Has anyone been able to get a date for passport submission? I tried booking appointment online but there are no available dates in June and July. Please, how can I submit the passport if we can't get available dates online?

Use courier service, you don’t need appointment date for that.

I will like to give you a background of the situation.

My younger brother who lives in the US was the one who sponsored my Sister for her masters program in Canada.

This application for a visit visa that was submitted to IRCC is a family Group visa and the applicant included are my mom and myself.

My younger brother in the United States is the sponsor of this trip.


Documents My younger brother submitted are :
His Bank of America personal bank statement : 489k USD balance

6 months of bank statement

Reference letter from Bank of America showing 12 months transaction and average monthly balance

Letter of sponsorship (signed affidavit)

US passport data page

8 months paystubs.


For myself, since my brother is sponsoring the trip

I submitted the following

Employment letter from work (a school in the United States)

My marriage certificate

My kids birth certificate

Document of landed property (inherited from my dad)

Family picture of my mom , brother , sister and I

CAC certificate

Now , just now we received an update and my mom got a BVL.

For my own application, I got a BVL and Refusal letter.

The generic letter is

Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).

My monthly transaction is about 500k Naira per month and after paying bills what’s left is nothing.

How can I tackle this refusal and reapply?

My brother in the US is suggesting sending 5 million Naira to one of my accounts and then i transfer it from
that account to my primary account.

Or please how do I go about this?

The graduation is in August and this will avail all us to come together as a family.

As an adult even thou you’re bn sponsored. You’re still expected to have a good financial record, that’s show are doing well in your home country n it proves good home tie. The only issue I sense here is you didn’t include you own bank statement, the VO isn’t convinced you’re doing well in your home country n likely want to Japa.

You can follow your uncle’s advice but make sure the deposit isn’t at once, if it’s lump sum the VO will know it’s just for visa demonstration.

To those planning to submit der application. The official rate is now 1CAD = 485.01 NGN. Factor this when calculating your pof.

I submitted my passport to Abuja since the 19th of May and till now I have not received it. After sending series of emails to vfs and chatting with several agents, finally I received a message on Wednesday that it has been couriered. Today I chatted with them to request the AWB number and they told me they don't have the number.

My question is that, is it possible for them to have couriered it and not have tracking number or did they lie that it has been couriered when it hasn't been

I'm tired o because I'm traveling next week and I won't be home for them to make the delivery anytime next week.

What can I do?

They didn’t send me tracking number, I had to chat them to get my tracking number. They’re not serious o, after charging that high, they can’t still give necessary update. When did they tell you it was couriered? You can count 3 business days for UPS to deliver, if it has pass maybe you should try to go or send someone there (vfs).

All are valid depending on your purpose of travel. What’s more important is how you prove home tie, POF and good sop.

2 weeks ago I sent my passport to Abuja though I did bio-metric in Lagos but I paid for passport transmission + sms fee. I didn't receive any sms till date just email. My status already change on cic.gc portal to approved I got 8 years.

But I don't know the location of my passport either Lagos or Abuja. This is the last email I received from VFS on Tuesday.

Please how do I know the location of my passport. Someone please respond. Thank you in advance.

You just have to wait, nobody can tell if it will take long or not. Just dy send reminders n hope you get response soon. If unfortunately you miss the conference, once you’ve your visa look for another conference to attend.

If she didn't previously, let her attach one in the new application that is after her visa has been stamped please, else they might hold the passport for as long as they wish or even return it back without visa, it has happened before so that's not new.

I guess na chinook suggest the application for refusal n VO ddnt bother to check. From the note it’s obvious no reason for that silly decision. If parent can pass all the requirements, wat are they expecting from a 4yrs old. The refusal na human error.

I have attached the CBSA note , it's just the same thing statement in the Generic refusal.

I don’t think VO dd any work here, just go disapprove application for no reason based on chinook suggestion. If der was a reasonable reason it will be well explained. Child rarely get refusal if parents application is approved. Let her just reapply, it will end in praise.

Can she just reapply when she get her passport back or she does not need to wait for the passport.

your advise will be appreciated on what she need to do right.

VO no get chills o. Let her wait until her passport is stamped, then reapply for him. She should attach her stamped passport n explain she can’t travel without her child. If her pof isn’t enough for two, let her increase it. Once parents gets approval, child’s application shouldn’t be an issue at all.

If she can wait for note before reapplying, let her order cbsa note.

Switching vv to close work permit isn’t easy but possible. You’ve to get LMIA job, most employers won’t want to go tru that stress when they’ve enough options. If you want to try that route make your plans, it’s possible but not as easy as ppl portray it. If you’ve the funds, study route a good option.

Please a Collegue of mine applied for Canada Visit Visa with her 4 year Old, She was approved the visit visa and she as seen her Visa details on the tracker but the son was denied , please what the best advise for someone in this situation and the reason for the refusal are stated below

This is strange. Did she use a separate account for her son? Also what’s her purpose of traveling?

What if u applied for conference and ur visa came out days after conference has ended, can one use such visa for tourism? wont the y verify at the port of entry if u told them you here for tourism when ur reason for application was conference?

You can use your visit visa for any visit purpose. Have enough funds and necessary requirements for your trip.

Canada give all visa. Study route is the best if you don’t qualify for PR. If you want study route information, check the Canada study visa thread. Check my previous replies, I just explained steps for visit visa.

You can use the same account but the money can’t be lesser. It has to increase, you’ve to factor you n baby’s welfare. For you 5k cad , baby 3k cad. That should be fine.

I think I have lump sum, which are from sales of properties, but I didn't explained them in my previous application. The business I'm running is construction which is my late dad biz, me just dey run am small small, de cac of the biz still dey, it is inactive, and I have properties of my own like few buildings, 1 land and sold 2 plots which I put d money for my acct, but I didn't upload any pics of property, only 2 lands agreement that I uploaded. Do u think the inactive cac could be a prob? Though I have like 2 more docs related to the business.

CAC inactive didn’t cause it but unexplained lump sum. The VO felt the funds was just demonstration for visa application n it won’t be accessible to you.

Lump sum isn’t an issue, it becomes issue when you don’t explain how you got the money. U claim the money was from sale of property, submit all the paperwork to back it up, explain clearly in your SOP you’ll be fine.

Canada doesn’t conduct visa interview, you won’t be der to explain any irregularities when VO is working on your file. it’s better to explain n make your application very clear, don’t leave any space for VO to doubt anything.

They can refuse your visa if your company is inactive… it happened to most of my friends.. they all got refused.. So try to pay your taxes so it can be active..

I don’t think that was the cause, unless they ordered gcsm note and VO stated that was the reason. I’ve seen many people with inactive cac get approval. Der are many ways to even proof business without cac.

I'm preparing to resubmit my study permit, I didn't upload my cac cert in my previous application, due to the fact that it is inactive do you think it might fly if I include it in new application. I dull myself in my first application I no too upload much doc and didn't explain huge deposits on my acct. Me wey get 17m available though I didn't explain how I made the in my SOP. And never uploaded much of work papers. Pls advise what more I can do to prepare a better application. You already know wer the problem is n how to tackle it. You’ve the required fund, just try to explain how to made it. Any supporting document you’ve include it, cac, sales invoice, chat with customers, business social media page, if you’ve an office include the rent agreement, pictures etc. Also hope there’s no lump sum, that can make VO think funds is for demonstration.

If you’ve ordered your gscm note, i will advise you wait to see the VO’s comment on the refusal.

The msg will be based on your purpose on visit. You can state the delay is affecting your plan, you need a decision. Try to make it emotional as well.

Thats evidence they’ve received your parcel and transmission fee confirmed. Dey don’t send evidence for courier, if you’ve not filled the courier form they will send it to you once it’s time, if you’ve filled it they will send you a msg once UPS picks it for delivery.

If you’re going with the whole family, you’ve to be able to prove strong home tie, solid pof and good sop.

Home tie: Job, business, properties, investment, relatives & extended families.

POF: This will depend on your purpose of visit. Make sure you’ve enough, they want to be sure you’re not spending all your money on the trip. I will advise you’ve X3 of your trip budget as pof.

SOP: Since there’s no visa interview, this is an opportunity to tell the VO why your application should be approved. Talk about why you’re going to Canada, purpose of your trip, if it’s for tourism list all the itineraries you’ve in plan.

Submit any document you feel will proof all the points. Also use the new portal for your application. Success!

Just apply n hope for ppr. The good thing is even if you miss the conference you can still use the visa for another conference or tourism.

Only health is priority, they’ve added family reunification too. That doesn’t guarantee anything too sha. What stage is your application in?

Conference isn’t a priority, they won’t expedite the process. You can send mails n Webform as remainder. Missing the conference doesn’t affect application decision, you can go for another conference after approval.
