I feel there should be a law that will prevents workers, employee or staff of any organization, agency or company from getting sacked just anyhow.

My company is an agency under telecoms and branding, so recently a target was roled out with some special promises attached to it for certain period, many of our employees meet up with the said target, so the agency refuses to redeem the promises.
Yesterday the employees showed their grievance on the company whatsapp group, that's when one employee qwerried the interest of the company to the workers, this lead to private messaged I recieved to get the said person sacked.

I was confused I just assume this particular post, this person was also my colleague before I was promoted to supervisor, I replied my boss immediately I can't get him sack since I wasn't the one that interviewed or employed him, and again I don't see anything I can nail him with. I felt there is nothing the guy6has done, sacking him will make me less a human.

My boss (this boss is not our overall boss) had to replied me that, by Monday I should be expecting my sack letter too if I didn't retracts every company property with him.

Why I created this thread was, don't you think we are our own enemies in this country? Could this be the same in other parts of the world?

Following rumours of alleged N1.6bn Canoe contract Scandal rocking Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), the former Amnesty Media Aide, Mr. Wabiye Idoniboyeobu has considered it necessary to clear the air surrounding it to set the record straight.

Wabiye in a statement made available to journalists today in Port Harcourt, Rivers State stressed that he has been hounded to say something concerning the recent drama surrounding the activities of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

So I've been hounded to say something concerning the recent drama surrounding the activities of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Yes, I was the Media Consultant there; but my contract ended two years ago. So I can't speak on their behalf anymore. But as an Ijaw son and a proud Kalabari man, I can stand and defend the truth! So some people will allow me rest too.

Some of you have heard rumours of the #4, 000,000 million canoe contracts. I will simply say the rumour is out there to mislead people and misrepresent the facts. I want to try and answer some unasked questions. To make this easy, I will list out some questions and answer them.

1. What is the N4M stated in the contract for?

Answer: The #4, 000, 000 million is the amount of money (Tax Inclusive) given to the CONSULTANT to EMPOWER each BENEFICIARY. Tax in Federal Consultancy Contracts is 5% Vat and 10% WHT. That’s 15% in total. So the actual sum per delegate is #3.4 million

2. What does the empowerment entail?

Answer: The empowerment is broken into bits. There is the Refresher Course, where the beneficiaries are given titbits about the trade and regular entrepreneurship lectures. This takes about one to two weeks. In this period the beneficiaries would be lodged in hotels and catered for.

After that comes the Land/Store Acquisition. Since the empowerment is expected to be permanent, you are given a space, to have as your base.

Then comes the actual empowerment which takes only a fraction of the awarded sum. The empowerment includes office setup with furnishing and stationery provided; Business Registration with CAC; and the starter pack, which the attached description doc will breakdown for you. The Fiber Fishing Boat is just an Item on that list.

After the empowerment there is a three months Mentorship period, which must be completed before final payments are made.

3. How much of the money is used to purchase the boat?

Answer: After enquiries I found out that 400, 000 thousand naira is the officially approved cost for that item. You can do your research and get your figures, but I think it is fair.

4. Has the contractor been paid?

Answer: No! I gathered that the policy in the office now allows payments for "job done" only. Meaning you must have completed the job to an extent before you will be paid for the part you have done.

Wabiye noted that he has answered four basic questions, adding that “he hope it helps.

“I take it as a responsibility to clarify issues like this. Especially when I understand the facts,” the former media aide declared.

Engineer Silas Adekunle, who is the highest paid Robotic Engineer in the world and also the founder of AR Robots Makers, has decided to shutdown his business operations in UK.

The Nigerian born Robotic Engineer shut down Reach Robotics, in Bristol, United Kingdom and this shocked his UK based robotics consumers. He said he’s going to focus on new things.

Adekunle made the announcement on LinkedIn. One of the Co-founders John Rees confirmed that “the decision has been made to close the business and appoint administrators, effective as of 02/09/2019,” according to a report by therobotreport.com.

“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved. Since founding Reach Robotics at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, we made huge strides in our technology both in terms of our hardware and app development. Former Abia State Governor and Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has condemned in strong terms the attack on the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweramadu in Germany by some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ekweramadu who was invited as a speaker/special guest of honour at the 2nd Annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, was assaulted physically by some members of the proscribed Igbo secessionist group

Describing the action of the mob as uncivilized, unacceptable and barbaric, the former governor urged Ndigbo to respect leaders at all levels.

He noted that the only way the South East region can be prosperous is by embracing dialogue, peace and unity.

Kalu in a statement issued by his media office, urged the Embassy of Nigeria in Germany, the German government and appropriate authorities to bring the perpetrators of the ugly incident to book.

He said, "after watching a viral video of the physical attack on former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweramadu, I was not only disappointed but irritated and disturbed with the action of some members of IPOB.

" The assault on the senator is a slap on Igbo leaders regardless of age, party affiliation and religion.

" The perpetrators of the uncivilized act must face the wrath of the law.

" Senator Ekweramadu is not only one of the Igbo leaders but also a prominent Nigerian and as such should be accorded due respect by all and sundry at home and abroad.

"For the South East to move forward, the people of the region must embrace dialogue as a way of resolving pertinent issues and eschew violence.

While appealing to Ndigbo across the globe to be law-abiding and good ambassadors of Nigeria, Kalu urged Igbo groups to educate their members on the consequences of social vices.
