It's not so hard to believe that few men can sit on their backside without doing anything for years. I once knew a man who did such and his was more than 10years. We moved to that neighborhood in 1996 and till after my service in 2010...the man didn't move his butt. I became aware of him when after my secondary school while going for jamb lessons, I usually saw him every morning with the same tee shirt and three quarters day in, day out. Of course, after the wife came complaining/seeking advice from my mum about the man's stance on wanting another child (a male) since she had two females; my mum had to lie to the man that the wife's health wouldn't allow her take in. This woman was the breadwinner, she gave the man pocket money each morning before going out to wherever she went to each morning, pay the rent, pay her children's school fees and still come home to cook for everyone. First time meeting the woman, one would think her too bitter except one hears her story...the woman died of hepatitis and brain tumor (according to what I heard) in 2010, she was buried in the a very cheap coffin because family and friends had contributed heavily to keep her alive. Her two daughters have been split, one with the church pastor and the other with the mother's best friend. The mother was her parents' only child. The man is in the village and is working as a school teacher in one of the village schools. Then when everyone begged him to work, his wife, the church people, his friends, the wife's family....he refused claiming to hate menial tasks... A woman that stays at home for 8 years cannot be compared with a man that does, because a woman at home will take care of the house and kids but a man at home will nearly kill the woman of stress...haba! She is the help mate and not the care-taker, I bet the man does not help out with house chores...perhaps that is why she needs a maid for when the children come back from school |
The Retreat (British Movie) The Lady in the black dress (British) The Usual suspects Beautiful mind And some others that have just escaped my mind |
Your intro was a bit confusing, your punctuations, paragraphing have been addressed by others. Some of your phrases need to be well thought out, for example you wrote 'he slapped a speck of imaginary dust' or something like that...No one slaps dust even more so when it's imaginary...you only flick a speck of dust... As I said, your story was a bit confusing...remember to write for your audience and not for yourself... I would suggest you join NaijaStories...your writing will definitely improve...goodluck to you and I wish you the best! |
Yam/Unripe plantain with fried scentleaf sauce...heavenly Okro and adusa with fresh fish Okro and Ogbono with periwinkle and goatmeat Almost all Nigerian delicacies minus abacha... |

@joagbaje: I think your theory is flawed. If you say people wrote the bible according to their understanding then...in the instance, where you quoted conflicting verses of where Satan and God inflicted Israel, then your stand on God being good and perfect is correct and Goshen360 and the others stand on God creating both good and evil is also correct Col 1:16...because you guys have decided to stick with the interpretations that benefits your arguments at this point in time... But if you accept that all scripture is written by inspiration from God, you would have to accept everything, the bible says without leaving out some parts... As for every other thing, I hope you guys all know that not everyone in or from a particular church will make heaven? Every christian brother or sister should be treated as one regardless of the denomination...if we are all practising christians, then love wouldn't be such a hard thing, would it? There shouldn't be competition amongst us as no one knows all which is the essence of fellowship with brethrens anywhere (even online)...Pastor Chris, Adeboye, Oyedepo, My Pastor etc...all these Men of God are not the absolute, the Bible is...so we can all learn from each other... |
@OP: I have heard about him...I think only the people based in Calabar or Akwa Ibom can profess to have heard of him...I have seen his posters and billboards...heard he even graduated from UniUyo.. I have never been to his church before but I have heard so many stories from people who have been or who know those who worship there... Still, the human mind will always doubt till there is an encounter...even I myself have doubted all the stories I have heard |
He rushed his words as if he was too nervous... definitely not one of MTN's best |
It's getting annoying..It's better to stop reporting these lootings since it ends just with reporting! |
His literacy did not tell him that the intense heat of the sun and his hawking in a suit are incompatible? |
You all that are advocating for Nigeria's break up are funny. Apart from the fact that you will use whatever dubious means and link to express your wish, you also think that all problems will be solved once there is a break-up. Corruption, Political abracadabra and all other vices will not cease once we break-up, All regions will suffer because we depend on one another for our existence. We the Niger Deltans will suffer because it is not by Oil alone (and who even says we want to be bound to Biafra?), the North will suffer and so will the South West, Most corporations in Lagos will not be easily uprooted to new countries. And not to forget the fact that the Northerners that are chiefly in the army will benefit from weapon pilfering and again that will not stop some die-hard suicide bombers from making sure your countries run effectively, Separation will not magically create unbridgeable boundaries after all the land mass will still remain the same, |
@mfolarin, Your write-up is wicked! Methinks though that either Ivy does all these acts herself or she has a split personality. Oh my gosh, Please develop it, I would like to know what happened to Ivy in the end, and don't worry even if you are out of that competitions there are many more competitions for you, |
Who says we can't complain? The Television Series Things fall apart back in the oldies was a huge success and was what brought Pete Edochie to limelight. It is a UK movie and as some people have said they have the right to bring in whatever casts but that doesn't mean we shouldn't complain and that nollywood shouldn't cover its face in shame |
moremi2008:Lmao, you go fear the kain list wey your mama get for mind. But seriously, like chaircover said, in the end she'll just be happy you settled down with someone especially if she is the right one for you. |
Why not get a book and jot down the ideas for the second one as they come. That's what I do for my novel and screenplays. I use my phone especially if I am not close to my task book. I hated the idea before but I found out that in the long run it was better for me. |
Ujujoan:Lol, dripping sarcasm |
Then stop cooking. Eat out and cook at home every once in a while. Cook the quantity only you can eat, If it's rice cook one cup, that is if you are not a heavy eater. Have your girlfriend (if you have one) cook the meals from her house and bring in a flask. Put only loose change in your wallet. Stop your DSTV subscriptions, na you dey spoil am self. Food and unlimited sports 24/7 with light or generator. The guy is living large and you are just perching. If all that fails to work, then kick him out abeg. I knew a man like that, who felt that some jobs were just too menial and tasking. He sat at home for close to eleven years, his wife did everything. Then the woman died last year from Hepatitis and the man had to move to his village. I'm sure he wished that all these years he took the advices of those who told him to just look for any job. His kids are separated as families helping out could not just take both of them in. So one kid is with the mum's close friend, the other with the pastor's family and the man in the village. Last I spoke with him, he told me he had started teaching in one village and had to walk miles everyday to get there. Moral of the story? One job self isn't sufficient in taking care of all your needs that is why people advocate for a multiple source of income. Talk less of someone not having a job at all and not even trying to do something about getting income. What did he study? What is his hobby? |
Stop the contradictions. If you say or rather she says that she and her christian boyfriend understands the fact that the relationship is going nowhere then why is the "Should I leave my current boyfriend knowing that we love each other" coming into play? And is Femi the only Muslim on earth? Does he even feel anything for her, knowing that marriage is a life time deal, ? |
So the man is a supposed saint who did nothing but have his wife just throw out his belongings for no just cause. Abeg, there's more to the story. |
Perhaps you should tell Abel your frustrations and have him talk to Kane, perhaps he will listen to Abel seeing that they are both in the same boat. BTW: This your pseudonyms for your friends self, you no see other names? Or don't you know the relationship between Kane and Abel? From Bible to Jeffery Archer? ![]() |
Your title is quite misleading, This 'culture' you mentioned cannot be attributed to the whole Nigeria. I haven't heard of it. |
adonisgold:Osodi. We stay around Ifako, so if you know the market at Bariga, you'll definitely find it in these two places. you'd have to ask from an igbo or a calabar trader. Point to note are those selling Afang (okazi) or soupd condiments like dried mangala fish, stockfish etc. Those ones usually have it here. Here in Akwa Ibom though, it's almost everywhere you turn in the market and when I served in Abia, there were places that sold it in bulk. |
Did I just read that many escaped inmates returned after checking to see that their families were safe? |
Some people also call it Ghana Pepper. I use it for my soups and have gotten quite used to it. I used to think the very yellow peppers were the fresh version till someone told me it wasn't. If by the West, you mean Lagos and co, I would gladly tell you that it can be found but mostly amongst the igbo and calabar foodstuff sellers, but if you mean Obodo oyibo, then sorry I can't help. |
Being the first born is a fufilling and arduous task. You get to be lonely since you are expected to be a rock and hold steady at all times. Sometimes, when I take my siblings out like to the beach, I stay behind to look after our stuffs while encouraging them to have fun even though looking at the sea is theurapatic enough for me, I can't help the feeling of loneliness that crop up and the fact that I consider myself an old woman in my mid twenties and yet I am proud of how my siblings have turned out. I am like a second mother to them. As tall as my brothers are, when I want to scold them, I ask them to bend a little for a light knock on the head and they do it with joy and even give me a peck on the cheek. I use my sister as a reference point to some younger females. My siblings all hurry to do things for me. And lastly, you get to have your parents listen to your suggestions especially if you made them proud! |
190's response was definitely hilarious. @Upendo: I understand your argument but I do not think that the lady has the right to put a full stop to this young guy's life. It's not by force to tie the knot. I wish we' d all stop using this career as an excuse. |
Na only two tings dey for u, either make u comot d belle or keep am If you keep the belle, na only two tings dey, either make you do wedding now or later If you wan do wedding now, na only one ting be dat because u go find say ur mind go come kolele. All the tings wey u tink say go too hard, come be like say na easy easy. Wen d baby come self, una no go remember all the pampers and baby food na to just dey look d baby day and night dey tank God say dat kain fine ting enter una house. Make una do d rite ting, do una wedding sharp sharp. E fit no be big wedding o. |
The things that are usually forbidden are that which we long for. Once a thing is no longer forbidden, it loses its appeal. Your cousin looks and acts like Prince Charming because your boyfriend created the void. Either you dump your boyfriend and go for someone that would cloud your senses leaving no room for your cousin or you try and fix what is wrong in your relationship. |
Very funny write up. Men sha! ![]() |
