spyder880: passion007:This is quite sad and i am not happy that everyone seem to be quiet about it all. I can't seem to fathom the sense in it all. It was tried in Abuja and it failed, no thanks to a Lawyer who challenged the illegality in court. I am quite supportive of any initiative geared towards putting an end to this nonsense!! |
inze:That's 2 hrs of drive time or less per day. Very doable if you ask me. |
Seem to be the only one not posting pictures from my visit to Enugu. Still in Enugu, so odibee late! I will like to raise a few concerns. Some of the roads built at the the twilight of the Nnamani administration or the early days of Sullivan Chime, are failing. The stretch between Agric Bank and Brown and Brown (going through WAEC, Industrial court). Amuri Road/Nike Lake road, Some parts of GRA into Trans Ekulu and Dhamija. I must also commend the initiative around Naira Triangle/NNPC mega station. The new demarcation and diversions make big sense and I am loving it. Last but not the least, the menace of touts masquerading as traffic regulators! I am quite sad to see how these guys have turned into a Judges and Jury, being rude to people and just fleecing people off. I know that this is some agency saddled with traffic management. But i also doubt if they are court, who pronounce people guilty and then force them to pay a fine! Are there no lawyers in Enugu to challenge this illegality? IF someone breaks a traffic rule, it is not the role of the apprehending office to dispense fine. I am also not sure of any law either in the state assembly setting that agency up. These matters need to be taken up. Who's with me on this? Aside these, i am having a well deserved rest! ![]() |
Please how much will clear a 2010 Honda Pilot on PTML? |

Oga, better show ur face here oo. . . . . even me wey be less frequent commenter know say u commot! |
We dare to dream again? Well, let's see how it goes. I don't want my hopes dashed. |
Herrera is pulling the plugs for me. Di Maria adding the urgency that we are missing. This is not an opposition to give me erections, but i guess the team needs such a confidence booster. An Anderson in this mix could make things much more urgent. Mata is all over the place but not pulling his weight well enough. Maybe a Herrera more advanced will mean more damage. Back line is still suspect for me though! |
Nice thread. Sultan Can you advice me on the quality of this rotor? http://www.amazon.com/Callahan-CK003511-Premium-Ceramic-Brake/dp/B00E1SKC1Y/ref=sr_1_12?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1407346789&sr=1-12&keywords=brake+rotors+for+Lexus+es330 Average cost in Nigeria is N50k. Infact Briscoe and Emordi parts(best dealer for genuine Toyota and Lexus parts) sells N120k for the same part. i am also considering this http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-TKT-026-Engine-Timing-Water/dp/B008EEYWX0/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1407346987&sr=1-4&keywords=timing+belt+kit |
lomomike: If I come into Abuja, I stay in phase 2 site 1 Kubwa, but I am not always in Abuja due to work. I'm mostly in Ibadan for now. Dawaki is after madalla shey?Dawaki is before Kubwa. Just opposite Gwarinpa |
lomomike: Which market did you finally settled for? Dubai or Briscoe?Yea, i was staying in Kubwa until last week. But i am not far off. I stay in Dawaki now so i can always drive over. The 02 sensor thing was pointing to the catalyst under the engine. I will run a scan and post the codes here. I used Car-Doctor to do the analysis. And is suggestion was i should change the sensor. What part of Abuja do you stay? Can we meet up? Maybe a test drive will clarify things further. per the discs, I haven't made a choice. I say a brand Callahn on Amazon. All four rotors with brake pad for $180. i am just trying to figure whether to go for it. |
lomomike: Lol, I dey site with POP cement stains for body, when I'm done with my site and home, we'll try solve this CEL trickery. ![]() Man must wack men. . . . . . |
Lomo, a little guidance. I suspect a couple of my sensors are playing 10-10 with me. I get the check light and on scanning, i get P2241, P0420 and another code that has to do with catalytic system inefficiency. At some point the CEL goes off on its own and could come on at other time. The time difference varies. I have dismantled my catalyst and looked at it and it looks very ok. Neat inside, no soot or anything of sort. I have done a little way and reinserted it. Then the another one on fuel vapour leak (small leak) comes on and goes as well. A couple of times i use my scanner to clear the codes, some will come back on. at other times just two. My wahala is that the cel will normally go off on its own and come back after say 2 or 3 days of driving. I have used a decent technician and they can't seem to trace where this is coming from. the likely conclusion is that my sensors might be the culprit. My car is a 2005 ES330. Meanwhile, i shuddered when Briscoe charged me 120k for 4 brake rotors (discs). . . . . . . . . another unit from Dubai is saying N50k for all 4. Mine is now making a wuu sound once my speed get's to 70km/h and vibrates on braking when speed exceeds 100km/h. |
Reporting for class!!! ![]() Good evening Uncle Piyke. . . . .You are welcome to Class N. . . . . Akwukwo mgbede!! ![]() |
Thomas Vermaelen: Arsenal boss Wenger drops Man Utd hint Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says the club have received offers for captain Thomas Vermaelen and that Manchester United could be one of the bidders. The 27-year-old made just 14 Premier League appearances last season and has attracted interest from several clubs. Wenger refused to discuss the size of the bids but did say he would prefer to see the defender move abroad. When asked if Manchester United were one of the bidders, he said: "I think they could be in the group." |
GAZZUZZ: You paid 1,450,000 for a 2003 le camry you can get for same price or less cash and carry? Even here on nairaland there are countless posts of tokumbor camrys just run a vin check and you are good to go. Another one in a space of 1 week......where's Chelseabmw the peacemaker? |
Lexusgs430: If unsure, save to replace. Cost of replacing is cheaper than fixing a faulty engine. Are you in Abuja? Can you recommend? |
Lexusgs430: Toyota and Lexus recommends replacement of timing belts @ 90,000 miles or 9 years. If vehicle has a service history, check if belt has been replaced.I am unable to ascertain this unfortunately. Couldn't find any detailed service history. Quite sad. |
Guys, what are your thoughts on changing timing belt and tensioner? Got my ES330 at 118k and currently at 120k. . . . .I am not sure what it says as to when to change it. But this is one preventive maintenance i am conscious of. Also, my check engine has gone from emission system below threshold to P2214, something about the 02 sensor current being high. I am so sure this is a sensor issue. What are your thoughts? Before now, i had an emission below threshold code, small fuel vapour leak code. Now after clearing these codes twice, it is now the 2214 above that keeps coming up. |

Bookmarked!!! |
smartchoice: how much you dey take find am.....so I go fit arrange or make calls for you....if its worth it.700k |
smartchoice: for how much? What;s your figure? |
Ikenna351: If you stay in Abuja, I would suggest you either go for 206 SW or step up to 406, even if it's D8. Availability of 306 parts in Abuja is a big challenge to owners.Got any 206 for sale? A colleague is in need of one. |
This is not a new ish And to an extent, you can always trust the quality of their jobs. Another trick is that if the car is not from Insurance company, please get away from it FAST!!! Individual sellers are the most dubious |

'Nairalanders can spoil people's career in one second' Calculus 2014. . . . . . .epic quote!!! Dr Bimbo, i have VERY strong words for you but i will reserve it for now. ![]() |
9icetoo: I am not too conversant with 02 values. You might want to swap in a fairly used post cat 02 sensor to check if that will clear the problem. If it does, then you can start saving up for a new one. Please make sure you buy the sensor with the correct part number or same part number as the one you are replacing. Are O2 Cat sensors or sensors at large generic parts? ![]() |
jimmrozz: It happens early in the morning when I started the car, I did nothing, but I only try to switch it off according to the manual. If i get you correctly, your check engine light came on alongside the TRAC OFF and VSA light? If this is correct, you should be running a diagnostic scan on the car to know what the issue with CEL is first of all. I noticed that with the Lexus, once the CEL comes on, it brings on the VSA and TRAC OFF indicators as well. Once the CEL issue is sorted and codes cleared, these lights go off as well and don't come on. Again, how do you intend to manually switch off these lights? I hope you don't mean taking off the battery connectors? Doing these will not solve the problem The lights will simply come back on once the ECU resets. Go to a diagnostic mechanic and run a scan, and bring the codes here. ![]() |
9icetoo: Maybe, but that may not be the reason too. Failing pre and post cat 02 sensors sometimes make the ECU think the cat is failing when it isn't. You will need a good auto shop to check out your pre and post 02 sensors to confirm if they are still working within spec. If they are and you do not have any leaks, then you have to change your catalyst. If it is indeed your catalyst, then the quality of fuel here might have contributed to its early demise. If you are in Abuja, you can seek out the counsel of Ikenna or Car Doctor, they'd be of good help. Don't gut out the cat yet until you confirm. The bolded is the only person who has worked on the car. We have brought down the CC to see if the indomie was still in there, and it was positive. We washed it and fitted it back and cleared the codes which came back after 2 days driving. But something also is worthy of note. We checked the reading of the O2 sensors and the post O2 sensor readings where quite or way above normal. something in the region 3.0..... others where with 0.8 to 1.0. I don't know whether this could be a pointer to the issue. |
9icetoo: I agree that anything that isnt desired in a mixture is an impurity. However, lead does not decrease the octane rating of petrol. Before the eighties, petrol was sold with lead in it to prevent detonation> The lead content actually acted as an octane booster. The advent of catalytic converters made lead in petrol undesirable cos of the negative effect it had on the expensive catalytic converters. Other chemical compounds were formulated to boost the octane rating of petrol. Unleaded fuel is not high octane fuel as you believe. Almost all the petrol sold today the world over is unleaded except for very few petrol stations around the world (i don't think nigeria is included) who sell leaded petrol and they clearly mark it out as leaded so you don't mistakenly put the leaded petrol into your modern car. In fact, the dispensing nozzle on a leaded fuel pump will not fit into the petrol receptacle of your modern vehicle. Unleaded fuel is not for high performance cars alone let alone being only for S series or AM whatever. Higher octane petrol are needed in engines with high compression ratios. The higher the compression ratio, the higher the chance of pre-ignition and detonation which could be catastrophic for the engine. Lastly, the higher octane petrol does not supply the oxygen for combustion; atmospheric air drawn into the combustion chamber through your air intake manifold does.Could this be the reason why my Lexus is throwing up the Malfunction Indicator Lamp saying that my Catalytic Converter efficiency is below threshold? All the car needed was to take a trip from Lagos to Abuja and that came up instantly. I am already planning on doing a CC change. Which is quite pricey. What are your thoughts? |
So the data loss also hit us. . . . .and very key data lost. |
