The market has never behaved differently rather it's the investors/traders.
Market has just two movement up or down anytime you come in or leaving you always meet or leave it in one of the positions
So no surprise to what is happening today. It 's normal.

Please between FBNquest and investmentone which one is better in terms of customer service, interest rate etc. I want to open one of the above because I no longer understand Stabicibtc fund managers. I know treasury bill rate is almost none existence but how can they keep crediting my account with less and less interest no matter how much I top up? The daily interest is approximately 1.7% sad Please has anyone else noticed this?
All mmfs irrespective of the fund managers will always continue to have a less and less rate regime; as you noted Tbills is down so don't expect any mmf rate to move up. You can come over to Investment one for the unique product VGIF at the moment with 7.5% guaranteed rate it's a good alternative to mmf or Tbills.

IS THERE ANY ONE HERE who in recent past subscibed to tbills @ this rediculous rate..............

please share your reasons fo4 subscibing
At the moment this could be reasons why we still have subscribers:

1. An institutional investor that is by policy forced to do so.
2. Having safety of funds as topmost priority
3. A very risk averse investor ie the risk tolerance is very low
4. Very large amount is involved that even less than 1% is huge provided the capital is safe
5. Ignorance ie not aware of any other profitable and safe investment window.
There could be more reasons depending on the investor involved.

As always VGIF at 7.5% remains a very good alternative to Tbills at the moment.

the UBN shares I bought yesterday has generated over 8% return within 24hrs.. experts in the house, what's the rationale behind why people buy bonds and treasury bill when the right stock at the right time can generate greater ROI?
It's majorly because of RISK TOLERANCE of the people/investors concerned there could be other factors though.

Fellow nairalanders!

Extensive search brought me this far.
However, the more I read the more I became confused.

All I seek is simple guide to mutual fund investments. Which one works? Which to stay clear of? Which bank is tested, best rated and approved by you guys? Zenith or GTB?

Please, clear my confusion. I just want to start investing. Yet I want what's best and texted.

I bought ₦43,000 worth of share in WEMA in 2007 till today I heard nothing. Omega bank also disappeared with my ₦₦₦₦₦₦ first ever public offer share i bought into. I mean I have had bitter experience of this thing. Yet I am not giving up looking to get it right.

Show me the best. The trusted. The reliable and trustworthy high yielding bond/share investment.

Thanks
Once you have a clear objective ie reason for wanting to invest and how long you are investing for and knowing your risk tolerance level then you can make some informed decision as to the type of investment you will go into at a particular time.

For mutual fund I will recommend VGIF it's with Gurranteed capital and interest. Currently rate is 7.5%

For stocks there is nothing like best stocks what is best to a particular investor may be worst for another at a particular time. The truth is that there are many factors to consider and couple with your objectives before picking a particular stock to invest in.

To guide you through mutual fund and stocks investment come onboard with us at investment one.

Hello everyone, great job y'all are doing here. Pls can someone kindly explain this stock business to me? I've been reading from page 6000 and I can only infer that it's buying and selling. Is it all to it?
How do one know when to buy?
How are the purchases done?
I know that experience will teach me which shares to buy or not buy, but kindly educate a lay man like me that is new to all this. Thanks alot
Stock investment is a marathon not a sprint. With those questions you put up there, you have not read enough. Read earlier pages and other materials to get the basics. Don't rush the market is always there anytime you are equip enough you can start and keep learning while at it. That you are not there now doesn't mean everyone there will make more money than you. Investment in stocks is all about your objectives and sticking to a strategy that works for you.

There is what we called first principle in calculus it works also in stocks. Go to first principle no short cuts.

How do I start trading stock, still a novice.
Thanks
First thing first - invest in yourself by reading on how investment in stocks works. You can read stuffs here, https://www.nairaland.com/1131485/nigerian-stock-exchange-market-pick/5523 and other pages on stock thread, read materials from sites like nairametrics.com, ask questions, even listening to economic news can add to your knowledge.

N.B: If your risk tolerance is low I will advice you start with low risk investment options like mutual funds particularly VGIF from there you can begin to build your confidence.

While doing the reading and equipping yourself, you need to open a stockbroking account and have a cscs account. You can do that by clicking the link on my signature to have a stock account or any form of investment account with Investment One.

@emmasoft what do you have to say about investment one's VDF? I have VGIF but would like to add some dollar investment.

Suggestions are welcome from anyone who has a dollar investment portfolio with any of the investment firms. Thanks.
VANTAGE DOLLAR FUND:

The fund is an Open-ended Fixed Income Dollar Fund and will invest in Nigerian Originated Dollar Denominated assets (Sovereign and Corporates). The fund seeks to provide investors with a bias for dollar-denominated securities access to such securities, which ordinarily would be inaccessible to them by virtue of the minimum amount typically required to make such investments.

Key Features

Open-ended unit trust scheme which is duly authorized registered in Nigeria
The minimum investment amount is US$500.00 with additional investments in multiples of US$1.00. The Fund Manager however reserves the right to review these amounts as the need arises.
Redemption will be paid within 5 Business Days after the relevant documents have been submitted to the Fund Manager.
Every unit holder shall be entitled to receive from the Fund Manager an Electronic Certificate for the number of units purchased by such unitholder. The Electronic Certificate shall be conclusive evidence of the number of units held.
The minimum holding period in the fund shall be 180 days. However, the Fund Manager is aware that investors might have a need for their monies within the minimum holding period and as such would allow redemption during the minimum holding period subject to a 15% charge on the positive total return on the units being redeemed on the day of redemption.

Good fundamental and dividend paying stocks is also not a bad idea at this period of low rate regime. Some stocks can give dividend yield of up to 14% apart from possible price appreciation.

Look Well Before You Leap

At this uncertain time let’s beware of schemes that may want to take advantage of the low rate regime of Tbills to swindle us of our hard-earned money.
One major consideration in choosing any investment window at this time should be SAFETY of your capital/fund not the RATE.
It’s usually at a time like this when rates are low in the regular investment windows you begin to see some folks coming with unusual and juicy rates. Beware!

Here are some tips/questions to ask:

Is the investment firm regulated in anyway? ie regulated by SEC or CBN or any government constituted authority even if they are you can take your due diligence further to know preferably from SEC if they are aware of the said product.

What are the underlying assets?

How long has the firm be in business, what are their background and affiliates. It will not be a bad idea to know about their management and board members. A board member of questionable character or integrity may be a wrong signal no matter what they claim.

Is the rate being offer agreeing with economic realities

Is the rate per annum or otherwise? N.B: In all cases regulated rates are per annum even when having shorter tenors anything otherwise request explanation.

The list is not exhaustive you can go further as much as it will help you make informed investment decision and take calculated risk.

Currently at Investment One there are products you can try out apart from VGIF
1. High yield Investment note
2. Medium term investment note
3. Real estate backed note

In each of the products the minimum initial capital is 10m except the medium-term investment note which is 5m.
As usual call/chat me for details 08181057319 you can also PM or give me your email and details will be sent to you.

I wisj there is away to scatter this market. D country is on fire and all some people is thinking is money!! Y not shut down trading
Even during war some businesses still go on.
Leave market alone. That the market is on is not insensitive to reality rather that is how the system works infact the market is already reacting to the reality in the society. If any situation that warrant the market to be closed happens for sure it will close it's rare though.

For now just watch and if you can take risk, use the opportunity of the bear that may appear now due to the unrest and accumulate fundamentally sound stocks.

Remember no matter how bad a situation seems it's an opportunity for some other fellows.

I hope you know the owner of Zoom has his best time in terms of profit in his life during the worst time in the world. This is reality no sentiment.

Oga Emma, do you think the stock market will allow the bears take over in the light of these economic uncertainties?

Transatlantic, what direction is the dollar likely to go?
That the dimension protest has taken will affect investment will be saying the least.
Generally, market is affected by: Results from listed companies, news, sentiments, speculations, level of economic stability and the generally outlook of the country.

However, when the effect on the stock market (any investment window) for instance is due to external causes and not because of management or bad results ie internal there is no course for alarm.

If for example you invest in a company that has its fundamentals still intact and external factors like the protest results in low price of the stock, that will be a better time to buy more and average down.

Sincerely from experience when there are crises opportunities are most times presenting itself in the stock market.

That notwithstanding, if you are risk averse, it is always better to remain with low risk investment window and stay with fixed/guaranteed income instruments. Also, this time may not be the best time to invest in instruments not regulated by SEC or to speculate.

Good evening house. Thanks for the good job you are doing here. Please one of my friends bought this fcmb shares since 2012, never collected any dividend on it. The thing now is I want to sell it, please how can I go about it. Thanks.
To collect the outstanding dividends, your friend should complete the e- dividend mandate form and submit to the registrar of Fcmb ie cardinalstone registrars or to his/her bank.

For the selling, it depends on how it was bought ie if in the primary market or on the floor of the NSE and if on the floor whether the stockbroking firm is still operational or not.

If it's on the floor and the firm is in operation then contact them and place a sell order.

If it's was bought in the primary market and your friend still have the fcmb certificate, then the first thing is to open a cscs account with a stockbroking firm and the demat will be done so that the shares will be domicile with the cscs through the stockbroking firm and it can be sold easily.

To open a cscs account with Investment One click on the link on my signature or call 08181057319

I actually do understand this. I've read the FBN fact sheets and understand the percentages of funds invested into each instrument.

2.7% today. 16-10-2020
As long as you see TBills going down don't expect anything better from MMFs. Actually the benchmark of MMFs is 90 days TBills rate. The reason it's still up to 2 or 3% for some is because some of the assets are commercial papers.

At this time fixed income categories like VGIF and balance fund is good alternative.
Particularly balanced fund is good this period because it's a Bullish season on the NSE. If you look at the ranking of mutual funds perfirmance recently it's obvious that balance fund and equity funds are doing well.

N. B: Balance and equity funds are not risk free and returns are not fixed but completely dependent on funds performance. Do your due diligence.

You & emmasoft are misleading people here. To liquidate my fund your company said 3 working days. I have filled redemption form since last week Wednesday, today is Tuesday almost one week yet no response from anyone in your office. I contacted emmasoft but he is non chalant

The worst is the 7.5% they are promising which am not sure it is true as my online account is showing different thing. But will confirm this after full liquidation
@obamma and all. On behalf of IOFS we sincerely apologize for the delay of your redemption payment. It’s not the usual practice but rather a process induced delay.
From the team:
We sincerely apologize about his experience. The VGIF redemption takes 3 working days, however, when the payment was sent to the bank it failed and the transaction had to be re-initiated

To all our customers and prospects on the thread, please be rest assured that Investment One (Former GTBank Aseet Management) is a reputable investment outfit and fully SEC regulated and compliant to all regulatory rules and protocol.

Be free and come on board. Your fund with us is safe and all stipulated and stated features of all products are adhered to in full compliance.
Kindly send your observations and concern to the customer care, your account officer or live chat with our agents on the website and any concern will be cleared.
For the avoidance of doubt Please note VGIF is still 7.5% if there is any change it will always be communicated and made public.

That is why it's advised in investment particularly stock market: Beware of FEAR and GREED. FEAR will deprive you of the money you suppose to make while GREED will make you lose the money you already made. Many people already won and overcome FEAR because they invested during bearish period now it's time to overcome the next hurdle- GREED. Do your due diligence.
