PoliticsRe: Why You'll Never Vote For Muhammadu Buhari? by edicolove: 8:20am On Apr 05, 2011
I have read both threads. one on why You'll Never Vote For Goodluck Jonathan, the other on You'll Never Vote For Buhari.

The difference is that the one on Buhari has actual events and timelines and the one on Jonathan were mostly perceptions like, he is weak, he doesnt look competent, he didnt do anything for Bayelsa, he defended mend and so on. Not many facts or actual events of historical magnitude. For example, the "defending mend" accusation is hardly a reason why I will not vote for someone but truncating a democracy is a history changer. A changer of the destinies and future of millions.

I think someone should put the 2 in a comparison chart and see which one looks really worse. I have a feeling the Buhari chart will make Goodluck look like an angel.

His inability to address the security situation in the country and playing politics with the numerous bombings in the country.
either he lacks the political will or he is truly inept.

----------------------------------------------------------

there has been series of killings and bombings in America over the last 3years. the newyork case. the Oklahoma case and many more. have you seen anyone calling for Obama's head? please dont use such things as arguments. if he gives in to the bombings, it means the bombers have achieved their aim, which is blackmail.

they have been trying to sabotage him and it seems it is working because people like you are now using it against him. this is what the bombers want. how do you tackle a group that have no face. you think it takes political will. no. it takes modern security technics which Nigeria must now develop. Buhari's gestapo style will not solved it. it will only aggravate it. if Buhari assumes power, the country will be a walking time bomb because he will try to be a military style person and it wont work because things have changed since 1984

Abeg make una vote for person who una wan vote for, its not by force for everyone to have the same opinions about a person. All this GEJ, BB debate is tiring. I am more interested in what the appointment of either of them will do for out country that is falling to pieces. I was one of the few that was happy for GEJ when he became president, but so far he has disappointed, especially in the area of security of human lives and property. His inability to contain issues is very distressing to me as a person. Look at the spate of killings, bombings and such that has happened during his time, granted its not his fault, but he responded poorly to each and every single one of them. God helps us
you have spoken well but you forgot to add that the bombings are a direct effort to sabotage GEJ. Imagine the boko aram people trying to sabotage GEJ just because he is not from the north and you tell me we should not be tribal. this is one reason believe me that GEJ will get a lot of votes. the north must show they are willing for us to come together as one. Buhari's campaign in the north was all about tribe and region and how do you think a typical niger delta person will see that. the crowds around him showing they support him because he is from their region. please if you guys want a balanced Naija, then we must be honest. these guys will come in again and take our resources and leave us in a bad state. Buhari is the worst of its kind because he is of the oligarchy that believes they are born to rule.

fashola in lagos has not produced 20, 000 jobs in 4years,

Do not attempt that one ooooo!!!! Ordinary LAMATA And LAWMA new hires in the last 4 years probably outnumber that oo!! NO make his minions come catch you for this one ooo!!

Quote from: edicolove on Today at 10:45:01 PM
how can osun state governor do it? if you combine lastma and KAI and lawma and LSIR and others, they are hardly up to 20, 000. 20, 000 receiving an average salary of N20, 000 a month will cost the state 400million a month as salaries alone. and you have not even considered the old workers already there. the average government junior worker goes home with over 25, 000. what is osun's state budget in a year? please tell me you are more intelligent than this. not even akwa ibom, collecting the highest money from FG wll employ 20, 000 in 100 days. please dont push this kind of argument. it doesnt make you look smart.

Also, Average Salary is not N20,000 per month. I believe it was N6000 until recently.
it clearly shows you probably dont live in naija or you are deliberately lying.do you know what is 20, 000 workers? Fashola has not employed that much. please dont lie just to win an argument. and nobody receives 6000 as salary. please dont say things that make you look bad. the last time workers were receiving 7, 500 as basic was in OBJs time. that was when the NLC went on strike and demonstrated. that is so so long ago. Fashola can claim that the things he had done has created that much job. that will be another argument for another day. but as direct employment, please!

Can you imagine someone who calls GEJ fresh and that's the reason he is voting. You refuse to support Ribadu any longer because he's pitched tents with Tinubu - the fradulent , yet you think GEJ walks alone?

How do you think he was picked to be running mate of Yar 'Adua's ? Was it because of anything tangible he achieved? Was he that respected in PDP? Did he deserve it? Who picked him? Godfathers? And are these Godfathers still around?
Does GEJ owe them? Does he still feel the need to be grateful for reaching where he never deserved?

Answer all these questions sincerely from your heart and tell me again that he is fresh. And if you walked away from Ribadu for reasons of perceived corruption, must that same principle not apply to GEJ?
All VPs all over the world including the one in the party you support are picked. they are not elected like the presidential candidate. i dont understand your statement above. and the greatest criteria you look for when picking a VP is loyalty and trust. the next criteria is normally his/her appeal to certain demography, just like Obama picking a more experienced person as VP to counter those who said he had no experience. please i told you, answer objectively.

I didnt say i walked away just because of corruption alone. the reason i walked away is the hypocrisy. he reneged on his word because of his ambition and therefore cannot be trusted. GEJ has never been a hypocrite. i wouldnt call him a saint because i cannot vouch for all his life.i dont live with him. but i havent seen any hypocrisy with him. dont forget that the same ACN that walked away from the one man one vote event organised by Oshiomole because of the presence of IBB, have gone to him for endorsement again. what do you call that. please call a spade a spade.

Bros I can't help but laugh at these laudable and indeed laughable achievements from the stables of GEJ as you posted.

1. If you know the cost and overall gbese (debt) GEJ has incurred to score this cheap point of seemingly eradicating fuel scarcity, you'll weep for you future generations. Se how much your country has spent in Q1 of 2011 on subsidy for importation of fuel in the link below.

http://odili.net/news/source/2011/jan/25/821.html

2. Bros PHCN is yet to be privatized. Enough of rhetoric, until PHCN becomes privatized, you cannot claim it as a glory for GEJ. It's like saying since you have passed WAEC simply because you have sat for the exams.

3. Abeg list the refineries that are now working and their daily output. How can refineries be working and we are still importing increasing high volumes of refined products. Na where you get this wrong information from?

4. So na entertainment we all suppose dey do now? Apparently Nigerian youths are so dumb to the extent that Mr. President deems it necessary to provide incentives to the entertainment industry to create jobs. Na so him mates for other parts of the world dey create jobs for thei citizens?

5. At least we have finally confirmed today, the sort of free hand GEJ has been giving to INEC all along. Free hand ko, free leg ni!

6. So firing a member of his campaign team who was running his mouth like tap water is an achievement to you. Your expectation of your government is indeed very modest o! Abeg even my little boy who's just turning 6 expects much more from the Nigerian government.

Sorry pal, your depth of knowledge about governance is indeed questionable. Please take your time to study small countries like Ghana and Rwanda to figure out how they's been able to get it right while we are still groping in the dark.
your answer simply gives you away as a biased person who will find fault in everything just to win an argument. you should be objective. i dont expect you to agree with all i say but you should be objective. just like the proverb says, you are giving a dog a bad name in order to kill it. my points are indeed true and commendable and even some opposition people have acknowledge that. the only thing i will add is that you should not show that you are not current. the local refineries re working. the reason we are still importing fuel is because they do not meet our demands. that is why new ones are needed. both the warri, portharcourt and kaduna refineries are all working. it is a known fact. please update yourself.

there are truths and there are cliches. corruption is not the greatest problem in Nigeria. this is what a lot of you on NL keep saying but it doesnt make it true. the greatest problem in Nigeria is that we are not one people.

Unfortunately, I do not agree with you again here!!! Corruption remains a big hinderance to development in much of the country. We recently celebrated the rise in GDP, much credited to the increase in oil output, but we never really take time to investigate the trend in the oil economy and how it has remained somewhat resistant to the problems that continue to plague all other aspects of our economy.

The oil industries DO NOT DEPEND on our government on the most part .  .  . all many of theses companies require from us are information on policies and the rest is up to them, and they seem to know how to manage their business better than we manage the whole country. While the world was in global recession, these companies were instead busy dealing with the one treat they found the major hinderance to their production. As soon as Yar adua helped tackle that problem, the companies went back to running themselves as efficiently as they could. While Nigerians were wondering where their president was, the oil companies were busy growing -- production rose and in return pay to our Government increased. While Jonathan was busy trying to figure out what he would or would not do for the Nation -- these companies were hard at work, churning out oil -- making money for themselves and our country, even in the midst of the chaos and the bombings.

I think it is clear to anyone looking in that the fact that these companies do not themselves run their business on corruption is reason why they seem to be doing really well in a society plagued and sometimes crippled by corruption.

Quote from: edicolove on Today at 08:59:01 PM
as long as we are divided, we will continue to be corrupt. buhari cannot change it in a million years. this is not a military regime. you just cant go around jailing people and killing people. the country has advanced far more than that. you think there are evidence that people like OBJ are corrupt? if there were hard evidence, Atiku would have used it long ago and Tinubu would have been waving it in our faces. Tinubu will give anything to get hard evidence to implicate OBJ. that would be a big plus for him. Atiku would need such an evidence to vindicate himself and he would give anything to have it. these things dont work like you people assume. NIgeria needs to have a system where everyone is respected and welcome and then things will start to change.

The division is as a result of corruption  . . . Nigeria today is more divided than it has ever been in the last 30 years.
your post here shows you have little knowledge of what is going on in the Niger Delta. i come from the Niger Delta, the marginalization in the oil companies is alarming. this same oil companies you are commending are the reason for the destruction of the Niger Delta. They are very comfortable because they are the biggest oil bunkerers. they make far more money from oil bunkering than you can imagine. their greatest collaborators, are the northerners. the indigenious niger delta people cannot do anything about it. this is what gave rise to militancy. please when next you come to nigeria, do a litte travelling and go see for yourself. the norths only interest is to embezzle and dominate. this is the reason for corruption not the other way round. there are what you call causes and effects.

-------------------------------------------------------

please with all due respect, dont post things like this. it doesnt make you look good. even lagos state with the kind of mney it gets from the FG and taxes cannot boast of creating 20, 000 jobs in 100days. that is the biggest lie you can ever say on this board. do you know what it takes to pay 20, 000 people? you obviously have no idea. please dont say things that make you look "stupid" and please i dont mean it in an insulting way. I am not here to analyze the Fashola case . . . simply here to point to the fact that a year is more than enough for any serious leader out there. Ask Fashola, Amaechi Rotimi in River's state, Sullivan Chime in Enugu State, Mimiko in Ondo State, Shekarau in kano state, even Oshiomole in Edo State --- these men have more than shown that a year in office is a long time and anyone who is serious can achieve much in even that short time.
my statement did not imply that GEJ did nothing. i was only being realistic that i do not expect anyone to do much in 1 year and nobody, not even fashola has done that. funny yoU mentioned 2 PDP governors amongst those who have done stuff. CPC supporters will NEVER ADMIT THAT! anyway, if you wnat me to compare, i will

GEJ since assuming the presidency, even after all he suffered from the north, has

1. Eradicated fuel scarcity. I know Buhari supporters will always try to rubbish that. but it is a fact.
2. Has proceeded to privatize PHCN and several companies have just submitted their intentions of interest. over 300 companies have showed interest. even in the face of sabotage by PHCN staff who do not want the status quo to change.
3. Our refineries are now working and he has just announced a plan for new refineries to ensure complete local production.
4. He has announced incentives for various industries like the entertainment and others to create jobs.
5. He has given free hand to INEC to conduct a free and fair elections. Even his enemies have agreed that the choice of Jega was a noble one.
6. He has shown a ot of leadership maturity even in the face of agression and insults from opponents. he just fired a key member of his campaign over a statement on Buhari because he has said he would not engage in insults.

he does have a lot to learn and i think he is humble enough to grow. but he has shown great promise as one who can unite the country, not divide it. fashola did not do that in 6months not even a year. all the projects that fashola did in the first 2 years where projects started in the Tinubu years. he didnt do anything new. i can challenge you to that.

The above is completely all FALSE !!!

Jonathan spent almost 2 years -- 9 December 2005 – 28 May 2007 --- As a Governor. Remember Fashola's First 6 months in office, and how everyone was thrilled that the man was not only able to hit the ground running from day one but that after just 6 months, he had changed much of the perception of Lagoscians, not just by his media songs but by actually delivering on much of the promises he made before taking office, right?? Well, Jonathan had well over 20 months to fulfill some of the promises he made to the people of Bayelsa when standing for re-election with Alams. He never did any of that -- to this day, I hear that Alams is still considered a hero in some of Bayelsa because he actually did some work( the stealing was just terrible) compared to Jonathan who no one is able to pull a real record of acheivement for in all his 8 years serving at the state level.

Fresh implies something new . . . something different from the norm . On the contrary, Jonathan's own record shows he is nothing new or fresh but the same stock we have come to be used to.
i like your analysis but a strongly disagree. i live in lagos. fashola did not do anything tangible in 6 months. fashola was a part of Tinubu's government and was an active part of Tinubu's cabinent and planning team. he is a man with vision i must say. but it is not true that he did much in 6 months. like i posted somewhere else, the adeniji jones bypass had been going on since 2005. they still havent done it half way. most roads in alimosho LGA are in a bad state. you can call up people in agege, iyanopaja, abule egba and many more areas. that is not to say he hasnt tried, i still give him a pass mark because i know these things cant be solved overnight. his biggest problem is actually Tinubu as the latter has been doing everything to derail him because Tinubu wants to control the finance of lagos and become the next Awolowo.

In FAshola's 10 months, we could point to something
i live in lagos. i will vote fashola for governor. but to say he did something in 10months is a big lie. he still hasnt done well in many areas. but i consider him the best of the lot. i went thru the adeniji jones bypass yesterday. they have been working on that road since the last 6 years or more. if you go thru agege and most of alimosho lga, the roads a re very bad. but i still give him a pass mark, but dont say he had something tangible in 10 months.

I think most of the people posting here already have their minds made up, so no need to make an effort to convince them otherwise. But your assertion that BB supporters aren't discussing issues is probably an April fools statement. Go back and read their posts. These guys have the most substance in their posts. And this does not exclude the current thread. There is no need to bully and blackmail. Afterall, PDP and their cohorts have the biggest capacity to bully and they are doing so. Was talking to some people in Nigeria and I was told that the amount of money that has been shared in the past few days is mind boggling. This is in a country where people are living in abject poverty. My support (and infact the support of many others) for BB is not borne out of the fact that we think we stand to gain anything directly. My support was declared after I did a very careful analysis of where we are as a nation and how we got here. Then I asked myself an honest question - keeping regional sentiments away (I'm Igbo), who is the best person, based on past records and present circumstances, to handle the situation. In doing this, I thought of Brazil and what Lulu did for them, and I also looked at Malaysia. This was a very sincere conversation with myself. GEJ didn't cut it. Buhari did.

As to your statement that a good number of us live abroad, that is true. But we've got families and friends in Nigeria who will listen to us.

Vote Buhari 2011.
i will reply you just because for the first time, a buhari supporter has attempted to engage in an intelligent discuss. this is not about supporting PDP or GEJ for me. i would have for example, gladly supported a ribadu. i have been a ribadu supporter for a long time. even when people kept saying he was fighting OBJ's enemies, i stuck with him. but to my biggest suprise, he goes and aligns himself with tinubu. i live in lagos and i know what tinubu is about. tinubu siphoned bilions with the scam enrons power project alone and ribadu tried to prosecute him for that. now he is ribadu's godfather. it is very disappointing. ordinarily, ribadu would have been my candidate. but he has just shown he is as corrupt as any other person for me.

but the problem i do have with buhari is that "based on past records and present circumstances" like you said, buhari has been a total failure. GEJ on the other hand is a fresh hand which you can neither totally praise nor totally condemn. he is just fresh, just like Obama was b4 the US election. he only spent 1 year as a governor. because of this he enjoys a lot of goodwill all over the country. i travel the country alot because of my job and believe me when i say he enjoys a lot of good will. he will win majority votes in states where the PDP may not do well in the Governorship or senate. you should vote your conscience. but to come on here to try to ridicule GEJ or his supporters in just wrong and imature. this is democracy. may the best man win. let the people speak.

first and foremost, i will never vote a mallam into government again. they ruled for 39 years and destroyed the economy because they are simply not good money or business managers. they come from a culture that says when you are poor, God made you so. They think they are born to rule and they refer to the rest of us as slaves and second class citizens. they prefer to give the poor food and money and get them to keep coming back to them for their daily needs. that is why you see the almajiris flocking around them. they will never send those almajiris to school because that will liberate them from the bondage. they are slave masters seeking to make everyone else a slave. they are dictatorial by nature. they are hypocrites by nature. i am from Niger Delta. it is our turn to rule. i dont have time to argue with you, but i will tell you this, i just came back from Portharcourt. this is our turn to rule and no amount of intimidation will stop us. we dont want a northerner, period. we will resist it. they have dominated the oil and gas, PHCN and many other industries for so many years and run them aground. they have dominated the military and tried to use that to intimidate us. we will not accept that again, never again. they even carried out a coup right under the nose of GEJ and insulted us. that was the height of ridicule and injustice and we will not accept it again. make no mistake. Niger Delta is one on this. DPP has just declared their total support for GEJ. the Ibos have already done so long ago and the middle belt have done same. it is time to take our lands back. you can shout all you want but it is our time.

Unintelligent, yet they have one vote just like everyother Nigerian!! That is the part your seeming fatigued brain fails to grasp!! INEC didn't register intelligent people, they registered everybody, be they intelligent or dull!! And interestingly, most voters are not highly intelligent! So they love simple things! Sophistication and all the talk of budget implementation, macro economics, Foreign reserves and the like are all latin and rocket science to the average Nigerian voter. Its simple things like humility, simplicity and a charming smile that would win the votes!!! Thats what GEJ gave to them and boy. . . .it worked real good!!!

And dude, about intelligence, you don't stand a chance with most GEJ supporters even here on NL. . . . . so quit it!!
applause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A degree in biology is better than all of Buhari's qualifications. If you have a degree yourself, you will easily know that. Babangida, Abacha and the rest of them attended the same schools Buhari attended and you can see how they all reason. its not worth more than a school cert. some of you are just showing you never attended a university. please dont reveal your educational status. it is not cool.

Typical unintelligent and low IQ statement by GEJ dolts. In their weak and shallow minds, GEJ's simplicity is going to provide food and clean water, electricity, good education, health care and good quality on life,

D/umb fools,
yes it will. thats what we need. a simple man with action. and for your information, i now enjoy 18 hours electricity everyday since they hit 4000MW of electricity. you definitely leave in Iraq or Libya. ask Lagosians how the electricity has been this year.
