@igbo boy: Hehe. When have you ever seen a Yoruba chick complain about an Igbo woman? Stop making up stories. Where in Nigeria does this happen? Why do you enjoy lying to yourself?

Moreover, if you want to use that analogy, that that makes you the (limp-wristed) Chinese dude who cannot hold onto his woman and complains bitterly about other dudes taking what should be his  smiley

And which "radiating" Igbo girls? As if 100% of them are. As if we cannot search for names on facebook and see plenty of wowo. Type in "Umeh" there and count wowo vs fine, let me know what you come up with.

But as someone else said about you, you doing what you did is the equivalent of an inanimate object (somebody's toothpaste) insulting a human being.

You simply are not on his level to be talking like that.

Anywaya,  No Yoruba issue at all. Besides lagos is a no mans land, meaning, it belongs to everybody. cool
Hehe. Feel free to test that hypothesis. Go to Lagos and shout it in the streets. See what fate befalls you. Next time I go there, we can arrange this experiment, if you like.

Do people not know what the term indigene means? Dede1 clearly does not, for example. Being born in a place is not enough to be considered an indigene of that same place (temporarily ignoring the fact that Aganga wasn't born in Lagos.)

Hard for me to imagine you talking that way to your better.

Anyway, the indigenous people of Lagos are Yoruba. So it is indeed a Yoruba issue. If you don't like that fact, go hug a transformer (autobot or decepticon, your choice)

Regarding Yoruba vs Igbo women. . . personally I think people should do whatever makes them happy. I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to ethnicity in women. . . AA, white, Asian, Yoruba, Igbo, whatever, all the same to me. I'm equal opportunity, let's put it that way.

For those who claim that Yoruba chicks are "dirty" or something. . . well, as the saying goes, water finds its level. If you can only get a dirty Yoruba chick, then it says more about you than anyone else.

Furthermore, I think I've already posted AIDS rates across Nigeria already, have I not? We already know which part of the country is the most filthy, at least if certain diseases are any indication.

As I said, water finds its level.

@PAGAN  9JA: I'm not sure if this is meant to agree with or disagree with my statement. Point is, by latest 1400AD or so, there was a concept of German ethnicity. Anyway, certainly today the concept exists.
omg r u seriously that dim-witted. therm ""German ethnic group"" arose around the 19th centure, hardly a few 100 yrs bak. but if you go into DNA and blood ethnicity, the Germans are a mixed people comprised of different Germanic tribes (tribes living in d german area) lyk d Franks, Saxons, Visigoths, etc,

today, you wont find people in Germany with a tribe/ethnicity, cuz they r all mixed.
This concept of German ethnicity predates the 19th century. I guess we could trace it to at least the time of the Holy Roman Empire. Certainly by the time of Catherine the Great (the ethnic German empress of Russia), they were considered an ethnic group rather than a collection or mixture of tribes.

Foreign Affairs › Chinese Officials Looted $120bn Public Funds In 13 Years - Report by ektbear(op): 9:06pm On Jun 17, 2011
China‘s Central Bank has issued a report saying thousands of corrupt Chinese officials stole more than $123 billion (N192,864,003,602,519.69) and fled overseas between 1995 and 2008.

The report also said the United States was a top destination for the looted funds, the Associated Press reports.

The report, released this week by the People‘s Bank of China, says between 16,000 to 18,000 government officials and executives at state-owned enterprises smuggled about 800 billion yuan ($123 billion) out of China within the period.

The study says the officials smuggled money into the US, Australia, Canada and Holland, using offshore bank accounts or investments such as real estate or collectibles. Officials masked the thefts as business transactions by setting up private companies to receive the money transfers, according to the report.

China has launched numerous efforts in recent years to curb graft, which is often a focal point of protests by ordinary Chinese and is seen as a major threat to political stability. But corruption among Communist Party officials is still common.

The report warned that the corruption was serious enough to threaten China‘s economic and political stability.

It said that aside from punishing guilty officials, China should improve monitoring of asset transfers and revise methods of payment overseas.

Chinese prosecutors have made some high-profile takedowns in hopes of deterring graft among the rank and file. In China‘s largest recent corruption scandal, the powerful party boss of Shanghai, Chen Liangyu, was sentenced in 2008 to 18 years in prison.

Obviously there is a clear difference between assembly and manufacture. If we assembled cars, it's pretty much out-of-the-box kit, everything has been prefabricated, the shape of the car mouled, electronic/electric pre-wiring and all the company is doing is just adding "minor"included refit to it. Assembly of a car take a few hrs as opposed to manufacture of one that takes 3x more. My point is the components of a finished products does not determine if it was manufactured or assembled, but what determines between the both is the process involved.
Agree with most of this, I think.

This company buys its sheet metal or steel or whatever is it they use, fabricate/mould it to the shape you see it, engines arrive (though or not if its imported), the engines involve a lot of wiring, then the moulded shape of the car goes through it's wiring, electronic/electric mechanical sensors/components such as brakes, pedals et.al   are installed though some of them are locally manufactured. I mean if you go through all this process, you are not assembling a car but manufactured one from the scratch. Obviously we cannot manufacture some of the components, remember economies of scale? However, I do agree that the start of the scratch begins at home and that's with the fabrication of the sheet metal.
Fair enough. Perhaps I'm nitpicking. Perhaps it is too far off to call it manufacturing. Though the primary difference between what they are doing and just CKD assembly is moulding the body locally. . . so not clear to me that this is truly manufacturing.

Anyway, as I've said repeatedly, it is still a great step and a good thing to do. I'm not trying to hate on anyone or denigrate anyone's work.

Kobojunkie:
In most all cases in the US( from WM point of view) the government contracts it out to the company. This is why people do not get Waste Management utility bills DIRECTLY from the waste companies in most of the US. I have personally never read of a case where the company refuses to pick up your trash because you did not pay waste management bill.
I've heard of municipalities where this is the case (you negotiate directly with a trash company). I've never lived in one though. I'm sure you could find specific examples pretty easily.

Kobojunkie:
Waste Management is a GOVERNMENT contractor in many of the cities around the US that handles waste management in states where it is CONTRACTED by the government to do so.
Right. So there are two different cases, I guess:
1) If the government chooses to provide the service, does it do it itself or hire a contractor?
2) What if the government doesn't provide the service, and people have to handle it themselves?

Anyway, Waste Management does #1. I'm not sure if it does #2. . . but that wasn't why I brought them up. Brought them up as a good example of #1.
why should private firms do it, when the state government can do

that is how it is done all over the world
Not quite, actually. In lots of places it is handled by private contractors. . . for example, there is this famous company called Waste Management (dunno if you heard of them) that handles a lot of trash collection in the US.

But I guess the point you raise is more subtle. . . whether people should negotiate (and pay) to have their trash handled individually or whether the government should just provide it for everyone (and pay for it by raising taxes.) In other words, is it a private or public good. I guess you are right, it should be available for free to everyone.

Have you asked yourself why the drainages are used as garbage dump? Maybe if the govt provided a good refuse pick up system, people would be less inclined to put their trash in the drainages.  undecided
Very silly response.

Is it the government's job to provide refuse pickup? Surely there is a private firm you can pay to pick up your trash even if the government doesn't provide it.

Granted, government should do it. But even if it doesn't, nobody has to tell even an animal not to sh1t where it sleeps and eats.

Hrm. Is Lagos really below sea level? Looking around a bit online, it looks like most of it is not. I think it is a drainage issue primarily.

How much longer does the rainy season last for?
Politics › Re: Lagos Flood. Fashola &tinubu Failed In Fixing Drainage Prbls In Lagos In 12years by ektbear: 5:51pm On Jun 17, 2011
I don't think simple rain alone should cause that unless the drainage is almost nonexistent. Yeah, reminds me of PHC when I visited. And that is not something you want your city to look like (with no offense intended to PHC).
