*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* FRIDAY, 30TH MAY, 2025 *THEME:* THE UPPER ROOM EXPERIENCE *TEXT:* ACTS 1: 12-14 _*(NKJV)*_ 1:12. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey. 1:13. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James [the son] of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas [the son] of James. 1:14. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. *MESSAGE:* As soon as Christ ascended, his disciples returned to Jerusalem, and entered an upper room. There, they continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, waiting for the promised outpouring of the Holy Spirit. They gave themselves to the ministry of prayer in conscious preparation for the journey of ministry ahead of them. This is a great lesson for us today. For a personal or corporate spiritual energy, we need the upper room lifestyle - a life of devotion, detachment from distraction, and diligence in serious prayer. The disciples chose the upper room to set themselves apart, from possible distractions, so that they could concentrate on their prayers during their temporal solitude. Christ did the same before launching into public ministry. We must also live a life of prayer by choosing a time and a quiet place, and engaging God in prayer and fasting. This is very important for a victorious Christian living. It helps us to measure our journey with God, and gives us spiritual understanding of the demands of the work ahead. Beloved, please do not be too busy to engage the secret place of prayer. Trigger the upper room experience today! *PRAYER:* Dear Father, please create in me the desire to encounter You afresh at the place of prayer. *Amen* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"Those who overcome will eat from the tree of life in paradise."_ *Revelation 2: 7* |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2025 TOPIC: A SPIRITUAL LIFE READ: EPHESIANS 5:18-21 (NKJV) 5:18. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 5:19. speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 5:20. giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5:21. submitting to one another in the fear of God. THE MESSAGE: The passage provides guidelines for living a spiritual life characterised by self-control, worship, gratitude, and humble submission to both God and others. These guidelines include avoiding excessive involvement in physical pleasures, being filled with the Holy Spirit, engaging in worship and fellowship with other believers - in songs inspired by the Spirit of God - and building a heart of gratitude to God as well as living a life of humility and submission. These guidelines, though not exhaustive, are useful for our victorious Christian living. In a pleasure-crazy world such as ours, we need God's word to guard ourselves against fleshly pleasures, some of which have come into the Church today. We need the fullness of the Holy Spirit for godliness and guidance in the face of the damaging effects of worldly entertainments. We need spiritual songs - songs inspired by the Holy Spirit- to both worship and admonish one another. In the face of man's inborn quest for power and dominion, we are counselled to embrace humility and submission as believers. These guidelines require deliberate commitment and consistent attention. In so doing, by the grace of God, we will live a spiritual life. How is your spiritual life? Is it growing or declining? PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to always live a spiritual life, Amen! |
