Zinedine Zidane has announced that he is leaving Real Madrid less than a week after guiding them to an unprecedented third successive Champions League title. The club revealed on Thursday that Zidane was to appear in a hastily arranged news conference that caught many by surprise, fuelling speculation that his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu could be coming to an end. Zidane confirmed his departure at the start of the news briefing, just five days after he presided over the 3-1 Champions League final win over Liverpool . "I have decided not to be Real Madrid coach next season," said Zidane, who was joined by club president Florentino Perez. "I spoke to Florentino yesterday [Wednesday] to tell him my thoughts, my feelings. I know it's a strange moment for everyone involved, but I think it's the right decision. "I think this team needs to keep winning but I think after three years a change is needed, something different, a different message, different ways of going about things. "That's why I decided to take this decision. It's a club I love and I love the president too, he brought me to this huge club and I will always be grateful, but I think a change is needed so I will not be here next season." Even European success, which he also managed in each of his first two seasons in charge of the team, has not been enough to persuade him to prolong his spell. Madrid's third-place La Liga finish is likely the major factor in Zidane's departure, as Los Blancos ended the season 17 points adrift of bitter rivals and champions Barcelona. He did, however, confirm that he was not pushed out of the exit door. https://lailasnews.com/breaking-zinedine-zidane-resigns-as-real-madrid-manager/ lalasticlala

Presidential aspirant, Fela Durotoye, has released a 10-point agenda on what he plans to do to improve the condition of Nigeria if he is elected as president in the coming 2019 elections. The management consultant released the document on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, noting that it is a condensed version of his policies while disclosing that a detailed one will be released soon. In his 10-point plan, Durotoye noted that he'll focus on power, security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, business and industries and the economy. Others are enforcing the rule of law, creating jobs and reducing the cost of living in the areas of food, transport, housing, fuel and so on. Cost of living While expanding on his points, Durotoye promised that he will reduce inflation from double digit to single digit in order to ensure affordability of necessities, guaranteeing a minimum of 5% of gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate per annum in his first four years. He said he'll reduce the pump price of refined products by encouraging the licensing of modular refineries, as well as also diversify intracity transport options, launch 36 agricultural hubs across the country, and create a national affordable housing policy that enables the development of affordable housing. Power Durotoye also promised to deliver a minimum of 12,000MW to Nigeria within 4 years which he says will attract investors. He said his administration will achieve this by taking a multidimensional regional approach to power generation as well as prioritising the use of renewable energies for power generation while also partnering with the private sector in the area of increased funding for power projects across the federation. Security Durotoye assured Nigerians that he'll degrade, dismantle, and defeat terrorist group, Boko Haram, with human intelligence and return internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homes or reabsorb them into a reconstructed community and 'safe cities'. He further promised to address militancy across all geopolitical zones and put a complete end to activities of violent herdsmen and delist the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group to engage them in negotiations instead. He also noted that military intervention under his command will be in line with the proportionate use of force and adherance to the fundamental human rights provisions. The aspirant also promised to ensure that security forces are well-equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry and hinted at the creation of one Military Equipment Manufacturing Plant without providing details, for security reasons. Education Durotoye promised that his administration will increase the literacy rate by up to 90% in four years by making education compulsory and mandatory up to secondary school across the country. He noted that this will be achieved by increasing funding and partnership with the private sector and development partners, while ensuring that government expenditure on education is not less than 5% of GDP starting from the 2020 budget. He said his administration will work with states and local governments to ensure nationwide rehabilitation and equipping of all existing government schools at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, while also ensuring free education for primary and secondary students in public schools. Healthcare To improve healthcare in the country, Durotoye promised to ensure access to at least one working federal health care facility in each of the 774 local government areas in Nigeria while also significantly increasing funding for medical research and development across all federal universities, and university teaching hospitals. He also promised to increase government expenditure from 0.9% of GDP to a minimum of 5% of GDP, increase doctor to population ratio from 4:10,000 to 15:1000, and improve average life expectancy from 53 to 60 years. He promised that there will be mandatory universal health insurance for every Nigerian with emphasis on maternity care to eliminate maternal mortality by 2023. He also said his administration will create structured health alliances with specialists outside Nigeria (especially for cancer, HIV/AIDs, kidney-related problems, autism and cerebral palsy), as well as set up four regional healthcare cities to provide tertiary and specialist medical care and act as a medical tourism destination for the West African sub-region. Infrastructure In his policy statement, Durotoye promised to rehabilitate and construct inter-city roads across the country; provide support for the commencement of light rail metro-lines within all 36 states through public private partnerships to aid the easy movement of goods and services; as well as improve rural to urban transport systems by developing a pan-Nigeria rail system that works. He also promised infrastructure in place for at least one additional sea port while also promising a reform of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Business and Industries Durotoye promised that if he becomes president, he will double investors' confidence index from current 18pts to an all time high of 40pts within four years while also lowering the unemployment rate from 18% to an all time low of 5% with an improved foreign direct investment (FDI). To reduce banking interest rates, Durotoye said his administration will ensure a lower inflation rate with robust monetary policies and promote an industry development centric banking sector which will ensure that the banking industry is able to lend to businesses at single digit interest rate which would thereby enable households to grow outputs. According to him, his administration will improve the ease of doing business and make Nigeria the number one destination for investors in Africa by creating an enabling environment for locally-owned businesses and foreign investors to thrive and maximise profits. Economy Durotoye promised to diversify the economy by promoting non-oil sector growth through agriculture, mines and steel, manufacturing and the services industry by providing legal and fiscal incentives in these industries and sectors. He noted that this will be achieved by decentralising national resources to allow states generate more revenue at state level and attract investors. He said he'll promote an enabling environment for private sector led growth and adopt Public Private Partnerships (PPP's) for sustainable revenue generation. The leadership expert also promised that his administration will promote better tax compliance by reducing personal income tax (PIT) by a few points, and reducing the rate of company income tax (CIT) from 30% to 20%. Job creation Durotoye promised to reduce the unemployment rate in Nigeria by creating 12 million jobs in four years, 3 million for each year of his first term. He said these jobs will cut across education, health, economy, agriculture, amd the power sector. He said a national jobs database will also be created to make it easier for job owners and job seekers to connect with each other while also promising to establish vocational and technical skills acquisition training centers across each of the six geo-political zones. He also promised the implementation of a Start-Up Action Plan to support start-ups across the federation through a Start-Up Intervention Fund under the Bank of Industry (BOI). Law enforcement and judicial system In his final policy point, Durotoye promised to make Nigeria surpass Botswana as the least corrupt country in Africa during his four years in office. He said his administration will pursue and implement a comprehensive police reform that'll provide support for state and community policing and create a more motivated and professional police force via decent pay, trainings and tools. He also promised to support the creation of state judiciary councils in all of the federating units as well as the establishment of state courts of appeal to enable states appoint their own judges and have control over the payment of their judicial officers. To expedite court processes, he promised an automation of court systems to ensure zero tolerance for inefficiency. Durotoye concluded that to achieve a Nigeria that works properly, the country must evolve and rebuild with vision and values that'll create strong institutions. He'll contest for the presidency in next year's election on the platform of the Alliance for a New Nigeria (ANN). https://lailasnews.com/fela-durotoye-releases-his-10-point-agenda-as-nigerias-president/ lalasticlala

A man who was reportedly deported from overseas attacked his wife and her mother in Edo State and inflicted serious machete wounds on the duo. New findings have however revealed the real reason why the man identified as Iyen Igiebor, committed the cruel act in their community in Ikpoba Hill, Benin, Edo State. Igiebor was repatriated after an unsuccessful sojourn abroad and moved into his in-law’s residence, after failing to secure an accommodation of his own. It was gathered that an argument had ensued between the couple, following the alleged refusal of the wife to accompany him to a place where he claimed to have found an apartment for rent. The disagreement was said to have resulted in a separation between the two. It was, however, gathered that tragedy struck when Igiebor later attacked the wife with a machete while on her way from a market. The suspect had, allegedly, attempted to sever the head of his wife but left her with a deep cut in her arm. The mother-in-law also sustained a cut in the head and face. However, the cries of the women attracted the attention of some neighbours who came to their rescue. Igiebor has since been arrested by the operatives of the Aduwawa Police Station. https://lailasnews.com/why-deported-man-attacked-his-wife-and-in-law-in-edo-state/ lalasticlala

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh's ex husband Dr. Olakunle Churchill has responded to the allegation leveled against him by a lady identified as Zainab Rufai who claimed she was his ex-girlfriend and he dumped her after rendering assistance to him. Zainab in her allegation also claimed that Churchill cannot be trusted, saying he breaks properties and beats his ex wife, all in the name of aligning with #mustbringdownchurchillgang# to call him out and portray him as evil. However in his reaction to the story, Churchill stated that the allegation was just to seek attention and that he never had a close relationship with Zainab. He made this known in an chat with Vanguard by phone and claimed that he is not surprised that the lady did a good job in composing such story which obviously sounded believable especially with pictures to back it up. In his words: This is very funny to me and I must give her kudos for a well scripted write up to drag me out. I certainly know she has join forces with the #mustbringdownchurchillgang to portray me as evil before the public. In truth, Zainab was known to me at her young age and we shared some closeness but no engagement or marriage proposal of any sort” It’s unfortunate that public opinions have been swayed in her direction but I don’t want to give attention to her and all she had said as they were well cooked and garnished by the same source and group that have been blackmailing me. A wise man once said that not all relationship leads to marriage and some friends are for a reason, some for a season and some for a lifetime, Zainab who recently contacted me for financial assistant which I rendered to her, was one of those flying visitors in a man’s life” he added. The lingering marital crisis between Olakunle Churchill and his estranged wife, Tonto Dike has raised a lot of dusts and accusations which have involved extended parties. The Big Church Group Chairman believed that the call out from his friendship with Zainab was prompted by the conspiracy and a contract offer which was postponed. He however asked Zainab to desist from such allegations as it would never get her anywhere. https://lailasnews.com/you-cant-tarnish-my-image-churchill-responds-zainabs-allegation/

Late popular Nollywood actress Aisha Abimbola aka Omoge Campus was buried in Canada just some few days after her demise in the country and a candlelight procession was held in her honor on Wednesday 23rd May. In a recent chat with Saturday Beats the actress’ late husband, Mr. Ibrahim Okunola said that contrary to reports making rounds, he was still legally married to the deceased till her demise. Okunola said “It is a lie that we had divorced. We had not lived together for about seven years but we were still legally married till she died. The reason we were separated is a family issue. I would miss her till I die because she was a virtuous mother and a go-getter. I gave her the nickname, Magic Aisha because she had a way of achieving her dreams and goals. She was someone that would give you her shoulder to lean on and her listening ears no matter what you are going through. Even when she was not in my house again, if I had any issue in life, I always called her.” Also a thespian like his wife, Okunola said that it was his late wife’s wish not to alert the public about her battle with cancer. He said that his hands were tied as he had to respect her wish. Okunola described his wife as a fighter whom he believed would win the battle against cancer but sadly, she lost the fight. “The late Aisha was my wife and her death has made me very sad. I knew she had cancer but we did not see her death coming. I thought she was going to survive the battle against cancer because she was a fighter and she really fought cancer. Though most people did not know about her ailment, she gave cancer a good fight before she died. Omoge Campus did not tell people that she had cancer because she did not want people to pity her neither did she want to beg the public for money. Aisha was someone that respected my opinion and vice versa. Whenever she said something, I normally agreed with her. We discussed the issue of telling the public about her illness but she refused to open up to the public and I had to respect her opinion. “The last time I saw her was a week before she travelled out of the country and if I am correct that would be December 23, 2017. She wanted to travel with our children to America and she needed some documents so she asked me to come with the documents she needed because for about seven years, we had not been together but we were still legally married. We actually met in Femi Falana’s office for her to get the documents. After I had given her the required documents, I told her that she looked so lean, the next thing she did was to look at me and begin to weep. I had to comfort her and tell her that I would be with her in America the following year because I believed she was going to survive the illness being the fighter that she was. Sadly, she did not win the battle against cancer,” he said. Okunola further seized the opportunity to thank his late wife’s boss, Saidi Balogun, for being a strong pillar of support for the family in their time of mourning. “I am also very grateful for the support of The Golden Movies Ambassadors of Nigeria led by Saidi Balogun. They did not only hold a successful candle light and prayer session for my late wife in Nigeria but they stood by our family in our time of grief,” he said. https://lailasnews.com/omoge-campus-and-i-parted-for-7-years-we-never-divorced-husband/ lalasticlala

The commission said the relevant law enforcement agencies have been informed for necessary action. Meanwhile, the NUC Director of information and Public relation, Ibrahim Yakasai, in a telephone conversation, told newsmen that the commission has not relented in its effort to shut every illegal institution in the country According to Mr Yakasai, “we continued publishing the lists so that the illegal universities don’t resurface. If we stop publishing their names, they could move to other part of the country and start operating because at some point, they were moving. “We have been producing the editorial for so many years. We update it as we get information across the country that some institutions are operating illegally. We go there and once they know we are coming, they run away,” Mr Yakasai said. Recall how the NUC confirmed that a senator, Foster Ogola’s Phd certificate is invalid; as the institution he attended is among the illegal universities. An investigation revealed that the senator, currently representing Bayelsa West senatorial district, has fake credentials from an unaccredited university in Nigeria named GMF Christian university. This past Saturday was a day to remember across the world as Prince Harry and his bride Princess Meghan held their royal wedding in Windsor and it was an event that was on the lips of everyone across the world. Many Kenyans followed keenly the star-studded royal wedding that happened thousands of miles away. And some paid a fortune to catch every detail on a giant screen at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club on Saturday. Joseph and Lilian Muchemi were among the Kenyan guests who paid Sh1 million to witness the grand occasion on big screen. For the couple looking forward to their wedding, it was money well-spent. The couple enjoyed a four-course banquet on Saturday and flew with other couples the following day to Mount Kenya by helicopter for breakfast. "We are getting married soon and came here to get inspiration on wedding ideas. The event has been very enjoyable and the money was well worth it," they said. And they were not the only grand witnesses of the wedding taking place many miles away The guest list included the Standard Group acting CEO Orlando Lyomu together with his wife Pauline, Laikipia Woman Representative Kate Waruguru, Suzie Beauty founder Suzie Wokabi, Pinky Ghelani, socialite Vera Sidika, and actress Naomi Ng'ang'a. The guests enjoyed an English brunch, a romantic night for two inclusive of dinner, champagne at the Windsor suite and breakfast, as well as a meal prepared by English Chef James Dennis from Soames Hotel, Nanyuki. "This is different from any other event I have ever done, and of course there was a lot of pressure involved. I came up with the menu by incorporating my English background and doing some research here and there. The meal was mostly a labour of love for me,"said Dennis. The event, a red carpet affair, was hosted by Chero of Str8up and Micheal Gitonga of Morning Express, and was aired live on KTN. Fashion played a big role, with guests showing up dressed to impress. The ladies had beautiful sun and cocktail dresses, while the gentlemen were decked out in the latest suits. Photographers captured every moment while waiters had their hands on deck by making sure guests had the very best of champagne. The day also gave allowance for networking. https://lailasnews.com/so-kenyans-paid-n3-5-million-to-watch-the-royal-wedding-at-hotel/ lalasticlala

A Kuwaiti TV presenter was suspended and will soon be investigated because she called her colleague handsome live on air. The TV host made the comment during Kuwait Television's live coverage of the country's municipal elections which took place over the past weekend. A video capturing the incident shows the presenter trying to alert her colleague, Nawaf Al Sharraki, that he was on air after she spotted him adjusting a traditional head garment. "Nawaf, you don't need to adjust your head garment, you're handsome as it is," she is heard saying. The statement has since gone viral on Kuwaiti social media and has even reached the country's government, who called for action against the presenter. According to Al Qabas newspaper, the presenter's comment sparked outrage among some of the country's top officials. It even led Kuwaiti parliamentarian, Mohammad Al Hayef، to send out a public tweet to Mohammad Al Jaberi, the Gulf state's Minister of Information, asking him to take action against the TV host. Speaking to the local newspaper, a source from the Ministry of Information said the woman's suspension is temporary and will not be finalized until she is investigated over the incident. The source also explained the ministry's perspective on the matter, saying that many within the governmental institution believe the presenter unintentionally misspoke. Several people argued that a political news show should be formal, and not contain personal jokes between presenters. However, others were outraged that the government seemed to go into overdrive over a harmless joke. 'Leave housing problems, leave problems of corruption, leave problems of waste of public money, leave health problems, leave problems of education, leave the concerns of citizens that have been destroyed by the loans and high prices and the greed of traders - and go to cut the livelihood of a Kuwaiti announcer who said to her colleague "you are handsome"!,'one Twitter user wrote. https://lailasnews.com/tv-presenter-suspended-for-calling-colleague-handsome-on-air/ lalasticlala
