THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: THURSDAY, JULY 17, 2025 TOPIC: BEWARE OF HIDDEN ENEMIES READ: 2 SAMUEL 3: 27-39 (NKJV) 3:27. Now when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him privately, and there stabbed him in the stomach, so that he died for the blood of Asahel his brother. 3:28. Afterward, when David heard [it,] he said, "My kingdom and I [are] guiltless before the LORD forever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner. 3:29. "Let it rest on the head of Joab and on all his father's house; and let there never fail to be in the house of Joab one who has a discharge or is a leper, who leans on a staff or falls by the sword, or who lacks bread." 3:30. So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle. 3:31. Then David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, "Tear your clothes, gird yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn for Abner." And King David followed the coffin. 3:32. So they buried Abner in Hebron; and the king lifted up his voice and wept at the grave of Abner, and all the people wept. 3:33. And the king sang [a lament] over Abner and said: "Should Abner die as a fool dies? 3:34. Your hands were not bound Nor your feet put into fetters; As a man falls before wicked men, [so] you fell." Then all the people wept over him again. 3:35. And when all the people came to persuade David to eat food while it was still day, David took an oath, saying, "God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread or anything else till the sun goes down!" 3:36. Now all the people took note [of it,] and it pleased them, since whatever the king did pleased all the people. 3:37. For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it had not been the king's [intent] to kill Abner the son of Ner. 3:38. Then the king said to his servants, "Do you not know that a prince and a great man has fallen this day in Israel? 3:39. "And I [am] weak today, though anointed king; and these men, the sons of Zeruiah, [are] too harsh for me. The LORD shall repay the evildoer according to his wickedness." THE MESSAGE: Life demands caution and in this regard, today's passage makes us see clearly the hidden, dangerous and retaliatory intentions of Joab against Abner, over the death of Asahel. Abner had killed Asahel earlier and Joab seemed to be indifferent to this. He pretended to be peaceful, so he could deceive and kill Abner. Abner had thought he was safe in the company of Joab but unfortunately, he was wrong. Child of God, beware of hidden enemies. They can be anywhere. The most dangerous enemies are those you think you can rely on and trust with your life but who are actually looking for an opportunity to cut you down. Therefore, you need to be prayerful and watchful so God would not allow their counsel against you to come to pass. In fact, there are those carrying age-long grudges against you, even in the Church. So, you need to be careful and also ask the Lord to guide and deliver you. PRAYER: Dear Lord, save me from all hidden enemies in Jesus' Name. Amen! |
*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* TUESDAY, 15TH JULY, 2025 *THEME:* GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS TO FULFIL HIS WILL *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 3: 6-16 _*(NKJV)*_ 3:6. Now it was so, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner was strengthening [his hold] on the house of Saul. 3:7. And Saul had a concubine, whose name [was] Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah. So [Ishbosheth] said to Abner, "Why have you gone in to my father's concubine?" 3:8. Then Abner became very angry at the words of Ishbosheth, and said, "[Am] I a dog's head that belongs to Judah? Today I show loyalty to the house of Saul your father, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David; and you charge me today with a fault concerning this woman? 3:9. "May God do so to Abner, and more also, if I do not do for David as the LORD has sworn to him -- 3:10. "to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan to Beersheba." 3:11. And he could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him. 3:12. Then Abner sent messengers on his behalf to David, saying, "Whose [is] the land?" saying [also,] "Make your covenant with me, and indeed my hand [shall be] with you to bring all Israel to you." 3:13. And [David] said, "Good, I will make a covenant with you. But one thing I require of you: you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face." 3:14. So David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, Saul's son, saying, "Give [me] my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines." 3:15. And Ishbosheth sent and took her from [her] husband, from Paltiel the son of Laish. 3:16. Then her husband went along with her to Bahurim, weeping behind her. So Abner said to him, "Go, return!" And he returned. *MESSAGE:* Our passage today shows how Abner was accused by Ishboseth of having secret affairs with a concubine of late king Saul. Abner had earlier single-handedly installed Ishboseth king over Israel. So Abner in his fiery and angry response, did not actually deny the accusation but made a deadly threat and determined not to appoint Ishboseth as king over Israel. He started taking certain steps against Ishboseth and at the same time, working to assist David to reign over entire Israel. A critical look at this passage shows that God had allowed the conflict between Abner and Ishboseth to bring about the establishment of David as a king over the whole of Israel. Beloved, if God intervenes in the situation of his children, He can cause confusion in the camp of the enemy in order to pave the way for the fulfilment of his purpose, no matter the level of opposition. God is capable of making your enemies work in your favour if your ways please him. If you want to see God in action using your enemies to further his counsel for your life, keep his words and live to please him. The rest shall be testimonies in your favour. *PRAYER:* Dear Lord, create confusion in the camp of my enemies to advance Your purpose for my life, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I have put My law within you and have written it on your heart."_ *Jeremiah 31: 33* |
*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* MONDAY, 14TH JULY, 2025 *THEME:* THE LORD IS THE SOURCE OF SURE STRENGTH *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 3: 1-5 _*(NKJV)*_ 3:1. Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker. 3:2. Sons were born to David in Hebron: His firstborn was Amnon by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; 3:3. his second, Chileab, by Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite; the third, Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; 3:4. the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital; 3:5. and the sixth, Ithream, by David's wife Eglah. These were born to David in Hebron. *MESSAGE:* Today's passage compares the strength of the house of David with the strength of the house of Saul. "Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the House of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker" (v.1). Strength is the portion of those who abide in God's Presence and obey his commandments. Psalm 84:7 says, "They go from strength to strength; one his face certainly brings strength. The strength of David remained because he cultivated the habit of staying in the presence of God to renew that strength. On the contrary, king Saul disobeyed God and He rejected him for being a king in Israel (1 Sam. 15:11). He and his household also grew weak because he had disconnected himself from the source of his strength. Beloved, strength in life is a product of a personal relationship with the Lord. Your personal encounter with God will make enable you confront the battles of life. To disconnect from God is to disconnect from the source of strength. When your life does not align with the will of God, your house will become a vegetable garden for the devil. The edge around your life and your destiny will be broken down and you will be vulnerable to attacks from the pit of hell. To stay strong, you need to seek God and his strength today in his Word and in prayer (1 Chron. 16:11). *PRAYER:* Almighty God, grant me grace to draw strength from Your presence always, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I have poured My love into your heart through My Spirit."_ *Romans 5: 5* |

Happy Sunday Everyone |
✝️📗 Church of Nigeria- Anglican Communion Daily Fountain Devotional for Sunday July 13, 2025 (Trinity IV) ✝️✅️TOPIC: WALKING IN LOVE ✝️TEXT: Ephesians 5:1-10(NKJV) TEXT: Ephesians 5:1-10(NKJV) 5:1. Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 5:2. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. 5:3. But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 5:4. neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5:5. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 5:6. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 5:7. Therefore do not be partakers with them. 5:8. For you were once darkness, but now [you are] light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 5:9. (for the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 5:10. finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. STUDY One major way by which believers can walk in love is to be truly concerned with and get involved in the welfare of one another. Paul charged all Christians to imitate God in loving one another and this can only be practised by obeying God’s Commandments. 1 John 5:3 says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” The same writer of John in 2 John 1:5 puts it this way, “And this is love that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.” Love is God’s nature. It is contagious, so we must spread it. Love can be spread to heal and save; it does not kill rather, it’s a healing balm. Beloved in Christ, let us walk in love by showing concern to people in need around us. There are people who need just words of encouragement; we must not deny them. True love is expressed in giving or sharing. Therefore, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:18). Our love for Jesus will make us to take up our cross and follow him in the face of mockery and opposition. Above all, you need to offer your life as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. This will make you to live a holy life because the God you are imitating is holy. PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant me grace to walk in love all the days of my life, Amen! |
THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: SATURDAY, JULY 12, 2025 TOPIC: ABNER'S EXAMPLE OF BUILDING RECONCILIATION READ: 2 SAMUEL 2:25-32 (NKJV) 2:25. Now the children of Benjamin gathered together behind Abner and became a unit, and took their stand on top of a hill. 2:26. Then Abner called to Joab and said, "Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that it will be bitter in the latter end? How long will it be then until you tell the people to return from pursuing their brethren?" 2:27. And Joab said, "[As] God lives, unless you had spoken, surely then by morning all the people would have given up pursuing their brethren." 2:28. So Joab blew a trumpet; and all the people stood still and did not pursue Israel anymore, nor did they fight anymore. 2:29. Then Abner and his men went on all that night through the plain, crossed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron; and they came to Mahanaim. 2:30. So Joab returned from pursuing Abner. And when he had gathered all the people together, there were missing of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel. 2:31. But the servants of David had struck down, of Benjamin and Abner's men, three hundred and sixty men who died. 2:32. Then they took up Asahel and buried him in his father's tomb, which [was in] Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at daybreak. THE MESSAGE: In today's passage, Abner calls to Joab for reconciliation after the loss of many generals in both camps. He said, "Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that the end will be bitter? How long will it be before you tell your people to turn from the pursuit of their brothers?" This statement made Joab to instruct his warriors to stop pursuing Abner's army. The two commanders thereafter, returned to their bases. David also showed true reconciliation and love for those who hated him. He had learnt to leave vengeance for God, and would not personally strike those appointed by God over His people, not even in his bid to become king. Abner handed the kingdom over to David, but died in the hands of the son of Zeruiah, for his previous sin against them. Friend, if you want reconciliation with God, you have to be reconciled with other people. You cannot live in harmony with your heavenly Father unless you are living in harmony with your fellow human beings. What rift is there between you and your brothers and sisters, that you think cannot be resolved? God wants you to settle it today; please, bury the hatchets. Be bold enough to take the step like Abner and make the first move. It takes humility to initiate reconciliation. It is a good price to pay. Restoring a cracked relationship is like mending a broken wall. This requires purposeful and intentional actions. To have genuine reconciliation, the parties involved must admit their faults and be ready to repair all damages. That is exactly what you should do as a child of God. God has set the example for us in Jesus Christ, who came as our Reconciler. You can also follow in His steps today. PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to reconcile with You and with all who offend me, Amen! |
*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* FRIDAY, 11TH JULY, 2025 *THEME:* DO NOT IGNORE THE ADVICE OF ELDERS *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 2: 12-24 _*(NKJV)*_ 2:12. Now Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon. 2:13. And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out and met them by the pool of Gibeon. So they sat down, one on one side of the pool and the other on the other side of the pool. 2:14. Then Abner said to Joab, "Let the young men now arise and compete before us." And Joab said, "Let them arise." 2:15. So they arose and went over by number, twelve from Benjamin, [followers] of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve from the servants of David. 2:16. And each one grasped his opponent by the head and [thrust] his sword in his opponent's side; so they fell down together. Therefore that place was called the Field of Sharp Swords, which [is] in Gibeon. 2:17. So there was a very fierce battle that day, and Abner and the men of Israel were beaten before the servants of David. 2:18. Now the three sons of Zeruiah were there: Joab and Abishai and Asahel. And Asahel [was as] fleet of foot as a wild gazelle. 2:19. So Asahel pursued Abner, and in going he did not turn to the right hand or to the left from following Abner. 2:20. Then Abner looked behind him and said, "[Are] you Asahel?" He answered, "I [am."] 2:21. And Abner said to him, "Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and lay hold on one of the young men and take his armor for yourself." But Asahel would not turn aside from following him. 2:22. So Abner said again to Asahel, "Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I face your brother Joab?" 2:23. However, he refused to turn aside. Therefore Abner struck him in the stomach with the blunt end of the spear, so that the spear came out of his back; and he fell down there and died on the spot. So it was [that] as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died, stood still. 2:24. Joab and Abishai also pursued Abner. And the sun was going down when they came to the hill of Ammah, which [is] before Giah by the road to the Wilderness of Gibeon. *MESSAGE:* Today's passage reveals to us that ignoring advice from a superior is very dangerous, especially when such a person is experienced. As Abner who defected from the camp of Saul to the camp of David left the contest between him and general Joab, Asahel, the swift-footed soldier and the younger brother of Joab pursued him. Abner was reluctant in killing him and warned him to turn back from the pursuit him, but Asahel would not listen. When Asahel drew near to him and closed the gap, then Abner used his own spear to kill him on the spot. Beloved, do not ignore the advice of elders because what an elder would see while sitting, a young man cannot see it even if he climbs to the top of a mountain. Many young people have lost their lives as a result of rebellion. God is the Supreme Being and anyone who ignores his instructions ignores life. Asahel ignored the advice of Abner and died (vv. 21-23). King Saul ignored the instruction of God through Prophet Samuel and God took the kingdom away from him and he died as a common man on the battle field. The sons of Prophet Eli ignored the warning of their father and died prematurely. They could not fulfil God's mandate upon their lives. Do you have the attitude of ignoring wise counsel? God wants you to change today, because in the multitude of counsel, there is safety. *PRAYER:* Dear Lord, help me not to ignore the wise counsel of the elders around me, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I give good gifts to My children when they ask."_ *Matthew 7: 11* |
Xso666:She has been in the game for long and have masked herself with the virgin stuff just to deceive you to believe what she was not. Its a game! How would she just turn promiscuous in just a week or two? And even lied to you she was in the house even when she's absent even saying its battery issues and so on. She has mastered the game. If truly she is a virgin, she should have been reserved, homely and so on..there are virtues that goes with it. She doesn't even display any of those virtues. If this a Christian home, I want to believe that both of you are active in church activities, newly married in new location are always open to enermy attacks of different kinds if you are not the type that put your faith to work whether you are a Christian or Muslim. You must put your faith to work by practising what the holy book says. Its even better she displayed her colours this early in marriage so you can better put it on checks. As it stand, God made it possible for you to see this, your handling of this matter is what will further strengthen your marriage or continue to put question marks in the future. My prayer for you is this, that you will find healing and strength to overcome this challenging state of your marital journey. |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: TUESDAY, JULY 08, 2025 TOPIC: SHEATH YOUR SWORD! READ: 2 SAMUEL 1:17-27 (NKJV) 1:17. Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son, 1:18. and he told [them] to teach the children of Judah [the Song of] the Bow; indeed [it is] written in the Book of Jasher: 1:19. "The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen! 1:20. Tell [it] not in Gath, Proclaim [it] not in the streets of Ashkelon -- Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph. 1:21. "O mountains of Gilboa, [Let there be] no dew nor rain upon you, Nor fields of offerings. For the shield of the mighty is cast away there! The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil. 1:22. From the blood of the slain, From the fat of the mighty, The bow of Jonathan did not turn back, And the sword of Saul did not return empty. 1:23. "Saul and Jonathan [were] beloved and pleasant in their lives, And in their death they were not divided; They were swifter than eagles, They were stronger than lions. 1:24. "O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, Who clothed you in scarlet, with luxury; Who put ornaments of gold on your apparel. 1:25. "How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan [was] slain in your high places. 1:26. I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me; Your love to me was wonderful, Surpassing the love of women. 1:27. "How the mighty have fallen, And the weapons of war perished!" THE MESSAGE: David lived in an era when the law "eye for eye, tooth for a tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe" (Exodus 21: 24 & 25), was in full operation. It is interesting to note that with all the secret and public display of hatred of king Saul and all the opportunities David had to kill him, the Spirit of God in David made him not to do so (1 Samuel 24: 5-7; 26: 7-12). Our text today shows that at Saul's death, instead of rejoicing and celebrating, David lamented and mourned sincerely. He was a man with a different spirit. He believed that vengeance belongs to God and He would repay. Beloved, sheath your sword! Please do not go ahead with your intention of paying back that wrong. Leave it all to God. Please do not rejoice because your perceived enemy is now in one trouble or the other. Do not rejoice over the calamity of those who hurt you. Let God handle all situations for you. Let Him fight for you while you hold your peace. The Bible advises us to mourn with those who mourn. Do not laugh when people are in pain. The desire of Jesus is that you bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you; and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you that you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:44-45). You can do it by the grace of God. PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to leave vengeance for You, in Jesus' Name. |
