Budding Nollywood actress and video vixen, Asakomhe Mary, aka Maryjane Benson has opened up in a chat about her opinion on relationship issues, especially when it comes to approaching a man, which is considered a taboo in this part of the world.

The actress mentioned that she ventured into the entertainment industry in 2011 and started her career as a video vixen in 2015.

She opened up to Potpourri that ever since she has been in the industry, she has encountered the good, the bad and the ugly and she has learnt so many things, including shelving inhibitions most girls grapple with.

“Yes, I can go out of my way to approach a guy I really like,” she responded in a chat with Potpourri when asked if she could make the first move to date a guy. “I don’t see anything wrong in that, if the guy doesn’t make the move, I can make it.

Sometimes men and women miss each other because of fear of who’s to make the first move. It may be that the guy likes me but shy to make the move. But if I make the move and the guy doesn’t respond in kind or refuses, I will leave him alone. I can’t force a guy to go out with me. I’m very emotional and I have cried for love before,”

she added.

She however refused to admit that video vixens are cheap and loose as widely believed by so many people:

“It is not true that video vixens are loose and tend to lure musicians to bed. Though, I can only speak for myself but many video vixens I know are not loose.

Besides, they do not even have the time to go about luring artistes to bed because the job is so stressful,”

she quips.

While comparing the financial reward that comes with acting and music video modelling, Maryjane was emphatic in her assertion.

A 38-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested with 1.21 kg heroin in India. The man was reported to have been caught on a Mumbai-bound Rajdhani Express at Vadodara railway station, Ahmedabad, India on Wednesday, March 7.

The arrest is considered to be one of the biggest hauls of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in recent times.

Madubueze Nonso Charles, who was travelling in A5 coach of the train, was arrested around 3.30 am from the train by the Ahmedabad zone sleuths who had a specific information about him from the Delhi zonal unit.

“When we searched his luggage, we found three concealed food packets of pistachios and rice flour. On opening them, we found white powder and tests confirmed that it was heroin,” said Hari Om Gandhi, director of Ahmedabad zonal unit of NCB.

Nigerian nabbed with 1.21 kg of heroin in India, claims he is HIV positive lailasnewsHe added that Charles, who is living in Mumbai as as a clothes trader, is only a carrier while the sender is the drug dealers.

“During interrogation, he told us that he had received the consignment from another Nigerian. However, he has not revealed the name of the person,” said Gandhi.

“Charles was told that on reaching Mumbai he would get a call from a specific phone number. He had to tell his location to the caller,” said Gandhi.

NCB officials suspect that the receiver would also be a drug dealer as no consumer of heroin would buy the drug in such a large quantity.

“Often those addicted to heroin, buy around 50 grams since it is a costly drug,” Gandhi said.

NCB will now be investigating about the frequency of Charles’s travels between New Delhi and Mumbai since he has admitted to carrying drugs consignment in the past as well.


Though the Nigerian had been living in Mumbai since four years on a business visa, he used to travel between Nigeria and India frequently. Whether he used to carry drugs during his trips between the two countries has not been known.

On checking his passport, NCB officials also learnt that his visa had expired on February 28.
NCB suspects that the heroin seized from Madubueze is of Afghan origin.

According to NCB officials, the heroin which is usually found in India is little brown in colour while the one seized was white, which is found only in Afghanistan. Lately, smuggling of drugs from Afghanistan through Pakistan has increased, officials said.

During interrogation, the Nigerian told investigators he is HIV infected. However, NCB will conduct medical tests to confirm this.

“He must be saying that he is HIV infected so that we go soft on him or for gaining sympathy from us. But we will make him undergo a medical test to know the truth,” said NCB official.

A lot of people listened to President Buhari’s speech during Ghana’s 61st Independence celebrations. However, not many, including controversial celebrity Afia Schwarzenegger, were impressed.

The President of Nigeria said Nigeria will help Ghana fight corruption. This didn’t go down well with citizens from both countries as everybody knows corruption especially within political office, is what has relegated the ‘Giant of Africa’ to the background with poverty ravaging its people.

Anyway, while reacting to Buhari’s speech, Afia Schwarzenegger called out Buhari and directed him to Mathew 7:3-5.

She wrote:

According to the passage where she directed the Nigeria's president to read from:

In other words, Afia Schwarzenegger thinks President Buhari is a hypocrite for saying Nigeria will help Ghana fight corruption. The Ghanaian OAP wants the Nigerian leader to tackle corruption first in his country rather than attack others for their small flaws while ignoring Nigeria’s massive ones.

President Buhari was the guest speaker at Ghana's 61st independence anniversary. And in his speech to the country people of Ghana, the Nigerian president had mentioned that Nigeria will assist Ghana in fighting corruption.

This statement angered a lot of Ghanaians and some even instructed President Buhari to tackle the snake that swallowed money in his country first and then later come to Ghana to help them fight corruption.

The trending artiste of the moment, Davido, who is currently touring the world for his 30Billion Concert, has donated a sum of $5,000 to students of a music school in Rwanda.

The artiste who is currently in Rwanda where he held the country's edition of the #30BillionConcert Africa yesterday, could be seen performing live for the students and then promising them free tickets to his show that was to come up later on that day.

The video of Davido performing was shared on his twitter page and the students were seen in a highly elated mood as the artiste sang his hits songs, while they chorused along.

The 30Billion Concert kicked off in December last year in Nigeria. The show was sponsored by popular soft drink Pepsi and it saw the reunion of Davido and Wizkid who had been his long term rival in the industry.

The show was reportedly a successful one that the artiste announced that he made N500million at the show. The entire social media went agog at the news and some even reported that it was not possible for the artiste to have made so much from just a single night show.

However, popular comedian, Ali Baba came to his defence when he mentioned that some people had contacted him and asked if it was possible to make such a huge amount of money in a day. The veteran comedian said it was possible and even possible to make more.

Davido announced some few days later that he had purchased a brand new Bentley car, which was reported to be worth about N80million.

In Febraury, the 30Billion Concert was moved to the United Kingdom where Davido toured about 5 cities before proceeding to Africa for the Africa version of the concert.

It all looks like the year 2018 will be a bigger year for the FIA crooner.

There was a mild drama at a cinemas in Lagos after a married man allegedly beat his wife after she confronted him and his side chic at the cinemas.

The man was reported to have taken the young lady to the Cinemas to watch a movie and have fun, but unknown to him, his wife had trailed them right to the cinemas.

The moment she spotted the lady in her husband's car, she was reported to have asked her to come down from the car, pounced on her and slapped her terribly.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the woman had asked the young lady if she didn't know that he is a married man with kids at home. The girl was reported to have been dismayed by the assault and couldn't utter a single word.

The man in his reaction, didn't take the assault on his side chic lightly and instead vented his anger on his wife.

He was reported to have taken off his belt and flogged her terribly. She was reported to have run to her car and was about driving out of the scene when the man blocked the road and asked her to get off the SUV.

The man then asked her to hand over the key to the car as he was the one that bought the car for her and so he had every right to retrieve it.

It took the intervention of the security personnel at the scene with the assistance of the LASTMA officials deployed to the area to stop the husband from beating his wife further.

The alleged side chic was spotted away from the scene while the man was battering the wife. She was reported to have called on a friend to report the incident and requested that the friend come pick her up.

After photos of a teacher in Ghana teaching his students about the computer with drawing on the board, went viral. A lady tagged Microsoft and requested that they assist the school with a computer.

Microsoft replied in the affirmative and also promised to support the teacher with further training to equip him with more advanced skills.

The teacher who became an online sensation after photos of him drawing a computer on a blackboard, claimed there was no computer in the school and they had to improvise to tutor the students who were so much willing to learn.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teacher, Richard Appiah Akoto decided to be innovative in the face of lacking teaching and learning materials. So Akoto had an ingeniously simple idea: he drew computer features and software on his blackboard, using multicolored chalk.

Pictures of Richard Appiah Akoto drawing a Microsoft word interface on a board for his pupils were shared on Twitter.

Social media exploded in admiration and wonder at his effort to explain how the computers works. Some people went as far as saying the guy should be nominated for a Nobel Prize award.

Among the hundreds of people who shared the post and helped popularize it was Rebecca Enonchong, an entrepreneur who urged Microsoft Africa on Twitter to provide Akoto with some proper devices so he can leave the chalkboard behind.

On Tuesday, Microsoft Africa replied, promising Akoto a computer and access to educational material.

“Teaching of ICT in Ghana’s school is very funny,” he says on the caption accompanying the post.

An obviously heartbroken man has taken to Facebook to narrate how soldiers attached to the Trans Amusement Park, in Ibadan, the Oyo State government killed his twin brother after a scuffle.

The Oyo State government has however ordered the indefinite closure of Pete’s Bar & Lounge, located within the park and where the sad incident was reported to have occurred.

The state Executive Secretary, Bureau of Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnerships, Mr Yinka Fatoki, issued the directive.

According to the man identified as Adeleke Taiwo, the owner of the bar, grabbed a gun from one of the soldiers and shot his brother in the neck just because he challenged them for beating his younger brother.

On Monday 26th of February at exactly 6:45pm, myself( Adeleke Taiwo) Kehinde and some if our friends got to trans to chill after the day's work. That is how we have been going there since 2016 without causing any trouble in the vicinity. Before now, we have always been seeing men if the operation Burst with Seyi (Fathers Luski) the owner of the Bar.

They drink, chat and smoke together on a daily basis. He always use them as a tool of oppression over anyone who question him. At exactly 7:20pm, Kehinde Adeleke, a young, intelligent and friendly young man who just clocked 30 years last month was shot with a gun of one of the men of the operation Burst constituted by the Abiola Ajimobi led government in Oyo state at the Trans Amusement Park around Agbowo UI Ibadan.

It was gathered that, Kehinde who was killed by Father Luski and men of the operation burst sent his immediate younger brother Damola an errand to get him food. On Damola's return, some guys were arguing with him for parking space and all of a sudden the guy slapped Damola Adeleke. Someone went to call Kehinde Adeleke that his younger brother Damola is being beaten up by some guys. On getting there, Kehinde was trying to inquire what transpired between the duo.

However, during the conversation, Seyi( Father Luski) the owner of the bar appeared with some men of the Operation Burst who even without any question from those involved in an argument asked father Luski what was wrong then father Luski pointed to Damola Adeleke as the trouble maker. Immediately he said that, one of the men of the operation Burst smashed a big stick on Damola's head who fainted immediately.

People rushed to get water and pour it on him. As that was going on, Kehinde was telling Father Luski that he has not done well that he supposed to settle this and not put blame on one person. The argument went on for almost 5minutes before Father Luski became angry and collected riffle hanged on the shoulder from one of his friends (Men of the Operation Burst) then shot Kehinde in the neck which I was there with the owner of the Bar (seyi AKA father luski ), I was the one hold and dragged the owner of the bar (seyi) in to my car that he had killed my twin brother which he could not escaped.When people heard the gun shot, everywhere was scattered . The operation burst now started spraying gun shots around the premises.

The remaining men of the operation burst ran away but when they got to know that The second in command and the owner of the bar that shot kehinde Adeleke which is called Father Luski has been apprehended by Kehinde's brothers and friends, the operation burst locked the Trans gate and prevented them from taking Kehinde to the hospital for over 30min.

Tope was the one driving the car where Kehinde was kept. Some men of the operation burst pointed gun to his head that he should open the door for The apprehended culprit to escape.

Immediately when we left there, we took Kehinde Adeleke to UCH, he was rejected, we immediately took him to Eleyele police Hospital at the police headquarters, the Doctors there said he was still alive but they don't have necessary tools to carry out any surgery on him that we should take him to Molly Hospital at IDI APE.

When we discovered that these hospitals are not attending to us, we called our friend and Brother, Babatunde Badmus who then help us took him to Molly Hospital from Eleyele. On getting to Molly hospital, we were told by the doctor who attended to us that they couldn't feel any pulse again. Then we went to UCH to reaffirm that. On getting to UCH, we saw three patrol vans of operation burst fully loaded with men and ammunition. They blocked the normal entrance then we took the exit so that we can get to the emergency ward.

While we were going to Molly hospital, two of our friends who could not follow the car we were carrying took bike and waited for us at the emergency gate of UCH. It was later realized that men of the operation burst arrested these two guys, tortured them and asked them to call us to come out that they want to arrest all of us.( Those guys were not handed over to the police for questioning but we're brutally tortured overnight by the operation burst in their office around NTA IBADAN. They failed to arrest us because of our number and our peaceful resistance coordinated by Babatunde Badmus who helped us to drive him to all the hospitals.

Immediately when we entered the emergency, the colonel in charge of the Operation Burst commanded his men to take positions as if they want to wage war against us. They started corking their guns and pointing it at us. Then Babatunde Badmus went to meet the leader of the team and have a discussion with him on why should his men bring ammunition to the hospital where civilians are being treated? But he had no tangible answer. At the end, we had some videos of the Operation Burst fully armed inside the hospital and how they were ready to kill more people. We all went there without any ammunition. We were only sad because our brother was killed yet, we were being victimized by the law enforcement agencies.

We later took him to the Mortuary with some men of Sango Police station where his body was kept

When Amarachi dance won the popular reality TV show, Nigeria's Got Talent in 2012, she was just 8 years old and she was announced as the youngest Nigerian to ever win a public show and at the same time the youngest entertainment millionaire. 6 years later, new photos of the beautiful dancer have emerged.

Amarachi Uyanne, who’s a violinist, singer and dancer then went further in her career to release dance videos as well as other hit songs. But after a while she disappeared off the radar and most of her fans wondered where she was.

But it seems our beautiful dancer is still very much around as new photos of the girl, who have grown into a lovely teenager have surfaced on the internet.

After emerging as the winner of Nigeria's Got Talent, Amarachi released her debut single titled "Amarachi Dance". She proceeded to feature Phyno in a song titled "Ova Sabi"; her first two singles received massive airplays and positive reviews from music critics.

Amarachi Dance was born on July 17 2004 and she is currently 14 years of age. She is a native of Benin, Edo State, but she grew up in Delta, where she started dancing at the age of 5. She got famous after winning the 2012 edition of the Nigeria's Got Talent reality TV show where she won N10million.

After she won the ultimate prize at the show, little Amarachi Dance surprised many hen she said, being the first daughter, she had plans to take care of her siblings and also study abroad.

According to her:

“I am the first daughter. I am planning for my siblings now. I want to fund my education and that of my siblings abroad.”

Her mother Mrs Uyanne was then asked what next it was for the daughter and if she had plans to manage her career. She said:

“I know we are going to be getting calls which have already started. That’s why I want to manage her personally. I don’t want any distraction.”

There is now a trend among pregnant women in Ghana. Due to the general fact that most Ghanaian babies are born dark, women are now taking pills while in pregnancy to lighten the skin of their unborn babies.

Medical experts however stated that these illegal drugs can cause birth defects, including damage to limbs and internal organs.


Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says using Glutathione pills for this purpose is dangerous, adding it wants "the general public to know that no product has been approved by the FDA in the form of a tablet to lighten the skin of the unborn child”.

"The use of these drugs has gone to an alarming stage; it is ignorance that is making people do so," the FDA's head of cosmetics and household chemicals, Emmanuel Nkrumah, said at a media-sensitisation workshop on unapproved bleaching pills and products.

"[The only things] that you take orally should be food, toothpaste and mouthwash, and not bleaching pills," Nkrumah said.

The practice is growing in Ghana, according to the FDA, with pills often smuggled into the country inside luggage at airports in large quantities.

Although comprehensive data has not yet been gathered, the body says market surveillance and stakeholder activity have helped to reveal the trend among women crosses socio-economic divides.

Security agencies and police are working together to arrest and prosecute companies and individuals in possession of the illegal tablets.

Ghana hit the headlines last month when candidates for jobs in the immigration service were disqualified from the recruitment process if they bleached skin or stretch marks, for fear they might bleed during the "strenuous" training.

A Nigerian man identified as Treasure Olawunmi Bayode is on course to break the world reading marathon record.

The man took to twitter via his handle (@iread_bayode) and revealed that he is attempting to set a new Guinness world record for "The Longest Reading Marathon"

The young man who kicked-off his reading marathon at the You Read Library, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba in Lagos, said that he plans to read for 120 hours straight with only two hours break every 24 hours.

Bayode began the quest at about 1:30pm on Monday with reading from the book Carnivorous City by Toni Kan.

According to him

“I have always loved to read good materials right from when I was in secondary school.,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I am doing this for the culture! For the reading culture. I am doing this for the youths; to remind them that education is the bedrock of development.

“I am doing this for Nigeria – for the world know we’re a great nation – and yes, we do have libraries!”

According to TheCable, Bayode on Wednesday, have already read for 48 hours.

“48 HOURS and counting!!! I started from Monday (13:30 GMT + 1), now we’re here! I am still on course to make history. Everything I have done and who I have become prior to this day has uniquely prepared me for this,”

he tweeted.

Sponsors of the event include Guaranty Trust Bank, Tagheuer, Lagos state government amongst others. At present, the longest marathon reading aloud record is 113 hours 15 minutes achieved by Deepak Sharma Bajagain (Nepal) at the Tudikhel Ground, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Bajagain’s book reading began on September 19 and ended on September 24, 2008.

With Bayode's quest to reach the 120 hour mark. He will not only hold the Guinness World record for the longest time reading, he might be on the path to hold the record for a very long time.

Kenyan woman based in the United States of America has wedded her lesbian partner who is a model at a low key ceremony.

Manuella Mumbi, alias Manuelle Royale, a businesswoman born and brought up in Kahawa, Kiambu County, Kenya, exchanged vows with Lisa Webb Clay in low key gay ceremony with no witnesses except for the cleric who officiated their union.

Mumbi reportedly relocated to the US to live with her lover Clay, said to be a model from Texas. It was reported that Mumbi was invited to the United States by the model to formalize their engagement.

After the wedding, Mumbi took to her Facebook page and posted pictures of her big day along with sweet message to her new husband.

One of the richest women in Africa, Folorunso Alakija has made a revelation about her life that not so many people know of. According to the billionaire, she was able to achieve greatness in life even without a University degree.

There was pandemonium at LEA primary school, Kubwa, Abuja, when three pupils of the school have been confirmed dead after allegedly eating biscuits shared by a student during school hours.

According to DailyTrust, the late students identified as Na’imat Yahaya, 14, and Yahaya Garba, 14, both in primary four, died after returning to their homes.

The third late student identified as Moses Sunday of primary one, was said to have been taken to the Kubwa hospital along with two other school pupils namely Aisha Isa and Hasiya Haruna on the day of the party.

He died on Wednesday while the two others are said to be in stable condition. The development has led to confusion in the area, with parents storming the school to pick their children.

The children were reported to have shared biscuits among themselves as one of the them celebrated his birthday. According to sources within the school, the child that shared the biscuits among his friends has not been identified as the school didn't get hold of the situation as the pupils didn't show any sign of distress during school hour.

According to one of the parents that stormed the school to pick up her ward:

"I didn't hear about the information on time until a friend called me this afternoon that children are dieing here in this school. I had to abandon what I was doing to rush down her and pick up my children. This is quite sad and i think it i time for school managements to top pupil from celebrating their birthdays in school"

The residents around the school and families of the victims however stormed the school vicinity to wreck havoc. This was quelled by the operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and policemen deployed to the scene.

The LEA primary school which is a venue for voters' registration has been locked temporarily and investigations are already ongoing on the cause of death of the victims

The Mother of late Ghanaian singer, Ebony Reigns, who died in a road accident on February 8th, has mentioned that her daughter has given her the assurance that she will return.

Madam Beatrice Oppong says the late singer visited her and he mentioned to her that she will be back soon while she was trying to console her.

The grieving mother made this revelation in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM. According to her, her daughter paid her a visit in her dreams and asked her to top grieving. She then went further to say that the singer assured her that she is definitely coming back

She said the singer told her:

“Maa m?san aba” to mean ‘Mum I shall return’.

Ebony, died in a fatal accident on her way to Accra alongside her friend and Personal Assistant, with the Air-force personnel that served as a bodyguard to the popular singer.

The singer would have celebrated her 21st birthday on the 16th February. Despite her demise, friends and families gathered together to celebrate the singer. Her mother, Beatrice Oppong wished her late daughter a happy birthday “wherever she may be” and said she really loves her.

Madam Beatrice had earlier visited the scene of the accident to ascertain for herself what caused the death of her beloved daughter. It was noted that the accident could have been avoided if the contractor that was handling the road construction had taken enough time to complete the road project.

The vehicle that Ebony Reigns was traveling in was reported to have had a head-on collision with another bus on the other lane just as they tried to avoid a heap of sand that was on their lane.

According to the mother:

"I hereby call on all the authorities entrusted with safety and maintenance on our roads to be proactive. Everyone involved in road construction must take safety seriously to ensure that the live of the roads users are not endangered.

If the contractor responsible for that stretch of road had sped up with his work, my daughter might not have died as she traveled on that road"

Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson who is married to Prince Odianosen Okojie, has stated the reason why she doesn't act romantic roles in movies anymore.

According to the actress, her husband although does not watch her movies, but she decided to stop acting in romantic movies to respect him and her marriage.

Mercy Johnson was recently rumoured to be having marital issues in her marriage, but has since debunked that, has just released a new movie and she talks about the concept behind the movie.

"The movie is in connection with my job as Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Arts and Culture to Kogi State governor, His Excellency, Yahaya Bello. He said every sector must be operative to make the state a haven for tourism and entertainment. I believe culture exists before religion, so we have to go back to our root as a reason to draw us closer. That’s where the idea for the talent hunt came.

After the talent hunt we realised we had more people in the movie sector, so we decided to bring heavyweights in filmmaking such as Sam Dede, Saidi Balogun, Paul Obazele and award-winning film director, Frank Rajah Arase. We then decided to shoot an epic movie to portray our root and showcase the rich culture and tradition of Kogi State, instead of shooting the regular conventional story. That’s how we chose the movie titled, ‘Inikpi’"

When she was asked about the reason why she stopped acting romantic roles in movies.

She said,

"My husband doesn’t watch my movies. But I think he has heard about the clown I am in movies (laughter). Nevertheless, I adore him for being my backbone and supporter of my career.

”Though, for the past eight years of our relationship, I haven’t featured in romantic roles. This is because he doesn’t like it and I can’t do it for all the money in the world.”

Mercy Johnson then went ahead to describe her husband and why she cherishes him so much.

He is a very humble man, friendly and calm. When I’m doing the crazy things, he looks at me and shakes his head. In fact, he is a gentleman, he is not dramatic at all and he always tells me he doesn’t understand from where I get all my dramas. Controversial comedian, Baba De Baba, who considers himself as the Comedian with the Biggest Ears, has come on Facebook to say he can't marry a woman he can't beat.

Chidi Uzoma, who must have said this in a bid to trend, may not really understand the gravity of the statement as this could have a negative effect on his career.

“I am different from any other actress because I am Caroline and there can never be another Caroline. Nobody can interpret roles the way I do and I cannot interpret roles like my colleagues do too. Everyone has their own strength and weakness. I have so much to offer than my beauty. I have my brain; so, no one can push me aside.”

Danjuma stated that piracy and the inordinate percentage of earnings that goes to cinemas were some of the factors that had discouraged her from producing movies in recent times.

According to her:

“It is really tough for producers. I won a lot of awards for the two movies, In the Cupboard and Stalker, I produced three years ago, but I didn’t recoup the money I invested in them. Piracy makes producers struggle to get returns on investments. We also have very few cinemas in the country and the existing ones rip you off by taking 70 per cent of the profit of your creative work.

“Sometimes, it takes us five years to write a script and put a movie together. By the time you are done, someone else enjoys 75 per cent of it and you are left with literally nothing. All these have discouraged me from producing because I am not a ‘monkey that would work for a baboon to eat’. After my movie is pirated, the cinema will also take 70 per cent of what I have worked for? It doesn’t make sense.”

Before she takes up any movie roles, Caroline Danjuma said she considers these factors,

“I look at the location, characters and the pay I’m taking home. If I am going to give my all, I need you to give me your 100 per cent as well. I have bills to pay; I cannot do charity work.”

Popular and controversial Nigerian nudist, Maheeda has made a revelation about her background. According to Dutch-based lady, she has never met her parents as they abandoned her as a baby.

She mentioned this in a chat and she aid she does not have much memory about her childhood and even the few things that come to her mind as a child are not good memories that she wishes to be reminded of.

She said:

"I grew up in Kano State, but I don’t remember much about my childhood; even the few things that I can recall are not pleasant memories. I never knew my parents because I was abandoned as a baby. My childhood was characterised by loneliness, sadness and feelings of worthlessness. From a very young age, I was desperate for freedom and happiness. I just wanted to be accepted. I didn’t have a happy childhood. I was raised by kind-hearted people who took pity on me:

Maheeda also talked about her education and she claimed that she was only able to get basic education as there was no fund to further:

"The only school I attended was Ota Akara Primary School, Kano, for my elementary education. There was no money for me to further my education. However, I continued to educate myself beyond school and the streets also helped me. As a child, my ambition was to marry a Caucasian.

As a child, the only difference between me and the kids that ate rice anytime they wanted and had a lot of toys, was the fact that their mum married a white man. Meanwhile, those were the things I didn’t have. While growing up, all my hustle was geared towards that direction and I am glad that I succeeded. I am now a citizen of the Netherlands. However, I now know better. It is not about marrying a white man; it is more about what you can make out of the life God has given you"

She was asked on why she ventured into music:

"I used to love Indian films while growing up. I was enthralled by the singing and dancing in those movies; so, I wanted to do the same. I reasoned that being an entertainer would make me famous and somebody to be reckoned with in the society. At that time, I had very low self-esteem and I felt like nobody.

After I met a rich white man and I started having money back then in Port Harcourt, I began to invest in music. I started as a secular singer and the first song I released was titled, I no want you. The beat was really nice but I couldn’t really sing, so, my voice sounded awkward in the song. I was really criticised and that hurt me. As an uneducated poor lady trying to make a career and a life for herself, I was almost discouraged by jobless haters. My most popular song as an artiste was Oko yan pia. It did quite well. The last time I released a song was four years ago; I’m busy with my family now

"I started posting nude pictures simply because I could. I don’t owe anybody any explanation. Some people may think I just post nude pictures for fun but I love my job as a nude model. I have no control over the fact that some people masturbate with my pictures. Everybody has their lives to live and they can do as they please. The truth is that most Nigerians are hypocrites. They don’t want people to know that they like what I do. There are so many people that abuse me in the comments section, yet send me private messages, asking to get intimate with me."
