I read some post back Rhymstein talkin about how many multies DaGrin get sef. . . .ol boy he get plenty o, no be lie.

However on the matter of flow, I still say Da Grin was undoubtedly one of the best.
Rhymestein is only trying his best to win the Mugu of the Year Award. grin grin
But I think he'll have to up his game to beat Kaydee . . . it's going to be a close-call this year.

After three consecutive years of Ofoka winning the award, he gets smart and now these two are fighting tooth and nail for the role of Odelomo Latile (I) of Nairaland.

I expect Nigerian Government to start regarding Brits/Americans in Nigeria as "Immigrants".
Maybe they will get the message by then. Lets start with the Lars Lagerback. Someone should call him a flaming immigrant. grin cheesy
Over 200,000 British citizens moved out of the UK in one year . . . they are all expatriates grin grin

The racist Brits have always had names for sugar-coating those kinds of things . . .

Robbing and murdering people in Benin City = The Punitive Expedition.
Clearing of Asia and killing people on the way = The Campaign in Asia.

It's just sheer hypocrisy for the Brits to be termed as expatriates in foreign lands and foreigners are called immigrants here.
U cannot tell me every foreigner in this country ALL have the intention to live on State benefits and not return back to their roots.

That is what i am aiming at.
Expatriates are not necessarily professionals. If a Soho junkie decides to go and stay in Nigeria, he will be described as an expatriate(by the Brits).
I heard a woman say the most ignorant thing to me on a train.

I think where we all disagree is the definition of 'founders'.
Music/Radio › Re: Favourite Rap Lines By Nigerian Rappers by eldee(op): 1:49pm On May 07, 2010
@DBR

It's obvious that we'll never agree on this thread, it's becoming a trend cheesy cheesy
But to start mixing the facts I used to support my points is not sumn I'll condone.

I stated three points that I'll still hold on to . . .

1. Yoruba's word-bank is limited . . . you're yet to prove otherwise.

2. His influences are American . . .  I used Chimamanda as an example, she only started learning how to use Nigerian themes and imagery after Chinua Achebe. I don't care if you're married to her, she said she thought it was 'impossible' before she started studying Nigerian writers.

3. Dagrin is one of the founding fathers of Yoruba hiphop . . . he doesn't have to be the first or the second or third . . . but when hiphop culture goes obsolete and you are told to talk about the people that started it, Dagrin is one of them.

He is a founding father of the sub-genre along with Lord of Ajasa, AY and others.
People did hiphop years before Young MC and Run DMC . . . but saying anything about the founders of hiphop without mentioning those names is treason in 127 countries. . . including Somalia. grin grin

You probably won't agree with any of those three points I raised, but it's aiite . . . we already agreed on some things.

@Eldee, with time I am of the belief that all those weirdo parties will be voted out. Here is a comment someone posted in The Times.

"I must congratulate the honourable people of Barking who proved that they are not ignorant and are just and fair human beings who did not follow ignorance and hate politics of Nick Griffin and his alike. BNP has been shown the door by predominant whites of the area. In the end good triumphs over bad always."

A Jan.
The problem is not the BNP, the main problem is the fact that the fascist ideas are still in the minds of these people, waiting to come out with any minor problem.
Just look at the way the skinheads of the 70s went about killing Asians just because they lost their jobs, and then a recession causes unemployment  rates to go high in 2008 and everyone says it's the immigrants.

The mindset needs to change so it doesn't keep coming up everytime something goes wrong. . . that's my problem.

First let me say South Africans are not silly and illiterate. And I think Mpele's mistake was to try to reason with you, since I think you've got other issues that you have to deal with.

Regarding the world cup,it is in South Africa, hosted by South Africans and as host we have a right to demand certain things. To be honest you should be happy as an African that we don't let Europeans control us or send us around like headless chickens because we're Africans.
The sad things it is only in Africa where a visitor takes control of the host house and run things, and in South Africa our pride it too big to let anyone to do that in our backyard.
Maybe it was allowed inthe other world cups but in South Afruca we won't let it happens,if we do it will be because we want it to happen and it's not forced on us.
This world cup is sponsored by me,a taxpayer and a proud South African who want his country to move forward,
Erm . . . but they do control you. You guys live in the slums while they live in the best neighbourhoods.
Majority of the black neighbourhoods are places with extreme crime rate. . . or am I missing something here??

Hehheee, Eldee, no let that brain dead bozo set up o, he's sure lookin for pple to star in his life movie: Dead brain talkin'.
It's not bad to have an opinion, I don't know who's the best, but Dagrin has a 33% chance of taking the spot in my opinion.

DBR:
See, i dont believe it's harder. Dagrin wasnt force or sentenced to rap in yoruba.
He chose it cos tht wat he's more flexible wit. if u dont get that point there's nothin i can do.
if im more dexterous in french, i can manipulate it, turn and twist it to achieve ma goals, i wldnt think i culdda done beta wit another language. whether that language has the largest body of words or not. And now u agree he uses english, but of course u only agree now to further your own point hence u use borrow~~u amuse me, truly.
Ok, so if he uses/borrows english too, that means he has 2languages to toggle, so how constricted is he then.
I beg rest dis matter, u dont have a point.
Yeah, he's more comfortable with Yoruba, but the problem here is that the word-bank is probably not up to a quarter of that of English.
Just because I decide to use sunflower oil to make beans and I get really good at it doesn't mean I not still at a disadvantage compared to you that uses palm oil.

Yeah, he does borrow from English . . . it's called improvising man, not toggling. There's still a limit to how far you can go trying to rhyme 'gbadura' with 'Yar'adua'

DBR:
Guess u dont fully understand what influence is.
So french writers who are influenced by greek writer find it more difficult to write in french?
Same goes for german artist influenced by the americans?
Tupac influeced political activist, and they dont even rap.
Dagrin cld be influenced by 2pac, but influece influences, it doesnt restict.
Some pple are even influenced to do greater than their influence irrespective of creed, language or nationality.
Now you're seriously just denying the truth to support your stance.
Chimamanda Adichie always talks about how she grew up reading Enid Blyton books. . . when she started writing, she felt more comfortable using imagery from 60s Britain.
She specifically noted that all her old writing had words like 'tulips', 'goblins' and 'elves'. She was influenced by Brit writers, even her style was Brit.

She then noted that she only changed when she started reading Chinua Achebe books . . .she even said she never believed it was possible before she read Things Fall Apart.
This is coming from someone that's written three award-winning books.

DBR:
This is not a subject of discourse. I neva disputed that, and u have what i said that u quoted to show that.
I do not see the relevance of this.
I luv dagrin, he put mother tongue rap a hot look.
I heard him and im like yeaa, now we talkin, this is wat mother tongue is all'bout.
like i said and always say, he's a beast on the mic.
He flows wella, but flow king? nahh~~Neva!

oNe
What's the relevance?? He started it . . . it would have been easier for him if there were Yoruba people to emulate.
The same way Grand Master Flash would have been lyrically better if Nas came before him. . . . see where I'm coming from??
It was harder for GMF to be lyrical because he was one of the founding fathers . . . same with Dagrin.

As I said, if you asked me this question three months ago, I'd have said M.I without even flinching.
But right now, I can't tell . . . and I'm not going to make any statement that's not based on fact or at least an opinion I can stand by.

Getting immigrant to the Sunderlands and Hulls will help to halt congestion in the big cities and in a small way help to educate the other places on the importance of immigrant workers.
Besides, then it will help to even create jobs outside London and stop the fear of a population explosion in London.
