akin33: At this jucture, let us stage a protest to stop this broad day stealing. The PDP has succeeded in making themselves empire. If we keep silence, it will continue. The salaries of a senate or reps enough to develope a community. Chai! This evil must stop. Revolution to chase PDP away in 2015 election is sure. Graduates, atisan, businessmen, man & woman, let us come together to stop these few people that are pocketing our wealth. Imagine, in d midst of unnemployment and hunger. A person earn such amout of money and dnt care to create jobs.
Have you seen any CPC or ACN legislator that refused his/share? If they are strong enough to determine who emerged as speaker and strong enough to start an impeachment campaign, why are they not strong enough to start a salary reduction or anti wastage campaign? Hmmm

ypzilanti: exactly what i keep saying. Why has no one organized a march on the national assembly?
Because that's not the agenda. The agenda is to return the power back to the core north with the support of the south west. They own the oil blocks and need to renew their licences by 2016. The only hindrance is the middlebelt and south south!

Everfrank: It was the fear of Buhari that made all the corrupt rallied round GEJ and capitalized on his inexperience believing that It'll be business as usual. A president Buhari would have pursued this matter differently. Its not too late as GEJ can still resign and save his face.
Who exactly is afraid of Buhari? You keep believing what the CPC propaganda peeps tell you. He was kicked out without stress in 1985. What exactly has changed since then? He was PTF chairman for 5 years and wasted hundreds of billions of naira with nothing to show for it. Can you name any major PTF project in your state? Where you expecting members of PDP to support Buhari over Jonathan? You are really hilarious. Where you expecting SS, SE and MB to vote for him? Where you expecting people from Jos, southern Niger and Kaduna, Taraba, southern Bauchi and many other Christian north to vote for him. Keep deluding yourself. Christian northerners hate buhari ten times more than most southerners. He is not electable in a free and fair election even in a thousand years. Shioor!

Even if he was a gentle man? Lol. Some of you show you are kids on this forum. Let me remind you that the said Buhari hid behind Idiagbon for 20 months. Sisi_Kill: How do you not get that it is not about supporting the so called cabal or being against the prosecution of the offenders. It is the fact that the offenders can boldly mention the PRESIDENT'S name like he is just another run of the mill crime partner.

And the fact that Mr. President was very hesitant about admitting there was indeed a Cabal does not paint a good picture.

The President should be above reproach or is that too much to ask? (Here's the part where the apologist start their show and tell on which president was corrupt before GEJ's turn. . .as if that makes it okay)
Congratulations for successfully indicting yourself and showing us your true motive for criticising. You mean an educated person like you came to a public forum, criticized and insulted the president of his/her country because an accused man who is being prosecuted in court boldly mentioned his name.

So if you were one of the cabals, what will be your best strategy to stall or stop the prosecution? What was Farook's strategy to stall his prosecution? Was is not to accuse the president for setting him up? You really think the cabal would go down without a fight? If I boldly call you an ashewo now, will that make it correct? Well it is obvious you are partisan. I don't need to say more. I see your level of reasoning and its sad. You lot want to try and scuttle the prosecution of offenders, go ahead! You are now officially defending oil thieves and it is on record! Smh

Gbawe: I have seen mo.ro.nic GEJ sycophants disgraced far too many times on this forum to take your olodo talk seriously. It is always more enjoyable to let events play out and make big fools of you unrepentant and morally bankrupt dullar.ds who keep licking the azz of a leader disgraced many times as a poster child of corruption and a great pal and 'enabler' of the most corrupt in the land.
After typing all this story, simple question is what do you support? Are you now against the prosecution of the offenders? Do you now support the blackmailing cabal? What exactly do you stand for? If Jonathan is the poster child of corruption, then we have a house divided against itself and as the good book says, it shall not stand. So why not support the prosecution then and see the house crumble? Why are you lot trying to scuttle it? Funny

Kobojunkie: um . . . it depends on who you were listening to. First of all, I don't think you have been reading what the people have been saying on here. The issue has not been about the Government prosecuting them but about the government ensuring that those involved in robbing the Nigerian people blind, are found guilty, and made to pay back every last dime.
For pete's sake Nigerians have seen how the elite are "prosecuted" in Nigeria and how the sentences amount to a slap on the wrist . . . From the Alamieshiegas, to the Bode Georges, the Ibori's, the Odili's, Igbenedions, the Tompolos, the Halliburton linked criminals etc. Most of these were "prosecuted" but guess what, they walked out of court free of charges . . . at the end of the play, I mean day.
Many on here and in Nigeria, have come to accept, from past experiences, both under this administration and those prior, that the likelihood of those fingered even in the various subsidy probes, getting off easy is high. And many have accepted that it is more a charade than a prosecution in the real sense of the word.

I think, if you are really not one of these so-called laptop goons we have on nairaland, you calm down and read what people are really saying. If you however happen to be one of the 40 laptop goons, then ignore my post cause I really have no time to waste on such.
You summed up the fact that your post lacked any real substance by throwing in the 40 laptop blackmail tactics. The guy asked a simple and intelligent question. Why not live him to grab your point himself instead of posturing that if he didn't get or agree with your opinion, he must be a 40 laptop member.
Congratulations! You have also just created a new goal post! In your words:
"The issue has not been about the Government prosecuting them but about the government ensuring that those involved in robbing the Nigerian people blind, are found guilty, and made to pay back every last dime. "

Hahahahahaha! So GEJ must not only prosecute them, he must kick out the judge and pass the sentence himself. He must then proceed to hunt them down and shoot them at sight! That is the only way forward! Hahahahahaha

Cyber blackmail squad.

Hmmmm!

Interesting to see that Kobojunkie, Gbawe, Pataki, lacasa, Sisikill and others have become the defenders of corruption. How the table turns. They are in a big predicament now. They vowed with their lives that GEJ will never prosecute. Now he has disappointed them, they are really mad and furious with him and are supporting a campaign of blackmail against him. It is equally interesting that the first serious thread on Nairaland about the prosecution is a blackmail against the president. Hmmm. In the words of Nuhu Ribadu, "when you fight corruption, corruption will fight back".

The most interesting thing in all these is that the opposition started their dance/fight so early in this administration. That leaves them disadvantaged. Because now the president can go on and prosecute the oil thieves and fix the power problem and get a landslide second ticket! Very poor political calculation from ACN and CPC.

I am a member of many fora around the internet and this is the most silly, despicable affront to freedom of speech I have ever seen. Completely shameful and a final indictment on the opposition. It really exposes the opposition as intolerant bigots and partisan in a despicable way. This will go down as the most unintelligent thread not just on NL but on the Internet that I have ever seen. It can't get lower than this. That the MODs put this on the front page is an indictment on NL and I promise to spread this around the internet to show the true colors of the Nigerian opposition. This is the best weapon ever in the hands of the GEJ camp I have seen. This has just taken NL 6 years back as a platform for freedom of expression. This is 2012, not 1960! This is really sad! signing out!
Just to add. I have never seen a forum where the owners of the forum put up a thread to insult a certain group in its forum. This is the height of disrespect and intolerance. It is as bad as any form of racism. If you think these group of people don't deserve to be on your forum, you should just go ahead and ban them. Then you can have threads where everyone just insults GEJ unopposed. You can even make all the threads GEJ insult threads if you like. Afterall, it belongs to you.

If this is the tolerance level of the opposition, then Nigeria is doomed and I make a vow that I will never vote for them even if everyone else in Nigeria votes for them! You can't bully people to vote for you. This is anti-democratic

Delafruita: i have lived in lagos all my life and i believe i will be a good witness to change if any exists.when oyinlola left lagos and marwa came,we didnt expect much since he was a military man and we perceived him as in the same league with rasaki and oyinlola.however, marwa suprised everyone by actually working to improve lagos.he stole our money but at least he left us with something unlike others that stole and did nothing.
when tinubu came in,lagos was a wastebin.civil service was a conduit pipe for free money.everything that should be up was down and vice versa.education was in a dilapidated state.it is to tinubu's credit that within 4 years,he provided multiple mega schools which have become a model.tinubu embarked on too many projects at once which i believe he had the mind to complete in his second term.however, his scuffle with obasanjo began and allocations were withheld till his tenure ended.it it to asiwaju's credit that IGR was increased from a paltry 500mil monthly to over 30billion and it now stands at abbout 50billion.
when fashola came in,he mainly continued with tinubu's project like BRT and the light rail project.he was also lucky to receive the withheld allocations from yar'adua hence work moved at a faster pace.along the line,he developed his own ideas and with enough money to execute them, his performance was very visible.now,4years have passed, the withheld allocation which played a major part in his achievement is gone and he now has to depend on IGR and PPPs.hence the perception of slow pace in his second term.
no state has the quality of public schools in lagos.in truth, the megaschools havent reached all parts of lagos but when you consider the fact that lagos is more that the entire northcentral and almost at par with the entire SE and SS in terms of population, you will understand the clamour for lagos to be granted special status.a situation where lagos gets 7billion while bayelsa gets 13billion is just not right
This is getting really interesting. At least we learn everyday so can you please tell us the mega schools that Fashola built? You seem to forget Lagos is one place where people can monitor.

Secondly, you contradicted yourself when you said the IGR has has increased and then went on to say work was slow because of funds. If the IGR has increased to staggering N50B, isn't work supposed to increase too?

I actually thought Tinubu was going to do well in his first term and supported him back then but I think the guy became carried away by his quest to be the Yoruba leader and became distracted. Tinubu was the same way Rochas is now. A lot of talk and promise. But in the end, little work done. I hope Rochas will not end up the same way

Nairaland! A place filled with people who don't have a clue what is happening on the ground. In as much as I won't agree or disagree with the ogbonna guy, I must state that

1. The Igbos posting on NL might not follow Ogbonna but the Ibos on the streets follow people like Ogbonna. Go to Alaba, Idummota and Computer village and you will get and Idea.

2. Ibos are here in Lagos in their millions.

Some have been saying Lagos people. Who are Lagos people? Most of the people I have met who claim they are Lagos people are from Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Kwara, etc. Original Lagos people are not much and can't determine who wins Lagos in a free and fair election. They dominate because other tribes don't really care. But I don't pray for a fight between Ibos and Yourubas in Lagos. You will be shocked what will happen. The Ibos have chased the yorubas out of Alaba and they couldn't do anything about it. Ajegunle is dominated by Niger Delta people completely. Places like surulere, festac, ikeja, ojo, and many others are completely dominated by non natives. Lagos is not like other places in the north. Lagos is not dominated by Yoruba.

This thing you posted up there is the problem with Nigeria. A typical Nigerian want to be deceived. You adore those who lie to you. Its the fake life. If someone tells you the truth, you say he his slacking.

First, GEJ hasn't being there for 3 years. I mean, I don't even know why am correcting you on that. It is funny how you even typed that.

Secondly, like I said yesterday, Rochas has not achieved so much in one year of office. It is all a facade. A smokescreen. I don't ever take people who blow their trumpet like that serious. Its the same reason I criticize OShiomole sometimes. Both Oshio Baba and Rochas are very promising but neither have come close to being great. They just make more noise than everyone else. You cannot build infrastructure in one year. Rochas haven't achieved much. He just shouts a lot.

You are wrong on Ibadan Ilorin Road the road has being under construction since inception of democracy OBJ awarded the contract and PDP fraud has never complete the project. All GEJ apologist need to tell him the truth he is doing nothing to touch people life. One year is a lot of time if people dedicate project within one hundred day in office, the guys need to sit tight and do something cogent
Like I said before, one year is too early to give a score card. Especially when it comes to building infrastructure. Do you know that unlike a private citizen, government can't do anything outside the budget? The time it takes government to plan for a nation is not beans. So to expect a big change in one year is ludicrous

Yes GEJ's target is 40% cassava component

I just don't like this practice of EVERY government saying for THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THIS country. Obj too did the same. It is always too self serving

Go and find out, the cost of the Abuja airport reconstruction project is more than the amount required to BUILD A BRAND NEW airport
First I didn't say first to do cassava bread, but first to have a well defined agric policy. The last time we had something close to this kind of drive in agriculture was in 1977 during OBJ's first regime. But it wasn't followed thru.

I will be stup1d to come here and tell you GEJ's administration is faultless. Only ACN and Fashola supprters do that to their governors. I said clearly in the other threads on governors that they were all corrupt. All of them. But I only showed you that there are several ongoing projects to look at while stressing seriously that it is too early to judge him. He could turn out a mega success or a mega failure. I have a feeling the former will be the case but time will tell.

All you have to do is make compelling arguments for your subject.

If they are not being biased at all, they will see that Lagos may have commissioned more projects than the FG in the last one year.
If you observe the posts above, you will notice the problem is from fashola supporters, not GEJ supporters. They are always the first to turn every thread into a GEJ hate thread and present fashola as the messiah. It isn't the other way round.

60%. That means if there are 10 projects, FG did 6 and LASG did 4
Okay for every 4 I list, you must list 6 by FG.

1.Ojuelegba to Alaka Road
2. Yaba to Oyingbo Road
3. Montgomery Road Yaba
4. Ozumba Mbadiwe
5. Ozumba Mbadiwe to Lekki
6. Badagry Expressway
7. Ajose Adeogun Street
8. Adetokunbo Ademola Street

Okay let us have your 12 projects done by FG before I continue with my next set of multiple of 4
All these road you listed were not constructed by fashola. They existed long before fashola arrived. Adetokunbo Ademola and Ozunba Mbadiwe, (Ojuelegba to Alaka is just 5 poles apart so I don't know what u talking about) and others have been very good roads. He expanded Lekki road, a project started by Tinubu. He fixed the roads around Alausa, he fixed the idimu to Ojo road that leads to LASU, he fixed the roads around Maroko. But I can go on and on to show you bad road all over Lagos that have been totally abandoned. Fashola has not constructed new roads. He only fixed some existing roads. Get your facts right
PoliticsRe: What Are The Projects Commissioned By Gej? by edicolove: 9:17am On Jul 22, 2012
While I think scoring GEJ now will be too early, I can jumpstart that with the following:

In roads, Zaria-Funtua-Gusau roads, Oshodi-Apapa with expansion and drainage works, dedicated bridge frm liverpool roundabout to Tin can ports, trailer park, Dualisation of Ibadan -Ilorin, ENUGU-Onitsha, completion of OWERRI -Onitsha, 9th mile, ongoing reconstruction of Benin-Ore-Sagamu highway measuring over 265 km, Kano-Maidugri Dualisation. Keffi -Akwanga-Lafia, award of Afikpo-Okigwe, Auchi-Okene being handled by Setraco. Loko-Eweta-Karishi bridge, Kolo-Nembe -Brass to mention but a few.
