Weah96: And then coercing them into adopting the image of an attractive white male as the object of prayers. It's the Trojan horse all over again. And make them believing everything that happens to them bad or good is because of their Faith in God |
Sloan: What the aim of this money JonaBokoHaram doled out to the visitors from Chibok? Is this not a case of official bribery and corruption? That money was given as a tacit gesture to buy their voices, or tone down their agitation, Jonathan obviously thinks everyone is as fhoolish as himself. What is the money meant for? Is it transportation money? Jona will ruin this country all because he wants to remain president! I pity poor Nigerians who will keep getting served hard until this phoolish government is put down!I think you are wrong...I don't support the president on many issues but in a structured Nation these families should get more....Kidnapped in a school...they could Sue the government for more... Nwoguphillip: Jonathan knows he need not come back in 2015 that's number one , he is sure he will loose the election free and fair or otherwise . He is the most unpopular democratic president ever . He plummeted and derailed through negativity nativity and I'll advise. No proper channel to articulate truisms in his cabinet .In as much the idea of Jonathan coming back to rule Nigeria hunts me, I asked myself one question will the opposition APC puts the Nation above party politics? We shall see, but ain't going to vote the Buhari's, or Atiku and the rest of selfie, selffish, self centered recyclable people in APC cronies. |
bloodyassassin: bastardBut why is Jonathan's supporters so insulting and block heads that reason with their emotions |
Folakemi Ibrahim. It is a given that President Goodluck Jonathan was voted into office through a popular mandate in 2011 that heralded the death of erstwhile President, Umaru Yar’ Adua. But after close to five years in Aso Rock, conducts and actions of the President leave much to be desired. The Goodluck Jonathan’s regime has disappointed the Nigeria populace to say the least, hence he should not return come 2015. The reasons are as follows: 1. CORRUPTION THRIVES It is generally agreed that the scourge called corruption is the biggest bane militating against the growth and development of the country, consequently one expect a well meaning President to tackle the menace of corruption headlong. But in the last 5years, the Jonathan Administration has massaged and breastfed corruption to high heavens. Is it the several missing funds, the massive sharing that reign supreme in the NNPC, the delay in getting rid of the erstwhile minister of Aviation, Stella Odua and the litany of Pension Scams pervading the polity. Are we forgetting something? Didn’t Jonathan campaign for corrupt element like Ayo Fayose? Of course we can’t forget the withdrawal of Abacha’s case even against the Supreme Court’s ruling, the president went further to lay credence to these assertions when he said stealing was not corruption. 2. LACK OF ELECTRICITY Many were of the opinion that if the Jonathan Administration could tackle the Power situation of Nigerians, then he would be celebrated. But that has not been the case. With billions of naira spent on the Power sector and the subsequent unbundling of the PHCN, Nigerians are still in darkness. What is it with the Power sector that we just can’t solve once and for all? President Jonathan promised stable power in December in 2013, later June 2014 and now we are in July. Do you have electricity in your domain? How long are we going to listen to unfulfilled promises? 3. TOO POLITICAL THAN A STATESMAN A popular quote says "politicians think of the next election, statesmen think of the next generation". Obviously President Jonathan does not believe in this. A president enmeshing himself in one political fight after another is not healthy for our politics. Jonathan aligning with the Jang faction as against Governor Amaechi that won an election is not Presidential. Is 16 greater than 19? During a campaign in Ekiti state, the President was quoted to have said: "I would develop Ekiti state, if Fayose wins the election." Is Jonathan not the President of Nigeria? 4. APPOINTMENTS AS COMPENSATION Political offices under the Jonathan Administration suddenly turned to a conduit pipe for compensating politicians. Bamanga Tukur was booted out due to the internal wrangling in the PDP. What did Jonathan do? He appointed Tukur as the Chairman of the Railway Corporation, less than 3 months later Tukur was made Ambassador at large. It is of note that Alhaji Tukur is in his eighties. Where are the young technocrats in this country? Must you compensate politicians with appointments even when they are not competent? 5. SECURITY SITUATION Nigeria has never been so unsafe since the birth of the Nation like it is presently. Bombings, killings, destruction are being record daily and the Military and indeed the Jonathan Government is hapless and helpless. Agreed, the current security challenges predated the administration, but he promised to curb the menace of Boko Haram, hence he was voted massively into office in 2011. The onus lie on him to tackle the madness called terrorism. Obviously he seems incapable. 6. THE CHIBOK INCIDENCE The fact remain that the Chibok girls had been in the hands of the sect for over 3 months, yet the President has not paid a visit to the family of the kidnapped Chibok girls. It took the coming of the Pakistani activist Malala Yussafzai to convince the President to do otherwise. Indecision you might want to say! Should such a figure remain as President? The President neglected families of kidnapped girls for more than 3 months. How insensitive! 7. BACK TO DEBT REGIME The President asked the National Assembly to approve the sum of 1billion US dollars as loan for the purchase of arms and ammunition to boost the fire-power of Nigerian Military in combating the scourge of Boko Haram. From 2010 to 2013 over 3trillion naira had been spent on security without any headway. Even the 2014 budget for security is in the tune of over 900billions of naira. So what is the rationale behind that decision? I thought the era of borrowing is long gone? Is it for 2015? The National Assembly should disregard such move in its entirety. ARE THESE REASONS NOT ENOUGH? |

Sorry brother |
Well, personally I'll give this 62% and I really hate this line... bitter truth is that Many men do not marry for love. Many marry because they need a helper. Because their parents are on their necks, for traditional titles/more respect in the society, even for business purposes. So don't get all mushy and swept off your feet just yet just because one guy just proposed to you. Always remember this, getting married is a destination. Keeping your marriage is a whole new never ending journey. Do not confuse the two of them. |
Women....what type of woman are you? Hope not the ones that turns brother against brother...all this stress starts when one got married |
ayyyyo: hmmm really true i'have been there, my guide was a young man named chuks, a real hustler.Really...I get mad when I hear this kind of prayer...Government waking up to responsibilities to Nigerians in China? Entrepreneurs and freelancers already know that the number of hours isn’t what matters. Rather, it’s the quality of your time and effort that drives success. Here are tips to make the most of every working second so that you can achieve financial independence and lead a fulfilling life: #1Have One Computer Just For Fun Have two computers, one for work and one for play. Get it into your head that on your work computer there won’t be any (non-work related) Facebooking, Nairaland, I gossip blogs,Tweeting, or procrastinating via BuzzFeed or Reddit. If you only have one computer, simply use a different browser for business. #2) Look Out for #1 Being productive is impossible if you’re sneezing and coughing all over your desk. Eat healthy and hit the gym. Take your vitamins. And, please, stay in bed if you need it. #3) Crank Some Tunes Hearing your favorite tunes not only gets your creative juices flowing, it can actually make you more efficient. One study even showed that when surgeons listened to music while working, their speed and accuracy increased. Figure out what songs motivate you and hit play when it’s time to get down to business. [b]#4).Play Nice with Others. Working with other people doesn’t mean having them do your work, it means understanding precisely what you do best and optimizing your time by concentrating on those tasks only. Use the web to find and engage other self-starters who are experts in the areas that aren’t your strong suit. #5) Love Your Lists Before you start working, make a short to do list of everything you need to finish that day to help you stay on point. Prioritize each item. Then cross off completed tasks as you go and enjoy the sweet taste of victory when you draw a line through that final item. #6) Take a Break Having an awful case of writer’s block? Go for a short walk to clear your head. Sitting in your office chair staring blankly at the computer screen isn’t “working;” it’s wasting your time. After you finish each task, take 5 minutes to breathe, stretch, and grab a snack so that when it is time to get back to work you’re raring to go. #7) Reduce the Noise Just because you aren’t typing away in a cubicle surrounded by coworkers chatting about their fantasy football teams, doesn’t mean that there aren’t an abundance of distractions around you. Remember that when it’s time to buckle down, the baseball game shouldn’t be on in the background and you need to stop Instagraming those last few weekend photos. #8.Love It or Leave It. If you genuinely enjoy your career, you’re going to do a better job quicker. Take a long hard look at your current Gig, and if it’s not making you leap out of bed in the morning, it’s time to make a change. If you read every issue of the Wall Street Journal cover to cover, maybe you’re destined to be a cunning business consultant. Love design? Take some online tutorials in PhotoShop and Illustrator. Go down the path to do what you love — odds are it’s what you’re best at anyway. #9) Recharge Your Batteries If you’re nodding off in your chair, do you think you’re ready for a productive day? When you’re exhausted, you move at a sluggish pace, and what takes you minutes wide awake, drags on for hours. A cup of Joe may caffeinate you through the most tired moments, but ultimately there’s no substitute for rest. Get a good night’s sleep and jumpstart your morning with a refreshing shower and power breakfast. #10) Just Stop At some point you have to call it a day. Sounds easy, but if everything is going well, clients will be pounding down your door and there’s always going to be more emails to send and proposals to draft. Obviously if there’s a major deadline you need to meet, work on, but otherwise set a time to pry your fingers from the keyboard and power down — and stick to it. Relax, meet friends, hit the gym, cook some dinner. Ignore your phone pinging away for the rest of the night. Because the ironic truth is, you can’t work efficiently if you’re always working. Have any ideas of your own on how to work more efficiently in a shorter period of time? Let me know on By: Micha Kaufman

Just as our beloved country is plagued with many ills, its mandatory and important to be aware of our individual security. Protecting our properties, family and love ones shouldn't be left to God, God wants us to tend to our security.CCTV,pepper spray, teasers and many other small pros to protect oneself is vital. So how, exactly, do we spot a suicide bomber? He's a young man, sweating profusely, looking around furtively, carrying a rucksack or wearing bulky clothing. He might be from an ethnic minority - but not necessarily. This, according to security specialists, is the most likely profile of a suicide bomber. Experts contacted by The Sunday Telegraph say that a potential bomber may lick his lips, appear nervous and have shaved all his body. He may be wearing clothing inappropriate for the weather and be thrusting his hands into his pockets. If he is carrying a bag, he may be checking it. He may also wear a baseball cap or other headwear that would obscure his face from closed circuit television. These descriptions were given in response to questions about how the public should recognise a suicide bomber while travelling on public transport. But while officials and experts agreed on basic details on the appearance of suicide bombers, most disagreed on how to respond if the public found one. "Speak up and advise fellow passengers," the British Transport Police advised. "If you see someone doing something very dramatic, the train is moving and you can't consult staff, then tell your fellow passengers, speak up." However, Will Geddes, the managing director of the International Corporate Protection Group, which provides security advice, said: "Do not, in any circumstances, speak out. Your actions have to be responsible. If you shout, 'It's a bomb', you will panic him into setting it off." Security specialists and emergency services advised that the public call 999 if possible. Scotland Yard, Transport for London and British Transport Police also urged people to alert staff on the Tube and buses if they saw something suspicious. Asked what makes a person suspicious, a British Transport Police employee said: "I'm not sure. Someone fiddling with a rucksack?" His colleague added: "Generally, anyone suspicious will be with a suspicious bag, package or leave a suspicious unattended item. It could be anyone - not just Asian. One of the bombers was Afro-Caribbean." He said: "If you see something, wait until you arrive at the next station then tell staff. Obviously if something more dramatic happens, you can hit the emergency button. But from the point of view of your safety, and that of fellow passengers, it's better to wait until you get to the next station. If you have a pen and notepad, note what you see." Security analysts gave bolder advice. Robert Ayers, a former US intelligence officer and adviser at the Chatham House think tank, said: "You look for a combination of factors - are they carrying a package, are they nervous, sweating, licking their lips a lot and checking the package? "If it is a radical Muslim, he may have removed all of his visible body hair. Look for a person who looks uncomfortable, anxious and out of place. They would most likely be from a particular ethnic background and aged between 20 and 35. "The first thing you should do is to get away from them and get the police. If you can't escape or call 999 because you are on the Tube, then do not approach them. You'll panic them into setting it off prematurely." Mr Ayers admitted that he would not alert fellow passengers. "If I thought someone had a bomb, I would go to another car. If I raise the alarm, he's going to set it off. If you see him move to detonate it, well you can only hope your life insurance is paid up." Asked whether the public should look for a female suicide bomber, Mr Ayers said: "It's more than likely they would be male." Mr Geddes disagreed. "There is an increasing number of female bombers," he said, "so I wouldn't rule it out." His general advice was to remain highly vigilant. "There is no precise science to spotting a suicide bomber but you can assemble a picture. Be aware of who is in the carriage with you. "Is anyone carrying a package? Where do they put it? Do they leave without it? Don't be afraid of saying 'Whose bag is this?' If no one claims it, act. Be very careful not to cause panic. Wait until the train gets to the station, press the emergency button and calmly suggest everyone leaves. Say, 'I don't know who this bag belongs to. Let's get off the carriage and alert the authorities'. Don't do it in the tunnel. If the driver stops the train in the tunnel you're trapped. If it is something bad, there's no quick escape." He said there were various methods to identify someone was wearing a device. "Are their clothes inappropriate for the weather, such as a heavy raincoat or fleece in hot weather? Another give-away is their physical shape. Generally, average-sized legs mean average-sized body. If they are much more bulky than their legs, neck or face suggest, that might be suspicious. Is the clothing disguising something?" Mr Geddes said a bomber's mental state would present clues. "People who are about to undertake something high-risk will be perspiring. Look at their hands - where are they? In their pockets? Next thing: eyes. Are they furtive? Are they looking at the exit? Are they looking around the carriage? Are they making an obvious attempt not to make eye contact? Be conscious of the whole picture." His final warning was that, after the past two attacks, a potential bomber might try to disguise his appearance. "Any terrorist group that has been watching the news will say, 'These guys are going to get caught in hours. They've exposed themselves to CCTV. They may make more effort to disguise themselves next time."

ultrazone: One thing I'm clear about the igbos is that a lot of them do not understand the yorubas. Many of them have preconceived notions that yorubas are untrustworthy. Unfortunately, yorubas care less. We do not have special hatred or make judgment about any tribe. We make decisions based on situation per time. That's why other tribes think we are unreliable. It's a principle of no permanent friend or enemy.By naijablogger No clashes because From the oyo empire in the 15th century to the glory days of Ibadan in the mid 17th century, from the the kirigi wars to the expansionist Fulani attempts at conquest,we have seen it all and too much blood have been shed in defending every inch of odualands. We Yorubas do not see the ibos or anybody as competitors.we set our sight higher and at our own pace. Every man ,woman and child in yorubaland knows what our society used to be like before the British ,before independence and under the western region. We also know of the present . There are major philosophical and ideological differences between Yorubas and ibos which only the likes of modern ,forward looking and cosmopolitan people like utomi and Fashola can bridge.on the other hand, which people like bode George ,obanikoro ,chukwumerije and peter obi are willing to exploit as was done in the anambra election . But the reason why there are no clashes is the reason why we oyo,Benin ,Ibadan had empires and the ibos did not. We do not see the Igbos as a rival.the clear and present danger is the Federal government regardless of whom the occupier is.Whomever supports that corrupt FG as presently constituted will always be viewed with suspicion . Another is the ever present danger of the feudalists in the north and the acolytes in the south. Unfortunately, the power drunk man at the rock is already dancing to their beat and if not careful, could eventually be caught off guard and hand power to the wrong set of people from that part. Lastly, many of the uches ,chinedus and emekas of today will be totally assimilated into the Yoruba nation in a few generations.their great grandchildren will by then,be bearing full yoruba names and would have lost every single link to alaibo. These citizens would form a part of the shock troops for the future rise of oyo. Sorry if you are offended but that is the way empire builders reason and work. |
MidaxPhoenix: The hidden truth is that the igbos felt betrayed by the yorubas, the igbos have always seen the yorubas as the brothers across the niger but the civil war changed the course of thinking.I am a 39years old Yoruba man, from Oshodi, I have never seen an unbiased write up about the two most popular tribes in Nigeria.Though, not the whole picture but very close to the truth. |
