The dreams of the minister are not in agreement with the facts on ground. how would the production of cocoa be increased not to talk of doubled when most cocoa farmers are selling their land to developers? The only way the minister can realise his dreams is to give incentives to the farmers in the form of subsidy. |
Most people against Islamic banking are just sentimental or ignorant. Sanusi has categorically said times without number that: 1. Islamic banking is a banking model and it will be run as a business without regard to religion. 2. It is a business model that has been practiced elsewhere. This model has been taking in it's entirety to be practiced in Nigeria. It's laws as practiced involves some aspect of sharia law hence the name Islamic banking. 3. Anybody regardless of religion can apply for a license. Therefore, a pastor can apply for a license to run an Islamic bank. 4. There will be no discrimination as to who get a loan. Don't be surprise when you go to the bank, you may deal with a lady in mini skirt. The advantage of Islamic banking is that it benefits developing economies like ours. Lets look at these scenarios: mr A has a business proposal, idea etc. he goes to the conventional bank to source for a loan. What the bank will do is to give him the loan plus interest (compounded) without any concern about his business because he would have to deposit a collateral. With the Islamic banking model, the bank studies the proposal and goes into partnership with mr A based on a contractual agreement on profit and loss sharing. Actual money is not given to him but a manager is assigned to him to oversee the financial aspect of the partnership. If the business is profitable, both share the reward If not both share the loss. Note that this Model will create jobs in the financial sector due to employment of more managers. Also, the more partnership the bank goes into the more profit is made, the more people get employed. The multiplier effect is that the economy grows. |
Elections in Nigeria is not about the population of an ethnic group. It is about interest, structure, the cabal you belong to, how united your group is. Are you ready to rig? Do you have the finance? Can you kill to win? And so on. The last election was a farce. It is what I would call blind rigging. The corrupt elite did not want to see a particular candidate win because they know that would be the end of business as usual. elections are not conducted in Nigeria. Selection is what takes place. |
Make una dey calculate, permutate and extrapolate there. The only thing that will make a sourhern nigerian become president in 2015 is God Almighty. Before a southerner will be president again is if we beg for zoning. Take a cue from the structure of government right now. citizen number 2 to 5 is from the north. The number of senators and reps from the north is about 60% compared to the other part of the country. The country is skewed in their favour. So wake up and smell the cofee. GEJ is just marking time. If he wants to assist, then he has to put his own structure on ground which i doubt he is very weak to do. |
Some men are assholes. Calling of a wedding just because your girlfriend lied about her age! Are you serious? What this means is that you never loved your girl in the first place. People like you are all manly at home but pussies outdoor. We will see what lies that your small girlfriend would bring to the table. |
In Nigeria, if a man steals #10,000, he is charged as a hardened criminal and he is sentenced to between 15 and 20 years of hard labour. But if he steals $1,000,000,000, his people would say he is a political prisoner and he is charged with mismanagement of government funds and sentenced to between 6 months and 2 years in a hospital. After leaving the hospital, he is given a rousing reception and a front seat in a popular church. If he refuses to steal government funds, he is castigated by his people as a failure, a tyrant and may even be pushed out of office. |
What if a sitting political officer say, a Gov, senator, commisioner, etc, uses you to launder money, would you accept, knowing it is illegal? Most of us just pretend to be righteous. It has been confirmed that about 50% of funds generated by the Nigerian govt is actually stolen. Look at people like bankole, ibori, nnamani, etc. These people have companies where Nigerians work. So, are we now saying they should resign? Knowing that the money used in financing their income is corrupt? Most of us here, given the chance would do worst than Ibori. @ poser, ma ka iwe e lo. |
Just because he is from the sourh south, right now, most south southerners believe GEJ can do no wrong. We should note that today, it is our turn. Tomorrow, it will be the turn of the northerner. If we as owners of the golden goose that lay the golden egg cannot utilize the opportunity given to us to better our lot, how much more a stranger? We should hold GEJ accountable today so that tomorrow, we would not be accused of ranting. Then it will be "when your man was there, what did he do?" |
Most people just believe allegations hooked lined and sinker. The poser has not even given any tangible proof, yet people have bought into his story. Some say he gave addresses, yes. But is he really telling us the truth? It is like magic. Performing with one Hand while doing another thing with the other. The more you look the less you see. If these allegations can actually be proven and are true, the EFCC will cash in so as to clip the wings of the ACN. take the case of Bankole, why is the EFCC after him even when the government of the day is trying to cover him? It is because there is proof. What the poser wants is for the government of Lagos to be run through him for it not to be corrupt. The strategy is bring down Tinubu you bring down ACN. |
On the 9th of April, history would be made in our dear country Nigeria. This is because one or two of the following scenario would play out. 1. A candidate from an ethnic minority would be elected as president. A first. 2. A ruling party would hand over the reigns of government to the opposition. A first. 3. A free and fair presidential election would be conducted and the result announced. A first. 4. So much money is expended on an election conducted by an umpire with so much credibility, yet the result is the worst ever in the country. Now, which of these scenario would you prefer? In my heart, I would prefer 1 & 3 for the following reason: 1. I am from an ethnic minority tribe. 2. The northern oligarch would come to realize that power belongs to the people and not to a ruling class, ethnic group or religion. But in my head, I would prefer 2 & 3 for the following reasons 1. GEJ is soo, Compromised right now that he can hardly lift a finger without taking permission from those that are actually responsible for our present situation ( poverty, unemployment, corruption, etc) in the first place. Everybody is now scrambling for his/her share of the national cake. Recently, even Atiku who lost woefully in the primaries and refuse to congratulate the winner till date was calling for dialogue (i.e give me my share). It therefore means that choosing 1 & 3, we would have more of the same while 2 & 3 would bring some semblance of responsibility to the country. 4 would bring ![]() |
Most likely, the poser is not in his senses and very daft. If you don't like someone, that does not give you the right to accuse them falsely. Arrogant mo---y |
This is a ploy to delay the 2011 election. If the judge agrees to hear the case, then, things will remain as they are: PDP cannot present a candidate to INEC. It is now becoming clear how power will shift to the North. |
1025:my beaf with all you OBJ haters is that, OBJ left office since 2007, yet to this day you people still talk about him as if he is still in office. instead of discussing real issues that will affect the life of Nigerians, things like power, electoral reform, unemployment, etc, una dey write long story about OBJ. so what? what if your rumours are true? (it has not been proven to be true, so it is just hearsay), will it affect the out come of the 2007 elections? NO! I beg no waste people time. discuss serious issues. |
una don start again abi? spreading rumours about. wetin una won gain? know this OBJ is by far the best president Nigeria ever had. if you like spoil him name till thy kingdom come. |
once fowl mess, GEJ should investigate! haba, don't you people known what is called delegation of duties?must the president do everything by himself? why do we have the comissioner of police, the inspector general of police, the minister of internal affairs, etc? Please leave the president alone to attend to better things that would benefit the common man. it is when all possible avenues to address the issue at hand, has been exhausted that he should come in. ![]() |
@poser, you are a dictator. You would do worst than IBB. just because someone does not hold your view, you blacklist them? We all know IBB is evil. But he has not been proven guilty in a court of law. Therefore, the highest you can do is not to vote for him or campaign against him. What with freedom of choice, speech, expression and franchise. |
ignorance is a very serious disease. You should know that AIT is a private broadcasting establishment. So long as you pay for service, it is rendered. |
E nice:A leader is not suppose to react to issues but think before taking action. He should have the final say. not just yap anyhow. It's like the president reacts to issues with no planning. |
Mr president has played his hand. Either good or bad, it will be foolhardy of him to withdraw now. Consistency is one of the major quality of a leader. |
otokx:what did Oshoms baba do? Is it because of his developmental programs given the meagre resources at his disposal or is it the one man one vote rally to which he invited IBB? My guess is that your thoughts are on the later. One definition of politics is that "we can agree to disagree". Politics of divide and rule(us and them) has never been successful anywhere in the world. Some people are just being sanctimonious. Given the chance, they would do worst things than Hitler. |
Mr chidichris, forget about laws. We already have so much laws in this country that even the judiciary is having problems interpreting them. Our problem has always been implementation. Give a biased man (Aaondoaka) all the laws on this earth and he would still come out with rubbish. Give a just man no law and he would find a way to do justice. A question for you. Do the british have a written constitution? |
See me see attack sha! Guys, take it easy on me now. I did not ask who prof. Jega was because i can get that from the dailys. I asked "what kind of man" he was (his character). His he that kind that would chop money and add a zero to 1000 to make 10000 (corrupt)? his he that kind that would see a moses and call him musa (religious bigot)? Mr Jarus has provide me with the answer i need that the prof. Is competent. If you have an opposing view, why don't you guys post it (with facts). There is this saying that "the further backward you look, the further forward you will see" |
^^^^ Answer to your questions 1. With the present constitution, GEJ has the right to appoint the inec chairman. 2. We practice a constitution of separation of powers. GEJ has no authority to tell the NASS how to go about its job. His ball stops at the court of sending a bill to the house. Look at the FOI bill, what happened to it? To amend the constitution, you need 2/3 majority in the NASS, 2/3 in the state house of assembly in 2/3 of the states. This would take time and we need our new chair to acclimatize. 3. Agreed that maurice Iwu may have been a saint before his appointment as inec chair but much questions were not asked about his competencies. I am not saying that your concerns are not in order but that since we know the way they play, we can surprise them at their game. |
@princekevo, are you that pessimistic? Don't you know that when the head of a fish is rotten, there is no remedy to the fish? Look at institutions that have excelled (nafdac-akunyili, debt management-mrs obiageli, finance ministry-mrs iweala, etc.) We had people before these guys and the laws governing these institutions were not changed. In countries that practice the presidential system of government, who appoints the electoral chair? With the electoral laws we have now, any credible, strong willed and patriotic nigerian can conduct a free and fair election. Take the case of Ekiti rerun, if mrs Ayoka had cancelled or ordered a rerun of ifaki/ido osi wards, would there have been issues? As i said earlier, what we need is a strong willed, credible, and patriotic electoral chair who can tell whoever, whenever to go to hell |
@Jarus, thanks for the exposé. |
Nairalanders, i am really curious about the kind of man our would be inec chairman is. Can any one please help me out. Is he a kind of man that would stand on his two feet when push comes to shove? Can he deliver or is he another maurice iwu? |
Last time i checked, you were against sls for crucifying the accused bank chiefs without due process. Right now, in the case of fashola vs faceless group, its all good. I rest my case. |
If you agree that "a person is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law" then what happens to the accuser who spoils the good name of an innocent person before even taking his case to an arbiter? I an not saying the governor can do on wrong, but that in an election year, in a country where do or die politics is practiced, they should have presented their case to the house of assembly first. |
Kobo k leg, If your definition of democracy is that an accuse is first of all slaughtered on the alter of public opinion before following due process, then you must really be very ignorant and silly |
quote author=Kobojunkie link=topic=457949.msg6164693#msg6164693 date=1275853231] So, what exactly did they DO WRONG in the way they asked their questions? They filed a petition, and made their questions, all of them know to the people by getting the press, and the people involved my point exactly. Its like shouting thief! Thief! In a market place. All eyes are on the accused and he should get ready to be lynched. when a case is in arbitration, you don't do or say anything to prejudice the case. |
“ In most banks, 65 per cent of the banks’ employees are doing the back office work, while the remaining 35 per cent, which are core staff do real banking job and therefore have to work to pay themselves and the remaining 65 per cent that constitute bulk of the staff. In India, a single company provides back office for eight companies. So, why can banks share costs, he asked. Consequently, he said the CBN has kicked off a shared services project that approaches industry cost in a strategic manner to bring down the banking industry ’s operations cost by 30 per cent in the next three years. This man no dey think straight o! So him want make dem sack 65 percent of workers! |
@sapeleguy, i meant 10 meters not 10 million naira. as for my state, that is not the issue right now. we may come from the same state you know! |
