I don't see why the thread should have degenerated to Akwa Ibom vs Lagos, Akwa Ibom vs Rivers, Akwa Ibom vs South Eastern States, Akpabio vs Fashola, Akpabio vs Attah etc The states of road in Uyo are very good...the aesthetics abi na beautification beautiful too especially at night. There's this feeling whenever I come in from Calabar and I am approaching Itam junction...the streetlights combined with the faucet-coloured water flowing fountains are enough to make me glad I am back to Uyo...at those times, it doesn't occur to me to praise Attah, Akpabio or compare....that being said, Lagos should not and cannot be compared to Uyo...whoever does so errs. I am of the opinion that roads and aesthetics alone do not make up a city, town; the people in it do. Lagos is miles ahead and not only due to its infrastructures but due to its people too. It's one thing to build infrastructures...it's another thing to have people who appreciate and know the right use of the infrastructures. The average Akwa Ibom man is not innovatively inclined...well except for the very few who just came in and got exposure from living in other cities. I remember when okadas were to be banned years back. That day I was stuck with some Akwa Ibom okada men in a shelter because it was raining and Oron road was flooded. These men laughed at the few 'kekes' that were plying the road and navigating the flood. They said nothing would make them drive 'kekes'. Fast forward to the ban and then commuters suffering because very few 'kekes' plyed the roads and charged exhorbitantly till the Igbos from Abia and other neighbouring states came in. The Igbos took over the 'keke' business bringing normalcy to transport fares again before some Akwa Ibom men decided to venture into the 'keke' business either on hire purchase or to drive...now the city is clogged with 'kekes'. Same with the supermarkets...only very few supermarkets which can be counted on the tip of my fingers belong to Akwa Ibom men...they'd rather look for tiny contracts, stuff their pockets and build houses rather than businesses. Anyways, Akwa Ibom is gradually awakening...people who have come back arer bringing with them ideas to upgrade the mentality of the people. Good roads are good even if they lead to nowhere but an economically fit and commercial driving people will be better. So, if factories and more job avenues are created, Akwa Ibom can then beat its chest at also helping to make Nigeria better. |
Anybaba: Victor Attah did solid roads. Abak road dualisation is a typical example. I am not holding brief for Attah though, as he was still corrupt. Is Uyo not still a flooded city today? Have you ever been on Udo-Umanah, Babangida Avenue (immediately after the e-library), Nsikak Udueok Avenue and a lot of other streets after it rains? You need to go there and see first hand what flooding is. So where is the underground drainage you are talking about? That he has spent billions to build the so called pipe jacking underground drainage on Ikot-Ekpene road has not in anyway stopped the flooding in the city. One would actually ask why spend billions and not solve a problem? The floods on Oron road are gone! Abeg, let's try to be objective and not turn this into an Attah vs Akpabio fight...if that Oron Road flood and barracks road flood could be almost non-existent compared to past times like it then it behooves on every one to say so... |
Desola: veery few cars, very few people plying the roads. If this city is so beautiful and serene why hasn't these ibo people move down there instead of messing up our almighty Lagos, ehn? All this mouth and they still refuse to leave lagos.Don't be fooled by few people on the road oh...the place is getting clogged now. And of course, the igbos with their commercial activities have almost taken over. They own 90 percent of the supermarkets in Uyo, they are into the 'keke' business and of course phone accessories and stuffs like that. Even contracts are given to them too courtsey of the Madam at the top. As much as their presence is sometimes annoying, I must admit that it has helped the city because the average akwa ibom man is not innovatively inclined... I am not igbo oh |
Ermm...we don't have light 24/7djustice: Just like the man said, make an effort to get off your fat azz and go there to see for yourself. Development is evenly distributed, unlike Lagos where it's just some parts of Suru-Lere, some parts of the Island and some parts of Ikeja that come anywhere near what we see throughout Akwa Ibom.. |
And I thought surprise had nothing on me! Two pregnant women, a heartless man and a bad friend... |
But...but...I...th...thought...no, I didn't see where he mentioned his age oh...come, leave me joor and what if I didn't read the posts, like there is an award or something? *tongue out*Ah! I see...you wanted to say "Eno, you've been punked!" right? Kai! VillageBoi: Ah, I nefa even enta thread we don catch say you no read the posts lol... Sholay is 13. |
Nice one! I smiled watching it...what steps we are taking towards progress...Yes, the sound had a bit of a problem and I know you wanted to convince your audience on the credibility of the 'gore' and stunts but it was a bit too much for a trailer. Once again bros, you too try! |
VillageBoi: Forgot to say - Eno, you know Sholay is an actor right? I think he should be the lead in his own film. He knows the material he wrote in and out.Hmmm...that depends on how sholay looks...he has given the description of the main character...what if sholay is in his 20s? |
I ain't a man!ncpat: Thanks man I was only trying to help don`t mean to spoil things or copy another man`s sweat. |
VillageBoi: Eno!! How now? Where you dey siiiiince? Me I still dey in 4D you don upgrade reach 8DLeave me joor...you wey I dey poke for skype (that's if there is that kind of term for skyping) and you no reply...God is watching you oh |
Yes dear, you are sprinkling too much salt into sholay's pot of soup...apart from some misspelt words which has nothing to do with being a writer...you are not trying to leave that dead zone that is saturated because almost all film-makers tap and tap from it. The only promise I saw in your story was when funmi's children and husband came back to life...this could be turned to a good fantasy storyline but not with paranoia as the main theme...the thompson's character would have to be different and the build-up would have to be longer not short as sholay's own...that tiny scene of yours can create a whole new plot...no idea is totally useless but let's try to shift from the norm...take care ncpat: Nice script sholay2011 the script alone is more than a movie, please kindly permit me to drop the way I felt the story should end here, thanks in advance and keep up the good work. |
VillageBoi: May I be permitted to add an observation? Thanks...I see you oh...in 4D! |
A beautiful short script. Nothing was wasted...I love(d) it. Good actors with clear dictions will complete your story...well done! |
I guess that's where the creator of Boston Legal got the inspiration from for one of its episodes...suing God. |
Gosh, is this for real? First, your topic and story are as different as day and night... Second, it's sounds just like a scripted story...with his intestines gushing out like that...why isn't it in the newspapers or out in other media - social and otherwise? There was no police report too? Because most hospitals would hardly treat him without demanding a report So, your sister-in-law is that huge and beats everyone in the house and you all grin and bear it? So dear OP, if it's true...go to a police station and make as much noise as you can for the media to take it up. An NGO will eventually wade into the matter. Have a nice evening |
Spartacus carried it...mainly for the good drama it gave in its season one. Bastiatus speeches were quite inspiring and liberating. His dialogues were witty, crazy, cocky and made you mull over them...same with his wife and Doctore. I must say that asides the gore and near porn...I enjoyed Spartacus very much Games of Thrones...I have watched only half of one season and cannot really judge but from the little I watched...the drama and dialogue cannot be compared to Spartacus |
Turai, wife of former President Umaru Yar'Adua, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to forgive the Boko Haram sect as her late husband did to former militants in the Niger Delta. The former first lady advised Jonathan not to listen to anyone who advises him not to grant the sect amnesty. She said this in Lagos on Friday night during the Award Gala Night organised by the Niger Delta Young Professionals. Turai said, "When Yar'Adua saw that the people in the Niger Delta, particularly the children were dying callously, he (Yar'Adua) took it upon himself to grant amnesty to the militants to ensure lasting peace. "There is poverty in the North. What Yar'Adua did in the Niger Delta, let Jonathan do the same thing to the North. "Mr. President should not allow his advisers to deceive him. Let him sit down and think about the insecurity in the North." She said she respected her late husband and would continue to do so till her death. She also advocated youths' empowerment, saying if the youth are empowered, the country would be empowered. Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan has blamed northern leaders for the continued Boko Haram violence. The President, who was represented at the event by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, said northern leaders had not done enough to unmask those behind the group's activities. He said, "When the issue of Niger Delta was raging, and I will say this with all sense of responsibility, leaders of the region, particularly the governors, were the drivers of the process. "They reached out to the people and to the militants, they spoke and took their discussion, to an appreciable level before the Federal Government stepped in and then harnessed everything. "What efforts are the northern leaders making? We need to learn because every incident of Boko Haram in Nigeria is situated within the geopolitical confines of a region. What are the leaders doing? "Security agencies are not magicians – they are not spirits. These people who perpetrate these crimes do not come from the moon; they live within them. Why are they not helping the security agencies with the needed information? The problem of insecurity is not only the problem of government – it is the problem of all of us." He said the Federal Government was making efforts towards solving the problems. "What we solicit from Nigerians are understanding and patience," he stated. He said when the late Yar'Adua and himself decided to take the initiative to address the restiveness of Niger Delta militants, they knew the people they were speaking to and knew where they could go and see them, either in their creeks, headquarters or homes. "We reached out to them and spoke to them. We understood each other and on the basis of that, an understanding was reached and it was this understanding that was faithfully executed that led us to the amnesty in the region," he said. He said in the case of Boko Haram, their perpetrators were unknown, except for a few of them who spoke on the Internet or to the press. At the awards five persons were recognised including late Yar'Adua (posthumous); Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio; his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola; Chairman, Arik Air, Mr. Joseph Arumemi-Ikhide and 10-year-old author, Daniella Dan-Jumbo. mobile.punchng.com/output.php?link=http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-forgive-boko-haram-turai/ |

All I remember is that clip Kennis Music showed then of 2face in the hospital after he got robbed and beaten silly because of his not-yet-popular-phrase-then "nothing dey happen," and Annie was shown looking really worried and disheveled. She was in the hospital with him too... May God bless their union and perfect the flaws. I am indifferent about the other women but not for the children. I hope Annie doesn't push them away from their father... |
If the leaves are edible, he is only saying one thing and that is "Ol' Babe, abeg try arrange one big pot of soup wey go last us, I don tire for KFC" |
You have entered 'desperate' zone.First, you cannot force a man to pay your bride price, it's done willingly Second, he is not yet your husband so stop calling him that, that you have a child for him and is living with him doesn't make him one. Third, are you even happy or you just want to maintain the 'mrs' status quo? Cause, I see no reason why you couldn't have had the child whilst still staying with your parents. What are your parents saying about the matter? Have they sent emissaries? I think I can safely assume that it's not your child that's stopping you from going back to your parents, it's the fact that your absence could reveal the truth about his caring less because threats like 'I don't think I can marry you' are not to be taken lightly or be attributed to the heat of the passion. Go back to your parents and take your child with you. He might come for you and he might not but you need to get your dignity back. |

I argued this with a friend...he was like Tiwa is the best female artiste in Nigeria and I disagreed. I told him even Chidinma with a quarter training from project fame is better...give Chidinma the opportunity Tiwa had both here and abroad and she'd come out miles better. Omawunmi all the way joor. |
This defines cute in every sense. Wow! |
![]() She looks classy, elegant and African. Especially the second and third pictures. Me likey! |
ogugua88: [size=13pt]Don't lead an "immoral" life and then preach morality. The same way men brag of sleeping with numerous women and dreaming of a virgin wife in the romance section is how people oogle over perky, sexy westerners and then preach morals here.I agree. Sometimes these celebrities want to be themselves but are shackled by their adoring fans. It's like having a doll, dressing your doll up and having tea parties...you feed your doll exactly with what you want it to have and clothe them with the clothes you love. Celebrities are dolls to adoring fans, the only downside is they are live dolls and will sometimes do what the fans don't like. That being said, I understand Genny but I don't support her because she has cultivated a certain image. Anyways, the fact that she changed her attire and still carried on gracefully no matter how much she would have beaten herself up mentally is commendable. |
An award well deserved! |
It's a traditional marriage ritual in Akwa Ibom except the couple or her family are 'spirikoko' in which case the MC would not ask for the demonstration from the groom. |
