jidamsel43: Which danger.
In my area in Lagos , people don't care about any Covid-19 . Government and doctors are just deceiving Nigerians with closure of schools. Children have been going to markets without social distancing
children have been attending lessons without social distancing. Many lessons have more than 50 pupils in attendance. You will be surprise to find almost ten pupils sitting on a bench .
Schools that are organized are closed while markets that have no guidelines or regulations are opened. You said it all jare! Express permission to share please. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Cleanliness Really Next To Godliness? by Egalitarian1: 9:52am On Jun 14, 2020 |
BackllGodNaija: Is Cleanliness Really Next To Godliness?
It certainly is, however it's not in the sense of "clean hands" (outward appearance) as the world thinks, but that of a clean heart.
The Pharisees were known to be very clean men outwardly, but the Bible says that inwardly they were "full of all uncleanliness". Matthew 23:25-27
In other words their evil deeds and thoughts of their hearts made them to be unclean, so it couldn't be possible that their outward cleanliness was next to godliness.
It's true that lot of people have lost their lives to the Coronavirus, but not every life lost of recent has been taken by the killer virus.
Some innocent lives have been heartlessly taken by some humans during this same period as well, for instance, Uwaila Vera Omozuwa who was raped and murdered by her fellow human beings.
So even if such heartless men wash their hands and body very well, after committing such an heinous act, and become outwardly as clean as the Pharisees, would their cleanliness be next to godliness?
I'm not oblivious of the fact that there's been so much apprehension in the land for the killer virus, because of the potency and speed at which it ravages human lives, however let's not be quick to forget that there's a worse death than that of our physical body, which is the death of our soul.
The Bible says, "what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and lose his own soul?" Matthew 16:26
So as much we fear the death of our physical body, and consequently do everything we possibly could to ensure our hands, body etc are clean, let be more afraid of the death of our soul and hence also do everything possible to keep our hearts clean. Matthew 10:28
That's the cleanliness that's truly next to godliness.
God bless Nigeria. Thank you and remain immensely blessed for this soul enriching article. It's indeed, a spiritual supplement! |

Hmmmm
OP though you raised some points but kindly be informed that the government at the centre is the one playing politics of hatred and bitterness against the Southeast.
In a real democratic government, each individual or region is at liberty to vote according to convictions in exercise of fundamental human rights without consequences afterwards.
In a sane country, once election is over, justice and fairness champion the activities of the government of the day but unfortunately, in Nigeria what you inherit from the government is directly proportional to your voting pattern. So, fix culpability where culpability is and stop shifting the blames and legitimizing an illegality.
What happened to the ever deceitful and ironical Federal Character Commission? What stops the government at the center from practising the stipulations of the said commission religiously for even distribution of the resources of the country?
Igbos undoubtedly may not be getting everything right but they are indeed, the true Nigerians that strive to enthrone merit in leadership in sharp contradiction to the present condition. And a nation that her government determines its infrastructural distribution in tandem with regional voting pattern in a particular election can never lay claim to equity and justice! |

A nice piece by OP. Thanks so much for this wonderful write up!
Personally, I'm a very detribalised Nigerian and a proud Igbo man. I have friends from all tribes in Nigeria and it dates back to my secondary school years. I love every Nigerian irrespective of tribe and religion.
During my M.Sc. programme in UI, I was among the popular(if not the most popular) PG students of the Department. I made friends from all tribes that I met over there and we still maintain good contacts. In fact, my roommate throughout the third semester of the programme was a Yoruba Muslim and an Alfa at that(while I'm an Igbo & Christian) yet, we saw each other as brothers and we are still maintaining good contacts. We learned a lot from each other because we ceased the opportunity to always share constructive opinions on religious, political and multicultural issues of Nigeria. We cooked and ate from the same pot, enjoying Igbo and Yoruba delicacies prepared by myself and him respectively. Honestly, he remains a very good friend and brother to reckon on. So, let us stop the media hate and focus on the best ways to move Nigeria forward via love, peace, equity, justice and truthfulness!
Together we can fight our divide and rule politicians because they have always enjoyed great political capital from instigation of ethnoreligious sentiments amongst the masses.Hence, they are our greatest problem. |

Dganji: excatly. You know, during my childhood days before my kid sister was born ive stayed with her mother for holidays. She was never harsh to me, infact i must confess she pampered me to the extent my dad had to avoid me going to stay with her, also ive stayed with my uncles who always treats me well. They canned me when necessary and treated me like their children, even their wives were not harsh to me but how do i explain to people that my mom is behaving badly to their children when i know they treated me well? Ill still look for a way to talk to her and see reasons from this angle too. Thanks for the idea, its an inspiration.. All the sermons that you would be needing to have a heart-to- heart with your mum have already been summarized by the same you here. So, search no more. Believe me, if you can highlight these points emotionally to your Mum, her hard heart towards the innocent girl will melt for good. And when discussing this with her, spark it up with tears ( wether crocodile own,all join) and you will see your mum melting literally before you. Advisably, have that your youngest brother around too while having the emotional talks with your Mum! May God soften her heart towards the innocent girl and sow an everlasting seed of love there in,Amen! |
