San Diego State is quite competitive for funding in engineering. But you could still apply.
Provided you have other backup safe schools to apply to. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
If 34k sounds cheap to you then make sure you have other schools that can easily accept you with your profile. Worst case is to fund first semester and get scholarship later.
Cost of living in California can be really high.

The schools have regulations which they stick to.
Also many schools are having problems because of applicants using them to obtain a visa then disappearing. (As the OP wants to do.)

You have zero options. Your school holds all the cards. Do one semester with them then transfer. Your school obviously has been burnt before by folks like you and wants to avoid getting blacklisted by the USCIS as simply an I-20 mill (aka use them to get into the US then transfer to somewhere less expensive). Where you not aware of the costs before you took the flight?

Tell your school about your new financial predicament. Let them know it was unexpected. Tell them that an institution is willing to offer you a scholarship. Except they have a scholarship offer for you . show them your account details if possible. The would reconsider bro.

yea bro. to be honest, i was just so lazy to search for school that will give out admission without toefl. my score was low, i had 73. i did not make it up to all the 4 schools i selected. so my friend in the state hooked us up.i know i didnt live up to the expectation with all the reservoir of information present here to go by.

Chairman your medical school challenge is not the problem. Your thinking pattern is the problem. Firstly I asked the same question on this thread like 5yrs back and I was told the hard truth.
If you really want to study medicine in US then you must first build a financial plan of surviving in Nigeria first. Complete your studies here in a related course even a HND from a small school would fly.

Understand how a HND can get you an MSc from reading this thread. Get a job in US after saving enough then you start aiming for your real dream.

Pray hard. Read hard. Plan Hard.

Yes, funding does a lot to offset tuition and expenses in case of stipend.
In case of financial capacity, first understand that every person's situation is different, I think the most accurate information about how much in average you will spend in a year, is the one specifically printed in your I-20. If you want it monthly, then divide by 12, and that can prevent constituting nuisance to the public or public charge ( immigration terms)

I-20 estimates are slightly high.
$700 / month seems very fair to me.
At least from southern States.
Well I pray dollar drops before June.
