it is not about foreign or local but getting a competent coach. Since 2000 we’ve only made 2 Afcon finals 1 foreign 1 local, failed to qualify for 2 Afcon courtesy of local coaches, failed to qualify for 1 World Cup courtesy of a local coach. We need a competent coach, we don’t need to be shouting local every time. it’s not like they’ve been spectacular for us
Same.as foreign too..so jihday abeg rest on foreign..I av later conclude dt if we can't settle for a grade A foreign coach, den it's better we stick to our locals..dey re d same when it comes to result achievement so far..no difference,so y waste tax payer money over what u can get here..its DT simple wink

decent football knowledge but not modern enough to me

Made a lot of reference on resurrecting our traditional wing play and expansive football which I hinted on few days ago nothing more nothing less

Was expecting to hear the tactical input that may be required if the opponent thwart our traditional game play but didn’t get any, may be that will be addressed when need be

There is another point he made which I concur and noticed as one of the issues bedeviling the team for some time now, lack of physical imposing players as we use to have before. I know many will argue that it’s irrelevant but in the African scene it’s goes a long way in helping team must especially the least rated teams.like he said physique mixed with technique and speed will be 100%

With what eguavoen said in the video with regards of how he wants his midfielders to play I think iwobi will be a jewel to him because the Everton man doesn’t shy away from getting the ball or making spaces for opening but very good at one touch football and long passes

On the other side ndidi will learn a lot from the coach because I believe from the video that he has few things ndidi needs to add to his game

Also as a coach who loves his full backs up the pitch aina will definetely shine under him
With his emphasis on physicality d likes of amoo even to some extent simon, won't really have a chance..d saving Grace for d likes of chidera, chuks, and maybe amoo is DT dey av d technique (football brain to cover up 4 dier small size)

Meanwhile he addressed d area when he said if d oppt thwart his wing play plans..dey go direct by attacking as a unit and defending as unit using d Bulgaria match as an example.
But I think he believes with dis set of players we shld be able to use d indirect method (dictate and dominate the games thru d wings and attack each spaces created by d opponent)
Although all those ones b English.. Let c is team play first grin

TheGoodJoe:

Nice video. It got a chance to give us a glimpse into Coach Eguavoen's understanding of the game. I wish he went a bit deeper into the tactical side of things but it showed he has a good grasp of the game.

One thing I liked about the video was getting to understand Zonal tactics. I have tried to understand it but Eguavoen did Justice in the video.

One thing we should expect is an improvement in our build up play.

We are going to play in an expansive pattern with our wingers gumming the offensive end.

Eguavoen wants flair and directness. I think he is going to go hard on Ndidi. He will want Ndidi to do more with ball and dictate play.

He might get something off Iwobi. He likes his creative midfielders operating from the deep.

One problem I had with the video is that a lot of the tactics he talked about relies on what the opponents bring to us. Which is we will play responsively.

He also did not talk about if we will press in our play.

Verdict:
I still feel Eguavoen is bringing some old school touch to the team. He believes we already have a strong blueprint and players that can fit into it.

I would prefer a more modern principle approach but Eguavoen has a closer understanding of the team.

Our coming style:
Eguavoen will want us to play a possessive and direct pattern.

Meaning we will use clever fluid play to break the shape of the opposition and exploit the spaces with speed, technique and intelligence.

I hope we know more from him but it was nice of Eguavoen to reach out to the public with what to expect.

Much respect Sir.
The tactical man has spoken cool

Pinnick is just a politician that barely understand and knows football

He does not even know how to look out for a coach with his assistants and technical team instead he went to Mouriho to recommend one of his country men for the super eagles. He didnt even meet renowed football consultants or interview array of interested foreign coaches
Well if I were to b pinnick I would av chilled till after d afcon tourney and c what d coaching crew can offer, style of play and d likes...if dey re convincing with deir style of play and pleasing to d fans..I will give eguavoen a two year contract, however pinick is not ready to gamble on DT,cos DT might dashed his wish of employing a foreign coach cos he knows dt if d team does well Cameroon,it will b too difficult on him to impose a foreign coach for d eagles smiley

We need real 10 in the Squad. Real Playmaker who can dictate the Game. New Coaching Crew should do their best to get at least 2 natural 10, regardless of League as far as they are talented.

Exactly

Someone is saying we shouldn't believe

See, where those three are involved, I will believe it

Because it is showing in their play

We can do without all of them. In fact, there are many players who are literally waiting for them to misbehave and to be shown the door so they can deservedly take their spot

Please someone should even point to a notable contribution of Kelechi Iheanacho and Omeruo to our teams qualification. Point to one substantial thing they did. Anyone?
Well maybe because of d types of players involved in dt scandal is making most of dem not to believe...if to say na like shehu, musa and simon wey majority no wan c again for d team, maybe dem go believe d news grin grin

I repeatedly told people I want Barcelona to sack Rijkaard in favor of a rookie coach Guardiola who was coaching the Barcelona B team.

People then used to tell me, "How can you even say such a thing?"

Why? Rijkaard had a nice CV but I preferred Guardiola because of his philosophy. So I don't want to hear about how many courses a coach has done. I want to know how he views the game and what are his ideas of the game.

That is what I use to judge my coaches. Not courses and camps.
Where's dt rijkaard self... Y is he not even considered for any top job or any decent team all dis years... He has been silent all dis while smiley
