It was suicide. Where did you hear your own news?

Rival terrorists were about to capture him so he committed suicide.

The Nigerian Army claims were under Jonathan and that was shown to be false when he kept releasing videos.

I used to own a car, I used to live in Manhattan city, I used to work with Bill Clinton, I was a first class graduate in my set, I was the leader of my community when I was a youth and all those past events are no excuse to the fact that currently you are old, senile, and bereft of modern knowledge. You cannot cheat nature. Wole Soyinka of today is not the same brilliant exceptional great writer of the yesteryears that won Nobel Prize, his time has passed, today is the time of young prolific writers like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her time will also pass just like that of Chinua Achebe and Ekwensi of those days. Everything has time and season, Tinubu's time has passed let him go and rest. Young people promoting Tinubu are shameless and in fact unfortunate.

Tinubu would have been a best option in 2015 but he rather wasted it by throwing his weight behind a dictator cum terrorist Buhari.

Atiku would have been the best option in 2019, but he missed it, we cannot continue to dwell in the past when the present is fast paced.

Let the dead bury themselves and let the young face the future, you cannot bring the old, the dying to revive the future of the young just because the now old people use to be one time generals when they were young. Their time have passed, we should focus on the future.

Tinubu has expired, foisting him on Nigerians will lead to calamity, check my threads, we warned Nigerians in 2015 about Buhari.

If Yorubas are bent on producing the next President no problem, let them have a gentle man agreement with Tinubu to step down for Osinbajo to replace him and we are good to go.

Would you pick Osinbajo ahead of Peter Obi?

Hmm.

Signs that he will probably win.

The more absurd things a presidential candidate I Nigeria does the more likely he is to win.

For those who prefer other candidates, history has shown that more energy should be spent on galvanising your own voters than on shining light on Tinubu's gaffes.

It doesn't matter how many articles are written about Tinubu's incoherence or poor health or the potential of a cabal hijacking his government if he is elected, those who would vote Tinubu would still vote him.

LP supporters, especially, are putting so much focus into highlighting how bad Tinubu is. Why this would work in other climes, in Nigeria, what it causes the supporters of Tinubu to do is to get into a siege mentality and even support Tinubu more.

So again, focus on getting voters.

The existence of God isn't even proven and you expect "him" to be feared?

A man can walk up to you and end your life. No proof that there is a God let alone one with the power to do things.

That's why Christians have more reverence for their clergy than the God they claim to serve. They have proof of the pastor's existence. For God, nada. Just hope and faith.

Argue with yourself all you like, if Jos which is a higher latitude than Jimeta then Adamawa is middle belt. Kwara and Niger are further north than Adamawa.

The so called south east is not the most south eastern part of the country. It is bordered to the east by so called south south sates In fact they are landlocked on all sides. It we are to go by your logic it should probably be called south central and cross rivers called SE. what makes Edo a SS state but imo which is further east and further south a SE state? Like I said continue arguing with yourself. Those of us who know what middle belt meant before you were born have told you what middle belt is. Taraba and Adamawa (Gongola) have always been middle belt. Just as Ibo land has always been “east” even though it is not the most easterly part of the country.

I am also sure you don’t know that Adamawa is not Hausa land. The only connection Adamawa has to the north is that it fell under the Fulani empire. The indigenous people of Adamawa and Taraba are not Hausa in the same way the majority of Borno people are Kanuri.

How can you be sure? Unlike you, some of us have actually gone there and are there. Again, those places are not middle belt. You can use the term Northern minorities like I told you earlier. If I didn't know the ethnic groups there, I wouldn't use the word minorities. Next time, don't say you are sure over something you are not sure.

If you are familiar with Nigerian political history (I doubt), you may be aware of the party called the United Middle Belt Congress. When it started, the actual middle of the country (Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Plateau) were the areas that supplied members. As the times went on, the party became an umbrella for many Northern minorities and those from Adamawa, Bauchi (mostly non Hausas and Christians) joined the party. This is when the middle belt became a misnomer for any northern minority group.

Oga there are towns that are divided into 2 states for political reasons. There are also Ibos in SS and yorubas in NC.

Middle belt is middle belt irrespective of political classifications , just like the yoruba man in Kwara is yoruba and the Ibo man in delta is Ibo.

Adamawa is not Middle Belt Oga. Your examples don't apply here. Middle belt is the North central. Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Plateau,Niger and Nassarawa.

You probably meant Northern minorities. Is Yakubu Dogara from the middle belt? He is a Christian from Bauchi and Babachir Lawal is a Christian from Adamawa. Two nearby States. How is one middle belt and the other North?

A lot of people here were taught French in primary school. Imagine you started secondary school and now all your studies are in the French language. Do you think you would cope well?

That's exactly how it would be if you educate a child in primary school with Igbira and then in secondary school, the child has to learn in English.

Simply put, unless you are going to pick one language (like in China) and use it from primary till university, this policy would have way more disadvantages than advantages.

What's more, they already do this in the North. You can listen to your president speak to tell you all you need to know about the success of the policy.

Once again, the mother tongue should be learned at home. Don't handicap people in a global marketplace of ideas. Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Nupe are not global languages. No shame in admitting that.

What stuupid questions are these?

Are these the answers to the questions you were asked?

I will ask your dumbass again:

What is the relevance of how many languages are in Scandinavia?

What "discussions" will primary school students be having beyond their primary school friends?

They would be going for state conferences for discussions?

In your thick head you think because they say the language of instruction will be in a local language that means English will not be taught at primary schools?

The number of languages in Scandinavia is important because it explains why a policy may be good for them but not good for Nigeria which has over 200 languages.

You may not be well travelled in Nigeria and as such may be forgiven for your ignorance on the topic. In the south south states of Edo and Delta, there are close to 20 languages in each state with neighbouring villages sometimes having very different languages.

People change locations sometimes and having children relearn in different languages will not be ideal.

Simply put, you cannot compare Sweden or Denmark to Nigeria. Those countries have one language and years of linguistic development to support such a policy. Nigeria did not choose to use English as a language of instruction for early instruction by accident. It was a deliberate choice borne out of the peculiarities of the country.

Many primary schools in the Northern part of Nigeria use Hausa as a language of instruction. We can see the outcome in the poor performance of many of these students in competitive examinations. We can also see it in their inability to be fluent in the general lingua franca because of the poor foundation.

Of course, a great deal of introspection is necessary to understand my points and if it misses you, I would not be surprised. You have often manifested a dearth of intelligence.

If you had an IQ in the triple digits, you will not be asking these asinine questions and if you still fail to understand these points, you would have confirmed what I have always known you to be.

You have a well known propensity for being stupid but i will oblige you. So you think if English is the language of instruction means that your "mother tongue" will not be taught in primary schools? You are having this discussion in English, why not resort to your mother tongue?

Starting children in local languages would affect them later in academic life. We see a lot of Nigerian politicians engaging in code switching and other forms of poor communication when speaking and one big reason for this is their early training in their mother tongue.

The world is global now and this faux patriotism or "Proud Nigerian" nonsense is not going to help you. One would have expected you to have a Yoruba username given that you are so overjoyed with your "mother tongue".

There are actually two options:

1) Make local languages the compulsory languages of instruction.

2) Make it compulsory that each kid (raised in Nigeria) must pass a primary school exam in a local Nigerian language to progress or gain entry into any secondary school in Nigeria.

The second one might even be a better policy in my view. That would provide some sense of equity for those not living in their native land but simultaneously force useless parents to speak their mother tongue to their kids; otherwise they would be funding private lessons for 1 or 2 years, after primary school, for their kid(s) to learn a local language before being able to progress to secondary school.

By force, by force, we go remove that colomentality.

Look at P-Square and go check their children's names. Serious colomentality.

The flaw here is that you think fluency in a language can only be achieved by compulsion when it is clear that children assimilate languages without even trying. You don't need to make Yoruba compulsory for a child growing up in Akure to understand it. There is also no indication whatsoever that teaching a child in Yoruba would make the child get better basic education.

Also, Nigeria is a multilingual country, something which is lost on many people. In my mother's local government, there are over 7 languages. A common language has to be the language of instruction to ensure uniformity. Nigeria is not Sweden with one language that has years of linguistic development behind it.

The policy is hinged on the usual faux patriotism. English is a global language and the earlier Nigerians start learning it the better. China, with its technological might, values ESL (English as a second language) teachers as much as engineers.

Nothing bad in allowing your child to learn the predominant language of your host community . Most Igbo kids that grew up in the south west can speak Yoruba fluently .
It is actually a great move if well implemented . In terms of integration of the country and ability of students to understand better what they are taught .
I see it as a baby step towards removal of state of origin and having state of residence .

Your last line is a lie.

I was born in a South West town and it is written in my birth certificate but I will never be accepted there no matter how fluent I am in Yoruba. That's Nigeria.

Also, Yoruba language didn't need to be compulsory before I became fluent in it.

The problem with Nigeria is the reliance on orders and compulsions for their policies. An Igbo family in Bariga will find that their children can speak Yoruba and Pidgin without needing any formal instruction.

Do you "perfectly" speak your mother tongue?

Scandinavian people are taught in school, their whole lives, with their mother tongue from early life, they are far better than you in speaking English and have a better future than you have. You can't compete with them.

How many languages are in Scandinavia?

You guys talk rubbish without considering the peculiarities of your country. Edo state alone has close to 20 languages. If you were typing your missives in your mother tongue, would I be able to have a discussion with you?

Stupid policy.

What is the dominant mother tongue in the community?

Akoko Edo LGA in Edo state, just one local government, has 7 languages. Do the same for communities all over Nigeria and you are running into over 150 languages and dialects.

Then several years later, these pupils will not be able to understand a global language like English, leading to poor competitiveness in the global marketplace.

The Chinese are paying huge sums to learn English and here is Nigeria wanting to destroy a good advantage by making a nonsense policy that is not backed by any research.

People can learn their mother tongue at home. Get them started with global languages the moment they start formal education. In addition, make French compulsory as well given that we are enveloped by French speaking countries.

All this faux patriotism will not help anyone. Well, what kind of educational policies do you expect with an Adamu Adamu as Minister?
