A-ZeD:
Oga lets, discuss issues
1)Do i need Maku to tell me if there is light in my house?
2)Do i need Maku to tell me if my street road is tarred?
3)Do i need Maku to tell me the security situation in my area?
4)Do i need Maku to tell me if the hospital in my area is good?
5)Do i need Maku to tell me the state of public schools and facilities in my Area?
6)Do i need Maku to tell me how much i buy fuel?

If your answers are No then please tell me w.t.f is the purpose of the GGT? I'd rather support a leader who backs out from a bad deal than one who supports it.
You got no point so am not gonna be surprised at this daft post. Commenting further means I will be honoring you with a reply. I have got something important doing but kindly follow the NGGTour, maybe it could cure your mind of hate

Demdem: Fool what issue? I dont discuss foolishness. If u insist u want my opinion on this same issue then go to my previous posts afterall this isn't the first thread on this issue on NL.
I see no hypocrisy here, instead what I see is ur inability to properly discern what transpired. From experience, shedding light for u is a waste of time.
Again I state that the tour is a wasteful and useless venture.
I insist there is hypocrisy. Infact at the highest level with Fashola. Oshiomohle's position may be partially understood though still not justifiable but fashola's stance is quite regrettable for obvious reasons. You can chose to huge a transformer if you can bear the fact that the propaganda of your benefactors are gradually coming to the fore.

You are the most daft reterdeem I have seen on nairaland. You ought to discuss issues rather than resort to insults and aggressiveness. Are you angry that the hypocrisy of your benefactors are being exposed? Nigerians will soon know who they are just as the Nigerian Union of Journalists have just discovered that they have been holding briefs for wolves in sheep clothings.

ACN governors are bunch of hypocrites. When Oshiomohle misfired, I suspected there was a gang up by the ACN against this tour. Reason being that the tour may also highlight the positive sides of the PDP led federal government. The truth be told ACN has enjoyed undue media propaganda, a situation a known friend who works for one of the print media confidently told me that it was a deliberate plot to checkmate the overbearing influence of the PDP and entrench competitiveness in the polity by helping ACN raise the bar. The ACN govt is getting this whole thing wrong because they also stand a chance to showcase their works except they got things they are hiding.
I was shocked at the revelations that the popular Ogbowo road and Akpakpava roads as well as other achievements in Edo state which Oshiomohle had since taken credit were executed by the federal government. This is the deceit of these people coupled with the imbalance in press reportage. I see why these ACN govs will do everything to frustrate this loud able projects which seek to dwell on development rather than the issue violence and political tussle between gladiators which our media have been awashed in recent times.

Ofcourse it is a scam.

Otherwise, why does anyone need an army of over 100 officials in order to check whether a road construction is progressing. And remember, these officials/thieves/bandits will expect to lodge in the best hotels in the various State capitals. Massive waste of resources if you ask me. I commend the Governor who said 'No! not on my watch.'

I hope other ACN Governors refuse to be co-opted into this PDP fraud.
You are not more Edo than i . This our comrade is being in the news for nothing, and am ashamed for him. He has been a pioneer of good governance and accountability but i think some of his actions since he became the landlord of Dennis Osadebay house suggest contrary. Adams is an opportunist by all standard, wanting to shine with every little opportunity. He is said to have performed and had enjoyed the good will of the media but he should summit himself for strutiny by the same media and civil societies who have helped him to be who he is today if he has nothing to hide.

Eko Ile: Who and who is in this 419 partnership? Obviously, the governor of EDO is not art of it. And must the governors spend their taxpayers money to feed and lodge federal clowns junketing all over the country for nothing or to showcase projects that doesn't belong to them? You only witness rubbish like this with GEJ and his co-clowns
You must be very dull to have spew this comment defiling any iota of logic. If the ACN govs betray as usual, no problem it won't be the first they will be dancing shamelessly but the initiative should continue. He NUJ president reaffirmed yesterday that this is what they ordinarily should be doing regularly to entrench good governance and accountability and was full of praise for the information minister for making it easier for them. The president has at last challenged government for an open and unbiased assessment and strutiny by all after several months of propaganda of non performance by your paymasters and fellow gluttons like you and am so ashamed that you are now developing cold feet. Hypocrisy must come to an end.

Illiterate look here...

News media don't charge for common news reporting.

Why should they negotiate any amount and is it by force to participate in this scam and foolery? If you feel like traveling around the country on a stupid and 419 errand, look elsewhere for your your own funding? Na by force?

The thing is, these useless Nigerian ministers are nothing but dullards and illiterates like their dullard and illiterate president, they don't know anything talk less their jobs descriptions and responsibilities.
Shut up your unrefined mouth. What do you even know other than come under the obscurity of soc media to vent nonsense just for a stipend ? If your apologists continue in this manner, they would be heading for self destruct and this is just the beginning of their exposition. I have never liked ACN, neither am I impressed with PDP but I would rather stick with the devil I know making continuous effort to improve as the day progress than be deceived by hypocrites. A party whose tact and slogan has been sabotage and propaganda, certainly not what we need.

Now I know that this ACN government is a charade and have been surviving on media propaganda and the poor perception of Nigerians on the PDP. Why on earth should this party utter such unintelligent and vague argument of federal govt assembled team and Maku assessing projects he didn't award the contracts.when did the PDP or federal govt take over the control of the NUJ or the different civil society organisations including PRONACO? The truth is that ACN is afraid that their cosmetism and deceit could be unveiled through this tour why the jittery. Outside Kagis and to some minute extent Edo, other ACN states are performing abysmally .
PoliticsRe: Good Governance Team Hail Uduaghan On Massive Development In Delta State by Elueme: 11:19pm On Feb 21, 2013
You are one of those who misquote the media and people. The tour started today and only few projects were seen in Asaba and Oghara according to my source and monitor. How could the team have pronounced a judgement of performance on the governor when they have not assessed 20% of the state? It should be noted here that the purpose of this tour isn't to rate any government but to monitor the level of progress and development across the country as well as expedite contract performance by the various contractors of government projects. The citizen's forum is significant and unique in its own way of giving the locals and others the platform to express themselves. Another significant achievement of this tour is that it has put state governors, contractors and agencies on their toes to deliver on projects . This initiative should be sustained if we need a real change in Nigeria.

People should learn to be objective and truthful. I think Oshiomohle goofed this time. I watched the brief interview granted the NUJ president, Alhaji Garba, the special adviser to the president on project monitoring, Hon. Nmonye and the information minister this evening and these trio were of the opinion that the comrade governor might have been misquoted. Oshiomohle should stop being in the news for the wrong reasons.
PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole Wont Use State Resources For Good Governance Tour by Elueme: 2:26pm On Feb 21, 2013
Parddie: My dear friend. Why do we always miss issues here in Nigeria. Aren't these tourists federal government sponsored? Why must state governors provide further sponsorship for a programme that is totally federal in initiation and execution. Then ask yourself what do 120 people want to go to states to see or report. Ask yourself what will be the outcome of this exercise in policy formulation and implementation. The best that they need from any governor is a list of his projects and location , maybe a guide too and security, which they do not require the governor to provide anyway, because police is a federal controlled organization. A governor needs no tour to sit up, his re-election or need for control is enough motivation for performance. It is only when the visit is consequential that a governor will sit up. In this case, it is of no consequence. What gave you the impression that the information ministry did not also provide fund for this jamboree. Governance and followership in this country are too sentimental and bereft of ideas as well as direction. Tell me one single statement that has been made in any of this sessions that is a product of a deep sense of commitment to the collective good of all. Don't you know that the minister is only interested in keeping his job by appearing to be proactive and creative? I support the governor a million times over. He know his worth and what he has done. He is also aware, being a right and objective thinker and not an emotional wreck, that finds himself in an office of great opportunity and responsibility, that Maku's opinion, declaration, affirmation, recommendation, proclamation and view, cannot buy a ball of bean cake in the market behind his own house. So of what consequence is it elsewhere? If you don't know you cannot attain without opportunity, so we are all opportunist and Oshomohle has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that he is a man that can convert opportunity to reality. That is a critical requirement of a true man and success. Even judges give dissenting judgement in a judgement. The view of the majority carries the day, but it not binding on other judges with a contrary view. If the governors forum wants it, it is not binding on all governors. How many governors know what they are doing anyway?
My dear I am sorry for honoring you with a reply so late, it is because I have not been on nairaland since yesterday. Let me begin by humbly telling you that you are ignorant about the tour, the intent and composition. It is wrong and false to tag the NGGT a federal govt tourist project. For your information, this tour was approved by the National Econ,ic council and was further amended and approved by the Nigerian governor's forum, a position which the chairman of the forum re-affirmed when the team was in Rivers State. We are in a system of a participatory democracy. Irrespective of our political affiliation, we must be patroitic and play according to the rules. Even if Oshiomohle had expressed a dissenting voice to the tour but the fact that his argument was defeated and the tour was unanimously endorsed is why he should oblige. You don't go against emotion that has been won by the majority and superior argument as a parliamentarian just because you were against it , a position which Oshiomohle of all people should have known. Let me bring to your fore that Oshiomohle's argument of fed govt total sponsorship is fallacious and most dishonorable. The agreement between the governor's forum and the pioneers of the tour was a shared responsibility as requested by the team and if Edo State diesn't have the resources to accommodate and feed 120 delegates compriising of local and foreign media outfits, NGOs and civil society groups, then he should have approached and related to the minister politely instead of thes publicity stunts tended to steal the show, a trend he is famed for. But if I may ask, why has Edo state gone bankrupt because I know since after the governorship election, no new projects has been assigned and some others previously approved have been stalled. Could it be that the state treasury was used in executing the governor's re-election campaign?

Gbawe: Nauseating but we should all realise that GEJ's press team is a reflection of his Presidency. What, for example, can be expected from Okupe who is a con man? Is it a coincidence that it is those totally lacking in conscience, like Omokri, who man the spin machinery of the GEJ government? We are simply witnessing what is expected for those who know and understand GEJ i.e a dishonest President surrounded by dishonesty.

We all know Jonathan pledged to serve one term to secure the help he needed at the time. No point belabouring that fact. These dishonest hacks should simply say nothing instead of trying to coerce other names into their fraudulent defence of conduct that exposes GEJ's lack of honour and moral uprightness.
You are notorious for talking way behind logic. Even if Jonathan signed fifteen of such agreements, it's still not binding on him to oblige their scheme because such an agreement was ibinitio illegal and the promise was not made to the Nigerian people. Are you now subscribing to politics of cabal?

jagabanban: Once again, the issue of this thread has been taken out of context by most commenters. The issue is about using state funds to finance the tour NOT on the relevance or necessity of the tour. I think its the absolute prerogative of the governor to decide what to spend money on or not. He has chosen not to! "There should be no fighting in the church, at all". Say your prayers, and I say Amen or keep mute.
My bro, let's be factual, no govt is run in isolation. Oshiomohle's action if real will be ill perceived no matter the logic he may profer.Oshiomohle is a member of the national council of state and nigeria governors forum where this tour was discussed and endorsed. Agreed he may have had a dissenting view but as earlier said, it's about a superior argument and number. Since these bodies have taken a position, I expect Oshiomohle to play along and stop being in the news for controversy. He must also understand that he doesn't know it all. Accomodating, feeding and providing logistics for 120 people can't make Edo go bankrupt.

PoliticsRe: Oshiomhole Wont Use State Resources For Good Governance Tour by Elueme: 11:24am On Feb 20, 2013
Oshomohle should stop playing a hero and act appropriately. The national good governance tour I learnt was a product of a consensus between the federal executive council and the governor's forum and I am surprised that my Oshomohle is now dancing a different tune even when his argument against the said tour didn't sail through at the forum. Democracy is a game of both number and superior argument and he( Oshomohle) was short of these two virtues when the issue was discussed before the tour was formally endorsed.
The agreement was a partnership between the federal and state. The state provides accommodation and feeding for the visiting team which comprises Nigerian union of journalists, civil society Organisations as well as government officials.
Despite the monetary involvement, I think the concept behind this tour is commendable. This is what our media houses ought to live up to by taking their time to do a thorough investigative journalism to ascertain what government at all levels are doing in the areas of infrastructural development. The citizens fora which I have watched so far had afforded many opportunity to air tbeir views and also to make contribution by way of informing the govt or suggestion on pertinent issues. Also, this tour will make many state governors to seat up, if regularized.
My humble advise is for the governor to play along if he had nothing to hide.. His position is most uncalled for and amount to being a betrayal. He is unnecessarily putting the state in the news for the wrong reasons but most unfortunately some may not see it this way that Oshomohle, though a good and a pragmatic leader, is an opportunist.

If he has a personnal scores to settle, he should settle It amicably and save us of rhetorics. The last time I checked, there was no water in Suleja and environs. I would have expected Aliyu Babaginda to summit himself for legal scrutiny for failing in this important project rather than attempting to pass the bulk. The level of arrogance display by our governors(especially Amaechi and Babaginda Aliyu) are quite appalling.

A president who failed to sign a state of the Union address, who cannot provide the basic amenities for his people like electricity, water, and good roads, a President who could not provide security from kidnapping, ritual killings, and Boko Haram sponsors could not be prosecuted openly, not only that, a president that failed to understand the need to have state and City police, Mayoral system of government for the cities of Nigeria and also accused by El Rufai of drinking Ogogoro or Sapale water on duty when over 150 million people are asking for a good 21st Century leadership. should not even try to think of collecting the form for re-election because he will run away from debates since he cannot even sign state of the Union address law.

I highlighted the bolded to help promote the nuisance and distortion of facts by the OP. The problem with you bigots is that you chose to be intentionally stupid and dumb that you misrepresent facts with the aim of deceiving your likes and shallow minded Nigerians. I will ask you the following questions :
- when did state of the union address become a standard for good governance?
- What were the states of our power sector, water accessibility and roads before this administration and also be frank to list the efforts of the president so far in fixing these key sectors?
- Do you totally concur that the establishment of state police is a more fundamentally important project a sane government should embark on with this level of reasoning and tribal disenchantment among our people? How about the strengthening of our federal police while efforts are made towards promoting the unity of our people?
- How does a president who drinks ogogoro, who takes to cigarette smoking or even womanises affect performance?
You look to me as either a paid agent of ACN or CPC or APC or you are just a joke! Please may I advise you to get a life and be more useful to yourself.

The Yorubas including Soyinka kept mute in most part of his administration even in the face of misrule, why they were so quick to sell their birthright by backing the man from Ota for a second term in 2011. This as usual will dwindle the popularity of the ruling government but one thing is that Ghanaians will be more objective in the analysis and response to the situation unlike Nigeria where the opposition will take a swipe on the situation to shine and misinform our people who are almost frustrated at several years of misrule. But I think Africans should be braze for economic revolution via reforms why we demand accountability from our leaders. No serious govt can sustain subsidizing premium motor spirit in this age of huge economic challenge and I am of the opinion that we must not always be negative about our leadership.

Which agreement are we talking here? Back door lame, informal arrangement that has no constitutional bearing or what? How does this affect the constitution of the federal republic and the eligibility of a candidate contesting elections as enshrined in the constitution. This move get to buttress the evil and cunniness of the northern governors who capitalized on the precarious situation of the president in the last general election to arm twist him into an Okija Like agreement. This desperate move by Aliyu and his clique is dead before arrival because the president like any other person is eligibly bound by the federal constitution to have a re- election and whatever, informal, verbal or written agreement he had with some persons are immaterial as far as good governance is concerned.
