So apparently, this tree somewhere in Agbor, Delta state is where witches and wizards hold their meetings ...according to the people in the community, so they got a caterpillar to bring down the tree....which ultimately 'refused' to go down/get uprooted. In the video, you can hear the superstitious fellows shouting when the tree goes down and bounces back up. The tree apparently has strong roots and buried deep down but they are convinced its the witches and wizards that don't want the tree down. See the video after the cut...

One Linda Ikeji used her blog to promote this falsehood When a refutal was sent to her, she refused to publish it because invariably it would call to question the credibility of her medium which enjoys considerable following because it is one of those mills whose offering is consumed by the gullible public. In a craze to stay popular on the web and maintain a huge following, bloggers like this often do not bother to ascertain the veracity of stories before publishing. They get away with this professional misconduct because they are not bound by any ethical standard; all they care about is money made from inflicting untold injuries on the integrity of credible citizens. This is the down side of the social media.

But ultimately, purveyors of falsehood do not last because conscience is an open wound that only truth can heal. You may fool the people some of the time but you cannot fool them all the time.

One day monkey will go to the market and will not return, is a local adage. That should be the consolation for victims of the social media mob like Okotie and others who are suffering in silence .The days of the jackals are surely numbered.

Funke Akindele threatened to sue Linda Ikeji if she didn’t delete a story she posted about her under 24 hours in 2015.

In the post, Ms. Ikeji suggested that an Instagram picture on Ms. Akindele’s page was intended as a slight on fellow actress, Ms. Aimakhu, who was at that time rumored to have separated from her husband, Adeniyi Johnson.

According to Ms. Ikeji, the two actresses had previously fallen out and Ms. Aimakhu had “shaded” Ms. Akindele over the latter’s 2014 divorce.

Ms Akindele, through her management, said thanks to Ms. Ikeji’s blog post, she was exposed to “cynical comments and hasty judgements”.

“(The post has portrayed) Funke Akindele ’s brand in bad light,” her management said. “It has promoted unhealthy rivalry where there is none.”

Just before he left Delta on Sunday, a day after burying his mother in a modest “Made in Nigeria” ceremony in Agbor, CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele paid spontaneous visits to a couple of motherless babies and charity homes in Delta where he donated all the gifts he received from friends and well wishers.


According to the UnofficialCBN social media handles (Twitter: @UnofficialCBN | Facebook: Unofficial: Central Bank of Nigeria | Instagram: UnofficialCBN), each of the homes received a pick up van filled with assorted foods and gifts including bags of rice, vegetable oil, milk, drinks, beans, onions, garri, spaghetti, cooking condiments and chickens. He also donated a cow each to the homes.

All through her adult life in her small Agbor community, the deceased Alice Emefiele, 94, endeared herself to her people by constantly giving and supporting the less privileged. In her honour, the family has launched the Alice Emefiele Foundation to continue her good work.

Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, says the Federal Government will hunt down the killers of the NYSC member, Samuel Okonta, who was killed during the rerun election in Rivers state last Saturday. Dalung said this while paying a condolence visit to the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi yesterday March 23rd.

He berated politicians for always engaging in politics with bitterness.

“Politicians aspire to hold public office because they want to develop Nigeria. In doing this, they are talking of protecting the lives of Nigerians. So it is very bad that we cannot conduct an ordinary election without conflict. In the bid to protect our interests, innocent people will lose their lives. Inegite Jonathan, the 72 year old uncle of former President Jonathan, who was abducted at his residence in Otuoke, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa on February 17th, regained his freedom yesterday March 22nd. ‎Pa Jonathan was kidnapped at his residence in Otuoke, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa alongside his 35-year-old relative, Samuel Oki, who was later killed by the abductors.‎

Pa Jonathan was kidnapped in February 28th 2014 in his house and was freed by security agents, at Akipli Community in Ogbia on March 10, 2014.

A journalism student has been reportedly failed by the school's management for exposing singer, Korede Bello's absence from school activities.








It can be recalled that some fews ago, popular singer, Korede Bello, was accused by his lecturers at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) in Ogba, Lagos of missing his lectures, and even threatened to resign if the Mavin records artiste took semester exams.

Bello later apologised during a meeting with the school’s management.

In an exclusive report by BlackBox Nigeria, a student of the Institute, Damilare Famuyiwa, has allegedly been failed in the school's recent examination for daring to leak a story incriminating the singer.

It was learnt that his offence was, attempting to report the absence from school of the singer and a possible missing out of the recently held examinations of the institute in accordance with the school’s 70% class attedance rule.

The student, Damilare who is also a blogger was reportedly marked down by the school's management over what it deemed an 'unfavourable report'.

The big shocker came when the school results were posted on March 11th and Damilare was being handed carry-overs (failed) in two courses while he also got low marks in others.

According to sources, the victim had earlier been threatened by the management to face a hard time in passing out of the school which was founded by former Lagos Governor, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.

While nobody is above failure, students say this is surprising because the alleged victimised student was one of the most brilliant in his class, while Korede Bello who rarely attended lectures or participated in the Continous Assessment passed all his courses glowingly.

It was gathered the victim is set to call for his scripts and challenge the results as allowed by regulations guiding the school.

APC in Rivers state has called for the outright cancellation of last Saturday's rerun election for National and State Assembly members, saying the election was marred by high incidents of violence and thuggery. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, the state party chairman, Davies Ikanya, accused the police of conniving with PDP members in the state to rig the election.

The party Chairman maintained that there was an attempt to assassinate the governorship candidate of his party, Dakuku Peterside at UTC junction on Azikiwe road in Port Harcourt‎ on Sunday March 20th.

He alleged that the Chief of Staff, Government House, Emeka Woke and his team opened fire on the vehicle himself and Dakuku were riding in, with alleged intention to assassinate them. According to him, the Chief of Staff to Governor Wike and his team trailed their vehicle to UTC , opening fire on them.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has said President Mohammadu Buhari must be held accountable for the violence and loss of lives in Rivers State rerun elections, saying; “Members of Buhari’s party, APC, are emboldened to unleash violence on the people of Rivers State and other States in Nigeria because they know that the president won’t lift a finger provided his party members are the ones perpetrating evil.”

The governor said “those who called the Ekiti State governorship election in which soldiers and other security agents made sure that that there was no violence, no live was lost during and after the election and no ballot was snatched EkitiGate should be asked what the Rivers election in which eight people were killed and several others injured will be called.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said President Buhari’s way was to protect his party people, and his Hausa/Fulani tribe, hence their boldness to perpetrate evil.

The governor maintained that President Buhari’s culpability in the killings in Rivers State and the manner Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has destroyed the legacy of free, fair and transparent elections bequeathed on Nigeria by the PDP government former President Goodluck Jonathan was not in doubt.

He said; “Can President Buhari fold his arms if the people being killed are from Daura in Katsina State? Is it that any soul that is not a Fulani is not important to the President?” The governor, who challenged the Military authority to probe the roles of soldiers in the Rivers State election, added that; “If they could probe soldiers who participated in the Ekiti State governorship election despite their commendation by the international community for providing a safe environment free of major incidents, one wonders what they are going to do in the case of Rivers State in which peoples were allegedly killed by soldiers.

“What are they going to call Rivers election since they called that of Ekiti State EkitiGate? Are they going to call Rivers election in which several people were shot dead allegedly by security agents, election inconclusive, fake Results Sheets produced by INECRiversBuhariAmaechiGate?”

While calling for the immediate sack of INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the governor said Nigerians must ask questions as to how INEC produced Results Sheets of over 230 polling units with PDP omitted.

He said if nothing was done to INEC as presently constituted, 2019 will spell doom for the country’s democracy, adding that “If 2019 elections will not be messed up and be made inconclusive, lovers of democracy in the country must not keep silent on the mess our elections have become under Professor Yakubu.”

President of Dangote Group and Africa’s richest man, is sending about 800 Nigerians to India, to learn the operations of a petrochemical refinery.

A source in the multi-billion naira company, Dangote Group, has exclusively confirmed to TheCable on Friday that billionaire business mogul and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is sending about 800 Nigerians to India, to learn the operations of a petrochemical refinery, adding that the first batch to be trained will leave for India on Sunday, March 20, 2016.

It was learnt that the 800 Nigerians will travel to the Asian country over the next 24 months in a batch of fifties, to learn from the nation with the largest refinery in the world.

India is home to the world’s largest refinery, Jamnagar Refinery Reliance Industries, Jamnagar, which refines as much as 1.2 million barrels per day.

“About 800 will be trained in batches within 24 months. The first batch of 50 is leaving for India on Sunday,” the source said.

Dangote is looking to creating employment within the Nigerian economy, rather than importing expatriates to run the first private refinery in Nigeria.

The refinery, projected to worth $9 billion, is being built to have a refining capacity of about 500,000 to 650,000 barrels per day.

“After receiving a private licence to build a refinery, Dangote has commenced the building of a 650,000 barrel per day (BPD) petroleum refinery, which will be the single largest in the world.

“The refinery would have a larger capacity than all of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) refineries put together,” the conglomerate said in a statement more than a year ago.

Dangote, who hosted Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), at the site of the refinery in January, assured Nigerians that the refinery would be ready to meet the nation’s need by 2018.
