![]() Are you guys not tired? Are you not tired of snatching innocence from these young'uns by teaching them to look for shortcuts? Are you not tired of giving them false hopes? Yes, the economy is tough and you are looking for ways to make money but it shouldn't be at the expense of morality and integrity and it shouldn't seek to destroy others too, for in helping the blackberry, facebook, twitter, 2go, nairaland young generation to find shortcuts you are pushing us (other generations inclusive) deeper into a quagmire that would swallow everyone, yourself inclusive. A better way would have been to tutor them before the exams and not seek to upgrade their scores. |
druid06: You illuminati? Dude I just can't stop laughing. Do you know what the terminology ILLUMINATI means? How can you be a member of a society that has long passed and does not exist anymore and you're seriously taking this shi-t seriously. You have problems men, you need go see a shrink so they could do some psycho-analysis of that pea sized brain of yours. Go buy books and read about the society ILLUMINATI about how they started and about how the catholic church wiped them out during the period of catholic tyranny. My people die of ignorance. I can sure tell you neither Jay Z, Beyonce nor Kanye are members. They're just using the name Illuminati for publicity stunts so you damn fools could buy their album and listen to their crap. ![]() |

![]() Hello everyone. I have followed this thread from season one last december. Followed the season two and stopped at page 50 or so. I must commend all the ogas, el matteo, surveycash, xzibukz, toluxa1, 2sexy (can't really recall the username) and all the rest.Used CVM for mine, impressed with them. They have also impressed the people around me. To all newbies, there comes a time when you'll just have to try out instead of asking questions continually - this is not a rebuke - but theory is not practice. Mistakes have to be made for lessons and experiences to be learnt. If you are scared, try out with a little fund first but always, always do your research. Remember the key lessons, Seller's rating, feedback, chats with seller and the product's marketability. Have a blessed day y'all |
Liberty Reserve - a Costa Rican-based digital currency service - has been shut down after the reported arrest of its founder. Authorities in the Central American country said Arthur Budovsky had been taken into custody in Spain on suspicion of money laundering, following an investigation which also involved the US. They added that police had raided several of Mr Budovsky's properties and seized his computer servers. The site went offline on Thursday. Liberty Reserve had described itself as being the internet's "oldest, safest and most popular payment processor... serving millions all around a world". It had allowed users to open accounts and transfer money, only requiring them to provide a name, date of birth and an email address. Cash could be put into the service using a credit card, bank wire, postal money order or other money transfer service. It was then "converted" into one of the firm's own currencies - mirroring either the Euro or US dollar - at which point it could be transferred to another account holder who could then extract the funds. The service promised that payment transfers were "instantaneous" and it charged a maximum of $2.99 (£1.98) for each transaction. It also offered a private messaging facility which it said was "much more private and secure than email or instant messenger services". Security expert Bryan Krebs said Liberty Reserve's features had made it a popular among cybercriminals who wanted to move funds and make payments anonymously. However, others said they had used the service for legitimate means, viewing it as a cheaper alternative to PayPal. They fear they will now lose money still sitting in its accounts. Refused licence Costa Rica state prosecutor Jose Pablo Gonzalez announced news of the raids on Saturday. He said that in addition to Mr Budovsky's arrest, 10 other suspects were being investigated in connection with international money laundering. Liberty Reserve Mr Gonzalez said that Costa Rica's financial regulator, Sugef, had refused to issue a licence to Liberty Reserve in 2011 after raising concerns about how it was being funded. Although the company Liberty Reserve subsequently closed and dismissed its employees, the prosecutor said Mr Budovsky had continued operating his money exchange service by running it through five other Costa Rican businesses. The same year, he said, New York based officials asked Costa Rica to investigate. Mr Gonzalez said offices and houses linked to Mr Budovsky had been raided last week, and that documents and three vehicles - including a Rolls Royce - were seized. The US Department of Justice's website says that in 2006 Mr Budovsky was found guilty of operating a separate illegal money transmittal business - GoldAge - from a Brooklyn apartment when he used to live in New York. However, when asked about the latest arrest, a spokeswoman said she could "not provide any guidance" at this time. The BBC has also asked the Spanish police for more details. Lost money According to Mr Krebs' security blog, the closure of Liberty Reserve has the potential to "cause a major upheaval in the cybercrime economy". He said there had been "anxious discussions" about the news on several internet forums after fraudsters and malware sellers found themselves unable to access their accounts. But others say they used the service for legitimate reasons, and are concerned about the lack of information. They include Mitver Holdings, the firm behind a facility called ePay Cards. This allows consumers outside the US to buy goods from stores in the country as if they owned a locally-issued Visa or Mastercard credit card. The firm behind ePay cards says it now faces an "uphill battle" to make up potentially lost funds The company - which has offices in London and Texas - used Liberty Reserve as a way for its customers to charge up their "virtual credit cards". Co-founder Mitchell Rossetti said he had about $28,000 sitting in his business's Liberty Reserve account at the time the site went offline. "We used Liberty Reserve because it was quick, efficient and secure," he told the BBC. "Now, we - and thousands of others who were dependent on it - have been left with nothing to look at except a blank webpage, and nothing more to go on than reports from the Costa Rican press. "We need to know if our assets have been seized and what would be the requirements to get the funds returned." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22680297 |

Ayoobscom: Is there any christian on Nairaland?Mary did not go to school nor was she a Lagosian... The fact that you are for wearing of the hijab does not mean you should castigate everyone else. You know it to be true that christianity frowns at immodest apparel...you wanting to take a jibe at christianity doesn't mean you should lump every other person not being muslims as christians...I know you know of atheists, agnostics, traditional worshippers and free thinkers and all other people, so why the lumpy statement especially when you lot detest the statement 'all muslims are terrorists'?...and not everyone who is not a muslim dresses like a LovePeddler...there are decent dressing people that cut across other religions too. In the end, it all boils down to an individual's choices, wants and desires... I support the state's government decision not because it is 'hijab' but because they have simply decided to shun sentiments and act right...I'd support them even if it was something that affected christians or other religions too. If our elders and the older generation used sentiments to heat up the polity, I believe we should be wiser. |

Amusaopeyemi: Thought this killing of idemili's scared python was just a joke in Chinua Achebe's arrow of God and things fall apart. No fiction novel is truly fictitious. You learn about a person's culture from a book which has to stay as true as possible. Characters can be fictitious but the character's actions will try to stay true...in essences, you weave a non fiction and fiction to make a story...the scale depends on the genre you have decided on... |
I hate silly coincidences...shoo? Watched the Iron Lady, the online media started talking on Margaret Thatcher and her decisions on the falklands and then she died. Re-read 'Arrow of God' by Chinua Achebe yesterday where Ezeulu's son in his struggle between his tradition and his 'christian' conversion put the idemili python in a box seeking to kill it, commiting sacrilege. The strange thing was that the occupants of the house knew that there were two pythons living in the roof of the kitchen... Now, I am reading of this Idemili python sacrilege... The question to ponder on is 'this snake doesn't bite or harm anyone and this has been on-going for generations, why not?' I know the pythons found in Akwa Ibom and Cross River are killed and I know those ones will harm you but why not the Idemili Python, what makes it different apart from the theory that it is a royal snake? I seek to know and not be insulted |
BBC The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the "morning-after" pill without a prescription for women aged 15 and over. Proof-of-age will be required to purchase the drug, Plan B. The decision comes a month after a judge ordered the drug to be made available to girls of all childbearing ages. The FDA said its decision was not a response to the court ruling, reports the BBC. Reproductive rights groups approved the FDA move but called for fuller access. On Tuesday, the FDA said its decision was in response to an amended marketing plan from the drug's maker, Teva Pharmaceuticals, to sell Plan B without a prescription to women 15 and older. But the move comes days before the deadline to comply with a New York district judge's order to make the drug available over the counter to girls of all childbearing ages. The judge criticised the Obama administration for imposing an age-17 limit. In 2011, the FDA said it had concluded the "morning after" pill could be safely used by girls of child-bearing age. But in an unprecedented move, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius overruled the agency. She said there was not enough evidence from all potential ages to support removing over-the-counter restrictions. The Obama administration was accused of bowing to pressure from social conservatives. The reproductive rights group that brought the lawsuit said on Tuesday it will continue its legal fight if need be. Lowering the age limit "may reduce delays for some young women but it does nothing to address the significant barriers that far too many women of all ages will still find if they arrive at the drugstore without identification", said Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/us-approves-morning-after-pill-for-15-year-olds/146460/ |

![]() When I saw the title, I opened it eager to read and see the 'supposed' furore on social networks...was quite disappointing that it was just Nairaland and Punch that 'social networks' referred to. As much as I like the fact that Nairaland is getting to be a social network force to be reckoned with, I still think there are other notable social networks too...no, I won't name them. Any journalist worth their salt should research well before going on to write an article... As a 'mediocre' editor, I would have asked that this kind of article be re-written but what do I know, Punch Newspapers must have better editors where 'social networks' is Nairaland and then as an afterthought Punch. |
THE interview granted by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to Qatar-based private broadcasting channel, Al Jazeera, stirred a heated debate on social networks on Sunday. In the interview conducted by Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow, Adeboye justified his ownership of a private jet, saying it is necessary for efficiency in his assignment. Adeboye is one of the increasing numbers of Pentecostal pastors in Nigeria that have acquired private jets. Many Nigerians have criticised these pastors arguing that they are being insensitive to the poverty among their members. But Adeboye while fielding questions from Adow, said acquiring a private jet was a necessity for him. "There are things you need, which you must have if you are to be efficient. If you have to oversee churches in 160 nations, you can't do that on a bicycle," Adeboye said. However, Adeboye's justification for his ownership of a private jet has divided Nigerians on various social networks as some shared his opinion while many opposed him. A member of a popular online forum, nairaland.com, Onyianyi, argues that it was wrong for Adeboye to own a private jet when the majority of his members live below the poverty line and wallow in abject poverty. He says, "I'm not a member of any of these Pentecostal churches but Adeboye is one pastor I respect so much. This time around he got it wrong, there's no reason for a man of God with millions of impoverished followers to be cruising in a private jet. "After all, are they more committed in this ministry than Jesus Christ? Our Lord Jesus never used a private boat or a private camel during his time. Yet he could easily command one to his usage. Christ, though very rich, chose to live a poor life so that his message can easily get across to the poor." Apparently replying Adeboye on his explanation that he cannot oversee his churches in 160 countries of the world using a bicycle, a member of the forum, Olumide, says Adeboye could simply connect his subordinate pastors manning the churches overseas via video-conference. "As if he (Adeboye) doesn't have the money to video-chat with the pastors of the branches of the church! At least, that would save him money," Olumide notes. Commenting on punchng.com, a reader, Zoemed, says Pastor Adeboye's defence was not good enough. Zoemed explains, "I had expected a better defence rather than this 'I need a plane to do a better job of supervising churches under my ministry'! What are the roles of Subordinate pastors? The Catholic Archdiocese of New York alone could buy many jets for the Pope but they spend most of their money on helping the poor, providing hospital care and welfare for the downtrodden. "Our Pentecostal churches cannot even build hospitals and affordable schools to supplement the little we have." Rising in defence of Adeboye, a visitor to punchng.com, Adeola, says the pastor's acquisition of a jet was necessary, given the erratic services provided by airlines in the Nigerian aviation industry. She notes that flight delays and cancellations were a setback to Christian ministry, adding that the work of a pastor was more tasking than that of a nation's President. She says, "For a man to visit 160 countries in a year is never a joke. Why shouldn't he have a jet if his church can provide it? You and I know how 'sound' our aviation industry is. For a minister of God who is billed to preach in a particular place with other programmes following to have a flight delay or outright cancellation without prior notification, is a loss that cannot be quantified. "Holding of crusade is different from political gathering, which many of you understand better. The mandate given to these ministers is urgent, the time is short and it covers the entire world. This is more than that of the President. Leave them alone as they will give account of their stewardship to God." Reacting sharply to the critics of Adeboye, Genes Donald, also states on nairaland.com, that Pastors must not live in penury all in the name of propagating God's word. "I go with you sir (Adeboye). These people think we should ride bicycle, just to propagate God's word? Who says pastors must be paupers? Some people just reason from the anus! Ride on Pastor," Donald says. On punchng.com, Macsam states, "Having a jet is not bad for the RCCG, and it doesn't mean that they are not doing charity work. For instance. I have benefited from RCCG scholarship. "I didn't know any pastor I just obtained the form and went for the interview. I went to my village for something; I just got a call that I was selected. They pay me N250,000 every session and they do it for so many students every year. So stop condemning RCCG for acquiring a jet, it is for efficiency." mobile.punchng.com/output.php?link=http://www.punchng.com/news/private-jet-adeboyes-defence-stirs-debate-on-social-networks/ |
dabrake: Akwa Ibom people will never stop daydreaming, like the average Niger Deltan(except Edo indigenes), they are just too lazy. They believe one can only make it if offered a job in a petroleum outfit, bank or political rallies. Imagine one idiat telling me he's looking for a business that will fetch him 100% net profit one month after take off. They have a very stupeed attitude towards money. I, alongside 2 of my classmates, was arguing with some Uyo dudes when one of my guys asked "what if your state(na Igbo guy) starts enjoying power supply 247 courtesy of Akpabio?" and the guy replied "wetin I wan do with light. I dey find job you dey tiok(talk) light . . . The only thing this guy is good at doing is to shout "for life" when a Man. U. fan scream "juu-nai-taeee(united)??!!!". I asked the other one what he will do with #20million and the guy replied me almost immediately- "I ko yus kari diat money ko buy tiu rensh rofa spiort yeep come dey fleix tiaun. . .(i go just carry that money go buy range rover sport jeep come dey flex town. . .)". This is someone who can't do without asking for salt, toothpaste, matches . . . Daily.100% net gini? Why didn't he say 150 or 200%? Of course, the average a.k man would rather use the money to buy and drive in a tear rubber car and then build a gigantic house than to invest or start a business with |

For christ sakes, Lancelot is under fire too for not having the guts to do the right thing. Tell him he did wrong to both women (that's if the bride wasn't aware), tell him he did wrong to his unborn children, tell him it was not a christian thing to do. If he chooses to use the African way of life thing, tell him that curses work in Africa too! If he was in America, the press would have not only destroyed him but the lives of the two women too... |

The marriage was retrogressive and yet he kept on with the lies...'I am at a location' 'take this money, I will be back next week'... Why didn't he dissolve the retrogressive marriage before moving ahead to a progressive one? And the church's response? SMH...principles have gone to the wind.
