"Don't you think this issue of tinted glasses is absolute nonsense?! Most SUVs come with factory fitted tinted glasses. Now, the Nigeria Police require an owner to get a permit for this. This permit costs btw 15k & 25k. How does the permit prevent the use of a car for crime? The same criminals can still pay and get it. Or should I change my windows that are factory tinted as UV protective windows from hot sun rays? Or I should go and replace them after buying them from manufacturers because the police are not competent enough to tackle crime appropriately? I don't have to obtain a tint permit? Haba! For Nigerian citizens to be subjected to any sort of whims, directives and caprices of the IGP is ludicrous! The payment for tinted windows permit is another avenue for corruption by the police as the money will never reflect in the federation account. instinctg: I sometimes hear a whimming sound when trying to turn my steering. In such cases, I top d power steering oil with Abro ATF fluid and this consumes about a liter.

This exercise is being carried out approximately every month. My instincts tell me dat dis is on d high side and I can't view any leakage in d hoses.

Is this normal ?

Does it make the noise while cold and then the noise reduces while engine gets hot. I'm sure most mechanics will tell u to change the power steering pump. By the way what make is ut car?

Most whining sound is caused by a bad inlet o ring. It's located on the inlet joint where the power steering fluid enters into the pump. It's gonna cost u approximately 500 naira to fix, u can even do it urself. Just change the o ring (it's just a small round rubber). Below is the link to download the PDF on how to fix this. Do this or ask ur mechanics to do it for u and bye bye to the whining sound.

By the way, USA & Canada cars are tag American specs.

You cannot say because your car Daytime Running light works in a particular way, all cars with that feature work with the same way. My Peugeot 406 is from Sweden. It has the Daytime Running Light. As soon as the engine starts running, the side lights & headlights (dipped) will come on, whether in neutral or in gear (note that mine is manual trans). And my rear/tail lights also come on when the engine is running. You can ask any 406 owner you know that have the Daytime Running Light, am sure they will tell you the same.

Thanks for the correction about some DRL with rear lights on. Also when I said most cars with DRL are from Canada and USA, I said that because most Tokunbo cars in Nigeria are from North America. Also Ikenna, is there a way to turn off the lights at night.. like when everywhere is dark and u are on ur street and don't wanna attract anyone's attention.. How do u turn off the DRL.
