Look sis, the only way that can happen is if someone shot at the said house from a vantage position, Any detective from the west will be able to tell you the angle of trajectory of a bullet by examination this aspect or its flight path, this is how its worked out. So the house was the target rather than a stray bullet falling from the sky.

My friend feels its spiritual since the other seven tenants including our colleague who lives in the compound did not hear gunshots when asked early that morning neither did people in the vicinity plus it Happened at the start of the rainy season and there's no leak in the house but the hole was still there when I last visited

There is not bullet hole on the bedsheet, if the bullet truly penetrated the ceiling, it will not just land sideways on the bed.

It will still have enough strength to at least bury itself inside the bed.

Answer, Modern ammunitions have oxidizing agents within them that creates oxygen for ignition and ofcos the resultant blast projects the slog, But big But, a gun that fires munitions that is Gun powder based will fire better in space than earth cos of the above theory as Gunpowder has an oxidizing agent within called Potassium Nitrate KNO3 in black gun powder. Bullets don travel in a straight line, horizontally as you put it. Bullet travel in a semi parabolic path called trajectories

Now I see where you going to, I will agree with you if we are talking at same level. But you are getting it confused, Bullets travel above the line of sight ,Now do you know what that means? At longer distances they travel in a semi curve. This is not noticeable to the naked eye and totally irrelevant to this OPs post, it tends to deep downwards cos of gravitational pull. This is what a spotter calculates to give aim to the sniper hence I made reference to the movie SHOOTER

Let me try and use english to explain this to to you.
In physics, there is what is called projectile motion, which is the path an object travels when shot into the air, now when the gun is shot into the air from point B at an angre less than 90 degrees, it travels through a semi-parabolic path upwards, the bullet then attain a maximum speed and height at poin A. From this point A, the speed and momentum (force) of the bullet reduce as it start to descend down words. Note: at any angle >45 degrees the more the impact of the bullet and visvasa...

Thank God no one was there. I had a similar experience in 2006. I was sitting on the rug I our living room with my brother and a family friend sitting on chairs. We heard a loud bang through the ceiling with fine particles of the ceiling flying around me. I jumped away on hearing the noise. I came back and saw the hole through the ceiling and realized it pierced through the roof as well. We seached everywhere if there was a bullet but didn't find any. It was days later when I was doing thorough clean up that I saw the bullet. We showed it to a police officer and he said it was police bullet. The hole on the ceiling and roof was directly above my head where I sat. By the way, we never heard any gun shot except the bang through the roof. Na God dey save us o!
