2,000,000 monthly
As at 2019, Nigeria had about 11,877 professors (though this include both those on private and public higher institutions).
That means; monthly, the government will pay 2,000,000 x 11,877 = 23,754,000,000. That's over twenty three billion naira monthly.
As at today, Nigeria produces about 1.2m BPD of crude oil (Our main source of income, excluding mineral resources from the north which I don't know why they don't mention it. Only God knows where that money is going to). Using the official exchange rate of about 414 naira/dollar, If 1 barrel is about 93 dollars, this becomes 1,200,000 x 93$ = 111,600,000 per day
that's a total income of 111,600,000 x 414 = 46,202,400,000 (Nigeria's income from crude oil).
THEN; 46,202,400,000 x 30 days = 1,386,072,000,000. This is over 1.3 Trillion naira monthly.
Boy o boy, This country is making money.
SUMMARILY, THE GOVERNMENT CAN PAY ASUU COMFORTABLY. So there is no cost to the production of crude? And the oil companies that are producing it are good samaritans that produce every barrel and hand it over to Nigeria? Don't comment on what you don't know for likes. Nigeria cannot afford to triple the salary of ASUU members which is what is being recommended. |
Education › Re: FG Committee Recommends ₦ 2 Millions Monthly Pay For Professors by einsteine(m): 9:54am On Jul 15, 2022 |
That's too much.
It's because Nigerian politicians earn so much, that's why everyone is demanding higher wages. The country cannot afford to pay all professors this amount considering the position of professor in Nigeria is a permanent one till the age of 70. Also, an increase of professor's salary to 24 million a year will mean increase for other categories of lecturers too. That's too much expenditure at this time. |
Politics › Re: Idahosa As VP: Kwankwaso Working For Tinubu - Obi's Supporters by einsteine(m): 2:55pm On Jul 14, 2022 |
einsteine: Some Obi supporters are actually brainless. The Edo state they are talking about, we shall see next year whether that's a Peter Obi stronghold, like they are deluding themselves. That a vocal minority of people online are supporting a candidate does not mean that the market women association in Ogbese, Ovia Southwest won't vote PDP or the people of Uneme in Akoko Edo won't vote APC. Obi supporters lack a sense of scale and an understanding of what actually happens during elections. By the way, both Obi and Kwankwaso are having the same effect: helping to increase the fortunes of the APC. It's simple math. The electorate is divided into people who like Tinubu and those who don't. Assuming no Obi or Kwankwaso, most of those who don't will vote Atiku. Obi's presence helps reduce the vote of the strongest contender, Atiku. And yes, Atiku is the strongest contender so he is the one who is losing votes. In summary, in a first past the post voting system like the one used in Nigeria, all votes for anybody other than the person who came second are effectively votes for the winner. A better voting system for Nigerian presidential elections would be as follows: All candidates contest in a first round election and the top 5 candidates are selected. A second round election is then done and this time voters are not voting for one person but ranking the candidates from best to 5th best. Allocate 5 for the best down to 1 for the 5th best (just like the Balon door voting). The person with most points win. The advantage of this system is that extreme candidates like Buhari or Tinubu will not be able to win elections. The person who wins will be the most accepted by the widest range of people. Also, candidates "without structure" and third party candidates in general have better chances of winning. |

There are many pathways by which kidney disease could develop. Apart from genetics, toxins, immunological factor, trauma could damage the Podocyte. Your first sentence shows you did not read. Nigerians abroad and Nigerians in Nigeria, do they have different genes? It's like asking while do we have sickle cell among blacks in the US when there is no malaria. From the affidavit, Mr Onyeama sent amnesty funds to the United States through NGOs and on getting to the US used those funds to purchase aircraft. This is classic money laundering, disguising the source of the funds and transforming them into a "cleaner" asset.
Onyeama set up several NGOs that were awarded contracts in 2012-2013 to rehabilitate Niger Delta militants. He is a friend to Kingsley Kuku who was the amnesty chairman.
So for those who want a deeper insight into the allegations, you best read the indictment from the US Justice department rather than rely on Premium Times summary.
Also, due to the fact that there might be strong political fallouts if Allen O is arrested (there are rumors that he is linked to the former first lady), Buhari was never going to approve an extradition.
The days of Onyeama visiting Atlanta regularly are over. |

Worst case scenario, they seize the money in the company account. No, it's not like it, even though what you state is currently a criminal offence in Nigeria. Go and download the FBI affidavit and you would understand why Onyeama is at risk of a maximum of 20 years imprisonment. If it was as light a matter as you make this, Mr Onyeama would have since visited the US as he has a valid visa. In fact, he has been permanently in Nigeria since the FBI released the complaint and indictment |

Skillgate: You have once again blindfolded these enslaved northern poor population to vote wrongly this 2023 just the way you did in the last election. But I strongly believe that Kwakwanso is not yet properly informed about this Obidient movement. I think he should wait and see when the real campaign starts, the northern youths who have been frustrated into banditry, kidnapping and boko haram instruments of destruction will be enlightened and they have a choice to make. If they're not tired of poverty and begging, they should go ahead and repeat what they did in 2015. I think it's time you drop your ego and partner with Peter Obi to liberate Nigeria or Labour party should go for Sanusi, the former CBN governor. He's even a better choice. If Labour Party could even get an ordinary northerner as VP candidate, they would have used that person as placeholder instead of Doyin okupe. The average Northern Muslim is going to be unwilling to be a Vice to Obi because he is Igbo. A sad fact that Obi supporters don't want to hear. That includes even the Sanusi you talk about. For a typical Northern Muslim politician, to accept that running mate role would be to destroy your future in the eyes of the Northern Muslim people. |

I rather obi contest and loeses than be vice to anyone There will be no time, forever and ever, where the North will vote an Igbo man. If it ever happens, it would be an Igbo from Delta or Rivers state who will have to downplay his "Igboness". |

Eddygourdo: What majority of these people don't realize is that Peter Obi's Candidacy is a statement from the youths. We are ready to lose the election. We don't mind if an Igbo man is never the president of Nigeria. at least we cant be accused of being part of the destruction of Nigeria , or the pain that will come from 2023. Other tribes who have ruled and are going to rule can take the blame for that. We will vote Peter Obi, even if he runs with a goat or sheep as VP. With the constant mention of peter obi, one would have to start wondering if the likes of Al- mustapha, Dumebi Kachikwu , Sowore are not in this election. Kindly focus on your candidates please and Leave our Obi for us. We want to waste our votes. Allow us waste our Igbo votes. Who are these youths you talk about? So in your opinion, all youths are planning to vote for Obi who by the way is in his 60s? It is attitude like this that made the democrats look to Trump. They just assumed that nobody in his right mind would vote for Trump. When this was combined with the bullying of Trump supporters to stay mute, they were shocked with the result. That's the same thing you Obi supporters are saying when you say youths this, youths that. You are assuming that every youth or even a majority of youths are supporting Obi. Tunnel vision. You are choosing to see only what you want to see. |

wiseoneking: Who is a Northerner he's talking about? Benue man or Taraba, kogi, southern KADUNA, plateau southern Gombe and southern Bauchi, FCT, southern Boronu, Nasarawa or where? The early he comes to terms that these afore mentioned places are not core or Islamic Fulani Hausa North, the better his brain is set from the right. Let everyone get this truth, northern Christian population still stands to almost 40% of her population with Benue and plateau having the highest.
Moreover, nobody even knows kwankwoso in the whole of the south. I laugh at his ignorance You guys suffer from tunnel vision. No one knows Kwankwanso in the south but you believe people will vote for Peter Obi in the North? Kwankwanso is known more in the south than Obi is known in the North. You are banking on Northern Christians to vote an Igbo man. Don't worry when the elections get near, that's when Peter Obi's ethnicity would become front and center. Just so you know, a large percentage of the soldiers that fought the civil war were from the middle belt, the so called Christian area that you think will vote Peter Obi on default. They may not like the Fulani but they sure as hell don't like Igbos either. Jonathan, a sitting president, lost in Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and benue while narrowly winning Plateau and Taraba and somehow you guys think Peter Obi would do better. Peter Obi as president would not protect Christians from attack in the same way that Buhari has not protected Muslims from attack. The same clamor for messiah is how the country elected a man with no plan other than him being austere, different and non-corrupt. The same music is being sung from Obi who has not released any policy document or even said anything concrete as to how he is going to do anything. i am willing to bet that Kwankwanso will do better than Peter Obi in the coming election. Neither of them will win though and both of them are only going to hurt Atiku and help Tinubu. |
