I've heard this song as well. I didn't like Damien Marley's verse.

Have you listened to Eminem's new song "Not Afraid"? Its cool. It somehow reminded me of K'Naan's "Wavin' Flag".
Come on Damian Marley always comes correct . . . I didn't even understand anything he said cheesy cheesy

It funny how anytime Lil Wayne comes against a top rapper, he decides to sing, it's almost becoming a trend.

How does Eminem remind you of Waving Flag?? I liked the song though, Em is back!!!

Bro, easy o! SA musicians are not daft. Don't say that about the nation that produced Miriam Makeba, Hugu Masakela, Phineas Mkhize, LadySmith Black Mambazo, Lucky Dube, the Soweto String Quartet, etc.
Music-wise, IMHO they have the deepest and coolest tradition in contemporary music. Mind you I'm referring to contemporary jazz, classical, and world music, not Naeto C and MI.
Of course I'm not talking about that era, I've got a problem with the people that don't understand the concept of the World Cup.
It's not a South African thing, it's an African thing, it's a World thing.

It's extremely ignorant for them to start spewing B.S when the France 98 song was done by Ricky Martin.

M.I . . .

Thank you for expressing the words we couldn't put into lines ourselves.
Thank you for reminding us about the good times.
Thank you for telling Dagrin how much even people that only met him after his death in If I Die miss him already.
Thank you for attempting to make a song that will befit his legacy.

And most importantly, Thank you for calling Dagrin a 'were' . . . he's probably calling you 'oloshi right now.

The level of your ignorance is bewildering . . . if you can actually come online to say you can't see Weezy and Lil wayne in Drake.
I don't expect you to have listened to his old stuff, I'm even happier to see you make a fool of yourself in public.

Now about M.I, if you say you see Kanye West, Lil Wayne and T.I in one person, doesn't it simply mean he had forged three styles to create his own??
WOW!!! You really are a charity case.

If you're listening to 2010, Omo Naija or Nobody and you can't tell M.I from T.I, then I'll need to recommend a new psychiatrist to you.
Seriously, are you this daft or is it just on Thursdays that your drugs wear off??

I wish this song didn't leak before the album release date . . . so effing sick, it coulda singlehandedly sold the album.

At the end of the day, you're more of a pirate than I am.
You were asking for songs that the artiste hasn't even released yet.
In legal terms, you are intentionally circumventing the legal rights of 9ice to his intellectual property without his prior knowledge. grin grin

I'm asking for one album from a friend, the same way your family and friends don't pay to borrow your DVM album.
What's the use of buying an album when, one . . . I don't trust the quality and two . . . someone is offering it for free.

Music/Radio › Re: Favourite Rap Lines By Nigerian Rappers by eldee(op): 8:26pm On May 06, 2010
@DBR

You do know I'm yet to say Dagrin had the best flow in Naija . . . Sauron just forced words into my mouth.
I've heard guys like Iceberg Slim, M.I and a few others that will match Dagrin's delivery and even diversify it.

My issue is the fact that you don't want to accept that it's harder to rap in a language different from English.
You really want to say that you don't believe that English has a wealthier word bank than Yoruba??
Come on . . . even Dagrin had to borrow words from English sometimes.
That's my first point.

The second point I raised is this, it is harder to rap in Yoruba when your key influences are American.
That's why I raised the fact that everyone uses an American accent, why?? Because they are influenced by these guys.

Then I highlighted another fact that in your own words . . .'people that start genres are given a special recognition'.
Dagrin, is one of the founders of Yoruba hiphop, yeah there were other people before him, but he is undoubtedly the first name that pops into the mind of the average Nigerian listener when you ask about Yoruba hiphop.
It's harder to start a genre . . . FACT.

If you can't accept those points, then I apologise for actually basing my arguments on facts rather than your subjective opinions.

What makes U think that Nigerians are intelligent. If U are intelligent as Nigerians, then sadly your intelligence has brought U nothing but poverty. U can't even clean your streets. U are busy butchering the hell oot of each other in the name of religion, if that's intelligence then I rest my case.

U're nothing but a bunch of resentful people who're just bitter that South Africa is now the giant of Africa hosting world cups, while your country with more than 100 million useless people is now even seen as less important than GHANA
Hehehe . . . poverty?? It's getting this personal??
Aren;t you guys butchering each other in the name of race?? Isn't it your same country that Dutch people are threatening to blow up malls??

Let the intelligence bring poverty . . . at the end of the day, we're not the ones that don't know the difference between the World Cup and the COSAFA Cup.
Tell your musicians to go to school, Shakira's got the whole world rocking and there's nothing they can do about that.

Meanwhile I'm coming to SA to watch Messi this summer, abeg I don't want to die ooh, I'm so sorry for dissing South Africans.

It shows how silly and ill informed U are! It is the musicians who complained! Why are U now insulting us. Pls refrain from insulting us. What does Swaziland have to do with us. Why do Nigerians like to insult us whenever they get a chance. It is not our fault that Nigeria is a third world slum. I'm starting to believe that U're resentful because U do not have the capabilities to host such events.

Eldee, i wonder how u guys see a truth and u just wanna create tension in it cos it's a lil' bit at variance wit watya think.
U and saurone are the guyz paintin a picture that dagrin cos of his language of rap is  constrained. Im sayin he is not.!

Heck, eedris rhymes in hausa and eno, Nigga raw rhymes in igbo, french, spanish german rappers all do it, so wats the fuss?

Yoruba is the language he's more competent with. plus he still uses english! so wat constrain u talkin bout?
I aint takin anythin from him, cos u guyz are tryna make pple think im anti Grin now.
The fact that the language he uses is even more descriptive is a plus, cos that's wat rapper try to do, paint pictures.
So when a language exist that naturally lends itself to that, is that a restriction or a blessin'??~~ goodness me!!!
Rhymin or multies aint more difficult in yoruba' thats wat im sayin, did he ever say he felt disadvantaged??

oNe
Of course Yoruba is constrained for hiphop. . . that's a FACT.
Why?? because the word bank is minute compared to English . . . FACT!!!

Hiphop favours people that summarise ideas/stories into short lines while constrained by beats you can't skip.
Guys that rap in Nigerian languages are at a disadvantage in hiphop. . . but Dagrin doing it better than most other rappers is exceptional.
And German, French and Spanish are obviously lightyears more developed than Yoruba or Hausa.

Also, you seem to forget that these artistes are starting something new in Nigeria. . . it's harder for you to rap in Yoruba or Igbo if your influences were Jadakiss, Tupac and what not.
Isn't that the main reason everyone in Nigeria raps with an American accent??

Stop sayin he has less words to choose from. obviously u do not kno how rich yoruba languaqe is.
I do not recall Ajayi crowther complainin he didnt have enuff yoruba words to translate the entire 788,258 words of the bible!
So are you actually coming here to imply that Yoruba has up to half the word strength of English??
You do know most of the words in the Yoruba Bible were descriptive right??

Words like, Asoromagbesi (radio) and Ero abanisoro (telephone) . . . Yoruba is extremely confined, especially for a modern day application as in the case of rapping.
Even everyday items in Yoruba are described, and you're comparing that to Anglais where the 1,000,000 word mark had already being crushed last year??
The fact that Dagrin could go at par with many other rappers even with this should at least get him some credit . . . come on.

Sauron is a chameleon . . . .Today Rugheadman is the best, tommorow is Dagrin, Next tommorow is M.I . . I tire for u.

Politics › UK Election Day: Who Gets the NID Vote? by eldee(op): 10:33am On May 06, 2010
Polling stations open across England

Voting has begun in England in what is tipped to be the most closely-fought general election in recent years.

Polling stations around the country opened their doors at 0700 BST and will close at 2200 BST when most electoral teams will begin counting the

votes.

With polls indicating Britain could see a hung parliament, party leaders made a final push to win over undecided voters on Wednesday.

Votes are also being cast in local elections at more than 150 councils.

In total, 4,200 seats will be contested in about 3,000 wards across 166 English local authorities.

Electoral teams across the country are gearing up for a long night of counting.

In the constituency of Sunderland South, officers are hoping to become the first to declare results for a fifth year running.

Liverpool Riverside had the lowest voter turnout in 2001 and 2005

In 2005, it announced its MP just 44 minutes after the polls had closed.

In one North Yorkshire constituency voters face a three-week wait to cast their vote for their MP.

The election in Thirsk and Malton was halted in April when the UK Independence Party announced its candidate, John Boakes, had died.

Polling day for that constituency will now be 27 May.

One council with a huge job on its hands is Rushmoor Borough Council in Hampshire, which is co-ordinating voting for troops in Afghanistan.
