Insanity must not be tolerated on Nairaland.
I can't stand hypocrisy. What is the difference between the comment you quoted and the comment you made below?

You have no moral ground to correct anyone when you've made exactly the same comment.

Hypocrisy on fleek.

Buhari has been kidnapped. Evans is a learner compared to the cabal.

Well, my own is they must disclose how much has been spent on his medical treatment as it's Nigeria's money, not his personal money. If he is truly mr integrity, he should be accountable to the citizens. Eod.

Actually, Boko has been on the back foot since late 2014....their ability to carry out attacks in cities has been severely curtailed.

Suicide bombings not longer happen in places like Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, or even Abuja. Boko's ability to strike in major urban centers has been severely curtailed.
So human lives in towns and villages have less value than cities or what the heck are you trying to say?

Even if you are going to defend the govt, have some empathy. Jeez.

The rational is to hide under the Guise of teaching Arabic to spread Islam into norther christian minority populations and the middle belt where you will currently find it hard to get a French teacher so students will be forced to study Arabic cleverly embedded with an Islamic malware
It's very clear that's their evil intention. Meanwhile the country is still battling from boko haram as a result of indoctrination.

What a piece of shi_t this govt is.

Hope Nigerians are seeing this with their eyes wide open!

We can now see clearly why CAN had to speak out. Some people just want to retrogress backward and backward into Stone Age era which would have been perfectly fine if they were not dragging the rest of the country along. Nigerians, behold your govt of change! cheesy

When did Nigeria become an Arabic nation that we are adopting their lingua Franca in national exams?! huh
Arabic is not a religion-neutral language considering the fact that majority of the arabic countries are islamic. Just look at the mess the people who voted this bigot have gotten this country into.

Even though i am a Muslim, i do not subscribe to the introduction of Arabic into our educational curriculum, whether it is compulsory or not. There are many other more important diplomatic languages we can introduce into the system, not Arabic. Major parts of IRK already contains Arabic, so why make it a whole different subject on its own. Instead of languages, i expected this administration to introduce more tech-based subjects into the curriculum. This policy is in all honesty wrong and should be reversed as long as possible. Nevertheless, we should all be mindful of FFKs and his ilks. They are politicians and surely have their strategies of causing division among us along ethnic and religious lines.
Well said.

Very retrogressive government. Nothing positive to bring to the table. Other countries are moving forward, we are here taking leaps backward.

EazyMoh:
I meant recruitment into their armed forces.
Still the same thing.

In terms of competitive advantage in global commercial companies, arabic does not feature as a sought after foreign language.

In any case, the relevance of arabic is not the issue here. The issue here is no student must be mandated to study arabic. No more, no less.

Yeah useless indeed says someone who's native language is going extinct.
In case you don't know even in recruitment excercise so of even western countries priority is giving to applicants who can speak foreign languages, and especially Arabic giving the number of missions they undergo in those regions. But you wouldn't know that.
You are likely referring to the UN and maybe Red cross, which is because a number of those missions are countries which are war torn due to terrorism. No global company based in the West gives priority to arabic during recruitment.
PoliticsRe: The Truth About The New Curiculum by ephi321(f): 6:34pm On Jun 19, 2017
It's such an irony that in a system where focus should be on increasing the number of children going to school and raising literacy levels particularly for core sciences and STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) in particular, what is being debated is making arabic compulsory. Talk about misplaced priorities. I can see we have a loooooooong way to go in this country.

Tell yourself the truth, what are the odds of finding and Arabic teacher only in a school especially in the south?
Between a French and Arabic Teacher who is easier to employ? Who are in excess among our graduates? And who said if there is no French teachers students will forced to study Arabic?
Tell myself the truth about what?
It's a very simple case, NO STUDENT must be forced to study arabic. That is the point.

Re: your last question, you seem not to have read the original thread as that was clearly stated there. And that actually is the bone of contention otherwise why would people be raising hullabaloo over the proposed change?

PoliticsRe: The Truth About The New Curiculum by ephi321(f): 6:00pm On Jun 19, 2017
The muslim students are free to study whatever language or religion they choose to study AS LONG AS IT IS NOT IMPOSED OR MADE MANDATORY for non-Muslims either directly or indirectly, e.g. using the excuse of no French or CRK teacher to imply students are left with only the option of arabic.

Eod.

It is complete nonsense. Not in this century. Any society that wants to reach the promise land must place MERIT above everything.

An employee in an Israeli government establishment once asked his employer ''why are you my boss and the reverse not the case?''

This attitude to credentials, qualifications, merit, shows why Israel is one of the most advanced nations in the world.

This bullish needs to stop. If we are one nation, show it in the constitution. I recommend a massive constitution amendment
And other functional well-run societies. It's an abnormal thing going on in Nigeria where merit takes a back seat. Very abnormal.

That's why most of them become so wild and extremist. The psychologists will call it emotional trauma. Even saudi arabia does not practice this almajiri nonsense. The northern elite want to perpetually keep their masses illiterate, so they can manipulate them as tools. And it is working, very few parents will question why their child must go to almajiri, when the big northern kids school in London.
That is the summary. Something needs to be done urgently about this issue.
