This morning, Uber Nigeria announced NEW RATES for their service in Lagos. Fares have been slashed by 40%. Obviously this means reduced earnings for partners/drivers but how they react remains to be seen. See new rates here

Uber did same in Kenya but reversed when drivers protested.
Existing partners & drivers need to come together at this point and plan out a course of action.

If you know the meaning of FRSC you won't ask this question ...it's Federal Road Safety Commission and not State Road..Lastma is for state roads in Lagos ..
Please let's endeavour to use our brains. So FRSC (Federal Road Safety Commission) is for Federal Roads, LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Agency) is for State Roads. Who is for local government roads? Who?? ?? ??
By your analogy FRSC = Federal Road Safety Commission. So where did you see Road in LASTMAs name? It is a Traffic Management Agency.

Once again, maybe you are tired from work, but please use your brain.
Caveat: I will not read your reply so don't bother. I'm not insulting you o, my brother.

My driver just paid my first week earnings and I noticed he received a lot of cash payments during the week.. pls how does uber collect their 25% in situations where almost all the trips were paid for in cash?
Well done on your first week. Cash payments for me currently constitute 50-75% of trips and I see it rising. You'll need to add your debit card to your account.

thanksoluwa:
Please what can i do if uber hasn't credited my account with my weekly earning.
Any help?
Experiencing the same thing. I think they're having issues with transferring (or there's something else afoot angry ). Either way submit a complaint with your account.

No offence, but it was from this line I know you are a fool, and I feel bad for anyone who knows you because you are a brainless liability.

Don't ever call lalasticlala for this kind of thread again.

In fact your story is just stupid. You gave her your card and pin to pay for some items, then left to pick up some other items. So you would still have to collect your Atm card and join the line in order to pay for the new items. Then what was the point of giving her the card and pin. You'd still have to use it for your new items.

If this story is real, then you are the dumbest person on nairaland.
If it is not, then you are the dumbest person on nairaland.

Not yet ...although they have given the directive to let all the cars go, my driver is yet to collect mine he's been waiting there for a while now. I believe once the 60k fine is paid, tax clearance done, they'll release d car.

I hope there will some communication from Uber on this issue as it was quite an embarrassment. Uber knew about this license thing from the start, they should have put it as a requirement for joining the platform.

Fingers Crossed.
If possible get your car out of there today.
Any Uber partners here with the accreditation? Looking to go to their office to understand this thing.

Lagos VIO Begins Massive Impounding of Uber cars

Lagos State government through the Vehicle Inspection Office has begun impounding all Uber cars in the state. High level VIO staff say that Uber has no licence to operate in the state and they had warned Uber to comply with statewide regulations. The VIO has since started impounding vehicles by posing as legitimate riders and requesting trips, only for drivers to be met with a towing vehicle at the beginning or even during the trip. The VIO claims that hundreds of cars have been impounded in the 2 days of this operation and it aims to impound all Uber vehicles.

Uber has claimed that it will reimburse partners who are issued fines, however it remains to be seen if they will keep to this. In the meantime, Uber partners are being left with massive fines and deflated tires as they are left bearing the burden in the middle.

Sir, I am an intending partner/driver on uber. The whole process has been cumbersome but at this stage I need experienced advice. Please how do I go about the Tax Identification Number? Is it true they require only coperate/current accounts?
I uploaded a duly stamped and signed acknowledgement paper from FRSC as I have misplaced my temporary driver's license but it was rejected. I booked a meeting with uber on Tuesday to talk about this, what are my chances?
Do you think a 2008 Honda Civic, manual hear with less than 100k mileage will pass the car inspection test?
Your suggestions/opinion/advice will be highly appreciated as I have very limited source of information other than all I've read on Nairaland

Thanks
You'll get the corporate TIN from FIRS. I understand Uber released some document on this some time ago I'm not sure of the link to it so you'll have to look through ubernigeria.com to find it.

They require current accounts, either individual or corporate. Simply put not a savings account. Haven't tried with saving account anyway.

You'll probably need to just get the temporary licence. Haven't heard of the stamped paper. Have to hear what they say at their office.

Car mileage and manual gear doesn't matter. Go for the inspection first and they'll tell you what you need to fix up. I was nervous at my first inspection but since then.... mscheeew grin

Please I need help o.my driver just called me now that my car has been impounded by VIO.
They said Uber does not have operational license in Lagos state and they have issued a ticket of 60k.
I need advise urgently....
They requested for a ride and deflated his tires when he got there...he has logged a complaint to Uber via the app and can't say when we'll get a response.
Am at a loss on what to do!!
Wow! I'm also at a loss as well! I wonder what support Uber will possibly give in this instance. Where did this happen? Ie where was your driver and where did they request from? Focus on getting your car out of those useless VIO people's hands, I doubt if Uber will do anything for you. Remember they don't own any car or hire any driver - 'they are just an app!'
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by eledalo: 4:02pm On Nov 25, 2016
Caution when investing Uber, as they can change their policies every single day. I have 10 cars on the platform and my experience with Uber is very telling.
Confirm from the vehicle inspection centre near you if they will inspect that specific the car.
Emailing Uber about current vehicle requirements will likely give you wrong information, as they reply from Capetown Joburg, Amsterdam, Kuala Lumpur, etc, so those people do not have information that is true for Lagos. Many many people have had to sell cars at a big loss/give out cars to family members because of wrong info.
I'll continue to provide info to help guide early partners and drivers so they don't fall into Uber's numerous traps

BusinessUber Drivers Protest 'Scam' In Lagos (Picture by eledalo(op): 7:56pm On Nov 17, 2016
Uber Drivers in Lagos protested against in front of Uber’s ‘Greenlight Hub’ in Lekki on Thursday evening. They alleged that Uber had failed to keep its promise to match fares during last week’s 50% promo for riders, amongst other things.

This is coming on the heels of protests at it’s Ikoyi corporate office and a drivers strike in Abuja over unprofitable rates in the city.
