Osun State Poly, Iree students have burnt down the medical center in the school after one of the their colleagues died over the health center's alleged negligence on Friday evening.

According to reports, the protesting students stormed the school’s health centre on Saturday morning set fire on the school ambulance and other equipment in the clinic.

They alleged that medical personnel had left the clinic as at the time a Higher National Diploma I student, Aminu Sheu Hammed was brought in after slumping in the examination hall.

Sheu had slumped immediately after writing his second semester examination and died hours later at a hospital outside the school campus, Osun Defender reports.

Sheu, a student of the Department of Applied Chemistry was said to have been observing the ongoing Ramadan fast before he suddenly lost balance after submitting his paper to invigilators at the PLT examination hall.

According to the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tope Abiola, Sheu was said to have been rushed to the school’s clinic at about 4:30pm where medical personnel on duty made frantic efforts to resuscitate him but to no avail.

Abiola said that Sheu was immediately referred to another hospital in the polytechnic town in order to get more hands from other medical personnel.

Unfortunately, Sheu gave up the ghost few minutes later at Ogo Oluwa hospital where he was taken to in the school ambulance.

Abiola said that the deceased was observing the Ramadan fasting and that he might have slumped due to loss of strength.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo alongside 392 passengers just escaped a plane crash in Lagos.

According to reports, Obasanjo and the other passengers were aboard an Ethiopian Airlines plane, en-route Nigeria from Ethiopia.

The passenger aircraft, ET-901, had departed the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, at about 9.10 am, Ethiopian time; 7 am Nigerian time.

The almost 5-hour flight from the Ethiopian capital to Lagos had been smooth until the pilot attempted to land at the Murtala Muhammed International airport.

Rather than landing on the first touchline of the runway, the pilot over short it, due to rain and heavy wind, landing on the third touchline.

Reports have it that, on realizing this, the pilot quickly maneuvered the plane back air, flying out of the Lagos airport.

Other prominent Nigerians in the Ethiopian airline passenger aircraft, Boeing 777-300, included the director general of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni.

Also in the plane was Prof Samson Tunde Adebayo, the director of ports inspection, National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) as well as scores of Nigerians and other nationals, Legit NG reports

After hovering around between Lagos and areas suspected to be in Ogun, causing panic in passengers and crew members, the plane landed in Lagos airport, some 20 minutes after the initial false landing.

The duty manager and Chief Customer Service (Nigeria) of the airline, Mr. Otori Jimoh Otan, said if the pilot had continued taxing down after landing on the third touchline, he would have overshot the runway.

“But this is an experienced pilot. He realized this immediately. Fortunately, the distance between when he realized the situation still permitted him to take off and renegotiate landing,” Otori said.

“These things happen. That is where the sophistication of the aircraft and experience of the cabin crew members come in.

“The aircraft is one of the best you can have around and we are fortunate to have pilots who know their onions” he said.

A landlady identified as Nathalie Ruangdet has taken to Facebook to expose her former dirty tenant who left his toilet in an extremely dirty state before packing out.

Nathalie Ruangdet went to check the apartment after the former tenant had left the key with security and didn’t demand for his deposit.

The rooms looked okay but the toilet looked like it had not been cleaned in nine years, Ruangdet said.

She however said the dirty tenant was a very good guy, shows so much respect. Sometimes he didn’t pay on time but covered up with three months in one go. Apart from this he was a good and long term tenant.

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to expose the plot of scammers who contacted him to get his personal bank details after revealing his BVN and some other details they are not supposed to have.

According to the man, a certain number called him claiming they are calling from a Nigerian bank. They gave out some of his details and then expecting the man to divulge more details about himself.

He then wondered how they got his other details in the 1st place if there are no insiders in the bank.

A video showing residents of a certain community attacking PHCN staff in a highly violent manner, has surfaced on the internet.

In the video, a staff of the electricity company could be seen on top a ladder trying to disconnect power supply into a home.

Obviously angered by the move, an occupant of the house who had earlier warned them not to disconnect the wire, charged toward the officials and attempted to trip off the ladder to fall the official on top.

Fight immediately ensued between the occupant, identified as Alfa in the video, and the other official on ground.

In no time, other residents joined in and they began to rain blows on the official.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for rise in suicides and other social ills in the country.

The opposition party made this allegation in a statement signed by the PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday, May 26, 2019, Pulse NG reports.

The party further blamed the ruling All Progressive Congress and the President for doing nothing in the face of rising insecurity across the country.

The party said:

“The PDP described as a national tragedy, the rising spate of suicides, slavery mission abroad, divorces, child abandonment and other social degeneration occasioned by the worsening economic hardship, poverty, hunger and rising insecurity under the incompetent, corrupt, divisive and manipulative All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

“The party laments that such social ills, which is a direct response to bad governance, occurs when citizens are overwhelmed by gloom, with no hope in sight, particularly after their majority vote for a new, purposeful and result-oriented President in the PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar, as expressed in the February 23 Presidential election, was subverted with brazen impunity.

“In the last few months, the news media has been awash with horrible reports of teenage suicide in our country.

“Banditry, insurgency, marauding, bloodletting and kidnapping with unmentionable ransoms, have almost become daily occurrences. Our citizenry is now battling with the worst kind of siege mentality.

“Constitutional violations, human rights abuses, arbitrary arrests, extra-judicial killings, assault on perceived dissenting voices and attempt at annexation of our institutions of democracy, particularly the judiciary, signposts a nation in dire strait.

“Misery has set in. This is evident in the shrinking of our nation’s Gross Domestic Produce (GDP) to 2.1percent in the first quarter of 2019.

“It is saddening that at the time Nigerians ought to be celebrating, they are rather forlorn, committing suicide and exiting the country in droves.

“Most Nigerians have become downhearted in the face of an administration that wrecked our once robust economy and divided our people; in the face of worsening joblessness, piling bills, hunger and diseases; in the face of incompetence, lies, and unfulfilled promises of free homes, monthly allowance to unemployed youth and the poor, bringing the naira to the same value as the US Dollar, creating of 5 million new jobs, ending of insurgency in three months and myriad of other false promises.”

The PDP also complained about Nigeria’s rising debt profile under Buhari as well as the alleged elevation of incompetence, deceit, propaganda, failure and “cabal mentality”

In just less than a year into their marriage, the Super Eagles ex-striker and his wife have revealed there is ditress in their home as checks on their social media profiles on Instagram indicate that the duo are not following each other.

At least 20 people, most of them students, have been killed in a massive fire which broke out at a coaching centre in Surat, Gujarat, republic of India on Friday.

Reports have it that most of the students that lost their lives, died either due to suffocation or by jumping off the building to escape the inferno.

In a video of the incident, some young students at the Takshashila Complex in Sarthana area, where the building is located, can be seen jumping off the third and fourth floors amid plumes of thick smoke. At least 70 students were inside the building when the fire broke out.

The fire started near the staircase, so they could not get down,” Joint Commissioner of Police Harikrishna Patel said, adding that all the dead were aged below 20 years.

Nineteen fire tenders and two hydraulic platforms were pressed into service to douse the fire and rescue those stuck inside the building, said an official of Surat fire control room.

The fire was doused within an hour. No safety equipment was reportedly installed in the building, added the official, IndiaToday reports.

The fire was reportedly triggered by a short circuit. An FIR has been registered against three people, including the builders of the complex.

They have been identified as Harshal Vekaria and Jignesh. The owner of the coaching centre, Bhargav Bhutani, has also been detained.

While Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said at least 19 students died in the fire, his deputy Nitin Patel put the figure at 20.

“As per the information received, 20 students have died in the fire. Many others were injured and shifted to a hospital,” Patel said.

Expressing anguish, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he has directed the state government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected.

The entire nation was shocked as video of the students jumping from the 4-storery building to their death surfaced on the internet.

Three Nigerian men have been jailed in the United Kingdom for 40 years for conspiring to transport firearms and drugs into the UK via Eurotunnel.

On Friday 17 May at Woolwich Crown Court, Kennedy Udo, 28 of Avery Hill Road, Eltham, SE9 was sentenced to eight years and six months, having been found guilty of conspiracy to supply drugs and being knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of goods, Metropolitan Police reports.

Michael Mgbedike, 22 of Spur Road, Orpington, BR6 was sentenced to eight years, having been found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

Previously, on 7 September 2018, Emmanuel Okubote, 27 of Evan Cook Close, Peckham, SE15 was found guilty of conspiracy to supply firearms with intent to endanger life, conspiracy to possess ammunition with intent to endanger life, conspiracy to supply class A drugs and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life.

He was sentenced to 23.5 years’ imprisonment on 9 November 2018.

The sentences follow a proactive operation by the Trident and Area Crime Command, working with Border Force.

On 12 August 2017, two loaded firearms, ammunition and a sound moderator were recovered in Coquelles in France, in a car destined for Folkestone. The car was seized and subsequently 990 grams of high purity cocaine were recovered from inside the car’s roof cavity.

Udo and Mgbedike were arrested at the scene and subsequently charged. An investigation was launched by the Trident and Area Crime Command and Okubote and a woman were arrested in the early hours of 13 August.

They were charged with firearms offences in January 2018 when a loaded firearm was recovered from an address in Torcross Drive, Forest Hill.

Okubote’s fingerprints were recovered from a carrier bag in which the firearm was held in and his DNA was recovered from two parts of the firearm. In addition, a firearm was recovered from a vehicle in North London where Okubote’s fingerprint was also found on the bag that contained the firearm.

Detectives established that the men had made several trips to Amsterdam, via Eurotunnel, during the months of July and August 2017.

It is believed that at least three importations of prohibited firearms and drugs had taken place. Okubote was established to be the main orchestrator in the conspiracy, using others with little or no previous criminal history to work for him.

DC Sarah Smart of Trident, said:

“This conviction demonstrates the close working partnership between Trident, Border Force and the Crown Prosecution Service in pursuit of the country’s most dangerous criminals.

“Emmanuel Okubote, along with Michael Mgbedike and Kennedy Udo were intent on importing loaded firearms and drugs through the UK’s borders, bringing misery to the communities that we serve.

The collaborative work between agencies, as well as between different departments and experts within the Met, has undoubtedly saved lives. This demonstrates that law enforcement agencies will relentlessly pursue those who carry, and those who facilitate the movement of firearms and drugs into and within the UK.

“The Metropolitan Police Service, as well as other law enforcement agencies, are committed to making the UK a hostile environment for these criminals to operate.”

Tee Billz has called out Ruggedman after young rapper Naira Marley was remanded in prison custody.

Earlier today, Naira Marley was arraigned at a Federal High Court in Ikoyi on charges bothering on fraud.

He was ordered by the court to be remanded in prison until May 30th pending his bail application hearings.

In his reaction to Marley’s ordeal, music executive Tee Billz wished for favor for him and called out veteran rapper Ruggedman who didn’t deem it fit to chastise the young rapper in private, rather selling him out to the authorities by calling him a fraudster in public.

Naira Marley remanded in prison by Justice Nicholas Oweibo at a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.The rapper was arraigned before the court on an 11 count charge of alleged credit fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed the charge against him on Tuesday, May 14, Channels TV reports.

When the counts were read to him, Naira Marley pleaded not guilty.

The court fixed May 30 for arguments on his application for bail.

Count one of the charge reads: “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Yard Isril (still at large), on or about the 26th day of November 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourselves to use access card 5264711020433662 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.

“If convicted on the charge, the musician shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than seven years or a fine of not more than N5,000,000.00 and forfeiture of the advantage or value derived from his act.”

As more Nigerians continue to agonize on the purported ‘drowning’ economic situation of the country, a Nigerian man has said Nigeria can never be fixed.

In his rant on Facebook, the man with the name Somtoo Okwueze wrote that it will be a wastage of one’s time and effort claiming to be patriotic while the country is not getting any favorable for the citizens.

A Hero dog in Thailand named Ping Pong is being hailed in the Asian country for helping save the life of a newborn baby after the infant’s 15-year-old mother tried to hide the birth by burying the boy alive.

Ping Pong, who has only three working legs, was seen scratching at some dirt alongside a farmer’s field in Korat, located in the northeastern part of the Asian country on Wednesday.

Ping Pong’s owner Usa Nisaika went to check the commotion and found an infant’s leg poking up from where the dog was scratching.

The infant has been deemed healthy and police have arrested his 15-year-old mother on suspicion of attempted murder.

Usa said his dog – which only has three working legs having been hit by a car when he was younger – was a ‘hero’.

He said:

‘I have had Ping Pong since he was born and he has always been very loyal and obedient.

‘When he was younger a car hit him and his back leg was injured. He cannot use it but he still helps me when I’m herding cows.

‘Everybody in the village is amazed by what he has done now. He is a hero because he saved the life of the baby.’

The teenage mother was arrested a day after the attempted murder.

She purportedly told police she was trying to hide the birth because she was afraid her parents would be angry at her.

Her parents have offered to take the baby boy but authorities have not agreed to it yet, The Daily Mail reported.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has received a 2-match ban for grabbing New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson by the neck during Los Angeles Galaxy’s defeat last weekend, Major League Soccer said Friday.

In a statement announced by The MLS Disciplinary Committee, the sanction was meted to Ibrahimovic for violent conduct after the incident in the 86th minute of the game on May 11.

Ibrahimovic and Johnson wrestled each other to the floor after coming together in the closing stages of Galaxy’s defeat last week.

Both players received a yellow card for the incident for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Johnson later accused Ibrahimovic of losing his cool.

“Zlatan is a talented player, he obviously knows what he is doing, he is a clever boy and you know, it is a part of the game,” Johnson said.

“I would be frustrated if I were him too, you know. Can’t blame him for his frustration at that point in the game,” the goalkeeper added.

It is the second retrospective sanction Ibrahimovic has received in recent weeks.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC operatives in Ibadan have been attacked by dogs unleashed on them by suspected yahoo boys.

According to reports, officers of the commission had stormed the suspects’ hideout at Agara area of Ibadan at the early hours of the day.

The officers were however faced with stiff resistance as one of the suspected fraudsters was reported to have instructed the guard to release their ferocious dogs to attack the operatives.

The trick, however, failed to work. It rather tasked the detectives to display their dexterity and professionalism. They were able to dislodge the dangerous dog, carry out extensive search on the apartment and effect arrest of the suspects, The Nation reports.

Again, out of desperation to conceal useful information that could help the commission in their investigation, one of the suspects smashed his android phone with the intention to destroy the gadget and deny access to the data therein.

The attempt equally failed as the operatives took possession of the broken phone and deposited it with the forensic unit for proper analysis of the recovered data.

Suspects arrested in the operation are Paul Afolabi, Balogun Ibrahim Adebayo, Izu Ibobo Chukwunalu, Abe Tolulope, Onifade Gidion Idowu, Komolafe Tosin and Igwe Kinsley Otuu.

Davido has reportedly un-followed Zlatan Ibile on Instagram after it was alleged that he never got involved in the release of the rapper from EFCC custody.

A check on the singer’s page indicated that he is no longer following Zlatan.

Although there are some reports that Davido never followed the rapper in the first place, but another check indicated that a photo of Zlatan uploaded on his page, has been deleted.

In the deleted post, Davido expressed utmost joy over the release of Zlatan Ibile from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

It is however alleged that he deleted the post following allegations by Zlatan Ibile’s friends that Davido distanced himself from Zlatan during the time of his arrest by EFCC.

Reports although have it that the pop star secured the service of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who helped in securing the bail of the rapper and Ramon Jago, but Naira Marley was left in custody of the anti-graft agency.

The popular Al Noor Mosque in Abuja has been described by a twitter user as a spot where most Abuja ladies visit to market themselves in the quest to get a spouse.

In his post, the man stated that the men that visit the Al Noor Mosque in Abuja, once in a year also know of the ladies’ plans and so they make it their agenda to at least hook up on some woman before they leave.

A 1st class student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN Chukwuemeka Akachi, has committed suicide after dropping a suicide note on Facebook.

The first class final year student of English and Literary studies had been been having a long battle with mental health.

His suicide note on Facebook reads:

Suicide Note.
Forgive me. In case you are the one who found the body, I am really sorry. It had to be someone, you know. I have chosen Jo Nketaih’s poem as my suicide note: “They said you came looking for me. I didn’t drown; I was the water.” Where do atheists go to when they die? lol. Amen.

Akachi died yesterday, after leaving a suicide note and revealing his long battle with mental health on Facebook.

In one of his previous posts on Facebook, he wrote on his battle with mental health and how it has affected his growth:

My mental health has been on life support for a while now. Thanks to those who call. Text. Visit. Speak to me. May we always remember. May we never forget. You may have added a few hours, months or days to my time here. But you know life support is expensive right? Thanks for trying. Amen.

According to one of his friends, Akachi consumed two bottles of a poisonous substance and it was the second time he would be attempting suicide in recent times.

A video of a thief caught on CCTV stealing big generator has surfaced on the internet.

In the video that was posted on social media, the unidentified man could be seen in a deserted compound, which appeared as if no one was home at that time.

He tried to browse around to ensure no one was looking while he made way towards the spot where the generator was placed.

He effortlessly opened the lock of the generator house and carried the relatively big generator into a sack he came with to the scene of the robbery.

According to the people analyzing the footage from the CCTV, the man is likely to be one of the scavengers that scavenge dunghills for scraps.

He tucked the generator into the sack and carried it easily on his back, despite the size of the Gen, as though he was lifting a bulk of scrap.

He would have stolen the generator without being noticed if not for the discreet CCTV camera.

In their reactions on social media, Nigerians decried the rate of insecurity in the country hope the man is caught soonest.

Bettie Jenifer’s killer was reportedly underrated by the family of the late wife of Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh, a family source has revealed.

According to a report received by Ghanacelebrities.com, the family said they never expected that the threatening messages could result in Jenifer’s gruesome murder.

The source added that Bettie Jenifer’s killer who sent the threatening messages was underrated, because the family and Jenifer herself did not see the urgency in seeking protection from security forces.

“What kind of a sick man follows a woman with bullets until he finally fatally knocks her down with one? Or what kind of person would sanction this nefarious act against another, especially a woman?

Chris Attoh’s wife, Bettie Jenifer, was shot in the head on Friday, May 10, 2019, around 5pm in Maryland, USA, where she worked.
Jenifer was said to have closed from work and was walking to her car in the Greenbelt parking lot when her killer approached her with a gun.

She then started running in an attempt to save her life, but her killer pursued her firing multiple shots, with one of them reaching her head. When officials got to the crime scene, Jenifer was already dead.

He specifically wrote on the best day to find a wife in church and it is not Sunday just as many people believe to be.
