I don’t even like Umahi. However, the question I want to ask is this, “ Is Umahi the first political office holder to defect to another political party in this country?”

So what happens to the others? Ben Ayade, etc
Foreign AffairsRe: USA, EU & UK Impose First Stage Sanctions On Russia by emmydee(m): 7:06am On Feb 22, 2022
FERNANDEZISBACK:
US is the biggest economy..yes most world trade happens in US dollars but to make the sanctions effective it need to threaten to sanction third parties...

So for US sanctions to be effective unless US has monopoly on something they will threaten to sanctions not only the country.. but also companies trading with that country...So for example if US sanction Nigeria and BMW export cars there US will sanction BMW and refuse to import from BMW or export anything to that company. Since US is a huge market and most companies of some value have some connection to US this makes the sanctions effective.

For sanctions on Iran big oil companies are reluctant to invest in the oil business in Iran because it can hurt more than they will earn...

Without these third party sanctions, US sanctions wouldn't be effective and companies outside US would get a competitive edges in that region...
What other country has this kinda power?
All international transactions pass through US treasury. If you don’t know this, know it now. If US says you can’t buy, you can’t buy. If the US says you can’t sell, you can’t sell. Ask Iran how far. And that is why US is saying “no “ to Crypto because they can’t control it. Russia will cease to be what it is today if it eventually invades Ukraine. Putin is just a mad man. He will ruin Russia.

$329m for consultancy supervision. Supervision ooo. So what are the people working in the various ministries and agencies doing if they cannot supervise projects?

This money will still go back to the people who released it and you still don’t want to believe that Buhari’s Administration is FANTASTICALLY CORRUPT?

It is very important for you to tell us what route you intend to use to travel to any of these countries. Is it education, business or just tourism? If you wish to settle down in UK as a postgraduate student, then, 7 million naira should be ok.
TravelRe: Poland Work Visa by emmydee(m): 8:13am On Jan 27, 2022
szczescie:
Let me tell you the truth, I am the most optimistic person here, but from what I have gathered personally the Polish Embassy is trying to make sure not everyone gets a visa. Even those who are qualified.

They are doing so by using this draw system; they said, Your Application number will remain in the draw till you get a date for visa interview or till your work permit or any other document authorising you to work or study in Poland expires meaning they know what they are doing.

They also said 2021 they were overwhelmed by the sudden influx of people who suddenly became interested in studying and working in Poland.

To answer your question the permit usually lasts from 6 months to 1 year but most people with 6 Months permits may likely not get invited by the embassy before it expires and immidiately it expires the thing giving you legitimacy to apply for visa is no more so your application will be thrown out from the system you will no longer be part of the draw

Even students masters and doctoral especially, I haven't interacted with undergraduate students to know but some from the September/October 2021 were still not given visa and instead of talking about fixing interview date the embassy was talking something along the lines of school fees refunds and what not. Men the thing shock me.

If they can do it to students they can definitely do it to workers. At leas students are coming to pay you school fees and books and hostel money while workers are coming to take jobs and earn salary, salary that could have remained in Europe and jobs that could have gone to Europeans.

This people no send at all.
Imagine the nonsense!

TravelRe: Poland Work Visa by emmydee(m): 8:05am On Jan 27, 2022
One major problem I have with this Polish visa runs is that I can’t be milling around their embassy every week. I don’t have that strength and luxury. I want to walk into the embassy on the appointed date for my interview, pick my passport same day or any other day or receive it by mail. So if I live in Lagos as I do, you would expect me to be going to the embassy in Abuja 3 times a week to check if my name is out? Who does that? Must I even go to Poland?

martyns303:
A couple of weeks ago, a thread hit the front page about a NL’s mom who’s diabetic and this has now affected her legs, and they are about cutting off the said leg.

What that NL doesn’t know is that, he’s at 50% chance of developing diabetes himself.

You are at 50% chance of developing diabetes if a parent is diabetic and the other 50% depends on your lifestyle. No, diabetes doesn’t affect only the elderly, you can develop diabetes at any age.

If you have a diabetic parent like that poster, while you can’t do anything about the hereditary 50%, you can do something about your lifestyle.

Here are some life adjustment I have made, that can help you as well.

1. Don’t drink
2. Don’t smoke
3. Cut down or eliminate soft drinks
4. Reduce the carbs. If you are like me that love swallow, eat oatmeal swallow instead of Eba.
5. Exercise, it doesn’t have to be vigorous. I skip rope, 200-300 every morning.
6. Monitor your blood sugar level, it’s just N1k

Stay healthy.
I lost my Dad in 2017 from complications from diabetics. They live in PH while I live in Lagos. So I was not conversant with diabetics and it’s numerous complications. Last year, 2021, my mom developed a sore on her left toe. I already knew that someone with diabetics could develop sore on the leg. I didn’t understand that it was the last stage of diabetics. So I went down to see her. The pain was excruciating, I couldn’t sleep at nights because of her shouts. So a couple of days later, I decided to bring her to Lagos so she could be attended to in Igbobi but she could not endure the journey so we went to an orthopedic hospital in Ph where she was amputated 3 times. The doctor failed to bring his professionalism to bare. A few weeks later, she died in the hospital. But out of curiosity, the doctor insisted that all the children should be tested for diabetics, out of the 7 of us, I was the only one diagnosed with diabetics. My sugar level was 288 about 16.5! I was educated on how to manage it and it was then I learnt how complicated Diabetics is. I used to take beer and other alcohol, I used to eat plenty eba even after the diagnosis. Later on, I began to eat small swallow but each time I test my sugar level it was always as high as 9 or 11. Sometimes 13.0. So I was running from pillar to post trying to figure out why it was not going down. Though some days it would go down to 7.9 or there about. I was so worried as I had stopped eating a lot of things but not swallow. However, out of a stroke of luck, I found out that each time I ate eba, it would go exceedingly high the next day no matter how small. So I decided to be eating Amala, semo and co but not eba, it would still not go down beyond 8. It was just recently that I discovered that I am not supposed to eat swallow at all not withstanding the type but I could eat rice and quacker oats. So I concentrated on these two meals with vegetables and garden eggs. With groundnuts and other simple stuffs but certainly, not swallow, alcohol, raw sugar, bread, fry fry foods, soft drinks and other really unnecessary foods and junks. I also exercise a lot though not vigorously. Since I began to maintain this tempo, my sugar level has not gone beyond 6.4. Lest I forget, I stopped taking Glucophage and dionil about 2 months ago. In fact, someone told me about Abere seed and I take it occasionally. It has also helped me.
Bottom line is that Diabetics is far more dangerous than what we all think about the disease. Once you have, it is no longer “business as usual “. It requires more attention than driving on the highway!

SportsRe: Football Fans Reacts To Nigeria Vs Egypt Match by emmydee(m): 7:47am On Jan 12, 2022
Zaidu Sanusi over estimated Salah and gave him too much attention. He made sure Salah was invincible all through the match. Aribo did a good job. Kelechi iheanacho under performed . Ndidi was brilliant. Moses Simon tormented the Egyptian defense all through but his crosses need to be accurate. Chukwueze ensured the ball always got to the Egyptian defense line, good work. Omeruo and Troost-Ekong held the defense and barred the Egyptians from making any comfortable attempts. Okoye was virtually on holiday, but focused. Awoniyi tried but needs to improve on his shooting skills. Ola Aino was a rock in that midfield. He did a good job. Little wonder he got the highest rating of 8.0 supposedly the Man of the Match.
