THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: SATURDAY, JULY 26, 2025 TOPIC: DO NOT GIVE UP READ: MARK 10:46-52 (NKJV) 10:46. Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 10:47. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 10:48. Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" 10:49. So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you." 10:50. And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. 10:51. So Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight." 10:52. Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. THE MESSAGE: From our text today, it is clear that blind Bartimaeus had the desire to regain his sight. He was tired of living a beggarly life which had placed him at the mercies of people. Seeing would afford him the opportunity of finding something doing and consequently, living a normal life to God's glory. However, this aspiration appeared to be a wishful thinking. No doctor could solve his problem. So he sat and begged, but kept hope alive. Now, as the Lord Jesus who knows our hearts and aspirations, passed by, Bartimaeus seized the moment and cried out for mercy. His cry for mercy exceeded those shouting him down. He would not be discouraged nor give up, until he received his sight. Dear friend, what is that glorious ambition that you have which seems impossible because of your limitations? Just know that God's mercy can lift you above them all. God lifts the poor out of the dunghill and makes him sit among princes. He is able to enlarge the coast of an individual condemned to a life of poverty. All you need to do is to approach the throne of grace to obtain mercy. Be persistent and wait on the Lord in the pursuit of your goals. Do not give up. Just as Bartimaeus received his sight, you will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. PRAYER: O Lord, in Your mercy, help me fulfill my dreams, in Jesus' Name, Amen! |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* THURSDAY, 24TH JULY, 2025 *THEME:* BEWARE, THE ENEMIES WILL COME *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 5: 13-25 _*(NKJV)*_ 5:13. And David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron. Also more sons and daughters were born to David. 5:14. Now these [are] the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5:15. Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, 5:16. Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet. 5:17. Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard [of it] and went down to the stronghold. 5:18. The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. 5:19. So David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?" And the LORD said to David, "Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand." 5:20. So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, "The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water." Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. 5:21. And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away. 5:22. Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. 5:23. Therefore David inquired of the LORD, and He said, "You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 5:24. "And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines." 5:25. And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer. *MESSAGE:* When King David had been established as king over all Israel in fulfilment of God's promise concerning him, the Philistines, Israel's enemies, came to fight him. Prior to this time, David was not a major threat. Though he had reigned for some years in Hebron over a section of Israel, the Philistines were not alarmed. But as soon as they heard he had become king over Israel, they arose. It is clear that just as the Philistines did not want the nation of God's people to possess any weapons, so they did not want to have anyone who would provide a positive direction for the nation. Thank God, David defeated them on all occasions! Dear friend, surely the Lord's promises will be fulfilled in your life. But know that as you rise on the ladder of glory; as you assume new offices and hold appointments that will bring glory to God and advance the course of the gospel or provide deliverance for God's people, the enemies will come attacking. They will seek to hold you captive or forcefully take away your joy. The higher you go, the more sophisticated the enemies become. But if you remain hidden in the secret place of the Most High, taking instructions from him daily, all who rise against you will fall before you. *PRAYER:* O Lord, let the enemies of Your purpose in my life be defeated, in Jesus' Name, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I will restore your health and heal all your hurts."_ *Jeremiah 30:17* |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 23, 2025 TOPIC: THE SECRET OF GREATNESS READ: 2 SAMUEL 5:6-12 (NKJV) 5:6. And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, "You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you," thinking, "David cannot come in here." 5:7. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that [is,] the City of David). 5:8. Now David said on that day, "Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, [who are] hated by David's soul), [he shall be chief and captain."] Therefore they say, "The blind and the lame shall not come into the house." 5:9. Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward. 5:10. So David went on and became great, and the LORD God of hosts [was] with him. 5:11. Then Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters and masons. And they built David a house. 5:12. So David knew that the LORD had established him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted His kingdom for the sake of His people Israel. THE MESSAGE: As soon as David ascended the throne as the king over Israel, he took a strong decision by stepping out of the south of Palestine which happened to be the territory of his own tribe, and moved to the northern part. David by his decision and right choice, gained the full and sincere support of both southern and northern Israel. He therefore ruled and reigned over Israel as a unified nation. He became greater and greater, for the LORD of hosts was with him. He knew that the Lord had established his reign over Israel and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people, Israel. David knew the source of his strength and victory and he stayed true to God in all his endeavours. Even when he got it wrong, he quickly reconnected to God in true repentance (Psalm 51:8-12). David's secret for becoming a successful and great king was his reverence for God. No wonder God described him as a man after His (God's) heart (I Samuel 13:14). He never fought for or manipulated his way to the throne. When it seemed that he had a great opportunity to kill Saul, he refused to take unlawful advantage (1 Samuel 24:1-7). David was not perfect but he was a man who feared the Lord and walked with Him wholeheartedly. As a Christian, remember that greatness in life is not measured by material possession but rather by connection to God. Don't engage in acts or practices that will cut you off from the Lord and make you fall short of the joy and blessing of being in His presence. PRAYER: Dear Lord, please give me the grace to fear You and walk with You wholeheartedly, Amen! |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* TUESDAY, 22ND JULY, 2025 _*{Feast of St. Mary Magdalene}*_ *THEME:* WAITING UPON THE LORD *TEXT:* JOHN 20: 11-18 _*(NKJV)*_ 20:11. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down [and looked] into the tomb. 20:12. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 20:13. Then they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." 20:14. Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing [there,] and did not know that it was Jesus. 20:15. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away." 20:16. Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher). 20:17. Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and [to] My God and your God.' " 20:18. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] He had spoken these things to her. *MESSAGE:* Today we commemorate Mary Magdalene, a woman of great faith. Mary Magdalene's name is mentioned in the gospel more than most of the apostles and other women that were associated with Jesus' ministry. There were other Marys, the name given to the Mary in our text implies that she was Mary from Magdala. She was among the faithful women who followed Jesus in his earthly ministry. She also witnessed both the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. She was the one from whom Jesus cast out seven demons (Mark 6:19). On the first day of the week after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Mary went with Peter and John to the tomb of Jesus. Peter and John went back because Jesus was not found in the tomb, but Mary waited until she saw and heard the risen Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour. As Christ's follower, you must learn from and emulate the dedicated and fruitful life of Mary Like Mary, you should also prove the sincerity of your love and devotion to Christ by your perseverance and endurance. God has many things to say to you regarding your troubles. Don't be intimidated or confused by the happenings around you but learn to patiently wait upon him until you hear him and receive directives from Him. Your perseverance in trying times shows your true love for Christ. Don't leave the place of prayer and meditation, no matter the challenges you face. You cannot claim to love God when you are selective in obeying his words. Learn to follow Jesus in both bad and good times. Wait patiently upon the Lord, He will surely show forth and respond to your situation and challenges. *PRAYER:* Father, please uphold and strengthen me to wait on You in Jesus' Name, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"My armor will help you stand against the plans of the enemy."_ *Ephesians 6: 11* |
