toluxa1: I don't believe this story jorrrr. Is it that the guy didn't expect Argentina to score any goal or he expected that we'll just win the match like a walk over. Rubbish. If the story is true then it's either the guy was very sick before, or maybe he FOOLISHLY had a bet with someone with all his money. It all does't make sense to me. Wetin Italian man go come do when Paraguay score dem? My neighbor, a mother of 4, also died in the early hours of Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack when Argentina attempted to score another goal. Although, she had being very sick before this time and was diagnosed of having high blood pressure and other related illness. She was a staunch football lover, who met her untimely death through our useless super chickens.
What a sad ending!!!!! |

Onwan: @Eros True
But most times, we make them what they are - IF you know how many magistrates and judges are waiting and would be happy to get those guys behind bars (and most importantly, out of those uniforms), you will be shocked.
I think in all, educated people should prep on their knowledge of their rights (NOT just in this case BUT in a lot of other things), that way you will understand that most people we think are our leaders are actually our servants. That's so true, i need to get a copy of our constitution and study it thoroughly. As much as i like to avoid any troubles with the men in black, i think its worth knowing one's right and defending it when the need arises. |

Autos › Re: What Is The Sense In "tint Permit" In A Very Hot And Humid Country? by eros(m): 6:59pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
Onwan: @Kunle-A I think the tinted permit thing is basically for security reasons; bandicts can get away with a whole lot of things in a vehicle with dark tints, I beleive this is the same overseas - I know I've been pulled over once on Silverside DE, for "Security Identification Purposes" - It was not for the rear tints though.
The tint also helps shield those terrible sun-rays so its worth having, especially when you know what the intense sun can do to your leather interior - especially that dash-top area (the complete assembly starts detatching from the wind-shield, same thing starts happening to the roof padding from the back side too.
There is something confusing though; Im not sure I know about the "renewable" tinted permit, I have for two of my cars and there are no expiries on any of them or any provision for renewal; both straight from Force Headquaters in Abuja and signed duely from the DIG's office. Im not sure of the renewable side of that theory. @ Onwan,
Regarding your point, on explaining to the men in black why one does not need a tint permit for the back rear windshield and back sides, i think that might be like telling a mad man he is mad.
Those guys we all know are something out of this world. I did say, if you have your rear windshield and back sides tinted, just get the tint permit and avoid being delayed by those animals.
And as for the renewal of the tint permit that Kunle made mention of, that is not true. I had mine done in Abuja and was duly signed by the DIG and does not require any renewal. It's a one time registration. |

Art, Graphics & Video › Re: Will A U.S. Plasma HDTV Work In Nigeria? by eros(m): 12:49pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
AkoEja: It may not work if it does not have an analogue tuner - which is what we currently have in Nigeria. The following information gives a general overview of tuner compatibility There are essentially 2 types of TV signal: analog and digital. So TV tuners are either analog or digital. The more recent breed of tuners which are actually dual tuners that combine the two types of TV tuners are generally referred to as hybrid tuners: those are compatible with both analog and digital signal types. Analog Tuners: Primarily MPEG-2 analog tuners (NTSC, PAL and Secam), which are tuners with an onboard MPEG-2 hardware encoder. This will pick TV signal in Nigeria. Digital Tuners: Over-the-air (OTA) digital ATSC and DVB-T tuners and other classes of digital tuners (QAM, DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-H, etc.) America uses ATSC and DVB-S and DVD-S2(both satelite TV) while Britain uses DVB-T and DVB-T2(freeview) + Satellite DVB-S and DVD-S2
For a TV to work in Nigeria, it must have an anlogue tuner(the TV picks the signal directly) or you can use a satellite box(like Sky digibox or DSTV in Nigeria) which picks the signal and send it to the TV. You will then need a satellite dish Check which tuners this TV has first Nice one, very insightful.
As explained above, you may need to check out the specifications before shipping the TV down to Nigeria. Better still, you should ask the dealer you bought it from, if it will work overseas or Nigeria as the case may be. |

Kgdavid: well personally the reason why i could never watch south african league matches was because of the extremely monotonous dull irritating blare of the vuvuzela and i was extremely incensed on saturday when the vuvuzela almost drowned our national anthem, thats just rubbish that i have never seen done anywhere else. one can seen how goal keepers really have to scream to communicate on the pitch. if you ask me, this is the world cup and there is a lot of excitement but anything that takes away from the actual football being played should be dealt with. most foreign nationals detest it and since its been proven to be dangerous for hearing then it should be banned Asap. Thank you oo jare. Well said. The vuvuzela is officially noise pollution and should be banned. |

honeric01: This same trumpet was used in the confederation cup, that did not stop Brazil from winning nor stop USA from booting out Spain. Abeg, Evra should go and sit down somewhere.
The only problem i have now is the fact that the trumpets are being blown even when anthems are going on which is bad. Let's be honest and fair, the vuvuzelas are truly a nuisance. Even whilst watching the matches through TV, the sound is very irritating and annoying. I am in support of the motion that they ban it when other countries are playing and they can blow their lungs out when South Africa is playing |
Sports › World Cup Considers Horn (Vuvuzela) Ban by eros(op): 9:18am On Jun 14, 2010 |
World Cup organizing committee head Danny Jordaan on Sunday did not rule out banning vuvuzelas, the noisy plastic trumpets that have proved a hit with fans in South Africa but threaten to deafen players and viewers alike. Criticism of the vuvuzelas has been almost as loud as the instruments themselves with broadcasting companies complaining the din is almost drowning out commentary. DAY 3 AT THE WORLD CUP Sit down, relax on Sunday and enjoy the world's greatest sporting event as day three at the World Cup is presented in all its vibrant colors. "We've tried to get some order," Jordaan said. "We have asked for no vuvuzelas during national anthems or during stadium announcements. I know it's a difficult question," he added, saying that "we're trying to manage the best we can. "We heard from the broadcasters and individuals, and it's something we are evaluating on an on-going base." Jordaan told the BBC he had to consider the option of banning the trumpets. "If there are grounds to do so, yes," he said, asked if a ban was an option. France captain Patrice Evra said the incessant noise was a factor in his side's poor display in their draw with Uruguay. According to Evra: "We can't sleep at night because of the vuvuzelas. People start playing them from 6 a.m. We can't hear one another out on the pitch because of them." Jordaan said: "I would prefer singing" and called on fans to chant instead. "In the days of the struggle (against apartheid), we were singing, all through our history. It's our ability to sing that inspired and drove the emotions." SOURCE: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/worldcup/story/World-Cup-considers-ban-on-horns-061310?GT1=39011 |
