Beaf:
How many states have accessed the UBE funds?
The reason those states are not accepting the funds is because there are stringent standards and an accountability trail attached. States avoid it so they can build juju shrines and claim to have built real schools; Ogun has N2.2 billion in UBE funds waiting to be collected, yet that voodoo school exists.
The UBE programme was poorly conceptualise.

I am so sure you will disagree with the above, if only you will take time to understand the UBE thingy and its ambush. As of now, over 36 billion naira lying dormant in cbn.

Beaf:
One important correction to your analysis; the national cake is not used to build secondery schools (except they are Unity schools).
The delivery of education and provision of schools is the responsibilty Ogun state, so it carries the blame. The most that can be done to involve the FG, is ask why standards where allowed to drop without question. That is a relevant question that needs asking; whatever happened to school inspectors and similar standards institutions? Ogun state can also be accused of the same failure if the school is owned by an LG.
I thought the school in question is a primary school? isn't it? Do you know of UBE?

If the national cake is not used to build secondary schools, what is then used? Foreign grants?

My guy, I have never ever seen a school that even looks remotely like that and I don waka.
There are many of such, have been involve in monitoring and evaluation works, may be your waka was in urban areas.

Are you telling me you have not seen under the tree classrooms? if truly you don waka.

Sometimes, it is amazing when horrid pictures of reality are posted, and people make waoh noise.

Could it be they forget they stole great chunk of the "national cake" that could have been used to make positive changes.
EducationRe: The Worst Primary School On Earth Is In Ogun - SaharaReporters by emiye(m): 12:33am On Oct 27, 2011
I can bet with a million naira that the school environment is better than at least 30% of all government primary schools in Nigeria.

If you dont agree with the above, you are simply an ignoramus , and disconnected with the realities on ground,  just because you can send your child to a creche, where you pay 350k per term, doesn't mean you should not realise what is going on in the country.

It is the same kind of disconnect that causes those at the top want to remove fuel subsidy, just because it is good on paper.

The rot in the country goes beyond tribal differences, i have seen far worse schools.

PoliticsRe: Who Is The Worst State Governor Ever In Human History? by emiye(m): 11:28pm On Oct 24, 2011
By October 26, 2011, Aregbesola would have spent 11 MONTHS in the saddle as governor, yet has created 20,000 jobs. I guess those criticising him are clearly DUMB, can not think and analyse for themselves (there opinions are beaf's opinion).   Osun state does not have oil money to spend, Delta does.

It is okay if you are paid spin doctor, like beaf, but it is really disheartening if what you lack is critical reasoning to identify spins.

Point taken.

And if tuition is raised for all, then perhaps this threshold for LASU can be reduced from 4.0/5 to 3.5/5. Who knows? A lot more merit scholarship money is available if you do cost-reflective tuition.
"Maybe", you are right on that, and raising of the tuition must be gradual. I am almost certain the current fee will be reviewed downwards. The hike in tuition must be less than 100% .
PoliticsRe: Protesting Lasu Students Barricade Lagos-badagry Expressway! by emiye(m): 1:36am On Oct 23, 2011
@ ekt bear  .
While i share a great chunk of your arguments, i disagree with the statement a simple 4 out of 5.
though i perfectly understand why you call it simple.

In virtually all govt. Universities in Nigeria, making 4 out of 5 can be compared to making over 3.8 out of 4 in uk, us schools.
That is why i can almost bet that if you can honestly make a 3.0/ 5.0 in Nigeria, you will make easily 3.0/4.0 in uk,us schools.

Hope you get the comparism, The average Nigerian govt University lecturers takes pride in how many students failed his/her course in the last "100" academic sessions
PoliticsRe: Gej's Golden Silence On Gadaffi's Death by emiye(m): 10:48pm On Oct 22, 2011
I thought gaddafi was the chairman of the African union from Feb 2009 - jan 2010, and Nigeria a "big" brother of Africa.
Thus, Nigeria's head of state (Goodluck Jonathan) statement is highly soughted for, and important.

That is the reason it has always been a failure as for GEJ to resurrect it, its gonna still fail
Does it occur to you that industrialisation and steel availability goes hand in hand. Before you export what you have, you must have met your local needs.

Though the minister's statement must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Term limits is the way forward, IMO, not more than two terms as the head of government.

No God's creature is exempted from the boldened phrase above, the number of years for "after a while" will just vary.

@ OP. i want to believe majority of the 13 states in the east and west of the North offer free education to pry. and sech school students. You need to crosscheck your assertion. I know of some states that go as far as paying students allowances as incentives for them to come to school.

The Problem lies in the socio-cultural beliefs. They tend to place lots of premium on quranic education to the western education, not until their is a change in orientation as regards these beliefs, much progress wont be made. The same fallacy in belief applies to the Almajiri system.

Drop it already, is the NFF that's suppose to let Siasia know that? is Siasia not a coach? stop giving excuses for his failure.

I asked you a question but you have refused to respond. here's it again: Put yourself in a reasonable man's shoe, what would you do if your worker you employed to manufacture and also sell your products at 50% profit reward ends up not even able to manufacture, not to talk of selling your products? what would you do to such a worker? promote him or increase his salary?
.

Your illustration might not really apply, but anyways i believe you can not promote such a worker in that context, but you might not sack him. I work in a manufacturing firm. Machines do breakdown, and produce lots of scrap, while you try to run it, and you fail to meet your customers demand even when you have previously observed the maintenance schedule, The Manager will assess the situation critically, checking the rootcause of the problem, the antecedents of the operator e.t.c at the .Only a bad manager without conducting this analysis will heap failure to produce at that scenario solely on the machine operator.

If all you do as a manager is sacking your operator and replacing the operator, anytime the machine breaksdown. You are in for a big trouble at the long run ( i have seen this happen in real life production floor)

The Machine is the SE Players, Operator is the Coach, Manager is NFF

Ossai famous:
@emiye u mean 3rd chance , don't forget that he lost a world cup match to a 10man german team in that world cup, the excuse was that it was an inherited team,
We must all learn the content of "DELAYED GRATIFICATION" , inside of it is pain and failures, but a long term approach to victory.

Siasia has never been this shaken to his roots, i opined he has learnt his lessons. What is the point of going to the nations cup to reach the quarter finals or semi ? (2002-2010). Even Westerhof that won the nations cup in 1994 and secured a world cup ticket, had also failed previously.

Notable failure of westerhof (failure to qualify for italian 1990 world cup (was fighting with some players then too) ) (average performance at the 92, nations cup) at the 90 nations cup, we lost the opening game 5-1 to Algeria, but later made it to the final of the tournament.

Crux of the matter is allow him stay, any new guy will start his own "mumbo jumbo" which might be worse than what we have seen from siasia.
SportsRe: NFF Decides Siasia’s Fate On Thursday by emiye(m): 2:09am On Oct 14, 2011
We all deserve a second chance.

Siasia deserves a second chance.

If he had won the game 2-1, these sack or no sack will not feature.

I repose absolute confidence in him, it is unfortunate that most nigerians are dangerously too emotional.

For any small achievement, they overpraise, any small mistake, they ask for your head. I remembered when we beat ethiopia 4-0, to many Nigerians he was the best coach Nigeria has ever produced since the "18th century".

These decision making trait in most Nigerians is one of the reasons, we are where we are in this country. It features in our voting pattern for electing our leaders. It takes critical reasoning to know that sia1 should not be sacked.

I hope NFF will not make the mistake of sacking the guy.

I strongly perceive that Siasia will take the super eagles team to the promise land we crave for. .If he doesnt lose his job, i am surely going to point out the bolded in the next 16 months(at most)
PoliticsRe: Why Did Awo Lose The 1979 Election? by emiye(m): 9:41pm On Oct 13, 2011
danjohn:
Nigeria is a very complex country and it is easier for a candidate with no record and no strong antecedents to win.  As long as you have the support of the rich power brokers you will win.  When you are a blank slate you have better control of your narrative.  When people do not have a prior strong opinion of you, it is easier to make them form their opinion of you based on what your campaign tells them.  It is easier to make a good first impression than it is to change an established negative opinion.  In a way people with Presidential ambitions may need to lay low and stay out of the spot light but keep themselves connected to the power brokers so that when there is an opening their names will land on the shortlist.
I completely concur with your assertions!
