PoliticsRe: What Are The Projects Commissioned By Gej? by edicolove: 9:07am On Jul 22, 2012
nairawall: Can we list some of the successful projects gej has been able to commission done by his government? I am talking about projects his government initiated and implimented.

If lagos government can constantly commission world class projects with the limited access to oil funds, one is forced to wonder what really is GEJ and his team doing with our oil revenue.
Please can you tell us the world class projects that Fashola has commisioned. All we see are propaganda projects just like the Tinubu enron scam. The Oshodi apapa expressway is being fixed by GEJ, not Fashola. The Lagos Ibadan railway was fixed by GEJ not Fashola. The modernisation of that rail track has just being commisioned for work by GEJ not Fashola. Fashola has done well in transportation, beautification and environment, traffic decongestion but he has failed woefully in Education, health care, roads, flood control, waterways, essential services particularly water. Please don't compare GEJ with Fashola because GEJ still has the benefit of doubt after one year. He could eventually perform or he could fail badly but Fashola has gone five years and all I can see is propaganda.

Oluwadare: This rating will always be influenced by our emotions & sentiments per se, anyway lemme keep my mouth shut to avoid derailing or veering of this thread. Bcz am a BALL-BOY to OBJ, hence i've too much INFOs & privy of all these listed gov'nors. Or shall i begin?
My very point. Its a lousy rating based on sentiments, hype and perception, not on facts on the ground. To be honest, the only governor that has shown any true sense of revolutionary leadership in Nigeria is Donald Duke and the guy there now is on reverse gear. Akpabio is on that path but i cannot even give him that accolade yet because he has had more money than Duke and i will only give him full accolade at the end of his second tenure. The rest are just repairing stuff. No long term vision. Abeg give us better gist if you get! No fall hand o.

perez100: We congratulate you all for your opinions, we didn't want to bring this topic here because we thought it would only lead to insult and the use of abusive languages, but the result we see and contributions are quite wonderful.

However, there was a poll for this topic, and to be sure of the votes, we decided to do our confirmation here and some other traffic sites.

It was as a result of the confirmation that we struck out Governors Mimiko and Peter Obi who were narrowly edged out of the top 5 performing governors, but they made the top 10 list.
Guy you are funny. You did a poll for the topic? Ok be sincere tell me. The people that voted, how many states have they being to in Nigeria? How can someone who lives in Lagos and hardly travels up to twice in a year be asked to vote for the best governor in Nigeria? I put it to you that you are a politician just trying to do a sort of political observation and sampling. We know how this works. lol
PoliticsRe: Who Are The Top 5 Performing Governors In Nigeria? by edicolove: 8:34pm On Jul 21, 2012
@op, I told you before that the thread is setup to fail but you were too lazy to ask the right questions. In the end, what you will get is popularity contest winners not performance contest winners.

You can't just ask people online to start telling you who the best governors are. Many of those posting in this thread are in diaspora. Many others have never travelled to more than 2 or 3 states. When I raised a few issues with Oshiomole for example, someone attacked me. Why, because some people just want to believe what they want to believe. I carefully avoided suggesting any list in all my posts because no such poll will be accurate. If you really want to know the best governors, you have to design the question systemically to get the right answer. You have to look closely at the indexes. One fact is clear about all the governors including the Akpabio I praised and that is they are all embezzling their state funds. Some definitely more than others but you get the drift. Another thing you have to understand is that governors that have fierce oppositions tend to advertise their work more than others. That doesn't necesarily mean they are performing better. I remember how Tinubu was erecting mega billboards for every one kilometer of road he constructed. I did say back then that it was a PR stunt. He actually celebrated the repairs of Adeola Odeku road with a party that was held on the road on a weekday causing untold suffering to road user for almost 5 hours. Can you beat that? Lol.

Maybe you should look around you more. Do you see much happening? And he hasnt really helped himself with his leadership style. He is charismatic but not people oriented. Oshiomole, Rochas and Akpabio are good examples of people oriented governors. People say Oshiomole won because he has done so much. I disagree. I think he won because he has connected so well with the people. Politics is about perception. You can do little and appear to do so much if you know how to convey your message to the people.

Please dont tell me about a virtual rice processing plant. Are you eating rice produce by Lagos state? lol. And please how can you post one link to one renovated martenal facility as his achievement in 5 years. In fact, that is a combined achievement of Tinubu and Fashola in 12+ years.

jason123: And Rivers state is poor (second richest)? What about Imo state (5th richest)? Pls, find another excuse!
Lagos state is not only the richest state, it comes with a bonus. There are lots of organisations in Lagos state that contribute to the development of Lagos on their own. Most of the health centers I have been to were renovated by MTN foundation not LASG. Several schools where renovated by Indomie and Peak. Lagos state water is not working. The streetlight are not working. Some roads like the Adeniji jones/Acme bypass have been totally abandoned. The companies around the area are the ones putting gravel on the road. And that is one of the most important roads connecting Ikeja and Ogba. There is zero security in Lagos. Everyone is on their own. Armed bandits now daringly come into estates and operate unchallenged. We all depend on OPC for protection. The only new road i can see is the Isheri/Ojo road. Some roads have been renovated but Lagos has not constructed many new roads. Alimosho is totally abandoned. The much talked about Lagos water ways is still on the drawing board after over 10years. And the leadership style is simply draconian! I could go on and on. A lot of what you hear is just paper propaganda.

Prestonvic: AKPABIO
FASHIOLA
AMAECHI
OSHIOMOLE
CHIME

For a governor to construct over 250 brand new roads, state of the art IBOM AIRPORT,Prompt payment of salaries, beautification of the state, free and compulsory education for resident of akwa ibom state, security, state owned power plant, giving free houses to the widows, scholarships to student in tertiary inst. etc etc. UNDER CONSTRUCTION ARE: Deep sea port, WORLD CLASS stadium, 8 lane ring road, 3 flyovers etc, VISIT AKWA IBOM AND SEE - AKPABIO is the best
Didnt really want to particularly praise any governor but you forced my hand. What makes Akpabio really stand out is that he has carried everyone along. The whole state now see his vision and it is a beatiful one. One person that had the kind of Mentality Akpabio has was Donald Duke. But his predecesor has made mockery of his effort. Some will argue that Imoke has less funds, but the point is that with the infrastructure on the ground he could have generated funds but he choose to look at the FG and derivation. Maybe the status of Cross Rivers now will make him see things differently. Akpabio is a master builder and a great leader. I wish i was from that state.

Billyonaire: Lagos is the richest state. Yet, the road on my part of lagos is tolled. I pay 150 each time I pass. The roads are developed based on PPP, every bar I enter, they charge me VAT and service charge, me i never know what Fashola has done for my part of Lagos yet. Cos Government is not giving me water, no light and the road, I drive, I pay as I pass. I hear Fashola is trying. Congrats to him, but I no feel it. Sorry.
Like I posted above, most of what you hear sometimes are just chants. For example, most people who say Oshiomole is doing so well say so because they keep comparing him with lucky. As long as you keep comparing him with lucky, he will always emerge a superstar. But when you compare him with expected standards, it becomes a different thing entirely and after 4 years, all the flood points in Benin are still as bad as ever. No change. He like Fashola, has concentrated in beautifying the city center and providing transportation. He has renovated some schools too. But when you look at many other index like workers welfare, industries, social services, health care, just like Fashola, he comes up very very short.
PoliticsRe: Who Are The Top 5 Performing Governors In Nigeria? by edicolove: 4:06pm On Jul 21, 2012
@op, you started a thread but prepared it to fail. How can you ask people who dont traverse Nigeria to give you the list of best governors. They will only give you a list of governors they like or give you a reply based on what the papers say. According to many papers, Orji is doing very well. lol

You must ask more specific questions to get proper answers. Most south west folks would tell you Fashola is the best and so on. But you must ask for real developement index to get the facts. For example, how can someone even put Oshiomole in the list of 5 performing governors in Nigeria. There is a big difference between a governor with promise and a performing governor. Oshiomole is a governor with a lot of promise and he is comign up, but to compare him with people like Akpabio and Fashola and Chime is very absurd. Same goes for Rochas. He is an upcoming with a lot of promise. People come here and tell youu he has constructed a lot of roads in one year. How many serious roads can you construct in one year? That is the propaganda you see all over Naija. Rochas is a very promising guy and he is doing well, but he is still way way off for you to place him in that bracket. You cant just roll out bulldozers on the streets and then claim you have already constructed a serious road just like that. It takes a lot of time and planning. So I urge you to somehow rephrase your question to specifics else you will keep getting funny answers

As long as our reps down south continue to 'play catcher' with the northern reps, these kinds of effontery will continue to be shoved in our face!
All the while clashes between herdsmen and farmers are being reported in various parts of the country, what stopped our reps from sponsoring a ranch bill in which these herdsmen will be camped in their localities up north? Instead we allowed them to spring us a surprise and we are now on the defensive opposing the bill.
This is the result of sheer political naivety on our part.

ganye1: even you swear Million times they will still tell you it is the work of Muslim. Is their anywhere in the story where the bombing was linked to Muslims that made them to arrive at such conclusio? If with all the evidence of christians bombing churches they still think, without evidence, that it is Muslims who planted the bomb you cannot convince them that this has nothing to do with Islam.
Those of you pushing this kind of arguments are not helping. You are only giving everyone the belief that you are sympathetic to BH. Trying to sell a propaganda that Christians are the ones bombing only makes you look foolish. Trying to sell the propaganda that the US and Isreal are the ones behind it is just silly. Everyone can see the facts clearly. It stares us in the face everyday.

1. Almost all muslim countries are at war with or are grappling with terrorism.
2. Osama Bin Laden was a muslim
3. Abdulmuttalab, the young Nigerian boy who tried to bomb a plane was a muslim and he was not even from a poor home
4. These young muslim kids get training from Islamic clerics in mosques around the world. They are told that Islam must conquer the world and all Isrealis are dogs.
5. A lot of us have lived in the north and have experienced these things first hand
6. The corpers that were killed after the 2011 election had their throats slashed by young lads shouting Allah Arkbar!
7. Kids are not taught in churches to kill anyone. Not muslims, not anyone
8. Muslims are not being attacked in the south. They live peacefully here. They only fear reprisals when there are attacks in the north
9. No other religion has written in its books that infidels should be killed.
10. I haven't seen you northerners come out to speak against these people. Instead you try to support them and device conspiracy theories
11. On top of all these, BH has been bombing churches and taking responsibility and asking for full sharia implementation
12. The northern leaders have not said that BH is not a northern thing. They have actually being asking for government to dialogue with them.

These are hard facts you cannot deny. So when you try to tell us funny conspiracy stories, you make us laugh.

What will convince us Islam is not supportive of violence is simple. Come out to overwhemingly condemn these attacks. Put up a fight against them from your communities. That is what is done down south. Bakkasi boys took care of armed robbers et all in Aba and Onitsha. Aba boys went after the kidnappers and hunted them down. In warri and sapele, if you get too stup1d, the people will treat your f!up. In south west, OPC will rise to the occasion. Government must do their job but there is a very fundamental role the society plays in these kind of crisis. Once the society where the evil exists rises up in unison to speak and fight against it, it becomes easier to flush it out. But when the society accepts it, then there is little anyone can do.

Demdem: Edistupid, here we go again. I always enjoy attending to ur stupidity. grin grin

It takes both the house and senate to Impeach the Retardeen. The house can independently go ahead to Impeach him but without corresponding vote from the Senate ( which will definately be because the senate is inside the Executives pocket) the retardeen will still be in power.
However, that singular vote from the House goes a long way and sends a strong message. Something similar happened during the Bill clinton era when he was impeached by the House but the senate said No.

besides, The house has not even commenced the impeachment, its simply a warning, a threat and an healthy warn for that matter. that exactly is the crux of the matter and i expect Nigerians to attend to this than the impeachment itself which may never happen.

Implement the Budget or we will commence impeachment proceedings. What is wrong with such?
U are simply pathetic.
Every passing day, you confirm my suspicion that you never attended a tertiary institution. You are definitely a SSCE holder at best. You can't even coordinate your write ups.

Secondly, the reasons given by the house to me is reasonable and the right call.
Implement the budget or get impeached. Its about time we all put our govt on their toes and do as mandated by law.
kudos to the house. I wouldnt want a rubber-stamp House the way the senate is today. this is the essence of checks and balances.
You are here making noise as usual. How is the house of reps going to impeach the president? Do you know what it takes to impeach the president? Even in a gazillion years, they can't impeach the president. They are just blowing hot air. they are just like 10 percent of what it takes. But its good because we do expect them to sit up. Its the job of the legislators to put the executive on their toes and they should start to do it instead of stuffing the caps in cap banking style! What makes a government work is checks and balance.

I do hope they do this in the interest of Nigerians though and tackle real issues not fight a war over Facrook's case. It will be to all our interest.

I told y'all that this man and Oshiomole will be back to the PDP. He knows what he is saying. He knows he can't be president under APGA or ACN or CPC. I said it long ago before the 2011 elections that this man just needed to join APGA to unseat Ohakim since Ohakim won't let him go past the primaries.

He is wrong on one one thing though. Its not just the PDP internal democracy that denied him the governorship ticket. Its the electoral act and the governors have been fighting against any change that will ensure a level playing field. It has to be modified to allow a level playing field. The incubent governors are too powerful.

I have said it also that the most performing governors will always be 1. Those that have big future ambitions and 2. Those who have very strong oppositions in their state.

Like all right thinking Nigerians, Soyinka has downplayed the importance conferred on Dame Patience's appointment by gutter tabloids and opposition elements. The truth is that the issue should never even have been an issue for National discourse as it is trivial, mundane and irrelevant to the general outlook of the Nation's administration and the scant attention Soyinka gives the issue is an example for all Nigerians.

As competition drives down the prices of goods, a lot of firms will start searching for cheap labour just to stay competitive; this can lead to an unfair exploitation especially in a developing country like Nigeria.
Secoundly, most of the good produced by forein investors in Nigeria are locally consumed, that will scare them away.
Lastly, the market might be flooded with fake goods.
