I think Ogugua herself should reject the post, this is because it has crossed from mere disagreements to personal matters. Her rejection will not make her less intelligent or achieving and I don't see it as cowardice. The fact that most people did not know the contestants well shouldn't be the fault of the contestants but of the people who had the opportunity but didn't make use of it...I mean all the information brought up against her now has always been in the public and could be accessed, so why was it not? It is quite disheartening that despite efforts being made by some igbo people, they have been shouted down...pray, how does all this unite the igbos? It is good to have dissenters but there are lines that shouldn't be crossed... |
senbonzakura_kageyoshi: THANK YOU! I wouldn't have noticed all those errors if you hadn't pointed them out, especially the Chairman/Registrar thing. I knew it wasn't a chairman but I wasn't quite sure what the title was so i decided to use Chairman while writing then find out the actual title later. Guess it slipped me when i posted the story. It's okay dear... I suggested 'cackle' because you called them witches. It's also a kind of laugh albeit shrilling kind. That in my mind's eye is what those girls were doing, not so? As I said as regards the calculator...I won't let you off lightly...you can hear the slight tap or hard tap (sound associated with) of a calculator and that's not even for all calculators self...why I said you shouldn't aid most Nigerians especially the young ones for whom impressions and expressions are not yet cast in stone is because of expressions like 'do/did you 'hear' that smell?' Wrongful use of verbs. Again, remember only you fully understand some expressions and its intents...don't assume your readers would. Now if you wanted to write a somewhat faulty English expression deliberately, you would still have to explain at the end of the person's speech to let your readers know how deliberate it was. Remember, that a writer's job and burden is indeed not light...it is why we are told to cut, slash, edit coldly like a surgeon...the reason being the first attempt is always filled with passion and mistakes...it is only when you become a surgeon that you see those mistakes... Take care and continue writing...let the creative juice flow. Peace |
KSB, Wunmi Obe, Alariwo and the rest...LMAO Hapharzard is Kurukere - Darey |
I enjoyed it...but I have a few corrections. Sorry, I may not see all the mistakes as I read it with my phone but still, these are the ones I saw. Please, the corrections are to make you better at writing oh, bearing in mind that a writer knows that his work will always be critiqued and as such to bear those criticisms in good faith. CORRECTIONS In that particular accent 'we know' (known) as waffi. The gate 'knackers' (italicized or have inverted commas to let people know it is not English) had made it T was (It was or T'was) I know it's probably a typo but be careful to cross your T's and dot your I's especially as this was meant for submission. The person 'should' (would) be... Tenses I have a little problem with the bracket that has Chairman of JAMB, I think Registrar would be appropriate? And if you insist on using that phrase 'and recognizable by the', why not use 'and even a (special) recognition by the' We're (were) here for an academic...Tenses Excuse me';' (,) were planning (on) how to smuggle and sometimes, cackling quite loudly (since you call them witches, then let them cackle) *Now, as you took us into your world, I found it hard to believe that those 'witches' were 'laughing' during a prayer...I am sure they would have been 'giggling' loudly launch into (a) full time *Do you 'hear' calculators? (You know why I won't overlook this? It's because most Nigerians are guilty of using these verbs wrongly...let's not continue aiding them) People began to 'look itchy' (fidget) 'Runz' (the same issue with 'knackers') Again, I enjoyed the piece... |
yamakuza:I am sure you saw the disclaimer at the end of the post. I aint into animations...but I will draw her attention to what you have said. Thanks on her behalf |
I agree with no preconditions before dialogue. None of their members should be released and there should be no payment. Who will pay for the ones they have killed? There is no guarantee that bombing will stop since there are already splinter groups...look at what happened with kidnapping...it lived on after the militants agreed to a truce. And the FG should also bring forth its own delegates for the negotiation...if they agree to drop their pre-conditions...and let's know who they are... |
I wonder why we have so much views but no comment? Why do most people want solution yet do not want to help another @landanski you said blender 3d is good but what about stuffs like corel draw and fireworks or even the one they call adobe illustrator ??Plus are you into animation yourself?? (Am using ma sister's phone hence the username) |
PROUD-IGBO:Well annang and ibibio are not so different...Efik is a little bit complex and roamntic (lol)...these are not the major three...Efik is not even major in Akwa Ibom as it is in Calabar/Cross River. Akwa Ibom still has the Oron language, Eket and other minor tongues (these ones are rarely understood by the average annang or ibibio person) You mum would be speaking a combination of Ibibio with a sprinkle of annang. Abia is close to obot akara and ikot ekpene. Ikot Ekpene is annang...I am not sure of Obot Akara's dialect |
tdickson: I think both of them are anan tribe, ibibio keep watchinShe hails from the same federal constituency with Ekere and had served in the administration of Obong Victor Attah as a commissioner in the state Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission (EARCOM). I told someone earlier this week that the next deputy governor will be from the same place as Nsima Ekere. Meanwhile, I heard that Nsima didn't do much in his place...the road leading to his village is pretty bad and since 'money-dropping/sharing' is used to guage a politician, he was guaged low due to his tight-fistedness (hearsay oh)...the only thing he did according to his clan person was to stop oil bunkering... Now in my opinion, Akpabio didn't do much in the first term but is working in the second term...just like Tinubu paved the way for Fashola, so is the case with Attah and Akpabio...one doesn't have to rubbish the other and let's not be carried away both men have their faults...after all dem dey chop the money wella... I agree with the industry thing...akpabio has concentrated more on roads and water fountains and less on employment creation opportunities... This is my opinion oh and I stand to be corrected without the insults abeg |
For reasons I cannot fathom, this post made me bubble with laughter...what with the reponses and what not... @OP...almost every parent wants to do have a unique parenting but we should be careful that unique doesn't turn to something else. Children will always talk, your son could innocently tell his friend about your manliness and a grown up passing by (either a teacher or parent(s) of your son's friend) can over hear and your intentions could be turned into something else... Even though you are trying to be free, puberty for them will bring about a whole lot of rules and restrictions because they would be trying to understand their bodies and would not want anyone barging in or something... Please on this one, agree with your wife and set some sort of boundaries...let them knock...and wait for an acknowledgement before entering your room...and do same to them... |
kelvincoll: True are the words you speak, I had been in Uyo all d while but the difference is u can't compare Uyo roads wit d@ of lagos. Uyo has got very gud motorrable road networks and quality road, that somtimes u jst feel like trekking compared to the even the 'mega cities' part of lagos. D Govt of lag shud consider all dese bfore d ban. Fix d inners roads and den u can cast, bind and rebuke okada!!!I agree that Uyo has good roads but some inner roads are still terrible. Again, I'd argue that it's because Uyo is somewhat smallish, that's why you'd trek and not because the road is smooth. The road from Ikot Ekpene to Essien Udim is extra smooth, but if the government bans bikes in Ikot Ekpene just like they did in Uyo, no one would attempt to trek to Essien Udim And yet I have stopped using bikes in Lagos since last year when I went home during December...the roads are bad but it's not only Fashola's responsiblity, what are the local government chairmen doing about the inner roads in local communities? |
I guess you will all have to bear it for a while...when it happened in Uyo last year, it was crazy at first with high fares and arrogant keke drivers...The average akwa ibom okada rider turned their noses up at kekes when it was first introduced, they turned in their bikes for N50,000 and decided to stay home. The few riders that went to cooperatives or business men for hire purchase gave crazy fares and were arrogant about it. When you stopped them, they would ask if it was a drop you wanted, if you shook your head, they'd drive off. The only good thing is that Uyo is not that big and except you have to go to the hinterlands, you can trek to where you want(the central place 'plaza' is just like Osodi - where you can link to almost anyplace you want)...but with the influx of the igbo guys from Abia, prices stabilized. You have to give it to the Igbos, they know how to penetrate a market and are willing to do anything (I mean this as a compliment) to survive. |
I check these websites in this particular order when I wake: www.punchng.com www.theguardianmobile.com www.vanguardngr.com www.thisdaylive.com (I check this one last because it has too much graphics and their news order is different from the others...) www.gmail.com (had to disable the phone alert function as group messages from linkedin.com was always too distracting) Facebook when I am angry about the state of the nation and want to spill or when I want to write something mischievious especially after a premier league match or just send happy birthday wishes to friends) www.google.com (to research on things I had noted in my to do list) www.nairaland.com is the last website I check and then I go offline. Towards evening, I check nairaland and that keeps me company till I switch off my phone Once in a while I log on to www.linkedin.com,twitter, try my yahoo mail, try www.naijastories.com to check if it's finally mobile compatible (still not- @myne white...hope you see this) |
That's why I also said 'mutual friends'....mutual friends or even class mates....if you had 10 classmates in your class, one would definitely be on facebook (worst case scenario) and would know the whereabouts of one or two friends in class....these one or two friends would also know the whereabouts of one or two and it goes on and on....No one is totally in isolation. On an aside, the abortion may not be an abortion in the real sense, it could also be a big illness that could nearly take her life. I know this because I have had the same about someone before and she turned out to have TB...nearly died but for God's grace and mercy. |
Why not try facebook...even though you might not find her...you could find mutual friends and link her through them... |
The first pic is Ifombo and Isib ayop - Annang Don't know the second The third is udara Missy_B: What about this? This is eben...can be eaten raw, cooked, roasted alone or with corn The last one is called Shawa-shawa here.....I don't know if it's a native name or something like that |

The man says the food barely lasts two days...on that alone 40k is too much for two mouths...what do they eat the both of them that warrants 40k? How many women fill their gas cookers themselves with the food money given to them? I also didn't know that electricity bill and fueling was part of food money oh Okay what exactly does she buy...whole chicken, how many? Iced fish, how many cartons? Garri...one bag. Beef, how much? Rice, one bag. Beans, half or one bag. Yam...if they live in Lagos...Mile 12 should take care of that...if she stays in any other state...there will always be a market where she can get yams. Fresh tomatoes, how much really? Seeing that I get fresh good tomatoes 400(I don't do rotten ones) naira exclusive of peppers in uyo and then mixed with tin tomatoes...the stew takes me for two weeks. Note that: I feed my sister...my boyfriend drops in every evening...her friends drop in to eat...and I use less than 40k per month...granted buying in whole sale could deplete your purse 'at first'...I buy in wholesale...but this means you won't have to need the same 40k/month...in fact you will have excess cash overtime...so in my own opinion...40k is okay for the both of them. So @op...as people have suggested...try to check her budget and cash flow |
@Zikkyy...your reply was lovely...and to think that most people did not understand the irony therein. It's one thing to read, it's another to understand the underlying meaning of the written words. Are you by chance a writer of some sorts? |
I must give it up to Jesoul and Zikkyy...Jesoul for always sticking by her Rom 14 and Zikkyy for trying to be rational above it all. I keep saying to people around me that if God defines Christianity the way we all do...then none of us will make heaven. Because whether we like it or not...we are selective of the practices that suit us...be they in the Bible or not! And to the christians that strive for perfection through humility (not self-righteousness and I know it all attitude)...my prayers are with you. May God help us all. |
Ihedinobi: Actually KDK was slightly wrong. Daniel was a true Jew and as such would not have accepted Nebuchadnezzar's worship. I used to be stuck on that too.I didn't say KDK was absolutely right...I said there was a 'similarity' in the three answers. As of following the book of Daniel like a story, you caught me there even though not all the chapters are stories...some are visions and prophecies more like a mini book of Revelations. This reminds me of a christian novel I had where Ezra and Esther's time was the same...I would like to know your take on Daniel 10: 13-21... I appreciate your contributions... Thank you once again. |
bloglover: sweetheart calm down, we almost getting to d interesting part k?My dear, I am calm...it was only an observation and my opinion...nothing more...you should have put 'TO BE CONTINUED' or something like that |
But I thought everyone hailed Oshiomole (when he paddled) and Peter Obi (when he waddled), what's with the different measure given for the same politicians. If you condemn something in totality, let it spread across and not be selective, stop the double standards abeg! Any public figure that goes with a Video Camera and Still shot camera to any disaster ground is looking to milk public sympathy even if that person is your 'politician' father...Mbok! |

So what does one need to do after a meal? You put all the don'ts and not even a 'what to do'...and you think your article is complete? |
cao alvin: :DNoo naaa I knw its a guy thts doin tht,I told him amm a nigerian like him,tht if hee wan 2 knw the new method hee should tell mee I will show him,the fool sent a reply tht hee wans myy nooo.Ha! You got me laughing...But seriously this scamming style is old na...gmail sends everything to my spam...now, they have moved to phone calls oh... |
This is oh so sad. What a tragedy. My heart goes out to the widower...whose grief will surely know no bounds for now... May God grant you all the strength to be each other's strength |
@KDK, @Ihedinobi @image123 have answered in the same way and that is quite enlightening. It is worth channeling my thoughts to. Still shouldn't Daniel's god status have stopped the King from even attempting to throw him in the Lion's den? @Ihedinobi: No, you didn't scare me off. I don't scare that easily...just didn't have the time and didn't want to drop a one-liner either... |
I think it's not right for you to lift an article without quoting the source except you are the person in question even if you are the one...you should provide the link... It is worrisome that we still do not regard this act of lifting someone's work as bad. This article was that of a columnist on punch either yesterday or the day before...please, it would be decent of you if you provide the link or simply say..."I got this from somewhere and thought to share" Cheers |
I don't see anything wrong with mixing...I see it as being creative. I don't mean the mixing of different cooked soups together oh like gbegiri and ewedu...perhaps we Akwa Ibomites are the best at mixing. There is nothing that we don't try out even though we have enough soups... Here are some crazy soup mixing that I know of: Atama leaf and okra with unshelled periwinkle Atama leaf and waterleaf Afang and okra Ogbono and Egusi with Ugwu Afang and Egusi Afang and achi Some people even cook the leaf used in wrapping the cocoyam and wateryam (ekpang nkukwo) mixture. ETC My favorites are: Ogbono and Okra with unshelled periwinkles and goatmeat with a sprinkle of adusa leaves Egusi and Okra with unshelled periwinkles and stockfish (to bring out the taste of this combo) with a sprinkle of adusa |
Not only was this informative, your dialogue tone was very fresh and engaging. Have an e-hug! Page bookmarked |
