan as a 500-level medical student, says he has castrated his second testicle. punch reports
The newspaper in March 2021 reported the story of Anongo, who became a cart pusher after dropping out of school and removed one of his testicles. Several people, including his classmates at UI, supported him after the report.

On why he removed the testicle, he had said, “You know how the issue of sexual urge torments one when you don’t have a wife, coupled with your religious beliefs. I am someone deeply involved in religion and I read about Origen Adamantius, one of the early church leaders from Egypt, who paid to be castrated so that he would not be bothered by sexual urge

It was in an attempt to do the same thing that I removed my right testicle but there was a heavy flow of blood, so I abandoned it (castration) and rushed to hospital.”

Speaking with our correspondent on the telephone on Sunday, Anongo said he decided to remove the second testicle because of his religious beliefs.

He said, “Yes, I went to remove the second testicle based on religious belief. But I told this man (his friend) not to tell you (the reporter) because I don’t want to disturb you and don’t want it in public domain, still he (the friend) told you.”

When asked the day he removed the testicle, he said, “I removed it on Monday. The first one had little hitches but this one, having learnt from that experience, I did (remove) it very well. Somebody is always coming to dress it for me.

I’m fine; there is no problem; I’m only waiting for when the wound will be healed so I can remove the stitches.”

Sports › Analysis: Cash Prizes For Winners Of AFCON2021 by eddie7(op): 10:44am On Jan 10, 2022
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations kicked off with a number of global broadcasters prepare to beam Africa’s largest sporting event and the world’s third-largest football competition after the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship from Cameroon to millions of fans in 157 countries
A total of $1.850 million was added to the prize money from the quarter-final stage to the final for this year’s edition.
According to Business Insider, In addition to that, but the new prize money for eventual champions of the competition is $5 million – a half a million increase from the previous prize in the 2019 edition.
Plus, the further a nation goes in the tournament, the more money they will automatically receive, so it is within their best interests to progress through the rounds not just for success on the pitch but also for the financial gain

Recall that, CAF was cash strap after last year Nations cup, with many decision makers raising opinions about the organizers and the contract they signed with Total

Each of the eight teams who qualify for the quarter-final of the tournament will receive USD 1.175 million (an increase of USD 175,000 from the previous prize in the 2019 edition).”
Each of the four teams who qualify for the semi-final of the tournament will receive USD 2.2 million (an increase of USD 200,000).” The winners of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will receive a prize of $5 million, while the runners-up will receive a reward of $2.5 million.

Source of the money

Sponsors are essential, and for thE 33rd edition of AFCON, TotalEnergies is the title sponsor of the tournament as part of its eight-year partnership agreement with the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF). Although CAF does not reveal details of individual sponsorship packages, the expectation is that the revenue generated from brands wishing to be associated with Africa’s top players will generate over US$35 million in revenue for Africa’s governing footbal.

Education › JAMB:. NIN To Delay 2022 UTME Registration – by eddie7(op): 10:20am On Jan 04, 2022
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, on Monday, stated that pre-examination activities, including registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination would start late due to issue arising from the National Identification Number.
2020
Though the board also defended its decision to enforce the National Identity Number requirement in the registration process.
The spokesman for the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the clarifications in an interview with The PUNCH in Abuja.
“Most of the board’s pre-examination activities, including the 2022 UTME registration, are starting late owing to some circumstances beyond our control. We are, however, ready to do all that is necessary not only to meet up with the schedule, but also to make the 2022 UTME registration and examination the best so far,” he said.
The board stated in its weekly bulletin published on Monday that its decision to implement the NIN was a game-changer in the fight against impersonation.
Dr.Fabian Benjamin said, “The introduction of the NIN in UTME registration in 2021 by the board was a game-changer in the fight against impersonation and other examination infractions. It is to be noted that the decision to adopt the NIN was a very difficult one given the various challenges and opposition from many quarters to the policy.
“However, the board, seeing the many benefits associated with the deployment of the NIN, took the unpopular but beneficial decision, knowing that any departure from the norm would, more often than not, be met with initial opposition and rejection, and was, therefore, understandably undeterred in its chosen course of action.”
