*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* SUNDAY, 22ND DECEMBER, 2024 _*{Advent 4}*_ *THEME:* THE BRIDE OF THE LORD

*TEXT:* PSALM 45: 10-17 *(NKJV)*

45:10. Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father's house;
45:11. So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He [is] your Lord, worship Him.
45:12. And the daughter of Tyre [will come] with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor.
45:13. The royal daughter [is] all glorious within [the palace;] Her clothing [is] woven with gold.
45:14. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You.
45:15. With gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King's palace.
45:16. Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons, Whom You shall make princes in all the earth.
45:17. I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.

*MESSAGE:*

Our text today depicts a royal wedding which can be likened to the marriage of Christ to His bride, the Church. The bride is advised to forget her people, her father's house and to obey and worship the King (her husband), for he is her Lord. The rich and noble will bring presents to her, and seek her favour. Her husband will admire her beauty and rich attire, when her virgin companions lead her to his palace with joy and gladness (vv. 11-16). In Ephesians 5: 32, Paul helps us to look deeply at the covenant that undergirds Christian marriage - the vow to love each other for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.

Jesus the King loves the Church; He does this because the Church is His beautiful bride, bought with His precious blood. The Church is to be subject to Christ as a wife is to her husband (Eph. 5: 24). Christians must reverence Christ, love, honour and obey Him. We have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness into that of Light under King Jesus. Let us live worthy of our calling.

*PRAYER:*
Lord, help me present myself as a spotless bride to Your glory in Jesus' Name. *Amen.*

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* FRIDAY, 20TH DECEMBER, 2024 *THEME:* JESUS, THE GREAT LIGHT OF SALVATION

*TEXT:* ISAIAH 9: 2-7 *(NKJV)*

9:2. The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.
9:3. You have multiplied the nation [And] increased its joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As [men] rejoice when they divide the spoil.
9:4. For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian.
9:5. For every warrior's sandal from the noisy battle, And garments rolled in blood, Will be used for burning [and] fuel of fire.
9:6. For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
9:7. Of the increase of [His] government and peace [There will be] no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

*MESSAGE:*

In our text today, Prophet Isaiah speaks of the end of the glooming darkness and the ushering of a "great light" which would illuminate the darkness of Galilee when the righteous reign of a coming King would begin. His coming as a great Light makes an outstanding difference, as the loom of darkness gives way to brightness, and clear vision. He is described as the Prince of Peace who will usher in peace between fallen man and God. Note the names and attributes ascribed to Him in verse 6. He will bring order and establish the throne of David as his earthly descendant, with judgment, and with justice. All authority belongs to Him and He must reign until God puts all His enemies under His feet.

As we prepare to celebrate another Christmas, it is important that we remind ourselves that Christ indeed is the Light of the world. Jesus' coming brought great light to as many that walked in darkness. The grace of salvation comes from having a relationship with Jesus. Open the door of your heart to Him, and be a beneficiary of that joy of salvation which comes only from Him. It is a great thing to be reconciled to God, and be translated from the kingdom of darkness to His Kingdom of light. Surrender to Him today and let Him illuminate your life with the Light of His salvation and restore you to the right relationship with God.

*PRAYER:*
Lord Jesus, I surrender to You today. Iluminate me with the light of Your salvation. _*Amen.*_

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* THURSDAY, 19TH DECEMBER, 2024 *THEME:* IS YOUR NAME IN THE BOOK OF LIFE?

*TEXT:* DANIEL 12: 1-13 *(NKJV)*

12:1. "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands [watch] over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, [Even] to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book.

12:2. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

12:3. Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.

12:4. "But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase."

12:5. Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that riverbank.

12:6. And [one] said to the man clothed in linen, who [was] above the waters of the river, "How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders [be?"]

12:7. Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who [was] above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that [it shall be] for a time, times, and half [a time;] and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these [things] shall be finished.

12:8. Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, "My lord, what [shall be] the end of these [things?"]

12:9. And he said, "Go [your way,] Daniel, for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

12:10. "Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

12:11. "And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, [there shall be] one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12:12. "Blessed [is] he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

12:13. "But you, go [your way] till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days."

*MESSAGE:*

Today's passage refers to the resurrection of the dead, tribulation and the judgment that will mark the end of times. There will be a separation of the righteous from the unrighteous. Only those whose names are written in the Book of Life (Rev. 20: 12, 15) will be delivered from everlasting shame and contempt (v. 2). Those whose names are not found will experience eternal damnation.

Brethren, this prophecy is for an appointed time and the time is near. Someday, mortal life will cease and all flesh will be judged and rewarded according to their deeds, whether good or evil (2 Cor. 5: 10). In these times of trouble, if your commitment in walking with God is total and genuine, you are a sure candidate for eternal life. God is particular about the righteous and will not allow any evil come near their dwelling place. Remember, life is transient. Is your name in the Book of Life? What eternal reward are you working towards? Walk in the way of the Lord and in the end you will receive rest (v.13).

*PRAYER:*
Father, help me to live and work in righteousness that my name may be in the Book of Life. _*Amen.*_

*QUOTE FOR THE DAY*
God Says:

_"If you pray to Me in secret, I will reward you openly."_ *Matthew 6: 6*

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN
DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE
CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)
DATE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2024
TOPIC: VICTORY BELONGS TO GOD
READ: DANIEL 11: 36-45 (NKJV)

11:36. " Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.
11:37. "He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above [them] all.
11:38. "But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things.
11:39. "Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, [and] advance [its] glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.
11:40. " At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm [them,] and pass through.
11:41. "He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many [countries] shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon.
11:42. "He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
11:43. "He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians [shall follow] at his heels.
11:44. "But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many.
11:45. "And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.

THE MESSAGE:

The king in our text today epitomises wickedness. He honoured no one and carried on arrogantly as if no one could restrain him. He scattered other nations and even desecrated glorious lands. He will be so pompous and boast against the God of all creation; he will also exalt himself above every other god. He will promote idolatry and obnoxious practices among the peoples of the earth and this will lead to a fierce battle between him and the forces that oppose him (verses 40-45). He will have a sweeping victory in a battle with the South, and greatly enrich himself. However, reports from the east and north will destabilise him and eventually lead to his fall as he will not receive help from anybody. Verse 45 reveals that he will be defeated in the battle and the Lord will triumph victoriously.

In this life, believers are involved in both seen and unseen, explainable and not-so-easy-to-explain battles. But we should be rest assured that victory ultimately belongs to our God. So no matter the battle raging in your life, be assured of victory on account of Christ's finished work on the cross (Colossians 2: 14-15). Victory belongs to our God who has also made us victorious in Christ.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, by the virtue of Your finished work at Calvary, make me victorious in every raging battle in my life. Amen.
