I like Bakare as a person but i dont think he is a good leader. good critics are never good leaders. they are almost opposites. he is too quick to steer controversy. you must have a big heart as a leader. there is a parable that says, a king who always tries to listen to his servants will soon hear his servants insulting him.
PoliticsRe: Will U Vote For Buhari? by edicolove: 4:10pm On Mar 15, 2011
Well to have a wider and more intelligent debate, I would like to ask the following questions to those supporting Buhari. You do have the right to support whom you will but i am just wondering,

1. Why did he truncate Nigeria's first real democracy (even if the government had issues). In a more civilized world, he wont even get a chance?
2. Why did he never have a plan back to democracy 2 years after he truncated democracy?
3. Why did he support the annulment of june 12?
4. Why has he never mentored leaders since I have known him? (he has no real political base except the almajiris) I would have had more respect for him if he put some young men whom he has mentored forward.
5. Why did be try to Islamise Nigeria when he was president?

Just a few questions to ponder, debate please

^^^ Was the IF in that statement LOST ON YOU? Shocked Shocked Shocked

Actually NO, Buhari would not be considered part of the current status quo for so many reasons. One, he is not part of the current government -- yes he served under military rule which was abolished about 12 years ago, by the way. Yes, he is from old government, but since we are in a democracy, and he is a civilian, he is allowed to run again.

-----------------------------------

Kobojunkie!!! haba my guy leave this argument alone. you are making a fool of yourself. your statement explains itself. the if does not negate the statement, it buttresses it. it ascents it. it gives it footing. please check your brighter grammer. you can actually replace the IF with AS. haba!

Yes, it is election period but I don't OWE YOU, neither do the others who do not support the same candidate as you do. You are free to choose whom you will and it is not my place to try to CONVINCE YOU. If you are more willing to have the status quo continue, who am I to deny you that right to vote that it should?

-----------------------------------------

was this not your statement? or you typed it in error? did you not already conclude i was voting for the status quo?

and just to add ironically, Buhari is part of that status quo. The guy is more of the status quo than jonathan and sambo combined. when will the guy ever mentor young men to take the baton from him. i guess he wants to be the status quo for ever

Buhari is tried and tested and proven to be effective in stamping out corruption.

He reduced inflationfrom 24% to 4%

Recovered looted  money.

He paid off our debt

All this in just 1.5 years

Why not google him?
---------------------------------

Nice one. at least this is an intelligent post. but i have a few questions and observations.

I will not google him because what will turn up in google are articles written by those who support him. I am a Nigerian who was very aware during Buhari's time and I cant remember him doing any of the things you just listed. He ruled for just a short time and achieved nothing but no one really blamed him for achieving nothing because we feel his rule was very short. but to claim the above is not true at all. The ony thing he did in 2 years was war against indiscipline. WAI. He didnt recover any monies. He didnt pay off any debt. And he didnt reduce inflation. please get your facts right. Inflation has never reduced in Nigeria since Gowon's regime. I has steadily risen since then. Ironically, the only president that has ever paid off our debt is OBJ and he has never been given any credit for that. funny.

^^^^ I wasn't trying to convince you there. Just wondering why you would CHOOSE to focus on the insults and then WHINE that that is all being offered you. If YOU cannot of your own FIGURE OUT the best for you, and then STICK TO IT, then why EXPECT others to do it for you?

-------------------------------------------------------

You disappoint me. I had thought you were an intelligent fellow but maybe I am wrong. This is an election period. If you support a candidate and really believe in him, you would try to convince others and not say they should figure it out themselves. I have given you an opportunity to convince me and you have just proven you really have no strong point for supporting Buhari, else you would have gladly brought it forward. Is this how you are going to campaign for him and expect him to win? and if he looses, you will say it was rigged? be fair for once in your life. Stop being a bandwagon Nigerian. If you really want Buhari to win, then show his good qualities and stop being a typical Nairalander, who just echoes what people are saying.

Put the points on the table and discuss inteligently. e.g,

Is he a democrat?
Is he sincere?
Does he really have any record of performance? etc.

Please try to stay on point if you can.

All you are doing is trying to shout others down and name calling others. Cant you bring out one good quality he has, because I hardly see any and his bad qualities far outweigh the good. i know i will not have an intelligent response as another Buhari supporter will soon run wild and might even call me names. Some of you are doing in nairaland what buhari is advocating in his campaigns. violence.

What exactly would you like to happen here? For someone to step up here to tell you why he/she has chosen to vote against PDP for good, and that Buhari is the next best on the list?

-------------------------------------------------

Yes. that is how to convince people if you really believe in what you are saying. name calling and agbero style arguments wont get you anywhere. put your arguments out and lay out your points on the table and see if they are valid.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has declared that the People's Democratic Party [PDP] has no governorship candidate for the April polls in Lagos state for now.

This decision was made after the court heard submissions from parties filed by one Mr. Oluowo Adeyeri, a delegate at the January 10, 2011 PDP congress where Dr. Ade Dosunmu emerged as the party's governorship candidate, read more below

So much falsehood goes on daily in this country.

Well I just want to correct a lie that has been peddled for a long time. Fashola is not the best governor since 1999. the best governor since 1999 is Donald Duke, former governor of cross rivers state. And he was a PDP governor not ACN. Fashola has not matched him yet. most of you who sit your ass in Lagos have got no clue. Apart from the big buildings in Lagos, Lagos is still a jungle. Calabar is like Paris were Lagos is. Even El Rufai did far more for Abuja than Fashola can ever dream of and he was PDP. Lagos is a dirty place with a lot of population and a lot of money.

No fewer than 19 supporters of the People's Democratic Party [PDP] in the South-South zone have been reported dead due to a stampede at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia, venue of the PDP rally for the April elections in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

Eye witnesses say the stampede began after a policeman fired into the air in an attempt to disperse surging crowds as thousands of party supporters left the rally.

The Acting Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Blesyn Wikina confirmed the casualties, saying about 29 others injured in the stampede had been taken to a state owned hospital, and the Teme clinic managed by doctors without borders.

PoliticsRe: Ddc Machines Can Detect Multiple Registrations - Jega by edicolove(op): 6:25pm On Feb 01, 2011
Actually, the system does not need to have a live network on. The ACN leaders who criticised Jega earlier where not current. All that is required is that when the registration officers return from their daily exercise, they can connect to the server and upload their data. From that point, if a person has registered b4, it will be rejected and only the ones that are valid will be updated to the server for storage. Dont also forget that the data has to be uploaded to a server because they cannot leave the data in the laptops alone otherwise, if the laptop crashes, all the data will be lost. On the day of voting They can easiy load a new laptop from the server if the current laptop crashes

It is good when someone does a good thing and they should be commended. But in all sincerity, this is not a great deed. This is a scam that has become typical of nigerian entertainment people. I know a lot of them but wont call names. They go about claiming to help the less priviledge but they are just scammers and crooks. Omotola has not sold up to 5000 copies of her CD. This is fact from Alaba. She makes about N5 per CD. that is what artists make in naija. Cds are sold at maximum of N50 per CD at Alaba to retailers. In summary, she hasnt made up to N70, 000 from her album. Dont believe all the hype you hear on TV. She will make far more from her shows than from the album. She should donate part of her show money if she really wants to help the less priviledge. Just stating the facts. I dont hate her. They should stop using the less priviledge as a platform to project themselves. It is wrong.
PhonesRe: What The Hell Is MTN PayGo? by edicolove: 1:57am On Jan 25, 2011
Most of you guys are making me feel sad. Why is Nigeria like this. Until we change the way we think, this country will not change. The problem is not from MTN. This problem is NIgerians. We are plastic people with huge inferiority complex. How can a network be charging you 30 to 40 Naira for a minute while other networks haved moved over to 12-15 Naira per minute and you are still debating. If it is another country, everyone would have already thrown away their MTN line.

You guys talk like you have sworn an oath to use MTN lines forever. What is so difficult in changing a line. I have used 2 MTN lines b4 and thrown them away. Why this funny attachments to phone lines or phone numbers. I have friends all over the world and they change their numbers from time to time. Why all this religious ties to numbers and networks. We are a funny country. A country that prefers to use expensive things when it is not necessary. MTN has the

- Worst customer service
- Worst Drop calls
- Worst tarrifs.
I have about all the networks Airtel, Glo, MTN, Etisalat and Visa Phone. I once spoke to someone who asked me which line I was using. I told him Celtel (now Airtel) and he responded by saying, "ah why not change to MTN, the big boys network". I was so pissed. That is a guy with big inferiority complex. Since when did a phone number show that you are a big shot in society? Very stupid! And this fellow have not bought 1/3 of the Airtime I have bought. But you see, the guys at MTN know a lot of Nigerians think like this, so they will exploit the inferiority complex and extort you guys. And the funny part is that the real wealthy people in society dont care about stuff like this. It is poor guys and average guys that think like this. They try to create a status with stuff like the phone network you use, the mobile handset you use and so on. I once met the Former UBA chairman on the plane from ABJ to Lagos and he was using a cheap Nokia 6210. A billionaire.

It is all a shame to us. Do yourself a favor. Don't get attached to a number. If they will not reduce their tariff, throw it away. Liberate yourself from emotional bondage. Stop giving yourself those excuses like

- All my contacts are MTN (This is a big lie)
- After all they have tried (Poor self worth. You deserve more)
- All my clients are used to the number (Bull crap. Respected companies dont use mobile numbers. They use fixed phones. How can I trace you if you abscond with my money)
- MTN is the best (Completely delusional. Now you are lying to yourself so you can justify your bondage and emotional attachment and weakness)
PoliticsRe: CPC And ACN To Join Forces- Deal May Be Signed Tomorrow ! by edicolove: 1:33am On Jan 25, 2011
All you guys are not serious at all. You just come to NL here and fantasize. I did my voter's registration in Lagos and almost everyone at the registration station said they would vote Fashola and GEJ. You dont know the sentiments on the ground. Lagos is the only state that is almost sure for ACN in the governorship. Dont get carried away. PDP might win back states like Ekiti and Osun. Lagos state ACN is in troubled waters and only the good will of Fashola will guarantee their success. Their primaries was a sham and people are angry. Tinubu has shown he is not a true democrat by all the sham primaries ACN had. So you guys don't have a clue when you keep doing all these permutations. GEJ will win without a sweat. Buhari is too old for Naija. He has no clue as to how to run a modern country. He has no vision. NIgeria needs more than a war against Indiscipline. The sentiments on the ground is for young leadership. IF GEJ can defeat IBB, Atiku and Gusau in the PDP primaries then you must know that he will win the April election easily. Even Shehu Shagari, about the most respected Hausa-Fulani leader, has said the North will vote GEJ. Some of you have still not learnt any lesson from the PDP primaries. It showed you several things

1. The North is not united
2. The North doesn't vote in a block anymore
3. The South is completely united behind GEJ.

Dont delude yourself. States like Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Benue, Plateau and a few others have only PDP. The other parties are practically none existent. This is the reality on the ground. It doesn't matter whether you like the PDP or not.

I will just like to add too hat I am a little disappointed with you guys. You should be canvassing for people to vote the right candidates whatever the party. Not canvassing for a party. Nigeria needs good leaders not a change of party. I will never vote a Tinubu, whatever the party because he is a crook. So is Aregbesola. Another big crook. Doesnt matter how the press tries to paint him. I will vote a Fashola. This is the kind of thinking Nigeria needs.

PoliticsRe: Unseating The Mighty Pdp by edicolove: 11:26am On Jan 18, 2011
Sometimes I get really bored with NL and i think the reason is that most of the people posting here are Nigerians in Diaspora who have lost touch with things back home. They form their opinions from the news media who are about the most corrupt sector in Nigeria.

The whole cry of Nigerians is for change, not for change of party. Those who preach change of party are only preaching that from a selfish perspective. They just want to install their own party. They are not doing it becos they love Niaja. The best governor Nigeria has ever produced since 1999 was a PDP governor in the person of Donald Duke of  cross rivers state. Even Fashola has not matched his success yet. Some of the best governors now are still PDP governors like Akpabio of Akwa Ibom and Amaechi of rivers. some of the worst are also PDP like Lucky Igbinedion of Edo and Ibori of Delta. The point is that it is not about the party but people. All parties have good and bad people. Tinubu remains one of the worst crooks of them all even up till now. His company runs the lekki toll gates.

So when I see people come here talking about unseating PDP, i just know they are ACN members disguising as genuine neutrals of NL. PDP just had the best primaries Nigeria has ever seen and believe me because I am on the ground, they have won everyones heart. I just registered for the elections in Lagos and everyone at the poling booth was shouting GEJ's praises. I think we should ignore these guys as they are only indirectly campaigning for their party.

Nigerians should rise and support good  people anywhere you find them and hope things will improve. I like fashola and I think he has done well for Lagos. I like GEJ and I think he is doing very well for Naija. I detest Tinubu and I know he is a crook. Thats the way it should be.
PoliticsRe: 2011: So Begins The Fall Of The ACN In The Southwest! by edicolove: 11:03am On Jan 18, 2011
The track record of the two parties in the SW is enough pointers for Yorubas to make deductions from

Products of internal democracy like Akala and Obanikoro

For example senatorial seats in Osun state were won by Oyinlola Isiaka Adeleke and Omisore. Agagu won the senate ticket for Ondo, General Adetunji Olurin won the ticket for Governorship in Ogun Alao Akala in Oyo

I would rather go with the consensus CAN candidates than the internal democracy candidates of PDP fortunately majority of Yorubas support this that's why we are seeing the A C N wave sweeping the SW
These kind of posts I am seeing is very worrisome. Am I really reading this? Is this for real? Do you guys really know the implication of what you are posting? You are taking Nigeria back 25 years or more! You are shooting yourself in the foot. The only reason some people have looked up to the ACN recently was because they were perceived as those who would uphold democracy and the rule of law. Your posts completely erodes that stance and automatically makes the PDP the right party. You probably don't even understand what you are posting. If your defense is anything to go by, then you shouldn't have taken over Ekiti and the other states like Edo. We should have allowed people like Anenih who "have worked so hard " to continue ruling. Absolutely silly logic! The logic completely destroys the June 12 struggle and everything that goes with it. So if it is by consensus, why did you fight against OBJ during the so called 3rd term saga? So who decides who should be conceded to? So you now give absolute power to 1 man. This is really getting me amazed! I feel like crying!

So you are comparing internal affair of a party with rigging?

I know the problem with you guys, your sentiments are taking the better of you and you need reasons to rationalize it.

ACN is not perfect but comparing with the PDP is way off the mark. If you need a reason to support PDP look for another one instead of "they are all the same slogan"

If you have never participated in the political process in Nigeria, you can never understand.

shallow minds.
It is obvious you have never participated in the political process in Nigeria. You have been participating in the political process of the south west. You have a very very shallow mind bro. See who is talking about sentiments. You are the one who is supporting lack of internal democracy just because it is your party that is doing it. But it is bad if it is coming from the PDP. Double standards. Who is sentimental now.

I pity some of you because you cry wolf when you are not getting what you want. You do not care for Nigeria but for yourselves and your pockets. Now the truth is coming out and ACN is becoming a laughing stock. Tinubu is selecting his wives and children for different positions and forcing other contestants to withdraw. He even went as far as kicking Mamora out just because he refused to challenge Fashola. You guys are a real joke. A bunch of hypocrites. I am so sorry for you because you will only remain the regional party that you have always been. You are lucky to have a man in Fashola who have done well even with all the harrasment from Tinubu (who wants to collect all the money in Lagos) because without Fashola you will loose Lagos woefully.

Good. In the heat of 1993 an 1994, when the country was going thru the June 12 saga, I was at the forefront of the struggle, leading the lines in the ancient city of Benin. I dont fear revolution and this is not trying to be boastful.

In the famous words of General Bernard Bee: "Look! There is Jackson standing like a Stonewall! Let us determine to die here today and we will conquer, Rally behind the Virginians!"

The painful part is that a Nigerian revolution will not even be bloody because the so called elites are not as fearless as you lot have made them to be. The problem is that the Nigerian masses are cowards and they will continue to give excuses for their cowardice.

People knew internal democracy does not exist in AD, AC or ACN from time immemorial and it didnt start today.

Lam Adeshina, Bisi Akande, Adefarati, Adeniyi Adebayo, Osoba were handpicked in 1999. Even Tinubu was handpicked over Funsho Williams for being part of the democracy struggle.

Same thing happened in 2007 when Fashola was handpicked. That is the way the AC/AD/ACn does their business and they are still able to remain strong in the SW why then should they change?

Didnt we all see the product of internal democracy of the PDP in the SW? People like Obanikoro, Alao-Akala, Gbenga Daniels and Oyinlola.

For me and my household, we would rather go with a "handpicked" Fashola than an "elected" Obanikoro/Alao-Akala

Thats my own opinion
This is a disgraceful post. Then why do you cry about rigging and why do you even border to support democracy? You or ACN have no basis to complain about rigging of elections with posts like this because you lot are simply pot calling the kettle black. Hypocrisy at its best!
