PoliticsRe: Uyo - City Of Peace And Beauty (Pictures) by Enoquin(f): 8:17am On Apr 14, 2013
undecided
I don't see why the thread should have degenerated to Akwa Ibom vs Lagos, Akwa Ibom vs Rivers, Akwa Ibom vs South Eastern States, Akpabio vs Fashola, Akpabio vs Attah etc

The states of road in Uyo are very good...the aesthetics abi na beautification beautiful too especially at night. There's this feeling whenever I come in from Calabar and I am approaching Itam junction...the streetlights combined with the faucet-coloured water flowing fountains are enough to make me glad I am back to Uyo...at those times, it doesn't occur to me to praise Attah, Akpabio or compare....that being said, Lagos should not and cannot be compared to Uyo...whoever does so errs. I am of the opinion that roads and aesthetics alone do not make up a city, town; the people in it do. Lagos is miles ahead and not only due to its infrastructures but due to its people too. It's one thing to build infrastructures...it's another thing to have people who appreciate and know the right use of the infrastructures.

The average Akwa Ibom man is not innovatively inclined...well except for the very few who just came in and got exposure from living in other cities.

I remember when okadas were to be banned years back. That day I was stuck with some Akwa Ibom okada men in a shelter because it was raining and Oron road was flooded. These men laughed at the few 'kekes' that were plying the road and navigating the flood. They said nothing would make them drive 'kekes'. Fast forward to the ban and then commuters suffering because very few 'kekes' plyed the roads and charged exhorbitantly till the Igbos from Abia and other neighbouring states came in. The Igbos took over the 'keke' business bringing normalcy to transport fares again before some Akwa Ibom men decided to venture into the 'keke' business either on hire purchase or to drive...now the city is clogged with 'kekes'. Same with the supermarkets...only very few supermarkets which can be counted on the tip of my fingers belong to Akwa Ibom men...they'd rather look for tiny contracts, stuff their pockets and build houses rather than businesses.
Anyways, Akwa Ibom is gradually awakening...people who have come back arer bringing with them ideas to upgrade the mentality of the people.

Good roads are good even if they lead to nowhere but an economically fit and commercial driving people will be better. So, if factories and more job avenues are created, Akwa Ibom can then beat its chest at also helping to make Nigeria better.
PoliticsRe: Uyo - City Of Peace And Beauty (Pictures) by Enoquin(f): 7:31am On Apr 14, 2013
Anybaba: Victor Attah did solid roads. Abak road dualisation is a typical example. I am not holding brief for Attah though, as he was still corrupt. Is Uyo not still a flooded city today? Have you ever been on Udo-Umanah, Babangida Avenue (immediately after the e-library), Nsikak Udueok Avenue and a lot of other streets after it rains? You need to go there and see first hand what flooding is. So where is the underground drainage you are talking about? That he has spent billions to build the so called pipe jacking underground drainage on Ikot-Ekpene road has not in anyway stopped the flooding in the city. One would actually ask why spend billions and not solve a problem?
The floods on Oron road are gone! Abeg, let's try to be objective and not turn this into an Attah vs Akpabio fight...if that Oron Road flood and barracks road flood could be almost non-existent compared to past times like it then it behooves on every one to say so...
PoliticsRe: Uyo - City Of Peace And Beauty (Pictures) by Enoquin(f): 7:04am On Apr 14, 2013
Desola: veery few cars, very few people plying the roads. If this city is so beautiful and serene why hasn't these ibo people move down there instead of messing up our almighty Lagos, ehn? All this mouth and they still refuse to leave lagos.

By the way, OP, i see you showing us one picture from four different angles and making it seem like they were different areas. na mumu you call us?

All in all sha, the city looks nice. oya, Nna people, move to your neighbour's city o
Don't be fooled by few people on the road oh...the place is getting clogged now. And of course, the igbos with their commercial activities have almost taken over. They own 90 percent of the supermarkets in Uyo, they are into the 'keke' business and of course phone accessories and stuffs like that. Even contracts are given to them too courtsey of the Madam at the top. As much as their presence is sometimes annoying, I must admit that it has helped the city because the average akwa ibom man is not innovatively inclined...
I am not igbo oh

undecided Ermm...we don't have light 24/7

djustice: Just like the man said, make an effort to get off your fat azz and go there to see for yourself. Development is evenly distributed, unlike Lagos where it's just some parts of Suru-Lere, some parts of the Island and some parts of Ikeja that come anywhere near what we see throughout Akwa Ibom..

Guess what, when they wanted to invest in power, they built a massive 191mw turbine, and now they have 24 hours light in Uyo, unlike the 10mw rubbish on Marina and at Iju that Tinubu's houseboy, Fash-ole is claiming through PPP.

Stop bellyaching and appreciate what is good when you see it. Mumu.

Nice one! I smiled watching it...what steps we are taking towards progress...Yes, the sound had a bit of a problem and I know you wanted to convince your audience on the credibility of the 'gore' and stunts but it was a bit too much for a trailer. Once again bros, you too try!

VillageBoi: Forgot to say - Eno, you know Sholay is an actor right? I think he should be the lead in his own film. He knows the material he wrote in and out.
From the experience of having made a short where everything happens in the actors head... getting the right lead is KEY!
Hmmm...that depends on how sholay looks...he has given the description of the main character...what if sholay is in his 20s?

Yes dear, you are sprinkling too much salt into sholay's pot of soup...apart from some misspelt words which has nothing to do with being a writer...you are not trying to leave that dead zone that is saturated because almost all film-makers tap and tap from it.
The only promise I saw in your story was when funmi's children and husband came back to life...this could be turned to a good fantasy storyline but not with paranoia as the main theme...the thompson's character would have to be different and the build-up would have to be longer not short as sholay's own...that tiny scene of yours can create a whole new plot...no idea is totally useless but let's try to shift from the norm...take care
ncpat: Nice script sholay2011 the script alone is more than a movie, please kindly permit me to drop the way I felt the story should end here, thanks in advance and keep up the good work.

END SCENE-1

Thomson will fell in love with Funmi in order to inherit Funmi`s Wealth but little did he know that Funmi was telling him the truth that the dolls were her children and the Dog the husband but they were cursed by a wicked Witch and only a true love from another man who is unaware of the Spell can break the Spell. Thomson at a point is no longer about the wealth but have genuine feelings for Funmi and he confesses to Funmi and letting Funmi know he loves her the way she is along with her dolls as children.

Thomson: My love, you know I love you.

Funmi: Of course I know.

Thomson: (cuts in) I mean I love you from the bottom of my heart, the way you are and your children I want to be their father.

Funmi: (In tears of joy looking straight into Thomson eyes robbing his chin with her tender fingers) I love you too but you can`t be their father.

Thomson: (Thomson immediately and gently carry up the dolls)I love your children too(Looking straight into their eyes and he called them by their names)Tade, Titi I love you both and I want to be your Father(embracing them to his chest with a warm welcome and pulls them from his chest looking straight into their eyes and he kiss the dolls and there you have it just like the Cinderella story winds and lightening blazing everywhere and behold the two dolls turns into a human form a boy and a girl )

Thomson: (shivering with fear with his mouth wide open and his eye balls ready to drop at any moment and was gently walking to the door) Lord….. I… must be dreaming please wake me up

Funmi : (With excitement and surprise all over her face) You di, you did it, you broke the spell, wait, where are you going Tom?

Thomson walking fast to the door, on approaching the door, there was a knock on the door and a voice calling Honey! Honey!! Honey!!! And Funmi dashed to the door.

Funmi: Is him! Is him!! My husband

Funmi open the door and a handsome young man in his early 30s entered

Funmi: Honey he did it, he broke the spell, Honey this is Tom…eh…Thomson our neighbor and Thomson meet my husband Kunle.

Thomson was still in shock and hardly can he even altar a word and Mr. Kunle also was stirring at Thomson with anger because he had on so many occasion watch Thomson smooth his wife when he was a dog and Thomson ran out of the house to his.

END SCENE-2

Thomson`s place

Thomson: why me Lord! Why me, I can`t take this anymore.

Image: Fool, was that the plan, are you supposed to fell in love?

Thomson: But I love her. No I can`t take this anymore I have to end it now.

Image: End what? Don`t tell me you want to cide.

Thomson: You wait and see me do it (Thomson reaching for a rope and tying it on the ceiling fan to commit suicide)

Well let me leave here for the original owner of the work sholay2011 to decide what happens next and also to add more grease to my part as I’m not a good writer and please guys forgive me if I just messed up the all things and to you sholay2011 enough respect for you.
TV/MoviesRe: My Short Film Script- PARANOIA by Enoquin(f): 7:48am On Apr 09, 2013
VillageBoi: May I be permitted to add an observation? Thanks...

As soon as I got to 'Cursed by a wicked Witch' near the very start of your post I kinda knew it would go completely off the rails... and it did.

I beleieve Sholay wrote something that does pretty well as a 'psychological short'. Turning it into a wicked witch/babalawo film and sprinkling it with a healthy dose of 'All-I-wanted-was-her-money' first just turns it into a poor Alaba-Market copy of something.

Understandably there is not a single film in the world that can please everyone and everyone will always have an idea on 'how to make it better'. If we actually could make everything better then there wouldn't be a single crappy film coming out of Nigeria... sadly that is not the case.

@ ncpat. Does anything 'have to' happen next in the script? Probably not. The audience can use their imagination to make their own conclusions instead of being spoon-fed the conclusion IMO that makes it a much more mature film. There is a reason for the saying 'Too many cooks spoil the broth'.
I see you oh...in 4D!

Gosh, is this for real?

First, your topic and story are as different as day and night...

Second, it's sounds just like a scripted story...with his intestines gushing out like that...why isn't it in the newspapers or out in other media - social and otherwise?
There was no police report too? Because most hospitals would hardly treat him without demanding a report

So, your sister-in-law is that huge and beats everyone in the house and you all grin and bear it?

So dear OP, if it's true...go to a police station and make as much noise as you can for the media to take it up. An NGO will eventually wade into the matter. Have a nice evening
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Vs Spartacus by Enoquin(f): 12:08pm On Apr 07, 2013
Spartacus carried it...mainly for the good drama it gave in its season one. Bastiatus speeches were quite inspiring and liberating. His dialogues were witty, crazy, cocky and made you mull over them...same with his wife and Doctore. I must say that asides the gore and near porn...I enjoyed Spartacus very much
Games of Thrones...I have watched only half of one season and cannot really judge but from the little I watched...the drama and dialogue cannot be compared to Spartacus
PoliticsJonathan, Forgive Boko Haram --turai by Enoquin(op): 5:01am On Apr 07, 2013
Turai, wife of former President Umaru
Yar'Adua, has urged President
Goodluck Jonathan to forgive the Boko
Haram sect as her late husband did to
former militants in the Niger Delta.
The former first lady advised Jonathan
not to listen to anyone who advises him
not to grant the sect amnesty.
She said this in Lagos on Friday night
during the Award Gala Night organised
by the Niger Delta Young Professionals.
Turai said, "When Yar'Adua saw that
the people in the Niger Delta,
particularly the children were dying
callously, he (Yar'Adua) took it upon
himself to grant amnesty to the
militants to ensure lasting peace.
"There is poverty in the North. What
Yar'Adua did in the Niger Delta, let
Jonathan do the same thing to the
North.
"Mr. President should not allow his
advisers to deceive him. Let him sit
down and think about the insecurity in
the North."
She said she respected her late husband
and would continue to do so till her
death.
She also advocated youths'
empowerment, saying if the youth are
empowered, the country would be
empowered.
Meanwhile, President Goodluck
Jonathan has blamed northern leaders
for the continued Boko Haram violence.
The President, who was represented at
the event by the Minister of Special
Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs,
Kabiru Turaki, said northern leaders
had not done enough to unmask those
behind the group's activities.
He said, "When the issue of Niger Delta
was raging, and I will say this with all
sense of responsibility, leaders of the
region, particularly the governors, were
the drivers of the process.
"They reached out to the people and to
the militants, they spoke and took their
discussion, to an appreciable level
before the Federal Government stepped
in and then harnessed everything.
"What efforts are the northern leaders
making? We need to learn because
every incident of Boko Haram in Nigeria
is situated within the geopolitical
confines of a region. What are the
leaders doing?
"Security agencies are not magicians –
they are not spirits. These people who
perpetrate these crimes do not come
from the moon; they live within them.
Why are they not helping the security
agencies with the needed information?
The problem of insecurity is not only the
problem of government – it is the
problem of all of us."
He said the Federal Government was
making efforts towards solving the
problems.
"What we solicit from Nigerians are
understanding and patience," he stated.
He said when the late Yar'Adua and
himself decided to take the initiative to
address the restiveness of Niger Delta
militants, they knew the people they
were speaking to and knew where they
could go and see them, either in their
creeks, headquarters or homes.
"We reached out to them and spoke to
them. We understood each other and on
the basis of that, an understanding was
reached and it was this understanding
that was faithfully executed that led us
to the amnesty in the region," he said.
He said in the case of Boko Haram, their
perpetrators were unknown, except for
a few of them who spoke on the Internet
or to the press.
At the awards five persons were
recognised including late Yar'Adua
(posthumous); Akwa Ibom Governor
Godswill Akpabio; his Lagos State
counterpart, Babatunde Fashola;
Chairman, Arik Air, Mr. Joseph
Arumemi-Ikhide and 10-year-old author,
Daniella Dan-Jumbo.

FamilyRe: Married And Mature Advice Pls by Enoquin(f): 9:55am On Mar 22, 2013
sad You have entered 'desperate' zone.

First, you cannot force a man to pay your bride price, it's done willingly

Second, he is not yet your husband so stop calling him that, that you have a child for him and is living with him doesn't make him one.

Third, are you even happy or you just want to maintain the 'mrs' status quo? Cause, I see no reason why you couldn't have had the child whilst still staying with your parents.

What are your parents saying about the matter? Have they sent emissaries?
I think I can safely assume that it's not your child that's stopping you from going back to your parents, it's the fact that your absence could reveal the truth about his caring less because threats like 'I don't think I can marry you' are not to be taken lightly or be attributed to the heat of the passion.

Go back to your parents and take your child with you. He might come for you and he might not but you need to get your dignity back.

I used to blame celebrities for not being better role models, until I had a discussion with one from Congo. Then, I learned that I needed to start keeping quiet. He said that a lot of celebrities didn't go into their industries to be role models. A lot of them are people doing what they love and are criticized for every choice they make. If I become famous, I certainly don't want anyone copying me as I'm not perfect. It's a shame that Genny is alongside Karen Igho, a former stripper who enjoys being naked. I'm sure Genevieve's intent wasn't to get people talking the wrong way. She probably saw an outfit she adored and wore it. The problem is that she's a Nigerian from Nigeria, the land of hypocrisy.[/size]
I agree. Sometimes these celebrities want to be themselves but are shackled by their adoring fans. It's like having a doll, dressing your doll up and having tea parties...you feed your doll exactly with what you want it to have and clothe them with the clothes you love. Celebrities are dolls to adoring fans, the only downside is they are live dolls and will sometimes do what the fans don't like.
That being said, I understand Genny but I don't support her because she has cultivated a certain image. Anyways, the fact that she changed her attire and still carried on gracefully no matter how much she would have beaten herself up mentally is commendable.
