solomon111: This is bullshitt.Which part of 'this is my opinion' didn't you see? And what of my suggestion? I didn't criticize for the fun...Maku can do other things that can also be beneficial...he can liase with ministries to bring to light their various challenges and or knowledge....I have said anonymous reporting can be done...let us see both the good and the bad...He is pandering too much to the near perfect...again, my opinion |
In my opinion, I see nothing beneficial in Maku's governance tour. When he goes to a state, he is a guest of the governor of that state and so is duty bound to promote the state...there is no state that is perfect...yet, all I read are how the government of this state is doing this and that...of a truth, a working governor's project will always be visible...can you close your eyes to good roads, water or other governmental projects? The tour is just a way to spend money...it is most often going to be biased anyway. A better way at show-casing a working or not government will be to send in people anonymously...who will give their reports with evidence like pictures and audios...so, it doesn't seem as if any governor is being witch hunted... |
Mad Cow: [b]I also support the rejection of that bill..Exactly what I had in mind. We do not even have a proper database....NIMC has been talking about doing just that but it still remains to be seen how effective their actions will be...we had an opportunity during the National Identity Card Scheme but it became an avenue to pocket huge sums... How many systems does NIMC have, do they even have a R& I.T Dept that will seek to ensure that the various databases are merged and how loopholes can be closed? Why did NCC allow the SIM registration to collapse? Who wouldn't want turn to an unemployed graduate just to collect money since there are no checks in place? |
May review consumer protection law THE House of Representatives Wednesday rejected a bill, which sought to make provisions for monetary incentives for unemployed graduates in the country. The proposed legislation, titled: “A Bill for an Act to amend the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Act, Cap. N28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, by creating specific functions and objectives for the Directorate to specifically cater for unemployed graduates of tertiary institutions,” failed to scale second reading when it was put to vote by the Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has also endorsed a bill seeking to overhaul the Consumer Protection Council. The bill, sponsored by Daniel Reyeneiju (PDP, Delta State), seeks to amend the Consumer Protection Council Act to modify its composition; widen the scope of its functions and powers so as to provide for a broader and more effective Council. Sponsor of the bill, Arua Arunsi, had, during his submission on the floor, said the objective of the bill was to design implementation programmes to combat mass unemployment of graduates that are between the ages of 18 to 35 years and also between third to fifth year of post-graduation experience. According to him, the bill also seeks to pay certain amount of allowances to the unemployed graduates in Nigeria. But opponents of the proposed legislation pointed out that the provisions of the bill failed to meet critical criteria of filling gaps inherent in the existing laws it was seeking to amend. A member, Ibrahim El sudi, noted that the bill had nothing new as a similar programme for unemployed graduates was already in existence at the NDE. He added: “There is a graduate attachment programme that does exactly what this bill is seeking. “Even, a similar programme exists for non-graduates on the social aspect for unemployed non-graduates at the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NISTF). What should happen is for the authorities to strengthen these programmes”. Also, James Faleke said providing such monetary incentives could only compound the economic challenges facing the country. According to him, since the Nigerian economy was not production-based, industrial revival efforts would be defeated. “Rather than turn our unemployed youths into lazy ones, government should channel the monthly stipends towards the revival of our industries”, he said. The bill equally seeks to repeal the Consumer Protection Council Act and re-enact the Consumer Protection Agency Bill to provide for the establishment of an investigation unit; ensure effective civil action for damages and other unfair or deceptive practices”. www.theguardianmobile.com/readNewsItem1.php?nid=11171 |
He deserves all the glory. Thank God for your life, sister! |
Oga Madam, you do not need 100 political parties to defeat PDP lest there be confusion...you need just one.I see you have got your groove back! |
tripledub: @Enoquin, thanks dear. I ll ve a talk with my mum on d idea of getting a flask. I never taught of this before. I just pray my dad don't start eating outside cos of this.I don't think your dad would start eating outside if your mum explained that perhaps the soup got spoilt sometimes because of maybe the way your father dished. You are welcome |
Some women don't like others messing with their pots of food, others don't mind. Perhaps, your mother is among the former or perhaps your father leaves the pot 'area'/kitchen untidy...like -as you said- not properly closing the pot etc. Let your mother dish your father's food out into a food flask or out into a smaller pot so whatever he does there is none of her business. |
mimifonwon: why does it look like you keep trying to hold their hands, thats kinda weird and kinda questionable.. just saying saw it too...hand or waist. Mbok, it's not bad belleism oh...don't know about questionable but weird? sort of |
virtuoso01: Imagine GT Bank deducted 360 Naira from my account in January alone for sms.And here I was complaining that they charged me N140 for January...I saw it and was like 'ehn?' As soon as I have the time, I will call them up for an explanation on how many times I got an alert for me to be charged N140 and how much they charge per SMS... |
Was he married to the mother of his child or were they co-habitating? What Pastor would knowingly allow an unmarried couple stay together because they've known each other for a long time? |
This has always given me food for thoughts. I don't think it's the obligation of an elderly sibling to train the younger siblings except when circumstances are odd. No parent should try and make a child feel guilty as regards money spent on them. Why do you think families groan under so much financial burden with hardly any break in sight? #35,000 minus #10,000 leaves #25,000. This #25,000 is to cover transport, feeding, corporate wears and toiletries, rent and brother in the university training...haba! The joy of any parents is to see your child become well grounded in all aspects...that child can then willingly sacrifice for the parents. Yes, there are ungrateful children so are there unfeeling parents. At 27, you should have some money saved for your own future family, so as to help your husband financially too. If you were a guy, I would have suggested you move out but as a lady who believes in staying in your parents' house till you move to your husband's, I think having a talk will be the best. No need of carrying that bitterness in you, it could lead to frustration. Tell her how you appreciate all she is done (I know your uncle trained you but still parents like to be told of how much they have sacrificed). Be calm and a bit submissive oh and that you want to be able to save out of your meagre salary to further your education, tell her how the country is not treating Bsc/HND candidates well and that for you to get a higher salary, your workplace as well as others prefer those who have undergone professional courses and also have their Masters...so, she should suggest ways you can save towards the project. Tell her you are sorry for misunderstanding her all this while (yeah, don't worry...it's for the peace of your home....you have to stoop to conquer) Now, as an elderly sister...call a meeting with your younger ones. Tell them how things are not really going well for you and that you will like some help. *Ask your brother what he can do to help alleviate the burden. *Plan with your sister and decide how much to keep aside for food. Make sure you buy some things in bulk to alleviate too much spending on food. *If you didn't use to help around in the house, start doing so. *Always speak to yourself on how you will overcome and how unique you are. *Of course, God should always be in the equation Wish you the best! Cheers |

How would you have explained to your father the extra two years, carry-overs? I am sure you have younger siblings, if you do, bear it in mind that just like your father, they too are disappointed in you? Even, your late mother was but love probably conquered the disappointment and I am sure she was also mindful of what people might say...so imagine the extent your mother went in covering your lapses... Your father is not obliged to fund your Masters...peradventure, your father wasn't alive, how would you have funded your masters? So, if he even funds it, you should be grateful... Now, before your father brought up this 8 years ago deceit issue...it will be mainly from the fact that you haven't changed...haba! For 8 years, you couldn't win back your father's trust? Michael has moved on...you with hate hasn't and to what end? |
Maxymilliano: Ma'am, Nigeria politics is about 'He who lives in glasshouse shouldn't throw stones...Perhaps, the glass needs to be shattered...and then let the flying shards hurt whoever gets in the middle... |
