dabossman: Yes. But shooting and editing a 3-5min music video is not the same as working on a 90-120min movie. Budget, production time, logistics etc vary by a great margin.I agree...my emphasis though was on pictures and creativity from the music industry... |
Tony Spike: What is a good movie? I'd like to take us through these points for easy understanding:Location Make up Costume It's only in Nigerian movies that someone who sits at home all day is dressed very well and wears heels Make up? I don't think we have that...the make-up in nollywood is pancake, lipstick, eyeliners, charcoal and chalk (for herbalists) Location...how I wish nollywood knew the importance of location...and not just limit themselves...this one is a whole topic on its own |
VillageBoi: I completely agree with you on how ridiculously bad the last part of the movie was. It jumped from something 'magical' to 'na lie, we're just carving it from chewing-sticks in our backroom' - boy was I so disappointed.Last flight to abuja was not seriously good. Happy new year |
Brand_new: A good movie for me must be built on 4 solid pillars in which picture quality is one of them.Your last paragraph is my exact thought. The music industry in terms of quality pictures and creativity has taken leaps leaving nollywood behind |
Ishilove: 'Whew' is an understatement. I lasted all of ten seconds before giving up. The video nonetheless is awesome. Their best ever yet!I tried the move and my younger brother who is a dancer stopped what he was doing, cocked his eyebrow and went back to what he was doing, shaking with mirth...Na wa oh! The step looked simple enough oh |
dopeJemi: it has got 2 Be at d Redeemed christian church of God(Maranatha parish)You are in Maranatha? That used to be my church |
esere826: Peter and Paul sure did make an excellent mark with their chereograpyOne dances and sings dance hall, while the other mainly sings...that is what I have noticed. And the dance step? Whew! |
An upside down country where different security agencies work against each other with the elites promoting the division. |
armadeo: i agree but that 2nd pic does not do any justice to karen. besides she looks very ugly in all pics. and ur comment on the little ones is a very loud silence.Hehehe...I can't view the little ones faces well on my phone, hence the automatic exemption. I didn't hail Karen in the second pic, it was the lady by her left and my right. |
Dr. Wise:I aint Ibibio...I am annang...If you have a problem with me, say it. Funny you are the first person calling me Ugly, intruiging...I tell ya |
I think saying 'most' videos would have been more appropriate, surely you remember that we have female artistes as well and few mature males in the music industry... Lagbaja, Asa, Darey, Gospel Artistes etc |
The girl on the right in the second picture looks okay...no comment on the rest. The little ones are automatically exempted of course |
I guess like any other thing that one is addicted to...it makes you love your company more and less of others...and really does not help introverts Before cell phones though there were/are books, games etc, they had/have also suceeded in making one anti-social |
semid4lyfe: Thought I was gonna read one of your reviews/critiquesOne of my reviews/critiques? Have you read any of mine before? No, I didn't start out to critique...just wanted to appreciate a good video |
Now, I wonder why no one is talking about this video...or have they? The way I feel's video is one of the best musical videos I feel proud to watch... If I totally had to direct/produce a musical, I would probably do it this way... The song's message in my opinion, is like M.I's crowd mentality...subtle in an emphatic way. You'd miss it if you aren't paying attention. Is it creepy? To me, no! The video fits the song's message... rtsp://v8.cache4.c.youtube.com/CjYLENy73wIaLQm-QzJOcLycmRMYDSANFEIJbXYtZ29vZ2xlSARSBXdhdGNoYL2qh-r1mYjtUAw=/0/0/0/video.3gp |
Femsyn: U can say whateva, but if a friend gives me a gift and goes ranting abt it on the internet or to anybody else, then I think I wld see him/her as an insecure lowlife and return d gift!!! Can't say hw I'm gonna react if, d same came from a spouse, bt I'm sure it'd be worse!!Exactly! Let the receipient announce and not the giver...'Hey, look what my hubby got me' is better than 'Hey, look what I got for my hubby'...Rihanna also got a car for whatever and she announced it, the record label didn't... |
There is no excuse for a grown person to keep malice. Malice is childish and shouldn't be condoned. Even temperaments shouldn't be used as an excuse...how do you tell your housemaid to bring your food, when your wife is there or why won't you pick your wife's call or answer her greetings? As someone mentioned, most marriages aren't based on love because I refuse to believe that any grown and mature person that truly loves would behave like a teenager...Na wa oh...do it this way, sit this way, smile that way for someone you are spending the rest of your life with? I talk really fast and people that talk fast have hot temperaments because we hate repeating ourselves...infact, the whole family from my paternal side talks fast and amongst them we talk the slowest... I used to get angry when my boyfriend would make me repeat myself, I would tell him 'look, that's just the way I am...accept it'...but it didn't help and even though he didn't force me...I realised a shared joke was better than laughing alone...so, if he didn't/doesnt hear...I would take a deep breath and say it slowly with great effort and I did it till it became effortless, now I repeat myself with a smile even if I have to do it twice or thrice...it's compromise. |
Momma |
Hilarious! My sister asked if I had read your story and that I should check it out... Redmosquito, what can I say? Unexplored themes and plots like yours with a good dose of humor is an A-list...I am not even bothered to check for mistakes self... Minion reminds me of megamind and I find myself liking him...I would have loved to see your story in the movie or best cartoon mode...I doubt most Nollywood actors can capture some of your humorous scenes well... Well done bro |
An interesting thread...thumbs up to Virtuso, SurveyProf, Onatisi and the rest... Just like Nairaland has a Charity Group formed, there can also be a group for Nairaland on-line detectives too, the group can also have a link with banks and security operatives... Let's keep Nigeria clean even if it's one step at a time! |
Principal, Ajuwon Senior High School, Ajuwon, Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, Rev. Olufunke Oladeojobi, has been quizzed by the police for allegedly conducting virginity tests on the pupils. PUNCH Metro learnt that Oladeojobi, who was described as a strict disciplinarian, by her pupils called in a nurse and jointly carried out virginity tests on a group of 10 students last week Monday. It was further learnt that the principal did not seek the consent of the parents/guardians of the pupils before conducting the test on Senior Secondary School 1 pupils. During the test, it was alleged that the principal and the nurse whose name could not be ascertained allegedly dipped their fingers into the pupils’ private parts. After the exercise, which took place at the principal’s office, each of the pupils was given an exercise book. A 15-year-old pupil, who identified herself simply as Ayo, said the principal came into the classroom on the day and announced that all female SSS 1 pupils should converge on the assembly ground. She said the principal subsequently asked that those who had yet to lose their virginity should stand apart. Ayo said, “We are over 600 in SSS 1 but only about 300 of us are females. Those of us that are virgins are 38 and we were matched into the principal’s office with the assistance of members of staff. “They subsequently divided us into three groups of 10, 15 and 13 and I was in the second group. The principal later addressed us and threatened that any pupil who fails the test would have her name written in the school’s black book and would be suspended.” Ayo said she became apprehensive when everyone who emerged from the office where the test was being carried out came out with a sad and disgusting look. She said, “When my class captain emerged from the room, I asked her why anyone that came out of the office looked depressed? I was held spell -bound when she told me that the principal and the nurse dipped their fingers in turns into their private parts, adding that she had started bleeding as a result of the penetration. “Just as I was asking further questions from her, the principal dashed out of her office and announced that she had discovered one student who had lost her virginity out of the 10 students that were examined. “She wrote her name on one of the notice boards in her office and ordered the rest of us to return to our various classes. Two of my friends who had similar experiences burst into tears as they narrated what happened.” Thirteen-year-old SSS I pupil of the school, identified simply as Ujunwa, said the principal was happy that she was able to “catch a promiscuous pupil” as she felt proud to discuss it on the assembly ground the next day. She, however, added that her joyous moments was soon short-lived when the parents of the 10 pupils stormed the school in protest against the development. PUNCH Metro learnt that the pupils rebelled against Oladeojobi last Wednesday as they did a sit-in on the assembly ground protesting and demanding that she should be redeployed from the school. It was gathered that it was the teachers’ intervention that calmed the pupils. Ujunwa said, “The parents of the girl that was said to have lost her virginity who happens to be a member of the Press Club and the other nine parents besieged the school last Tuesday and Wednesday and queried our principal for conducting such an unauthorised test on their children. “The parents then came with policemen attached to the Ajuwon Police Division where they had reported the incident on Thursday and arrested our principal.” When our correspondent visited the school on Tuesday, the school had closed for the term while Oladeojobi’s office was shut. Her telephone rang out while a text message sent to her phone was not responded to. When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Ajuwon Division, Mr. Waheed Yusuf, a Chief Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident to our correspondent. He said the investigation into the matter was still “ongoing” and declined further comment until “investigations were concluded.” But, a policeman attached to the station who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Oladeojobi owned up to the incident. He said, “She confessed that she conducted virginity tests on the pupils and that ‘she was trying to help them.’ We took her in for questioning on Thursday and Friday but she was not detained as my superiors were taking into consideration that she is a civil servant. “We might have some problems if she (Oladeojobi) is to be charged to court for sexual assault because the matter was reported to the police late and no medical examination was immediately done on the affected pupils to use as a proof in the law court.” www.punchng.com/news/principal-quizzed-for-conducting-virginity-tests-on-pupils/ |

Is she not African in the first place? |
What a convenient way of not having to testify...Polictricksters |
Seun, I am interested in your answer to debrief's question...I also remember I didn't see the reply button in one thread once...last month or so...I actually thought it was a network problem...it's only through debrief's 'situation' that I now know that perhaps I was banned too may be for that period... |
Old school...I did this in Secondary School na...almost all boarders then did in my school...we later cleaned the blackened Iron with toothpaste and tissue |
eggy: If what u say is true.. I feel the publishers have truly lost it!!Lol...haven't you seen some inscriptions like 'E no go better for anybody where piss here' and all? Most Nigerians only obey when curses and strict punishments are involved |
babyosisi: Just like this shooting in the USAMbok, don't make me imagine those children in the US...even these ones self...the final moments when they knew there was nothing that could save them...arrrrrghhhhhh |
babyosisi: Went to make money and locked the kids in and left with the keys when there is a 12 year old in the houseThis is from the article: "The parents of the children were said to have locked them inside the room and lit a candle for them as there was no electricity supply. Neighbours said it was the usual habit of the parents to lock the children inside the room whenever they were going to their shop in the evening." So, I don't think the mother is the only one to be blamed... |
babyosisi: Stupid parents, they killed their own children practicallyImagine their cries for help and not getting any. Which makes me wonder if there was there no water in the room? |
k2039: Whose fault. If PHCN gave us un interrupted power supply, would this have happened. For those blaming the parents, IMHO, she went to make money, afterall the kids and family will eat. Though I will advise people to use electric lamps and tourchs, but it just occured to me that in cases where their has'nt beeen light for 3 or more days the electric lamps must have gonne off and not even a lot of people can afford a generator.I don't think it was just the mother that was catering for the children, yes she locked the door and ordered the children in. Lanterns still exist na, so if there is no money to purchase electric lamps there is still the good old lantern. My grouse is putting the candle on bare wood |
I nearly did not read this story not after reading of the tragedy in an Elementary School that left children dead... Leaving a candle on in a house made of wood...what? Not in a stainless plate where the wax would easily fall on? And then as hot as everywhere is, leaving a candle on in a locked room that has five humans in it is simply not sensible... Even if the parents ran a bar, what happened to the mother staying back at night with the children? |
