Now here is a bit of background on this issue. My visited us in Nov 2016 and left feb 2017. Now I am with child and due to give birth soon. TBH I really want her to come and stay for about 5months and help me with the new child. Please I humbly ask that you advice me based on the questions below…

The thing is now-
(1) what to say in my cover letter as reason why she overstayed the first time (yes it was a family visit visa)
(2) if I state that I want her to stay for five months, do you think they’d think its ludicrous and not grant her? If yes, do I state that yes I want her to come and help me with the new baby?

(3) I stated that she was unemployed and has a husband in her first visa and didn’t provide any bank statements from her, rather I supplied my husbands and our land registry docs and passport docs.
(4) What do they look for in a bank statement? The fact that one has a huge lump sum of money or ability to prove that money comes in and out regardless of what is in there at a given time?

1. Was there any particular reasons for her over stay? If yes state the reasons and be honest about it. If there was no reason simply apologize.

2. State the correct numbers of days for the visit and support it with documents. In this case, your anti natal visits, hospital bills, expected date of delivery, emotional needs etc to justify her long stay.

3. Enclose the same documents you submitted for her previous visa, and update yours.

4. If you did not submit her bank statement in her previous application and she got the visa, then you do not need to submit any.

Like I said, her application will be assessed based on justifiable reasons for her last over stay.

Please i'd appreciate if anybody would help me further with a uk renewal visit visa i'm currently completing for my mom. she visited in the past on a 6month visa. i stated that she'd stay for two weeks but she ended up staying for 4months -do I need to address this in this next application? if yes,how please.

secondly,considering the first question above, will it be ideal for me to increase her stay time this time around or just stick to the initial two weeks?

Your mum staying for 4 months instead of 2 weeks applied for will certainly raise issues. You will need to address this in a cover letter with verifiable evidences why she needed to stay that long. Sure you can apply for 2 years visa, but I wont risk it as your mum previous entery clearnace has a eed flag that must be remove

Moneysent to me from my brothers are for my financial up keeping and it shows only in my saving account while i transfer the montly income from my business account to my saving account.in the first application I used my saving account for business and in the second application I submitted business account,in the second application I gave details of how I run my company and details of how my business is moving while am in school and am not moving money from company account to another just moving the montly income to my personal account for self use. You have just confirmed the suspicion of UKVI that you do not have a strong financial and econmic ties to Nigeria. You cannot claimed to run a company and still depends on your brothers for financial upkeep. Although this is not a crime, but it raise some flags. May be you should focus your next application on getting full travel and financial sponsorship from you brothers. This will make sense as you’re still basically under their care. You can still submit your 3 accounts. However, do not put emphasize on your company as it is just side business and not your main source of income, focus more on your studentship with academic documents and justify why your brothers need to send you money on a monthly basis.

You can go ahead to check at TLS. Many have gone to TLS and find their passport waiting for collection after waiting endlessly for TLS collection email.

Was it 6 months, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years? Yes you rebook hotel reservation since you are not paying immediately as UKVI may need to verify your hotel booking.

Can my brothers call for judicial review? And pls why is it that I don't have right to appeal when is family visit?my goods are cash in hand but I issued them receipts and I also pay to the bank at the end of the day. Both brothers in the UK have been crediting my personal account over 5yrs ago and my company account shows money transfer to my saving account montly so what other income are they talking about?

I am sorry if my response may be disappointing. From the refusal letters and your explanation, UKVI see you as potential over stayer. In your first application, your home tie was your company which is more or less a petty trading outfit. With no strong ties, hence the refusal. In the second application you added studentship and bank statements showing inflows of a lot of funds from your brothers in the UK. This suggest that you do not have any strong financial and economic home ties, that will compel you to return home. There is no administrative or judicial review for visit family visa anymore. You can only reapply. My suggestion is that in your next application, you need to provide detail information on how you run your company. What will happen to the company in your absence while visiting the UK? Are your brothers sending you money to fund the company or for your financial upkeep? Why do you always move funds from your company account to another? Are you paying yourself a salary? There so many inconsistencies in your financial which you must sort out before your next application and not just adding a couple of receipts.

Hello @justwise, please i need your candid advice as this is my first time to post on this page. I was refused uk visa today and the reason was that, the CEO and the company that sent me the invite to uk could not be reached. Now this was supposed to be an official visit sponsored by my company where i work and the trip was for just 3day. Now my question is, what do i do, we have a project coming up with this firm and other companies in different countries that have people coming for this meeting has been granted visa, why should mine be different. My boss has asked the CEO of the firm in uk to write to the home office of the uk immigration but i don't know if this will help cos no option of appeal was granted or do i reapply? This is actually my 1st application to any European country. Thanks

Sorry about the refusal. Why not post the refusal letter here! This is the only way you can get valuable advise.

Unfortunately your mum work visa does not equate to permanent residency. Either of your parent must have a permanent residency status or a British Citizenship at the time of your birth for you to have right of abode in the UK. You only route to immigrate is vis student visa or work visa as i had earlier suggested.

Yes you can submit booking.com receipt as proof of accommodation. You do not need airline booking as its optional.

If you were born before 1983. You are a british citizen by birth irrespective of the nationalities of your parents. Since you birth was in 1987, you do not have right of abode in the UK, and cannot relocate to the UK. However, you can still immigrate using student visa route, or work permit route. By the way did you stay up to seven years before returning to Nigeria?

There is no need to worry. The visa is still valid until the date of its expiration. Change of circumstances can only be effected on a new UK visa application with proofs.

Applied first time for a 6 months visit visa

What i learnt from all three of them :
apply if ure confident ur ties are strong ,
expalin your situation as it is no lies and keep it straightfoward ,
do not go overboard with documents submitted,you are opening yourself up to more scrutiny

Im a car dealer and i applied with just N6,000 balance ,my wife was fully sponsoring the trip

Docs i submitted : CAC Certificate,bank statement (200 pages +,lots of inflow and outflow)
Receipts from car sales to explain huge lodgements, marriage certificate, FIRS tax clearance
my wifes salary account statement and her personal savings statement,Cover letter from company
explaining my role in the company and current situation, Cover letter from Brother inlaw who was
inviting us and his Resident permit )

Application completed 3rd November
Biometrics done 8th November
Received at UKVI 9th November
Decision Made 1st December
Passport picked up 5th December

Visa Granted.

Which of these eu countries can one readily get a job as a lecturer? Or where english speakers are common apart from Ireland and Malta? My spouse is British, but I have no intention of settling in the UK due to Brexit. I pefer an eu country where you can get citizenship within 6 years after 5 year resident permit as spouse of eu citizen.

Nice thread. Looking forward to move to europe next year as spouse of eu citizen. Learnt that Germany, Finland is great. For now I am considering Switzerland or Sweden.

If you are footing the whole bill, then it will be the same amount. If you will be supoorted by anyone else, then the amount will not be the same. For example let assume you are planning to spend £1000 and you also have someone supporting the trip say contributing £200. Then the total cost of the trip is cost to you personally which is £1000 plus £200 equal to £12000.

My story,

I came here for counsel when I needed to apply for my two year visa and I think it's appropriate to give feedback.

Biometrics was done on the 3rd of November and received the mail to pick up on Friday the 17th of November. I did the normal route.

Shortly after I got the mail to pick up, I checked this page and saw a comment that visas are never issued to passport with less than six months validity. My heart sank because I never heard of that law and my passport is expiring on February, 2018.

The weekend was full of so much thoughts and worries. To think I had to wait the whole weekend was in itself torture.

I picked up today and I was issued the visa. I thank God for favour because several other people offline confirmed the passport rule.

Congratulations!! The 6 months passport rule is TRUE. Yours is an exception maybe because you applied for 2 years visit visa. If it was a 6 months visa application maybe the outcome would have been different.

This is probably because you have submitted the form. Sure you can start another one!

If you have not yet paid. You can delete the application and start over. If you have made payment, point out the mistake with its correction in a cover note and submit along with other documents during biometric. That particular question is directed to you and not the EEA national. At the beginning of the application form there are specific questions that ask about where you will stay in the UK and contact details of your Spouse

Not having a job could be an issue. Never underestimate the UKVI people. Although your application will be considered under EU laws, the ECO may likely go outside EU laws to apply UK immigration law and lack of financial home tie. Anyway just be honest and be hopeful. So filled as folllows
1. Nill
2. Nill
3. Entered the amount that your husband will provide for the entire trip. This should include tickets for two/shoping allowance etc
4. Enter the cost of your own ticket
5. Nill since you will be staying with him
6. Enter nil. your husband is expected to take care of your living expenses
7. Enter amount as in #2

Ensure that he sent the entire money to you and is reflected in your bank account. Most important include a detail cover letter to explain your financial circumstances to ECO.

No. An extra day would not count as a potential overstay.

You are applying with a Nigerian passport. Your permit does not count, it only support your legal residence in another country and a proof to apply from that country.

Hi guys update on my visa (family visa) we were to go for my sisters wedding on the 26th of August.

Did biometrics 21st of July
escalation August 15th and on and on for where no answer.
Got mail that decision was made 23rd of October, got mail for pick up later same day
I was scared to go pick up, so waited 3 days until my heart is strong enough
i went and i got my visa 2years! it was issued 19th of oct.

my mum was also given 2years, but my bro was denied.

i noticed my visa issuer is UKVI,
so i'm thinking those of us that were delayed were being processed in UK? not sure sha just a guess.

omo when i got there i saw that the passports being returned were in a black nylon pack, only i and a guy was in a DHL bag. Afraid catch me die, i was thinking ah this people don refuse me , mumu me was looking for refusal letter instead of looking for visa in passport.

You applied for entry clearance to the United Kingdom under Tier 5 of the Points Based System. Your application failed to meet the qualifying criteria and was refused on 15/09/17. Your request for Administrative Review was received by this office on 25/09/17.


I have reviewed your application and I am satisfied that the decision to refuse you entry clearance was correct. However, I enclose a new Refusal notice with amended reasons for refusal. Your original refusal has been revoked because the reasons cited were incorrect.

Whilst I am satisfied that the master CoS did include some information about your sponsor’s mission statement and how your role would advance it and that the CoS did state that your role was not permanent but linked to temporary grants, however, I am not satisfied that the role ascribed to you is “field work” under the meaning in Appendix A part 111(c) of the Rules

I have no idea what type of field work job you got CoS for. The ECO feels that you're not qualified for the visa as your CoS does not correspond to a field work as would be describe in Appendix A part 111(c). Since they have withdrawn the previous refusal letter and issued you with another one, the application process has ended unless you are qualified for another admin review which i doubt.

I registered my firm April 2016 and i have been in Nigeria since i registered the firm till April 2017 and i traveled to Kenya same April 2017, more so i will be going back to Nigeria this December,
I plan to apply for UK visa March next year; I traveled to Kenya on a visit visa.
I don't really know what to write on the form about the person running my business in my Absence,

No one can answers you questions. Your motive appears to me that you want to use a visit visa to immigrate to the UK! From you travel histories and the declaration you have made, it will appear that your company is just a front. However, if you have £200000 to invest in the UK, you can easily get an entrepreneurship visa for 5 years and afterward settle in the UK if successful!
