*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* SUNDAY, 3RD AUGUST, 2025 _*{Trinity 7}*_ *THEME:* CONTROLLED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT *TEXT:* GALATIANS 5: 16-26 _*(NKJV)*_ 5:16. I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 5:17. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 5:18. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 5:19. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 5:20. idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 5:21. envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told [you] in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 5:23. gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 5:24. And those [who are] Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 5:25. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 5:26. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. *MESSAGE:* Believers are called to live in the Spirit, to pray in the Spirit and to walk in Spirit and in truth. This is an absolute standard that cannot be compromised. As such, Christians must live a spiritual life that bears the fruit of the Spirit. Carnality as well as fulfilling the desires of the sinful nature, are totally abhorred. As disciples, we are to walk by the Spirit for in so doing, we will not carry out the desires of the flesh. The Scripture thus reminds us that we can only walk by means of the Spirit when we place our lives under his full control. We can only walk in spirit and truth when we are led by the Holy Spirit of truth and guided by his Word of truth. Therefore, to live the spiritual life that God requires of all his children means that we should be willing to submit to his will and authority in every situation. *PRAYER:* Holy Spirit, help me to listen to Your voice, submit to Your will, and be obedient to Your Word, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"Every promise that I make is true, for I do not lie or change My mind."_ *Numbers 23: 19* |
*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* SATURDAY, 2ND AUGUST, 2025 *THEME:* PROVOKING GOD'S GENERATIONAL BLESSINGS *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 7: 4-17 _*(NKJV)*_ 7:4. But it happened that night that the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying, 7:5. "Go and tell My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: "Would you build a house for Me to dwell in? 7:6. "For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle. 7:7. "Wherever I have moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, 'Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?' " ' 7:8. "Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. 7:9. "And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who [are] on the earth. 7:10. "Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously, 7:11. "since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the LORD tells you that He will make you a house. 7:12. " When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 7:13. "He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 7:14. "I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. 7:15. "But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took [it] from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 7:16. "And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever." ' " 7:17. According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David. *MESSAGE:* In our days, we must remind ourselves that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. David's devotion to build a house for God sparked off divine and sublime provocations. So, though God would not allow David to build a house for him, David's devotion to God had already aroused God to bless the household of David from generation to generation. It pays to be devoted and to serve Jesus wholeheartedly. God invoked blessings upon David and will still do more upon anyone who would build him or herself to serve and be devoted to Christ Jesus. Such a person will be established and will have his/her generation established by God as holy people. God will have a paternal relationship with that person and his/her generation will receive God's pardon and mercies. No one has ever served God from the heart and hands that was abandoned by God. We must learn to give ourselves first to the Lord and then all our resources for his Service. God surely will 'retaliate.' *PRAYER:* Lord, I commit myself to Your ways and pleasures, bless me indeed, *Amen.* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"One day, you will see My face and My name will be on your forehead."_ *Revelation 22: 4* |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* TUESDAY, 29TH JULY, 2025 *THEME:* DIVINE VISITATION AND BLESSING *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 6: 10-12 _*(NKJV)*_ 6:10. So David would not move the ark of the LORD with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 6:11. The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the LORD blessed Obed-Edom and all his household. 6:12. Now it was told King David, saying, "The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that [belongs] to him, because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness. *MESSAGE:* After seeing how Uzzah was struck dead for touching the ark of God, David became afraid that he could no longer bring the Ark to the City of David. He decided to take the ark to the house of Obed-Edom. The ark was there for three months and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his household so much that everyone saw it. God's blessing upon the household of Obed-Edom shows how the presence of God can turn around the situation of a man. The presence of God in the life of a man causes the heavens to open and pour down divine blessings. The glory of a man cannot be hidden when he is visited by God because divine visitation comes with divine blessings. The ark of God probably would not have been in the house of Obed-Edom without his consent. As long as the ark of God was in the house of Obed-Edom, he experienced an outpouring of divine blessing. Beloved, you need to note these two requirements for receiving the blessing of God. The first is your willingness to allow the presence of God in your life. The second is to live a life that is habitable for God - a holy life that can retain his presence. God has so much in store for you as his child (1 Cor. 2:9) and He desires to visit you with his glory and cause his divine presence to abide with you. All you need to do is to make room for him (Rev. 3:20). *PRAYER:* Heavenly Father, help me to live a life that attracts Your divine presence in Jesus' Name, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"When problems arise, call Me and I will answer you."_ *Psalm 86: 7* |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: MONDAY, JULY 28, 2025 TOPIC: GOD'S ANGER AGAINST UZZAH READ: 2 SAMUEL 6:1-9 (NKJV) 6:1. Again David gathered all [the] choice [men] of Israel, thirty thousand. 6:2. And David arose and went with all the people who [were] with him from Baale Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the Name, the LORD of Hosts, who dwells [between] the cherubim. 6:3. So they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which [was] on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. 6:4. And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which [was] on the hill, accompanying the ark of God; and Ahio went before the ark. 6:5. Then David and all the house of Israel played [music] before the LORD on all kinds of [instruments of] fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals. 6:6. And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put out [his hand] to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 6:7. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for [his] error; and he died there by the ark of God. 6:8. And David became angry because of the LORD's outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the place Perez Uzzah to this day. 6:9. David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, "How can the ark of the LORD come to me?" THE MESSAGE: Uzzah and Ahio guarded the ark of God while it was being relocated on a cart. When they got to the threshing floor of Nachon, the oxen pulling the cart stumbled. Uzzah responded by taking hold of the ark with his hand. God's anger burned against Uzzah for his error and He struck him dead beside the cart (verses 1-7). Uzzah lost his life for disregarding a symbol of God's holy presence (1 Chronicles 13:10). In Numbers 4:15-20, God had forbidden the Levites from touching the ark, lest they die. Uzzah, however, treated the ark of God as an ordinary object and lost his life. Familiarity breeds contempt. God doesn't want anyone to consider as unimportant, His presence. He desires that people should serve Him with reverence and fear. Beloved, it is unfortunate that many Christians still dishonour the commands of God in their daily living today. Some speak carelessly against the servants of God (Numbers 12:1-15). There are many others who are liars in the church like Ananias and Sapphira. Some others mismanage the resources of the Church. Some also encourage injustice and are reckless in their behaviours, like Hophni and Phinehas. However, we must remember that every act of disregard to God will bring terrible consequences. Beware! PRAYER: Almighty God, forgive me of my errors and help me to obey and honour You in all my endeavours, Amen! |
THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: SUNDAY, JULY 27, 2025 (Christian Missionary Society) TOPIC: THE GREAT COMMISSION READ: MATTHEW 28:18-20 (NKJV) 28:18. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 28:19. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 28:20. "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age." Amen. THE MESSAGE: The Christian Missionary Society was founded in 1799 in England with the aim of reaching the world outside England, with the Gospel. The mission came into Nigeria in 1841 in what is called the first Niger Expedition. However, it was during the second Niger expedition, led by the Rev. Samuel Ajayi Crowther, who later became the first black African Bishop, that the Mission was established. The Mission ensured the growth of Christianity in Nigeria. Christian Missions also brought education, health services and agricultural development which resulted in economic empowerment and stopped uncivilised ritual activities such as killing of twins. There are people who accuse Christian Missions of helping slavery. But in actual fact, it was the missionaries who rose as advocates for the stopping of slave trade. In our reading today, our Lord concluded His final instructions to His disciples by telling them what was uppermost in His heart: That all nations might be made disciples through the missionary activities of His apostles. The instruction was "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..." This is called the Great Commission, and all who have been saved and have been rightly instructed in the word of God are meant to be involved in the task by using the different platforms (vocation, professions, groups, communities, etc.), available to them, to make disciples. We must note that the Gospel is the only means by which men can be rescued from darkness into God's marvelous light. PRAYER: Dear Lord, please help Your Church to be more committed to the course of the Gospel, Amen! |
